We summarize recent progress in the studies of the short-rang correlations (SRC) in nuclei in high energy electron and hadron nucleus scattering and suggest directions for the future high energy studies aimed at establishing detailed structure of two-nucleon SRCs, revealing structure of three nucleon SRC correlations and discovering non-nucleonic degrees of freedom in nuclei.
The momentum distributions of pions and $ρ$-mesons in the nucleon are extracted from experiment. Perspectives of the quark microscopic theory of mesonic cloud are outlined.
The effects of the symmetry potential and the isospin dependent in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section on the number of proton(neutron) emissions N$_p(N_n$) are studied respectively within an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model. The isospin dependent in-medium NN cross section is found to have a strong influence on N$_p(N_n$) but N$_p(N_n$) is not sensitive to the symmetry potential for the neutron-deficient colliding system at relatively high energies. We propose to make use of the N$_p(N_n$) as a probe to extract information on the isospin dependent in-medium NN cr…
A comparison between full few-body Faddeev/Alt-Grassberger-Sandhas (Faddeev/AGS) and continuum-discretized coupled channels (CDCC) calculations is made for the resonant and nonresonant breakup of $^{11}$Be on proton target at 63.7 MeV/u incident energy. A simplified two-body model is used for $^{11}$Be which involves an inert $^{10}$Be(0$^+$) core and a valence neutron. The sensitivity of the calculated observables to the nucleon-nucleon potential dynamical input is analysed. We show that with the present NN and N-core dynamics the results remain a puzzle for the few-body problem of scattering…
Low-energy nuclear structure is not sensitive enough to resolve fine details of nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction. Insensitivity of infrared physics to the details of short-range strong interaction allows for consistent, free of ultraviolet divergences, formulation of local theory at the level of local energy density functional (LEDF) including, on the same footing, both particle-hole as well as particle-particle channels. Major difficulty is related to parameterization of the nuclear LEDF and its density dependence. It is argued that structural simplicity of terminating or isomeric states offe…
Some of the recent attempts to detect signals of nucleon-nucleon correlations with semi-exclusive A(e,e'p) and exclusive A(e,e'pN) processes are reviewed. Unfactorized and distorted-wave calculations for these processes are discussed. The calculations implement two-body currents stemming from pion-exchange and intermediate $Δ$ excitation. The two-body currents are shown to be highly competitive with the mechanisms related to nucleon-nucleon correlations. This observation seriously hampers attempts to link semi-exclusive A(e,e'p) measurements, which probe high missing energies, to the correlate…
The momentum dependence of the medium modifications on nucleon-nucleon elastic cross sections is discussed with microscopic transport theories and numerically investigated with an updated UrQMD microscopic transport model. The semi-peripheral Au+Au reaction at beam energy $E_b=400A$ MeV is adopted as an example. It is found that the uncertainties of the momentum dependence on medium modifications of cross sections influence the yields of free nucleons and their collective flows as functions of their transverse momentum and rapidity. Among these observables, the elliptic flow is sensitively dep…
We study the isospin effects of the mean field and two-body collision on the nucleon emissions at the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions by using an isospin dependent transport theory. The calculated results show that the nucleon emission number $N_{n}$ depends sensitively the isospin effect of nucleon nucleon cross section and weakly on the isospin dependent mean field for neutron-poor system in higher beam energy region . In particular, the correlation between the medium correction of two-body collision and the momentum dependent interaction enhances the dependence of nucleon emission …
We propose to use proton knockout reactions (p,2p) from a deeply bound orbit as a new probe into three-nucleon-force (3NF) effects. The remarkable advantage of using (p,2p) reaction is that we can choose an appropriate kinematical condition to probe the 3NF effects. We analyze (p,2p) reactions on a 40Ca target within the framework of distorted-wave impulse approximation with a g-matrix interaction based on chiral two- and three-nucleon forces. The chiral 3NF effects significantly change the peak height of the triple differential cross section of (p,2p) reaction. We also clarify the corresponde…
We show that the strong dependence of the amplitude for $NN$ hard scattering on the collision energy can be used to magnify the effects of short range nucleon correlations in quasielastic $pd$ scattering. Under specific kinematical conditions the effect of initial and final state interactions can be accounted for by rescaling the cross section calculated within the plane wave impulse approximation. The feasibility to investigate the role of relativistic effects in the deuteron wave function is demonstrated by comparing the predictions of different formalisms. Binding effects due to short range…
A calculation of the deuteron polarization observables $A^d_y$, $A_{yy}$, $A_{xx}$, $A_{xz}$ and the differential cross-section for elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering at incident deuteron energies 270 and 880 MeV in lab is presented. A comparison of the calculations with two different deuteron wave-functions derived from the Bonn-CD $NN$-potential model and the dressed bag quark model is carried out. A model-independent approach, based on an optical potential framework, is used in which a nucleon-nucleon $T$-matrix is assumed to be local and taken on the energy shell, but still depends on the…
Binding energies of ^{3}H, ^{4}He, and ^{16}O are calculated, using low-momentum nucleon-nucleon interactions (V_{low-k}) for a wide range of the cutoff momentum Λ. In addition, single-particle energies in nuclei around ^{16}O are computed. The dependence of the binding energies and the single-particle energies in these nuclei on the cutoff momentum Λof the V_{low-k} is examined. Furthermore, the availability of the V_{low-k} in nuclear structure calculations is discussed.
