The existence of a light S=+1 baryon resonance follows from Quantum Field Theory applied to baryons. This is illustrated in the Skyrme model (where Theta+ exists but is too strong) and in a new mean field approach where Theta+ arises as a consequence of three known resonances: Lambda(1405), N(1440) and N(1535).
The relativistic five-quark equations are found in the framework of the dispersion relation technique. The solutions of these equations using the method based on the extraction of the leading singularities of the amplitudes are obtained. The five-quark amplitudes for the low-lying pentaquarks including the u, d, s- quarks are calculated. The poles of these amplitudes determine the masses of Theta-pentaquarks. The mass spectra of the isotensor Theta-pentaquarks are calculated.
We construct a chiral lagrangian for pentaquark baryons assuming that the recently found Theta^+ (1540) state belongs to an antidecuplet of SU(3) flavor symmetry with J^P = (1/2)^(+-). We derive the Gell-Mann-Okubo formulae for the antidecuplet baryon masses, and a possible mixing between the antidecuplet and the pentaquark octet. Then we calculate the cross sections for pi^- p -> K^- Theta^+ and gamma n -> K^- Theta^+ using our chiral lagrangian. The resulting amplitudes respect the underlying chiral symmetry of QCD correctly. We also describe how to include the light vector mesons in the chi…
Recent reports about the Theta+ (formerly known as Z+), a pentaquark state, have awakened considerable interest. We report our findings in search of a Theta++ state over a wide range in mass in the reaction gp-->Theta++K- from our analysis of CLAS data. The existence or nonexistence of this state might resolve the question of the isotensor states.
Assuming the two diquark structure for the pentaquark state as advocated in the Jaffe-Wilczek model, there exist exotic parity-even anti-sextet and parity-odd triplet heavy pentaquark baryons. The theoretical estimate of charmed and bottom pentaquark masses is quite controversial and it is not clear whether the ground-state heavy pentaquark lies above or below the strong-decay threshold. We study the weak transitions of heavy pentaquark states using the light-front quark model. In the heavy quark limit, heavy-to-heavy pentaquark transition form factors can be expressed in terms of three Isgur-…
H1 Collaboration recently observed the charmed pentaquark. In this short note, we point out that the dominant production mechanism for pentaquark consisting of a heavy quark is heavy quark fragmentation. We obtain a crude estimate on the fragmentation probability for charm quark into Theta_c^0, based on the known fragmentation probabilities of charm quark into mesons and baryons: f(c-bar --> Theta_c^0) =~ (2-7) x 10^{-3}. Similarly, we also obtain the fragmentation probability for bottom quark into Theta_b^+: f(b-bar --> Theta_b^+) =~ (5-20) x 10^{-3}. We also estimate the prospect of observin…
We calculate the width of the Theta(1540) pentaquark in a relativistic model in which the pentaquark is considered to be composed of a scalar diquark and a spin 1/2 triquark. We consider both positive and negative parity for the pentaquark. There is a single parameter in our model which we vary and which describes the size of the pentaquark. If the pentaquark size is somewhat smaller than that of the nucleon, we find quite small widths for the pentaquark of about 1 MeV or less. Our model of confinement plays an important role in our analysis and makes it possible to use Feynman diagrams to des…
Although the Theta has been listed as a three star resonance in the 2004 PDG,its existence is still not completely established. Now it is still of interest to see what QCD has to say on the subject, In this paper we review briefly the pentaquark Theta properties.
Long-standing anomalies in K^+ nucleus integral cross sections could be resolved by extending the impulse-approximation t*rho optical-potential framework to incorporate K^+ absorption on pairs of nucleons. Substantially improved fits to the data at p(lab)=500-700 MeV/c are obtained. An upper bound of 3.5 mb for the absorption cross section of K^+ per nucleon is derived. We conjecture that the underlying microscopic absorption process is K^+ n N --> Theta^+ N, where Theta^+(1540) is the newly discovered exotic Y=2, I=0, Z=1 pentaquark baryon, and estimate that the cross section for K^+ d --> Th…
The relativistic generalization of Faddeev-Yakubovsky approach is constructed in the form of the dispersion relations. The five-quark amplitudes for the low-lying pentaquarks contain u,d,s-quarks. The poles of these amplitudes determine the masses and widths of Theta-pentaquarks.
