We present an analysis of the nucleon strange sea extracted from a global Parton Distribution Function fit including the neutrino and anti-neutrino dimuon data by the CCFR and NuTeV collaborations, the inclusive charged lepton-nucleon Deep Inelastic Scattering and Drell-Yan data. The (anti-)neutrino induced dimuon analysis is constrained by the semi-leptonic charmed-hadron branching ratio $B_μ=(8.8\pm0.5)%$, determined from the inclusive charmed hadron measurements performed by the FNAL-E531 and CHORUS neutrino emulsion experiments. Our analysis yields a strange sea suppression factor $κ(Q^2=20{\rm GeV}^2)=0.62\pm 0.04$, the most precise value available, an $x$-distribution of total strange sea that is slightly softer than the non-strange sea, and an asymmetry between strange and anti-strange quark distributions consistent with zero (integrated over $x$ it is equal to $0.0013 \pm 0.0009$ at $Q^2=20{\rm GeV}^2$).
We propose new method which allows determination of the strange-sea quark spin distribution in the nucleon through measurement of various inclusive and semi-inclusive polarized deep inelastic electron- or muon-proton reactions. It is shown, that using combinations of inclusive data and semi-inclusive data containing neutral pions in the final state, it is possible to extract the strange-sea quark spin distribution. Similar result can be obtained for charged pions and some other hadrons also.
We perform QCD fit of the nucleon strange and anti-strange sea distributions to the neutrino and anti-neutrino dimuon data by the CCFR and NuTeV collaborations, supplemented by the inclusive charged lepton-nucleon Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) and Drell-Yan data. The effective semi-leptonic charmed-hadron branching ratio is constrained from the inclusive charmed hadron measurements performed by the FNAL-E531 and CHORUS neutrino emulsion experiments as $B_μ=(8.8\pm0.5)%$. We obtain a strange sea suppression factor {$κ(20 {\rm GeV}^2)=0.62\pm0.04({\rm exp.})\pm0.03({\rm QCD})$}. An $x$-distrib…
Charm production as related to the determination of the strange sea density in deep inelastic charged current processes is studied predominantly in the framework of the $\overline{\rm{MS}}$ fixed flavor factorization scheme. Perturbative stability within this formalism is demonstrated. The compatibility of recent next-to-leading order strange quark distributions with the available dimuon and $F^{νN}_2$ data is investigated. It is shown that final conclusions concerning these distributions afford further analyses of presently available and/or forthcoming neutrino data.
Recent measurement of the structure function $F_2^ν$ in neutrino deep inelastic scattering allows us to compare structure function measured in neutrino and charged lepton scattering for the first time with reasonable precision. The comparison between neutrino and muon structure functions made by the CCFR Collaboration indicates that there is a discrepancy between these structure functions at small Bjorken x values. In this talk I examine two effects which might account for the experimental discrepancy: nuclear shadowing corrections for neutrinos and contributions from strange and anti strange …
We present details on calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to massive charged-current coefficient functions in deep-inelastic scattering. Especially we focus on the application to charm-quark production in neutrino scattering on fixed target that can be measured via the dimuon final state. We construct a fast interface to the calculation so for any parton distributions the cross sections can be evaluated within milliseconds by using the pre-generated interpolation grids. We discuss agreements of various theoretical predicitons with the NuTeV and CCFR dimuon data and the…
We propose a model for the longitudinal polarization of Lambda baryons produced in deep-inelastic lepton scattering at any xF, based on static SU(6) quark-diquark wave functions and polarized intrinsic strangeness in the nucleon associated with individual valence quarks. Free parameters of the model are fixed by fitting NOMAD data on the longitudinal polarization of Lambda hyperons in neutrino collisions. Our model correctly reproduces the observed dependences of Lambda polarization on the kinematic variables. Within the context of our model, the NOMAD data imply that the intrinsic strangeness…
Neutrino induced deep inelastic charm production off strange sea partons in the nucleon is studied in the framework of the MSbar fixed flavor factorization scheme. The momentum (z) distributions of the produced D mesons as calculated in the next-to-leading order QCD analysis are presented and compared to their leading order counterparts. Perturbative stability within this formalism is demonstrated and the compatibility of recent next-to-leading order (NLO) strange quark distributions with available dimuon data is investigated. Our NLO (MSbar) results provide, for the first time, the tools requ…
We discuss shadowing corrections to the structure function $F_2$ in neutrino deep-inelastic scattering on heavy nuclear targets. In particular, we examine the role played by shadowing in the comparison of the structure functions $F_2$ measured in neutrino and muon deep inelastic scattering. The importance of shadowing corrections in the determination of the strange quark distributions is explained.
The non-valence spin-flavor structure of the nucleon extracted from semi-inclusive measurements of polarized deep inelastic scattering depends strongly on the transverse momentum of the detected hadrons which are used to determine the individual polarized sea distributions. This physics may explain the recent HERMES observation of a positively polarized strange sea through semi-inclusive scattering, in contrast to the negative strange sea polarization deduced from inclusive polarized deep inelastic scattering.