An overview of recent results with CLAS is presented with emphasis on nucleon resonance studies, nucleon spin structure, and generalized parton distributions.
This paper presents reaction cross section predictions. These predictions are the result of a continuous pipeline which originates from a microscopic nuclear interaction. Density parameters and effective nucleon-nucleon cross sections (both involved in the reaction calculations) are by-products of the same equation of state. First, we perform tests of sensitivity to medium effects using reactions involving 208-Pb, a stable but weakly isospin-asymmetric nucleus. We also show predictions for collisions of some neutron-rich isotopes of Calcium and Argon. We observe significant sensitivity of the …
Based on the Isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (IBUU) transport model, the in-medium nucleon-nucleon inelastic scattering ( which is dominated by pion production at low and intermediate energies) is explored. It is found that the in-medium modification of nucleon-nucleon inelastic scatterings appears to reduce the neutron to proton ratio n/p at higher kinetic energies. Although the in-medium modification of nucleon-nucleon inelastic scatterings, as expected, affects the value of $π^-/π^+$ ratio, considering a series of undetermined properties of delta resonance and $π$ in medium, t…
Within the framework of ImQMD05, we study several isospin sensitive observables, such as DR(n/p) ratios, isospin transport ratio (isospin diffusion), yield ratios for LCPs between the projectile region and mid-rapidity region for the reaction systems Ni+Ni, Zn+Zn, Sn+Sn at low-intermediate energies. Our results show that those observables are sensitive to the density dependence of symmetry energy, and also depend on the cluster formation mechanism. By comparing these calculations to the data, the information of the symmetry energy and reaction mechanism is obtained.
Status, open questions, and future prospects of the physics of excited nucleons are discussed. Emphasis is on the study of the structure of nucleons via measurements of their electromagnetic transition form factors, the search for "missing" resonances, the spin structure of the nucleon in the resonance region, and connections between the resonance and the deep-inelastic regimes.
The effect of different isospin-dependent cross-section on directed flow is studied for variety of systems(for which experimental balance energies are available) using an isospin-dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamic (IQMD) model. We show that balance energies are sensitive towards isospin-dependent cross-sections for light systems, while nearly no effect exist for heavier nuclei. A reduced cross-section $σ= 0.9σ_{NN}$ with stiff equation of state is able to explain experimental balance energies in most of systems. A power law behaviour is also given for the mass dependence of balance energy, wh…
A high-precision test of the Glauber formula for the amplitude of nucleon-deuteron scattering is performed. Nucleon-nucleon amplitudes used in the calculations depend on the spins of interacting particles, phase shifts, and mixing parameters. These amplitudes were derived by using the Nijmegen potentials. The differential cross sections for nucleon-deuteron scattering were calculated for the projectile-nucleon energies of 65, 95, 135, 150, 190, and 250~MeV, and the results of these calculations were compared with experimental data.
We perform ab initio calculations for nuclei around ^{16}O, ^{40}Ca, and ^{56}Ni using realistic nucleon-nucleon forces. In particular, ^{56}Ni is computed as the heaviest nucleus in this kind of ab initio calculation. Ground-state and single-particle energies including three-body-cluster effects are obtained within the framework of the unitary-model-operator approach. It is shown that the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential gives quite good results close to the experimental values for all nuclei in the present work.