The Theta+(1540), recently observed at LEPS, DIANA and CLAS, is hypothesized to be an isotensor resonance. This implies the existence of a multiplet where the Theta++, Theta+ and Theta0 have isospin-violating strong decays, and the Theta+++ and Theta- have weak decays and so are long-lived. Production mechanisms for these states are discussed. The J^P assignment of the Theta is most likely 1/2^- or 3/2^-.
Further consequences of the 1540 MeV Theta+ resonance as an isotensor pentaquark beyond Capstick et al. are explored. It is argued that the SAPHIR data may not currently exclude the existence of the charged partner Theta++. The usual prediction of the dominance of non-resonant Theta+ K, and Theta+ K*, final states in photoproduction on the proton is argued not to obtain for an isotensor Theta+. This enhances the importance of excited baryon final states, where the excited baryon decays to Theta+ K or Theta+ K*; as well as the non-resonant Theta+ K pi final state. The small width of the recentl…
We suggest to classify baryon resonances as single-quark states in a mean field, and/or as its collective excitations. Identifying the Roper resonance N(1440), the nucleon resonance N(1535), and the singlet hyperon Lambda(1405) as single-quark excitations, we find that there must be an exotic S=+1 baryon resonance Theta+ (the "pentaquark") with a mass about 1440+1535-1405=1570 MeV and spin-parity one-half-plus. We argue that Theta+ is an analog of the Gamov--Teller excitation long known in nuclear physics.
The newly observed $Θ^+$ resonance is believed to be a pentaquark with the constituent quarks $uudd\bar s$. There are a few options for the constituent quark structure. Some advocate diquark-diquark-antiquark $(ud)$-$(ud)$-$\bar s$ while others favor diquark-triquark $(ud)$-$(ud\bar s)$. We use the color-spin hyperfine interaction to examine the energy levels of these structures, and we find that the diquark-diquark-antiquark structure is slight favored. We proceed to write down the flavor triplet and antisextet of the charmed or bottomed exotic baryons with internal $qqqq\bar Q$ quarks. We al…
We examine several assignments of spin and parity for the pentaquark Theta+ state (J^P=1/2^{+,-}, 3/2^{+,-}) in connection with known baryon resonances. Assuming that the Theta+ belongs to an antidecuplet representation which mixes with an octet, we calculate the mass spectra of the flavor partners of the Theta+ based on the SU(3) symmetry. The decay widths of the Theta+ and nucleon partners are analyzed for the consistency check of the mixing angle obtained from the masses. It is found that a suitable choice of the mixing angle successfully reproduces the observed masses of Theta(1540) and Xi…
The production of strange pentaquark states (e.g. Theta baryons and Xi^-- states) in hadronic interactions within a Gribov-Regge approach is explored. In this approach the Theta^+(1540) and the Xi Pentaquark are produced by disintegration of remnants formed by the exchange of pomerons between the two protons. We predict the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions as well as the 4 pi multiplicity of the Theta^+, Xi^--, Xi^-, Xi^0 and Xi^+ for sqrt{s} = 17 GeV (SPS) and 200 GeV (RHIC). For both energies more than 10^{-3} Theta^+ and more than 10^{-5} Xi per pp event should be observed by …
We perform a QCD sum rule analysis for the pentaquark baryon Theta^+ with the non-interacting $KN$ contribution treated carefully. The coupling of the Theta^+ current to the $KN$ state is evaluated by applying the soft kaon theorem and vacuum saturation. When using a five-quark current including scalar and pseudo-scalar diquarks, the KN contribution turns out not to be very important and the previous result of the negative parity Theta^+ is reproduced again. The Borel analysis of the correlation function for Theta^+ with the KN continuum states subtracted yields the mass of the J^P= 1/2^- Thet…
With the recent discovery of the $Θ(1540)$ pentaquark, the question of its parity is paramount since this will constrain the correct description of its internal structure. We show that the measurement of the spin singlet and triplet cross sections for the reaction $\vec{p}\vec{p} \to Σ^+ Θ^+$ will unambiguously determine the parity of the $Θ^+$.
