We study the one loop new physics effects to the CP even triple neutral gauge boson vertices $γ^\star γZ$, $γ^\star Z Z$, $Z^\star Z γ$ and $Z^\star Z Z$ in the context of Little Higgs models. We compute the contribution of the additional fermions in Littles Higgs model in the framework of direct product groups where $[SU(2)\times U(1)]^2 $ gauge symmetry is embedded in SU(5) global symmetry and also in the framework of simple group where $SU(N)\times U(1)$ gauge symmetry breaks down to $SU(2)_L\times U(1)$. We calculate the contribution of the fermions to these couplings when $T$ parity is invoked. In addition, we re-examine the MSSM contribution at the chosen point of SPS1a' and compare with the SM and Little Higgs models.
We study the CP even trilinear neutral gauge boson vertices at one-loop in the context of the Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, assuming two of the vector bosons are on-shell. We also study the changes in the form-factors when these two bosons are off-shell.
We consider the measurement of the trilinear couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons~($H^0, h^0$) in the minimal supersymmetric standard model~(MSSM) at a high energy $e^+$ $e^-$ linear collider in the light of the discovery of a Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider~(LHC). We identify the state observed at the LHC with the lightest CP-even Higgs boson of the MSSM. We implement this constraint, as well as all the other relevant experimental constraints, on the parameter space of the MSSM in order to study the feasibility of measuring the trilinear couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons. F…
We compute masses, trilinear self-couplings and decay widths into weak bosons of the scalar composite bosons in the case of the Minimal and Ultraminimal technicolor models. The masses, computed via the Bethe-Salpeter equation, turn out to be light and the trilinear couplings smaller than the one that would be expected when compared to a fundamental Standard Model scalar boson with the same mass. The decay widths into electroweak bosons of the Ultraminimal model scalars bosons are much smaller than the one of the Minimal model.
We discuss the strength of the trilinear Higgs boson coupling in technicolor (or composite) models in a model independent way. The coupling is determined as a function of a very general ansatz for the technicolor self-energy, and turns out to be equal or smaller than the one of the standard model Higgs boson depending on the dynamics of the theory. With this trilinear coupling we estimate the cross section for Higgs boson pair production at the LHC. This measurement is quite improbable in the case of a heavy standard model Higgs boson, but it will be even worse when this boson is dynamically g…
We compute the one loop new physics effects to the CP even triple neutral gauge boson vertices $γ^\star γZ$, $γ^\star Z \,Z$, $Z^\star \,Z\,γ$ and $Z^\star\,Z\,Z$ in the context of Little Higgs models. In addition, we re-examine the MSSM contribution at the chosen point of SPS1a' and compare with the SM and Little Higgs models.
We consider the measurement of the trilinear couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model~(MSSM) at a high energy $e^+ e^-$ linear collider in the light of the discovery of a Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider~(LHC). We identify the state observed at the LHC with the lightest Higgs boson~($h^0$) of the MSSM, and impose the constraints following from this identification, as well as other experimental constraints on the MSSM parameter space. In order to measure trilinear neutral Higgs couplings, we consider different processes where the heavier Hi…
We examine trilinear gauge boson couplings (TGCs) in the context of the $SU(3)_W\otimes U(1)'$ gauge-Higgs unification scenario. The TGCs play important roles in the probes of the physics beyond the standard model, since they are highly restricted by the experiments. We discuss mass spectrum of the neutral gauge boson with brane-localized mass terms carefully and find that the TGCs and $ρ$ parameter may deviate from standard model predictions. Finally we put a constraint from these observables and discuss the possible parameter space.
We present the full tree-order calculation of the process $e^+e^-\to\ell\barν_\ell\; q \bqp$ including the width effects in a way which is consistent with gauge invariance and high energy unitarity and which has a natural interpretation within standard perturbation theory. We also include C- and P-preserving deviations from Standard Model trilinear vector boson couplings. An analysis of the sensitivity of these channels on the trilinear couplings, using well measured angular variables of the four fermion final state, is also presented.