We investigate the influence of phenomenological three-nucleon interactions on the systematics of ground-state energies and charge radii throughout the whole nuclear mass range from 4-He to 208-Pb. The three-nucleon interactions supplement unitarily transformed two-body interactions constructed within the Unitary Correlation Operator Method or the Similarity Renormalization Group approach. To be able to address heavy nuclei as well, we treat the many-body problem in Hartree-Fock plus many-body perturbation theory, which is sufficient to assess the systematics of energies and radii, and limit o…
The model suggested by Love and Franey for description of the nucleon-nucleon interaction was used as the base. The new fitting of the model parameters was done in the energy range from 100 MeV up to 1100 MeV. It is based on the modern partial-wave-analysis solution for NN-amplitudes. The three observables: differential cross section, vector analyzing power, and spin correlation coefficient -- were obtained at every energy. The results are compared with existing the experimental data.
We investigate $ϕ$ meson electroproduction to probe the hidden strangeness content of the nucleon. We found that even a small amount of the $s\bar{s}$ admixture in the nucleon wavefunction can lead to a significant change in several double polarization asymmetries in $ϕ$ electroproduction, which can be tested experimentally at current electron facilities.
We apply our method of complex scaling, valid for a general class of potentials, in a search for nucleon-nucleon S-matrix poles up to 2 GeV laboratory kinetic energy. We find that the realistic potentials JISP16, constructed from inverse scattering, and chiral field theory potentials N$^3$LO and N$^2$LO$_{opt}$ support resonances in energy regions well above their fit regions. In some cases these resonances have widths that are narrow when compared with the real part of the S-matrix pole.
We have developed a model for the N N --> N N pi pi reaction and evaluated cross sections for the different charged channels. The low energy part of those channels where the pions can be in an isospin zero state is dominated by N* excitation, driven by an isoscalar source followed by the decay N* --> N (pi pi, T=0, s-wave). At higher energies, and in channels where the pions are not in T=0, Delta excitation mechanisms become relevant.
The description of electromagnetic interactions with hadrons from the quark level requires knowledge of the underlying quark-gluon ingredients. I discuss some properties of the quark-photon vertex and quark Compton vertex, along with the role of electromagnetic gauge invariance and vector-meson dominance. A simple parametrization for the quark-photon vertex is given.
The molecular dynamics study of fragmentation in peripheral $^{197}$Au +$^{197}$Au collisions at 35 MeV/nucleon is presented to probe the nuclear matter compressibility in low density regime. The yields of different fragment species, rapidity spectra, and multiplicities of charged particles with charge $3\leq Z \leq 80$ are analyzed at different peripheral geometries employing a soft and a hard equations of state. Fragment productions is found to be quite insensitive towards the choice of nucleon-nucleon cross sections allowing us to constrain nuclear matter compressibility. Comparison of calc…
Nucleon drift and diffusion mechanisms in central collisions of asymmetric heavy-ions at near-barrier energies are investigated in the framework of a stochastic mean-field approach. Expressions for diffusion and drift coefficients for nucleon transfer deduced from the stochastic mean-field approach in the semiclassical approximation have similar forms familiar from the phenomenological nucleon exchange model. The variance of fragment mass distribution agrees with the empirical formula $σ^2_{AA}(t)= N_{\rm exc}(t)$. The comparison with the time-dependent Hartree-Fock calculations shows that, be…
The binding energies of the ground states and several excited states related to single-particle and -hole states in nuclei around ^{16}O are calculated taking charge dependence into account. Effective interactions on the particle basis are constructed from modern charge-dependent nucleon-nucleon interactions and the Coulomb force within the framework of the unitary-model-operator approach. Single-particle (-hole) energies are obtained from the energy differences of the binding energies between a particle (hole) state in ^{17}O or ^{17}F (^{15}N or ^{15}O) and the ground state of ^{16}O. The re…
A microscopic calculation of Compton scattering on the nucleon is presented which encompasses the lowest energies -- yielding nucleon polarizabilities -- and extends to energies of the order of 600 MeV. We have used the covariant "Dressed K-Matrix Model" obeying the symmetry properties which are appropriate in the different energy regimes. In particular, crossing symmetry, gauge invariance and unitarity are satisfied. The extent of violation of analyticity (causality) is used as an expansion parameter.