We discuss the implications of the suggested interpretation of the recently reported narrow pi N resonance (width \approx 25 MeV at 1680 MeV) as a pentaquark in the same multiplet as the Theta+. We consider a diquark-triquark pentaquark model involving a recoupling of the five quarks into a diquark-triquark system in non-standard color representations. We estimate the mass using a well-tested simple mass formula. Our rough numerical estimate puts the pi N pentaquark resonance at 1720 MeV, sufficiently close to the reported value of 1680 MeV to indicate that this approach deserves further more …
We study the photoproduction of the exotic pentaquark Theta^+ baryon with the vector kaon, assuming that the quantum numbers of the Theta^+ to be J^P=3/2^(+-) and J^P=1/2^+. Scalar meson kappa(800)-exchange is also taken into account. In contrast with the gamma N -> Kbar Theta^+(3/2^(+-)) process, the large suppression from the proton target is not observed in the total cross sections. We also suggest a method to determine which meson exchange is the most dominant by analyzing the polarizations of incident photon and outgoing K^*. We find that kappa-exchange turns out to be prominent when the …
We present a model for the formation of the charmed pentaquark Theta_c in hard scattering processes such as deep inelastic scattering, e^+e^- annihilation, and high-energy p pbar collisions. The model assumes that the cross section for Theta_c formation is proportional to the rate of production of p D^{*-} (or pbar D^{*+}) pairs in close proximity both in momentum space and in coordinate space. The constant of proportionality is determined from the Theta_c cross section in deep inelastic scattering as reported by the H1 experiment. The HERWIG Monte Carlo is used to generate simulated DIS event…
We study determination of the parity of the pentaquark baryons in two different processes. First, we investigate the Theta^+ production via the vec{p} vec{p} -> Sigma^+ Theta^+ reaction process which was proposed to determine unambiguously the parity of Theta^+. We observe the clear differences in the total cross sections and the spin observable A_{xx}. As for the Xi_5 in the bar{K} N -> K Xi_5 reaction process, the total cross section for the positive parity presents about one hundred times lager than that of the negative one due to the huge destructive interference.
Production cross sections of the pentaquark Theta+ baryon in the meson-induced reactions are calculated for JP=1/2+- and 3/2+- cases. Through the comparison with the previous measurements at KEK, several quantum numbers are excluded. The remaining possibilities can be used to cast the upper limit on the Theta+ width, combining with the result from the J-PARC E19 experiment.
Exclusive electroproduction of a K or K* meson on the nucleon can give a Theta+ pentaquark in the final state. This reaction offers an opportunity to investigate the structure of pentaquark baryons at parton level. We discuss the generalized parton distributions for the N-->Theta+ transition and give the leading order amplitude for electroproduction in the Bjorken regime. Different production channels contain complementary information about the distribution of partons in a pentaquark compared with their distribution in the nucleon. Measurement of these processes may thus provide deeper insight…
We study the Theta+(1540) discovered at SPring-8. We apply Quark Model techniques, that explain with success the repulsive hard core of nucleon-nucleon and kaon-nucleon exotic scattering, and the short range attraction present in pion-nucleon and pion-pion non-exotic scattering. We find a K-N repulsion which excludes the Theta+ as a K-N s-wave pentaquark. We explore the Theta+ as a crypto-heptaquark, equivalent to a K-pi-N borromean boundstate, with positive parity and total isospin I=0. The attraction is provided by the pion-nucleon and pion-kaon interactions. The other candidates to pentaqua…
We propose a collective stringlike model of pentaquarks with the geometry of an equilateral tetrahedron in which the four quarks are located at the four corners and the antiquark in its center. The nonplanar equilibrium configuration is a consequence of the permutation symmetry of the four quarks. In an application to the spectrum of exotic Theta baryons, we find that the ground state pentaquark has angular momentum and parity J(p)=1/2(-) and a small magnetic moment of 0.382 nuclear magnetons. The decay width is suppressed by the spatial overlap with the decay products.