We present a study of the trilinear gauge interactions in extensions of the Standard Model (SM) with several anomalous extra U(1)'s, identified in various constructions, from special vacua of string theory to large extra dimensions. In these models an axion and generalized Chern-Simons interactions for anomalies cancelation are present. We derive generalized Ward identities for these vertices and discuss their structure in the Stuckelberg and Higgs-Stuckelberg phases. We give their explicit expressions in all the relevant cases, which can be used for phenomenological studies of these models at…
We analyze the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to study anomalous trilinear vector-boson interactions W^+ W^- γand W^+ W^- Z through the single production of electroweak gauge bosons via the weak boson fusion processes q q -> q q W (-> \ell^\pm ν) and q q -> q q Z(-> \ell^+ \ell^-) with \ell = e or μ. After a careful study of the standard model backgrounds, we show that the single production of electroweak bosons at the LHC can provide stringent tests on deviations of these vertices from the standard model prediction. In particular, we show that single gauge boson production …
We present results for Higgs boson pair production with variations of the trilinear Higgs boson self-coupling at next-to-leading order (NLO) in QCD including the full top quark mass dependence. Differential results at 14 TeV are presented, and we discuss the implications of anomalous trilinear couplings as well as differences between the PYTHIA 8.2 and HERWIG 7.1 parton showers in combination with POWHEG. The implementation of the NLO QCD calculation with variable Higgs boson self-coupling is made publicly available in the POWHEG-BOX-V2 Monte Carlo framework. A simple method for using the new …
We list all the lowest dimension effective operators inducing off-shell trilinear neutral gauge boson couplings Z-Z-Photon, Z-Photon-Photon, and ZZZ within the effective Lagrangian approach, both in the linear and nonlinear realizations of the SU(2)_{L} X U(1)_Y gauge symmetry. In the linear scenario we find that these couplings can be generated only by dimension eight operators necessarily including the Higgs boson field, whereas in the nonlinear case they are induced by dimension six operators. We consider the impact of these couplings on some precision measurements such as the magnetic and …
The trilinear gauge boson couplings in the SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_N (3 - 3 - 1) models are presented. We find that new $Z_2$ does not interact with the usual (in the standard model) gauge bosons $Z, W^\pm$. Based on these results, production of new heavy gauge bosons at high energy colliders such as e^+ e^- is calculated. We show that the cross sections obtained in the 3 - 3 - 1 model with right-handed neutrinos can be one order bigger than the same in the minimal 3 - 3 - 1 model.
We show that the dominant channel proposed for the determination of the Higgs boson trilinear coupling, $pp\to HH+X$ via gluon fusion, exhibits an interference structure that is independent of the collider energy for collider energies in the range $8\,{\rm TeV}\leq \sqrt{s}\leq 100\,{\rm TeV}$ and is almost maximally destructive. This insensitivity to the collider energy remains approximately true for a variety of other two Higgs production mechanisms although the magnitude of the interference varies widely.
The trilinear self-coupling of the Higgs boson, in a theory in which this boson is composite, is compared to the experimental bound of this quantity obtained by the CMS experiment. In the case of a model where technicolor (TC) is coupled to QCD, we find that the experimental result already constrain the dynamics of the theory, which is represented by an expression of the technifermion self-energy ($Σ_{tc}$) typical of technicolor coupled models, and function of the dynamically generated technifermion mass and two other parameters that describe the technifermion dynamical mass momentum dependen…
By means of a model-independent analysis, we discuss the constraints on anomalous trilinear gauge-boson couplings that can be obtained from the study of electron-positron annihilation into $W$ pairs at LC with \sqrt{s}=0.5 TeV and 1 TeV. We consider the general CP conserving anomalous effective Lagrangian, as well as some specific models with reduced number of independent couplings. The analysis is based on combinations of observables with initial and final state polarizations, that allow to separately constrain the different couplings and to improve the corresponding numerical bounds.