We present a complete systematic theoretical study of multifragmentation for asymmetric colliding nuclei for heavy-ion reactions in the energy range between 50 MeV/nucleon and 1000 MeV/nucleon by using isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model. We have observed an interesting outcome for asymmetric colliding nuclei. The comparison between the symmetric and asymmetric colliding nuclei for the isospin independent cross section and isospin dependent cross section has been studied. We have found the pronounced effect of different cross section and mass asymmetry on the nuclear reac…
Within a transport model we search for potential probes of the isospin dependence of the in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross sections. Traditional measures of the nuclear stopping power are found sensitive to the magnitude but they are ambiguous for determining the isospin dependence of the in-medium NN cross sections. It is shown that isospin tracers, such as the neutron/proton ratio of free nucleons, at backward rapidities/angles in nuclear reactions induced by radioactive beams in inverse kinematics is a sensitive probe of the isospin dependence of the in-medium NN cross sections. At forwa…
A new version of the separable kernel of the nucleon-nucleon interaction in the Bethe-Salpeter approach is presented. The phase shifts are fitted to recent experimental data for singlet and uncoupled triplet partial waves of the neutron-proton scattering with total angular momenta J=0,1. The results are compared with other model calculations.
Meson production cross sections in ultra-peripheral relativistic heavy ion collisions at LHC are revisited. The relevance of meson models and of exotic QCD states is discussed. This study includes states that have not been considered before in the literature.
Within the key issues of hadronic physics one of the interesting issues in nuclear physics is whether there is a transition region between meson-nucleon and quark-gluon degrees of freedom in the NN interaction. This question is relevant for pairs of free nucleons as well as for nucleon pairs immersed in nuclear matter. From NN phase shifts we deduce a dibaryonic scale of 1 GeV for the soft core NN potential strengths at nucleon separation r equal 0.25 to 0.5 fm. A short range intermediate transition, with fusion and fission of the two scattered nucleons into a dibaryon with prevailing quark-gl…
We discuss the effective field theory approach to nuclear phenomena with typical momentum below the pion mass. We particularly focus on the three body problem. In the $J=3/2$ channel, effective field theory is extremelly predictive and we are able to describe the nucleon-deuteron scattering amplitude at the percent level using only two parameters obtained from nucleon-nucleon scattering. We briefly comment onthe $J=1/2$ channel and the issues related to the non-perturbative renormalization of the three body force.
The elliptic flow for $Z\le2$ particles in heavy ion collisions at energies from several tens to several hundreds MeV per nucleon is investigated by means of transport model,i.e. a new version of the Improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics model (ImQMD05). In this model, a complete Skyrme potential energy density functional is employed. The influence of different effective interactions and medium corrections of nucleon-nucleon cross sections on the elliptic flow are studied. Our results show that a soft nuclear equation of state and incident energy dependent in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross section…

We report on our recent self-consistent calculations of $K^-$ nuclear quasi-bound states using $K^-$ optical potentials derived from chirally motivated meson-baryon coupled channels models [1,2]. The $K^-$ single-nucleon potentials were supplemented by a phenomenological $K^-$ multi-nucleon interaction term introduced to achieve good fits to $K^-$ atom data. We demonstrate a substantial impact of the $K^-$ multi-nucleon absorption on the widths of $K^-$ nuclear states. If such states ever exist in nuclear many-body systems, their widths are excessively large to allow observation.
The real part of the optical potential for the nucleon-nucleus scattering at lower energies (E_i<100MeV) has been calculated including nucleonic and mesonic form factors by a double folding approach. Realistic density- and energy-dependent effective NN-interactions DDM3Y, BDM3Y and HLM3Y based on the Reid and Paris potentials are used in this respect. The effects of the nucleon density distribution and the average relative momentum on the folded potential have been analysed. A good agreement with the phenomenological potential of Lagrange-Lejeune, as well as with the parametrization of Jeukenn…
Within a transport code simulation for heavy-ion collisions at bombarding energies around 1 AGeV, we demonstrate that double-differential di-electron spectra with suitable kinematical cuts are useful to isolate (i) the $ρ$ meson peak even in case of strong broadening, and (ii) the in-medium $ω$ decay contribution. The expected in-medium modifications of the vector meson spectral densities can thus be probed in this energy range via the di-electron channel.