We investigate two exclusive reactions with a Theta+ pentaquark in the final state: electroproduction of a K meson on the nucleon, and K+ scattering on a neutron target producing a lepton pair. These reactions offer unique opportunities to investigate the structure of pentaquark baryons at parton level. We discuss the generalized parton distributions for the N --> Theta+ transition and give the leading order amplitude for these processes in the Bjorken regime.
In a conventional covark model we constructed the Theta pentaquark wave function using vector diquarks and calculating the mass spectrum of this exotic pentaquark.
The recent developments in the search of exotic pentaquark hadrons are briefly reviewed. We then focus on investigating how the exotic pentaquark $Θ(1540)$ baryon production can be identified in the $γN \to K \bar{K} N$ reactions, focusing on the influence of the background (non-$Θ$ production) mechanisms. By imposing the SU(3) symmetry and using various quark model predictions, we are able to fix the coupling constants for evaluating the kaon backgrounds, the $K\bar{K}$ production through the intermediate vector meson and tensor meson photoproduction, and the mechanisms involving intermediate…
Motivated by the recent experimental evidence of the exotic B = S = +1 baryonic state Theta(1540), we examine the older existing data on K+ N elastic scattering through the time delay method. We find positive peaks in time delay around 1.545 and 1.6 GeV in the D03 and P01 partial waves of K+ N scattering respectively, in agreement with experiments. We also find an indication of the J=3/2 Theta* spin-orbit partner to the Theta, in the P03 partial wave at 1.6 GeV. We discuss the pros and contras of these findings in support of the interpretation of these peaks as possible exotics.
The status of the search for pentaquark baryons is reviewed in light of new results from the first two dedicated experiments from CLAS at Jefferson Lab and of new analyses from several laboratories on the $Theta^+(1540)$. Evidence for and against two heavier pentaquark states is also discussed.
The pentaquark state of $Θ^{+}(uudd\bar{s})$ has been observed to decay with two decay modes: $Θ^+\to n K^+$ and $Θ^+ \to p K^0$. The decay probability ratio of the two decay modes is studied with general symmetry consideration of isospin, spin, and parity. We arrive at a result of the ratio $\frac{Γ(Θ^+\to nK^+)}{Γ(Θ^+\to pK^0)} =\frac{(α-β)^2}{(α+β)^2}(\frac{k_1}{k_2})^{2L+1}$, which is valid for the $Θ^+$ state to be a pure isoscalar or isovector state, or an isoscalar and isovector mixing state, or an isotensor state with mixture of isoscalar and isovector components with coefficients $α$ …
Exclusive electroproduction of a K or K^* meson on the nucleon can give a Theta^+ pentaquark in the final state. This reaction offers an opportunity to investigate the structure of pentaquark baryons at parton level. We discuss the generalized parton distributions for the N -> Theta^+ transition and give the leading order amplitude for electroproduction in the Bjorken regime.