The Higgs boson effective self-couplings $λ_{hhh}$ and $λ_{HHH}$ are calculated in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for the complete set of one-loop diagrams with one of the Higgs bosons off-shell. The comparison with previous results, where only the leading correction terms in the limiting case of large masses of virtual particles were calculated, is carried out. We analyse the dependence of the self-couplings on the energy and ${\tt tan} β$; it is demonstrated that the tree-level self-couplings could acquire substantial one-loop corrections, which could be ph…
We present a detailed analysis of multiple production of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson (h) of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) at high-energy e^+ e^- colliders. We consider the production of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson (H) via Higgs-strahlung e^+e^- \to ZH, in association with the CP-odd Higgs boson (A) in e^+e^- \to AH, or via the fusion mechanism e^+e^- \to ν_e \barν_e H, with H subsequently decaying through H \to hh, thereby resulting in a pair of lighter Higgs bosons (h) in the final state. These processes can enable one to measure the trilinear Higgs couplings λ_{Hh…
Trilinear couplings of the neutral CP-even Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) can be measured through the multiple production of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson (h) at high-energy e^+e^- colliders. This includes the production of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson (H) via e^+e^- \to ZH, in association with the CP-odd Higgs boson (A) in e^+e^- \to AH, or via e^+e^- \to ν_e \barν_e H, with H subsequently decaying through H \to hh. These processes can enable one to measure the trilinear Higgs couplings λ_{Hhh} and λ_{hhh}, which can be used to theoretically reconstruct…
A direct measurement of the trilinear $WWγ$ and $WWZ$ couplings is possible in the pair production of electroweak bosons at $e^+e^-$ and hadron colliders. This talk addresses some of the theoretical issues: the parameterization of ``anomalous couplings'' in terms of form factors and effective Lagrangians, the complementary information which can be obtained in $e^+e^-$ vs. hadron collider experiments, and a novel way to implement finite $W$-width effects in a gauge invariant manner.
The four self-couplings $λ_{hhh}$, $λ_{hhH}$, $λ_{hHH}$, $λ_{HHH}$ and decay width $Γ(H \to hh)$ are calculated taken into account one-loop $t,b,c$ - (s)quarks, $τ$ - (s)lepton corrections in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). By the example of self-couplings dependencies from $ \tg β$ and \textrm{$M_A$}, it is shown, that calculated corrections can give the essential contribution to self-couplings and decay width determined at one-loop level. The radiative corrections account becomes necessary condition for performance of Higgs potential reconstruction procedur…
The processes gamma gamma -> WW and e gamma -> nu W are sensitive to triple gauge boson interactions. Both reactions have been simulated for hadronically decaying W-bosons and the sensitivity to anomalous couplings has been estimated.
We carry out a detailed analysis of the general two Higgs doublet model with CP violation. We describe two different parametrizations of this model, and then study the Higgs boson masses and the trilinear Higgs couplings for these two parametrizations. Within a rather general model, we find that the trilinear Higgs couplings have a significant dependence on the details of the model, even when the lightest Higgs boson mass is taken to be a fixed parameter. We include radiative corrections in the one-loop effective potential approximation in our analysis of the Higgs boson masses and the Higgs t…
We discuss the measurement of the $WWV$ ($V=γ,\, Z$) gauge boson couplings in present and future collider experiments. The major goals of such experiments will be the confirmation of the Standard Model (SM) predictions and the search for signals of new physics. The present limits on these couplings from Tevatron and LEP2 experiments as well as the expectations from future hadron and lepton collider experiments are summarized. We also study the impact of initial state radiation on the sensitivity limits which can be achieved at the NLC and a $μ^+μ^-$ collider.
We study the W/Z pair production via two-photon exchange at the LHC and give the sensitivities on trilinear and quartic gauge anomalous couplings between photons and W/Z bosons for an integrated luminosity of 30 and 200 fb^{-1}. For simplicity and to obtain lower backgrounds, only the leptonic decays of the electroweak bosons are considered.