We study the electrodisintegration of deuteron at quasi-elastic kinematics and high transferred momentum as a probe for the short distance structure in nuclei. In this reaction, an electron hits a nucleus of deuterium, which breaks up into a proton-neutron pair. We focus our attention on events where fast nucleons emerge, corresponding to nuclear configurations where the bound nucleons have a high relative momentum (exceeding 700 MeV/c). The present research is relevant to physical systems where high-density nuclear matter is present. This condition covers a wide range of physics, from neutron…
The relativistic Hartree approximation predicts a deep attractive potential for antinucleon, which largely reduce the threshold energies of the nucleon-antinucleon (N-Nbar) production. This effect has played an important role to explain the quenching of the Gamow-Teller (GT) strength because the quenched strength in the particle-hole excitation is partially taken by the nucleon-antinucleon production. On the other hand antiproton experiments do not reveal deep attractive potential for antinucleon. In this paper we study energy-dependence of the nucleon self-energies in the relativistic Hartree…
A model describing nuclear collisions at intermediate energies is presented and the results are compared with recently measured double differential cross sections in C-C reactions at 95 MeV/nucleon. Results show the key role played by geometrical effects and the memory of the entrance channel, in particular the momentum distributions of the two incoming nuclei. Special attention is paid to the description of processes occurring at mid-rapidity. To this end, a random particle production mechanism by means of a coalescence process in velocity space is considered in the overlap region of the two …
We investigate the Coulomb excitation of low-lying states of unstable nuclei in intermediate energy collisions ($E_{lab}\sim10-500$ MeV/nucleon). It is shown that the cross sections for the $E1$ and $E2$ transitions are larger at lower energies, much less than 10 MeV/nucleon. Retardation effects and Coulomb distortion are found to be both relevant for energies as low as 10 MeV/nucleon and as high as 500 MeV/nucleon. Implications for studies at radioactive beam facilities are discussed.
Within the framework of semiclassical Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) transport model, we investigated the effects of symmetry energy on the sub-threshold pion using the isospin MDI interaction with the stiff and soft symmetry energies in the central collision of $^{48}$Ca + $^{48}$Ca at the incident beam energies of 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 MeV/nucleon, respectively. We find that the ratio of $π^{-}/π^{+}$ of sub-threshold charged pion production is greatly sensitive to the symmetry energy, particularly around 100 MeV/nucleon energies. Large sensitivity of sub-threshold charged pion produ…
We study the possibility to constrain the hidden strangeness content of the nucleon by means of the polarization observables in phi meson electroproduction. We consider the OZI evading direct knockout mechanism that arises from the non-vanishing s\bar{s} sea quark admixture of the nucleon as well as the background of the dominant diffractive and the one-boson-exchange processes. Large sensitivity on the nucleon strangeness are found in several beam-target and beam-recoil double polarization observables. The small \sqrt{s} and W region, which is accesible at some of the current high-energy elec…
Spin observables in radiative neutron capture on a proton and its inverse process, photodisintegration of the deuteron are calculated using a pionless effective field theory with di-baryon fields. Good agreement with the results of existing standard nuclear physics approach is obtained at very low energies. As energy increases, however, the discrepancy between the effective field theory and the standard nuclear physics approach becomes substantial. We discuss the origin of the difference.
We calculate the nucleon parameters in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter using the QCD sum rules. The nucleon self-energies are expressed in terms of the in-medium values of QCD condensates. The simple approximate expressions for the self-energies are obtained in terms of these condensates. Relation between successive inclusion of the condensates and the meson-exchange picture of the nucleon interaction with medium is analyzed. The values of the self-energies and of the symmetry energy agree with those obtained by the methods of nuclear physics.