Additional broader I=0 states in the KN channel near $Θ^+$(1540) are expected in many models, making the absence of any signature in the K$^+$-deuteron scattering data even more puzzling. In an ideal "three-body" picture the $Θ$ is viewed as two compact ud(1)ud(2) $\bar{3}$ color diquarks and an $\bar{s}$ quark. A "QCD-type" inequality involving $m(Θ^+), m(Λ)$, the mass of the $Λ(1/2^-) $ L=1 excitation and that of a new I=0 tetraquark vector meson then follows. The inequality suggests a very light new vector meson, and is violated. We note that "associated production" of the pentaquark with a…
Photoproduction of the Theta+ pentaquark on the proton is analyzed by using an isobar and a Regge models. The difference in the calculated total cross section is found to be more than two orders of magnitude for a hadronic form factor cut-off Lambda > 1 GeV. Comparable results would be obtained for 0.6 < Lambda < 0.8 GeV. We also calculate contribution of the Theta+ photoproduction to the GDH integral. By comparing with the current phenomenological calculation, it is found that the GDH sum rule favors the result obtained from Regge approach and isobar model with small Lambda.
A variety of nuclear and hadron physics experiments are being performed using meson beams at the J-PARC Hadron Facility. As the first experiment at the facility, the pentaquark Theta+ was searched for in the pi- p -> K- X reaction with a missing-mass resolution of 2 MeV (FWHM). The number of accumulated beam pions are 7.8x10^10 and 8.1x10^10 for different beam momenta of 1.92 and 2.01 GeV/c, respectively. No significant structure was observed in the missing mass spectra. Upper limits of the production cross section are obtained to be 0.28ub/sr in the laboratory frame at 90% confidence level fo…
In this work we investigate the consequences of the Jaffe and Wilczek diquark model in the framework of QCD sum rules. An analysis of the Theta^+(1540) as (ud)^2\bar{s} state shows that the mass of the pentaquark is compatible with the experimentally measured value. The mass difference between the Theta^+ and the pentaquark with the quantum numbers of the nucleon amounts to 70 MeV and is consistent with the interpretation of the N(1440) as a pentaquark.
In this work we study the Theta(1540) in the framework of QCD sum rules based on (ud)^2\bar{s} diquark clustering as suggested by Jaffe and Wilczek. Within errors, the mass of the pentaquark is compatible with the experimentally measured value. The mass difference between the Theta and the pentaquark with the quantum numbers of the nucleon amounts to 70 MeV, consistent with the interpretation of the N(1440) as a pentaquark.
The discrepancy between Theta^+ photoproduction on proton vs. deuteron can be resolved if the photon couples much more strongly to K^+K^- than to K0 K0bar as indicated by the experimentally observed asymmetry between gamma p --> Lambda(1520) K^+ and gamma n --> Lambda(1520) K_s. Significant signal-background interference effects can occur in experiments like gamma N --> Kbar Theta^+ which search for the Theta^+ as a narrow I=0 resonance in a definite final state against a nonresonant background, with an experimental resolution coarser than the expected resonance width. We show that when the si…
We review the current status of the exotic pentaquark baryons. After a brief look at experiments of both positive and negative results, we discuss theoretical methods to study the structure and reactions for the pentaquarks. First we introduce the quark model and the chiral soliton model, where we discuss the relation of mass spectrum and parity with some emphasis on the role of chiral symmetry. It is always useful to picture the structure of the pentaquarks in terms of quarks. As for other methods, we discuss a model independent method, and briefly mention the results from the lattice and QCD…
I overview the physical picture of QCD at low energies that has led to the prediction of a narrow exotic baryon Theta^+ which cannot be made of three quarks. The very narrow width of the Theta^+ and a possible reason why it is seen in low- but not in high-energy experiments are briefly discussed.