We calculate the two-loop contributions from a modified trilinear Higgs self-interaction, $κ_λλ_{\rm SM} v h^3$, to the electroweak oblique parameters $S$ and $T$. Using the current bounds on $S$ and $T$ from electroweak measurements, we find the 95% C.L. constraint on the modified trilinear coupling to be $-14.0 \leq κ_λ\leq 17.4$. The largest effects on $S$ and $T$ arise from two insertions of the modified trilinear coupling that result in $T/ S \simeq -3/2$; remarkably, this is nearly parallel to the axis of the tightest experimental constraint in the $S$-$T$ plane. No contributions to $S$ …
We study the accuracy to be obtained in measuring trilinear $Z^0W^+W^-$ and $γW^+W^-$ couplings in the reaction $e^+e^- \to W^+W^-$ at "New Linear Collider" energies of $500GeV$ to $1000GeV$. We derive simple scaling laws for the sensitivity in the measurement of these couplings. For most couplings the sensitivity increases as $\sqrt{L\cdot s}$, where $L$ denotes the integrated luminosity and $\sqrt s$ denotes the $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energy. Detailed investigations based on various fits confirm these scaling laws and show that an accuracy of the order of the standard radiative corrections …
An elementary Higgs boson, which is the remnant of the spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism in the Standard Model, remains one of the most elusive particles. If a Higgs boson candidate is found at future accelerators, it becomes necessary to determine its properties, beyond the mass, production cross section and decay rates. The other crucial properties relate to the self-couplings of the Higgs boson, which are necessary to reconstruct the Higgs potential, and thereby confirm the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking. In this paper we review the question of the measurability of some of…
The determination of the Higgs self coupling is one of the key ingredients for understanding the mechanism behind the electroweak symmetry breaking. An indirect method for constraining the Higgs trilinear self coupling via single Higgs production at next-to-leading order (NLO) has been proposed in order to avoid the drawbacks of studies with double Higgs production. In this paper we study the Higgs self interaction through the vector boson fusion (VBF) process $e^{-} p \to ν_{e} h j$ at the future LHeC. At NLO level, we compute analytically the scattering amplitudes for relevant processes, in …
The measurement of the trilinear and quartic Higgs self-couplings is necessary for the reconstruction of the Higgs potential. This way the Higgs mechanism as the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking can be tested. The couplings are accessible in multi-Higgs production processes at the LHC. In this paper we investigate the prospects of measuring the trilinear Higgs coupling in composite Higgs models. In these models, the Higgs boson emerges as a pseudo-Goldstone boson of a strongly interacting sector, and the Higgs potential is generated by loops of the Standard Model (SM) gauge bosons and f…
The trilinear terms {\normalsize of the form $\sqrt{2} fε^{ijk} ρ_i χ_jϕ_k$} in the scalar potential of a 3-3-1 gauge model are considered. When looking for the eigenbasis of the massive physical Higgs bosons that survive the spontaneous symmetry breakdown of the model -- in light of the observed SM-like Higgs boson with mass $m_{h}\simeq125$ GeV reported in 2012 at the LHC -- one gets a strong constraint to the cubic term. It has to be smaller than usual $f\ll w$, in flagrant contradiction with the large one $f\simeq w$ which is propagated in the literature to date.
