We present sufficient conditions for multicasting a set of correlated sources over cooperative networks. We propose joint source-Wyner-Ziv encoding/sliding-window decoding scheme, in which each receiver considers an ordered partition of other nodes. Subject to this scheme, we obtain a set of feasibility constraints for each ordered partition. We consolidate the results of different ordered partitions by utilizing a result of geometrical approach to obtain the sufficient conditions. We observe that these sufficient conditions are indeed necessary conditions for Aref networks. As a consequence of the main result, we obtain an achievable rate region for networks with multicast demands. Also, we deduce an achievability result for two-way relay networks, in which two nodes want to communicate over a relay network.

Moreover, our results reflect more details about the high-order terms of the coding rate. The redundancy is investigated for both fixed-rate and variable-rate cases. The normal approximation (or dispersion) can also be obtained with minor modification.
We provide a novel achievability proof of the Slepian-Wolf theorem for i.i.d. sources over finite alphabets. We demonstrate that random codes that are linear over the real field achieve the classical Slepian-Wolf rate-region. For finite alphabets we show that typicality decoding is equivalent to solving an integer program. Minimum entropy decoding is also shown to achieve exponentially small probability of error. The techniques used may be of independent interest for code design for a wide class of information theory problems, and for the field of compressed sensing.

Correlated sources are present in communication systems where protocols ensure that there is some predetermined information for sources. Here correlated sources across an eavesdropped channel that incorporate a heterogeneous encoding scheme and their effect on the information leakage when some channel information and a source have been wiretapped is investigated. The information leakage bounds for the Slepian-Wolf scenario are provided. Thereafter, the Shannon cipher system approach is presented. Further, an implementation method using a matrix partition approach is described.
In distributed multilevel diversity coding, $K$ correlated sources (each with $K$ components) are encoded in a distributed manner such that, given the outputs from any $α$ encoders, the decoder can reconstruct the first $α$ components of each of the corresponding $α$ sources. For this problem, the optimality of a multilayer Slepian-Wolf coding scheme based on binning and superposition is established when $K\leq 3$. The same conclusion is shown to hold for general $K$ under a certain symmetry condition, which generalizes a celebrated result by Yeung and Zhang.
In this paper, we consider different aspects of the network functional compression problem where computation of a function (or, some functions) of sources located at certain nodes in a network is desired at receiver(s). The rate region of this problem has been considered in the literature under certain restrictive assumptions, particularly in terms of the network topology, the functions and the characteristics of the sources. The Gallager bound is well known in the area of channel coding. However, most discussions about it mainly focus on its applications to memoryless channels. We show in this paper that the bounds obtained by Gallager's method are very tight even for general sources and channels that are defined in the information-spectrum theory. Our method is mainly based on the estimations of error exponents in those bounds, and by these estimations we proved the direct part of the Slepian-Wolf theorem and channel coding theorem for general sources and channels.