We study the recently discovered Theta^+ baryon in the context of the perturbative chiral quark model. The basic configuration of the Theta^+ is set up as a pentaquark bound state, where the single particle wave functions are the ground state solutions of a confining potential. We classify the resulting pentaquark multiplets as the J^P=1/2^- and 3/2^- flavor SU(3) antidecuplet. The full mass spectrum of the multiplets is determined by including meson and gluon cloud contributions inducing flavor SU(3) breaking. Mainly due to the semi-perturbative gluon effects the resulting 3/2^- antidecuplet …
Roles of instanton induced interactions (III) in the masses of pentaquark baryons, Theta^+ (J=1/2 and 3/2) and Xi^{--}, and a dibaryon, H, are discussed using the MIT bag model in the negative parity case. It is shown that the two-body terms in III give a strong attraction mainly due to the increase of the number of pairs in multi-quark systems. In contrast, the three-body u-d-s interaction is repulsive. It is found that III lowers the mass of Theta^+ as much as 100 MeV from the mass predicted by the bag model without III.
We rewiew and scrutinize the existing mass determinations of the pentaquarks from the exponential Laplace Sum Rules (LSR). We do not find any sum rule window for extracting optimal and reliable results from the LSR, due to the unusual slow convergence of the OPE and to the exceptional important role of the QCD continuum into the spectral function in this channel. Instead, we use in this channel, for the first time, Finite Energy Sum Rules (FESR), which exhibit a nice stability in the QCD continuum threshold t_c, at which one can extract, with a good accuracy, the mass of the lowest resonance. I…
Assuming the two diquark structure for the pentaquark state as advocated in the Jaffe-Wilczek model, we study the strong decays of light and heavy parity-even pentaquark states using the light-front quark model in conjunction with the spectator approximation. The narrowness of the Theta width is ascribed to the p-wave configuration of the diquark pair. Taking the Theta width as a benchmark, we estimate the rates of the strong decays Xi_{3/2}-- to Xi- pi-, Sigma- K-, Sigma_{5c}0 to D_s- p, D_{s0}*- p and Xi_{5c}0 to D_s- Sigma+, D_{s0}^{*-} Sigma+ with Sigma_{5c} Xi_{5c} being antisextet charme…
The experimental status of the pentaquark searches is briefly reviewed. Recent null results by the CLAS collaboration are commented, and new strong evidence of a very narrow Theta+ resonance by the DIANA collaboration is presented. On the theory side, I revisit the argument against the existence of the pentaquark -- that of Callan and Klebanov -- and show that actually a strong resonance is predicted in that approach, however its width is grossly overestimated. A recent calculation gives 2 MeV for the pentaquark width, and this number is probably still an upper bound.
We propose a model for the recently discovered Theta^+ exotic KN resonance as a novel kind of a pentaquark with an unusual color structure: a color triplet (ud) diquark, coupled to a color anti-triplet (ud s-bar) triquark in a relative P-wave. The state has J^P=1/2^+, I=0 and is an antidecuplet of SU(3)_f. A rough mass estimate of this pentaquark is close to experiment.
We propose a new approach in QCD sum rules applied for exotic hadrons with a number of quarks, exemplifying the pentaquark Theta^{+} (I=0,J=1/2) in the Borel sum rule. Our approach enables reliable extraction of the pentaquark properties from the sum rule with good stability in a remarkably wide Borel window. The appearance of its valid window originates from a favorable setup of the correlation functions with the aid of it chirality of the interpolating fields on the analogy of the Weinberg sum rule for the vector currents. Our setup leads to large suppression of the continuum contributions w…
The existence of quantized vibrations is utilized to explain narrow nucleon resonances below the pion threshold. A Goldstone boson with a mass of 35 MeV is derived from the experimental dibaryon masses. The quantum of 35 MeV is recognized as part of the Nambu empirical mass series. We present a few explanations to suggest why this light boson is difficult to locate in experiments. The KARMEN timing anomaly is discussed. The vibration-rotational model of elementary particles is reviewed in regards to the Diakonov-Petrov argument against mixing of these modes. The existence of a theta(1640)D03 p…
By assuming a mass formula for the spectrum of the Y=2 pentaquarks, where the chromo-magnetic interaction plays a main role, and identifying the lightest state with the Theta^+(1540), we predict a spectrum in good agreement with the few I=0 and I=1 candidates proposed in the past.