In the framework of the isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck transport model, sensitive regions of some nucleon observables to the nuclear symmetry energy are studied. It is found that the symmetry energy sensitive observable n/p ratio in the $^{132}$Sn+$^{124}$Sn reaction at 0.3 GeV/nucleon in fact just probes the density-dependent symmetry energy below the density of $1.5ρ_0$ and effectively probes the density-dependent symmetry energy around or somewhat below the saturation density. Nucleon elliptic flow can probe the symmetry energy from the low-density region to the high-density …
The spin-orbit splittings in the spectra of nuclei with mass numbers 5, 15 and 17 are studied within the framework of shell-model configuration mixing calculations including 2$\hbar ω$ excitations. The contributions of the two-body spin-orbit and tensor components of the nucleon-nucleon interaction are studied in various model spaces. It is found that the effects of the two-body spin-orbit interaction are dominant and quite sensitive to the size of the model-space considered. The effects of the tensor interaction are weaker. The correlations effects which are included in the larger (0+2) $\hba…
The nucleon single-particle energies (SPEs) of the selected nuclei, that is, 16O, 40Ca, and 56Ni, are obtained by using the diagonal matrix elements of two-body effective interaction, which generated through the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) calculations for the symmetric nuclear matter with the AV18 phenomenological nucleon-nucleon potential. The SPEs at the major levels of nuclei are calculated by employing a Hartree-Fock inspired scheme in the spherical harmonic oscillator basis. In the scheme, the correlation influences are taken into account by imposing the nucleon effective…
Coulomb displacement energies, i.e., the differences between the energies of corresponding nuclear states in mirror nuclei, are evaluated using recent models for the nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction. These modern NN potentials account for breaking of isospin symmetry and reproduce $pp$ and $pn$ phase shifts accurately. The predictions by these new potentials for the binding of $^{16}O$ are calculated. A particular focus of our study are effects due to nuclear correlations and charge-symmetry breaking (CSB). We find that the CSB terms in the modern NN interactions substantially reduce the discr…
We study elastic proton-nucleus scattering at intermediate energies. The nucleon-nucleus optical potential is derived from the Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential and the Dirac-Brueckner approach for nuclear matter. Our calculations, which do not contain any adjustable parameters, yield good agreement with experiment.
We demonstrate that the binding energies and widths of eta-mesic nuclei depend strongly on subthreshold eta-N interaction. This strong dependence is made evident from comparing three different eta-nucleus optical potentials: (1) a microscopic optical potential taking into account the full effects of off-shell eta-nucleon interactions; (2) a factorization approximation to the microscopic optical potential where a downward energy shift parameter is introduced to approximate the subthreshold eta-nucleon interaction; and (3) an optical potential using on-shell eta-nucleon scattering length as the …
We propose a means to detect the nucleon strange quark-antiquark asymmetry, which is predicted as a non-perturbative effect, but still unchecked directly by available experiments. The difference for the $D(c\bar{q})$ and $\bar{D}(\bar{c}q)$ meson production cross sections in neutrino and antineutrino induced charged current deep inelastic scattering is illustrated to be sensitive to the nucleon strange asymmetry. Prospect is given and the effect due to the light quark fragmentation is also discussed for the extraction of the strange asymmetry in future experiments.
The interpretation of recent Jlab experimental data on the exclusive process A(e,e'p)B off few-nucleon systems are analyzed in terms of realistic nuclear wave functions and Glauber multiple scattering theory, both in its original form and within a generalized eikonal approximation. The relevance of the exclusive process 4He(e,e'p)^3H for possible investigations of QCD effects is illustrated.
Radiative capture of nucleons at energies of astrophysical interest is one of the most important processes for nucleosynthesis. The nucleon capture can occur either by a compound nucleus reaction or by a direct process. The compound reaction cross sections are usually very small, specially for light nuclei. The direct capture proceeds either via the formation of a single-particle resonance, or a non-resonant capture process. In this work we calculate radiative capture cross sections and astrophysical S-factors for nuclei in the mass region A<20 using single-particle states. We carefully discus…
Based on the relativistic transport model ART with the hadronic equation of state extended to have a phase transition via the use of the MIT bag model, properties of phase transition of dense nuclear matter formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are investigated. Proton sideward and directed flows are calculated with different equation of states in Au + Au collisions at beam energies of 2, 4, 6 and 8 GeV/nucleon. Compared with AGS experimental data in existence, the boundary of first-order phase transition is roughly confined, i.e., in the range of 2.5-4 times saturation density with temp…