After the discovery of a Higgs-like boson by the LHC experiments ATLAS and CMS, it is of crucial importance to determine its properties in order to not only identify it as the boson responsible for electroweak symmetry breaking but also to clarify the question if it is a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson or the Higgs particle of some extension beyond the SM as {\it e.g.} supersymmetry. In this context, the precise prediction of the Higgs parameters as masses and couplings play a crucial role for the proper distinction between different models. In extension of previous works on the loop-corrected…
We study pair-production as well as the triple self-couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) at the Future International Linear $e^{+}e^{-}$ Collider (ILC) and Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). The analysis is based on the reactions $e^{+}e^{-}\to b \bar b h_ih_i, t \bar t h_ih_i$ with $h_i=h, H, A$. We evaluate the total cross-section for both $b\bar bh_ih_i$, $t\bar th_ih_i$ and calculate the total number of events considering the complete set of Feynman diagrams at tree-level. We vary the triple couplings $κλ_{hhh}$, $κλ_{Hhh}$, $κλ_{hAA}$, $κλ…
We review studies of the trilinear gauge boson couplings at the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider from data collected by the CDF and D0 collaborations during the period 1992--1996. The gauge boson couplings are a fundamental prediction of the standard model, resulting from the non-Abelian nature of the theory. Therefore, experimental tests of the couplings are of foremost importance. We introduce the experimental results by reviewing the effective Lagrangian formalism, the indirect constraints on the couplings from low-energy experiments, and the expected values of the couplings in theories …
In this work, we analyze the Higgs sector of the minimal $S(3)$-invariant extension of the Standard Model is performed. Considering three Higgs fields, which are SU(2) doublets, and CP invariant, we compute the exact and analytical physical Higgs boson masses in terms of the Higgs potential parameters and the scalar Higgs matrix rotation angle $θ_S$ and $w_3$ ($\tanθ_P=\tanθ_C=\tan^{-1}ω_3$), related to the pseudoscalar and charged Higgs matrix rotation angles $θ_P$ and $θ_C$ respectively. Furthermore, within this model we can also write down in an explicit form the trilinear self-couplings $λ…
I first review a few basic guiding principles that lead to the notion of a hierarchy of couplings in searches of New Physics involving weak bosons processes. The hierarchies within a linear and a non-linear realization of symmetry breaking are compared to the usual {\em phenomenological} parameterization of the $WWV$ vertex. Limits that one expects to obtain at the NLC(500GeV) and LHC/SSC on the tri-linear and quadri-linear anomalous $W$ couplings are compared. The cleanness of an \epm gives the NLC a clear advantage in constraining the tri-linear couplings. However, with ``only" $500$GeV, the…
For MSSM phenomenology, soft SUSY breaking dimension-three operators are important, in particular the couplings between Higgs bosons and squarks. In scattering processes, perturbative unitarity is violated at modest center-of-mass energy if these couplings are much larger than the masses of the scalar particles involved. Assuming perturbative unitarity, constraints on the trilinear couplings can be determined using a computer program that we have developed.
The basic parameters of supersymmetric theories can be determined at future e^+e^- linear colliders with high precision. We investigate in this report how polarisation measurements in \tildeτ and \tilde{t} or \tilde{b} decays to τleptons and t quarks plus neutralinos or charginos can be used to measure \tanβ(in particular for large values) and to determine the trilinear couplings A_τ, A_t and A_b in sfermion pair production.
We analyze the flavor structure of the trilinear couplings in the different theoretical models of SUSY breaking. We generically obtain A_{ij}= A^L_i + A^R_j in all the models examined. In fact, this is the rigorous form when SUSY breaking effects appear through the Kahler metric of chiral fields or through wave-function renormalization. Indeed, the low-energy phenomenological requirements from the absence of charge and color breaking minima and the measurements in flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) observables strongly favor this restricted form of the trilinear matrices. As a straightforw…
We perform a multivariate analysis of Higgs-pair production via the decay channel $HH \to b\bar b γγ$ at the future 100 TeV $pp$ collider to determine the trilinear Higgs self--coupling (THSC) $λ_{3H}$, which takes the value of 1 in the standard model. We consider all known background processes. For the signal we adopt the most recent event generator of {\tt POWHEG-BOX-V2} to exploit the NLO distributions for Toolkit for Multivariate Data Analysis (TMVA). Through the technique of Boosted Decision Tree (BDT) analysis trained for $λ_{3H}=1$, compared to the the conventional cut-and-count approac…
We assess the possibility of measuring the trilinear self-coupling of the Standard Model Higgs boson at future electron-positron linear colliders with centre-of-mass energies between 500 and 1500 GeV. We consider rather light Higgs scalars, with mass below the W+W- threshold, produced in the double Higgs-strahlung channel e+e- -> HHZ and decaying via the dominant mode H -> bbbar. Assuming ideal vertex tagging of the heavy-quark jets and mass reconstruction of the Z boson produced in association with the Higgs pair, we compare the yield of the above process to those of all irreducible electrowe…
To establish the Higgs mechanism {\it sui generis} experimentally, the Higgs self-interaction potential must be reconstructed. This task requires the measurement of the trilinear and quadrilinear self-couplings, as predicted in the Standard Model or in supersymmetric theories. The couplings can be probed in multiple Higgs production at high-luminosity e+e- linear colliders. We present the theoretical analysis for the production of neutral Higgs-boson pairs in the relevant channels of double Higgs-strahlung and associated multiple Higgs production.