We analyze the magnetic moment of the exotic pentaquarks of the flavor antidecuplet in the constituent quark model for the case in which the ground state is in an orbital L(p)=0(+) or a L(p)=1(-) state. We derive sum rules for the magnetic moments. The magnetic moment of the Theta(1540) is found to be 0.38, 0.09 and 1.05 mu_N for J(p)=1/2(-), 1/2(+) and 3/2(+), respectively, which is compared with the results obtained in other approaches.
The distribution of the squared momentum difference |P_A|^2 - |P_B|^2 between the momenta in the laboratory system of two experimentally observed particles A and B provides a test for whether an observed mass peak indicates a real resonance rather than nonresonant background or kinematic reflection. The angular distribution of the relative momenta in the center-of-mass system exhibits a forward-backward symmetry in the production and decay of any resonance with a definite parity. This symmetry is not expected in other nonresonant processes and can be expressed without needing angular distribut…
The contradiction between evidence for and against the existence of the Theta+ pentaquark might be resolved if it only appears as a result of a particular production mechanism which is present in some experiments and absent in others. We examine the implications of Theta+ production via decay of a cryptoexotic N* resonance with a mass of about 2.4 GeV corresponding to a peak in the experimental data for the invariant mass of the (Theta+,K-) system. Further experimental checks are suggested.
Recent experimental evidence for the Theta^+(1540) has given rise to much theoretical interest in exotic baryons. The Theta^+ is a baryon that has strangeness S=+1, meaning that it contains an anti-strange quark. Thus it cannot be constructed from three quarks, unlike all other known baryons; it needs at least an extra quark-antiquark pair. It is usually modeled as a pentaquark state in the 10 bar representation of flavor SU(3), with flavor content \bar{s}uudd. This thesis considers possible heavy pentaquarks, in which the antiquark is charmed or bottom rather than strange. In the context of t…
The 1/N expansion for exotic baryons is developed, and applied to the masses, meson couplings and decay widths. Masses and widths of the 27 and 35 pentaquark states in the same tower as the Theta+ are related by spin-flavor symmetry. The 27 and 35 states can decay within the pentaquark tower, as well as to normal baryons, and so have larger decay widths than the lightest pentaquark Theta. The 1/N expansion also is applied to baryon exotics containing a single heavy antiquark. The decay widths of heavy pentaquarks via pion emission, and to normal baryons plus heavy D^(*),B^(*) mesons are studie…
We have used the light-cone formulation of Chiral-Quark Soliton Model to estimate the width of the lightest pentaquark Theta+. We have found that the effect of nonzero momentum transfer is important and reduces drastically the width to about 0.43 MeV. This means that this effect is a piece of the small width puzzle of exotic baryons.
We reinvestigate the photoproduction of the exotic pentaquark baryon Theta^+(1540,1/2^+) from the gamma N -> Kbar Theta^+ reaction process within the effective Lagrangian approach, taking into account new theoretical information on the K-N-Theta and K*-N-Theta coupling strengths from the chiral quark-soliton model (chiQSM). We also consider the crossing-symmetric hadronic form factor, satisfying the on-shell condition as well. Due to the sizable vector and tensor couplings for the vector kaon, g_{K* N Theta} and f_{K* N Theta}, which are almost the same with the vector coupling g_{K N Theta} ~…
We discuss the magnetic moments of the recently discovered exotic baryons Theta(+) and Xi(--) and their multiplet partners in the framework of a naive additive quark model. These baryons are set up as pentaquark states where four quarks and a single antiquark are located in their ground state orbit. The pentaquark states are classified as members of the flavor SU(3) octet and antidecuplet with spin-parity J^P = (1/2)^- and (3/2)^-, where we determine the magnetic moments of these pentaquark states.