We study the C and P even WWγand WWZ trilinear gauge boson vertices (TGV's), in the context of the MSSM assuming that the external W's are on their mass shell. We find that for energies less than 200 GeV squark and slepton contributions to the aforementioned couplings are two orders of magnitude smaller than those of the Standard Model (SM). In the same energy range the bulk of the supersymmetric Higgs corrections to the TGV's is due to the lightest neutral Higgs, h_0, whose contribution is like that of a Standard Model Higgs of the same mass. The contributions of the Neutralinos and Charginos…
We study the impact of large trilinear R-parity violating couplings on the lightest CP-even Higgs boson mass in supersymmetric models. We use the publicly available computer codes SARAH and SPheno to compute the leading two-loop corrections. We use the effective potential approach. For not too heavy third generation squarks (< 1 TeV) and couplings close to the unitarity bound we find positive corrections up to a few GeV in the Higgs mass.
In minimal Supergravity (mSUGRA) models the lightest supersymmetric particle (assumed to be the lightest neutralino) provides an excellent cold dark matter (CDM) candidate. The supersymmetric parameter space is significantly reduced, if the limits on the CDM relic density, obtained from WMAP data, are used. Assuming a vanishing trilinear scalar coupling A0 and fixed values of tan(beta), these limits result in narrow lines of allowed regions in the m0-m1/2 plane, the so called WMAP strips. In this analysis the trilinear coupling A0 has been varied within +/-4 TeV. A fixed non vanishing A0 value…
One-loop effects of Standard Model (SM) extensions comprising universal extra dimensions are essential as a consequence of Kaluza-Klein (KK) parity conservation, for they represent the very first presumable virtual effects on low-energy observables. In this paper, we calculate the one-loop CP-even contributions to the SM WWgamma and WWZ gauge couplings produced by the KK excited modes that stand for the dynamical variables of the effective theory emerged from a generalization of the SM to five dimensions, in which the extra dimension is assumed to be universal, after compactification. The empl…
In a R-parity violating (RPV) model of neutrino mass with three bilinear couplings $μ_i$ and three trilinear couplings $λ'_{i33}$, where $i$ is the lepton index, we find six generic scenarios each with a distinctive pattern of the trilinear couplings consistent with the oscillation data. These patterns may be reflected in direct RPV decays of the lighter top squark or in the RPV decays of the lightest superparticle, assumed to be the lightest neutralino. Typical signal sizes at the Tevatron RUN II and the LHC have been estimated and the results turn out to be encouraging.
We consider a gaugino-mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario where in addition to the gauginos the Higgs fields couple directly to the field that breaks supersymmetry. This yields non-vanishing trilinear scalar couplings in general, which can lead to large mixing in the stop sector providing a sufficiently large Higgs mass. Using the most recent release of FeynHiggs, we show the implications on the parameter space. Assuming a gravitino LSP, we find allowed points with a neutralino, sneutrino or stau NLSP. We test these points against the results of Run 1 of the LHC, considering in particular…
We compute the one-loop corrections to the triple Higgs self-interaction $hhh$ in the framework of the Standard Model (SM), the Two Higgs Doublet Model type III (THDM-III) and the Littlest Higgs Model with T parity (LHBM+T). Our results are compared with previous results for the SM. In particular, we find that an imaginary part for the $λ_{hhh}$ form factor is induced when one of the Higgs boson legs is off-mass shell with 4-momentum magnitude higher than the Higgs boson mass. This contribution is sensitive to virtual effects of the Higgs self-interaction, that induces a radiative correction t…