We use recent neutrino dimuon production data combined with a global deep-inelastic parton fit to construct a new parton set, NNPDF1.2, which includes a determination of the strange and antistrange distributions of the nucleon. The result is characterized by a faithful estimation of uncertainties thanks to the use of the NNPDF methodology, and is free of model or theoretical assumptions other than the use of NLO perturbative QCD and exact sum rules. Better control of the uncertainties of the strange and antistrange parton distributions allows us to reassess the determination of electroweak par…
We propose a means to detect the nucleon strange quark-antiquark asymmetry, which is predicted as a non-perturbative effect, but still unchecked directly by available experiments. The difference for the $D(c\bar{q})$ and $\bar{D}(\bar{c}q)$ meson production cross sections in neutrino and antineutrino induced charged current deep inelastic scattering is illustrated to be sensitive to the nucleon strange asymmetry. Prospect is given and the effect due to the light quark fragmentation is also discussed for the extraction of the strange asymmetry in future experiments.
We investigate a double-spin asymmetry for the semi-inclusive $Λ$ hyperon production in the longitudinally deep inelastic lepton-proton scattering, the sign of which can provide us with important information about the strange quark helicity distribution in the proton. On the basis of the interpretation of the longitudinal deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering data as a negative strange quark polarization in the proton and the preliminary results on the measurement of the longitudinal $Λ$ polarization at the $Z$ resonance in electron-positron annihilation,we predict a minus sign for the sugge…
Possibilities to extract information on the strange form factors of the nucleon from neutrino (antineutrino) inelastic scattering on nuclei, in an energy range from 200 MeV to 1 GeV and more, are investigated in detail. All calculations are performed within two relativistic independent particle models (Fermi gas and shell model); the final state interactions of the ejected nucleon are taken into account through relativistic optical model potentials. We have shown that the values of the cross sections significantly depend on the nuclear model (especially in the lower energy range). However the …
There are several different experimental indications, such as the pion-nucleon sigma term and polarized deep-inelastic scattering, which suggest that the nucleon wave function contains a hidden s bar s component. This is expected in chiral soliton models, which also predicted the existence of new exotic baryons that may recently have been observed. Another hint of hidden strangeness in the nucleon is provided by copious phi production in various N bar N annihilation channels, which may be due to evasions of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule. One way to probe the possible polarization of hidden s bar…
A large class of polarized and unpolarized deep inelastic data is successfully described with Fermi-Dirac functions for the non-diffractive part of quark parton distributions. The NLO approach used here improves the agreement with experiment of the previous LO work. We get a broader distribution for the strange parton s(x) than for sbar(x).
We propose a model for the longitudinal polarization of Lambda baryons produced in deep-inelastic lepton scattering at any xF, based on static SU(6) quark-diquark wave functions and polarized intrinsic strangeness in the nucleon associated with individual valence quarks. Free parameters of the model are fixed by fitting the NOMAD data on the longitudinal polarization of Lambda hyperons in neutrino interactions. Our model correctly reproduces the observed dependences of Lambda polarization on the kinematic variables. Within the context of our model, the NOMAD data imply that the intrinsic stran…
The fact that analyses of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering suggest that the polarized strange quark density $Δs(x) + Δ\bar{s}(x)$ is positive in the measured region of Bjorken x, whereas all analyses of inclusive deep inelastic scattering yield significantly negative values of this quantity, is known as the "strange quark polarization puzzle". We have analyzed the world data on inclusive deep inelastic scattering, including the COMPASS 2010 proton data on the spin asymmetries, and for the first time, the new extremely precise JLab CLAS data on the proton and deuteron spin structure fun…
Semi-inclusive $D / \Dbar$ meson productions in neutrino deep inelastic scattering are studied including ${\cal O}(α_s)$ corrections. Supposing a future neutrino factory, cross sections and spin asymmetries in polarized processes are calculated by using various parametrization models of polarized parton distribution functions. We suggest that $\Dbar$ production is promising to directly extract the strange quark distribution.
We present a QCD analysis of the strange and charm contributions to the neutrino deep inelastic structure function $xF_3$. We show that next-to-leading order effects, which are relatively important for $F_2$, play a lesser role in the case of $xF_3$. The neutrino--antineutrino difference $xF_3^ν - xF_3^{\bar ν}$ provides a new determination of the strange density, which exhibits some advantages with respect to other traditional methods.
We present a systematic QCD analysis of the strange--charm and bottom--top contributions to transverse and longitudinal structure functions in charged--current deep inelastic scattering. Various ${\cal O}(α_s^1)$ schemes are studied and compared. The dependence of their predictions on the factorization scale $μ^2$ is investigated. The theoretical uncertainties resulting from the choice of the scheme and of $μ^2$ are estimated.
We present an improved determination of the strange sea distribution in the nucleon with constraints coming from the recent charm production data in neutrino-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering by the NOMAD and CHORUS experiments and from charged current inclusive deep-inelastic scattering at HERA. We demonstrate that the results are consistent with the data from the ATLAS and the CMS experiments on the associated production of $W^\pm$-bosons with $c$-quarks. We also discuss issues related to the recent strange sea determination by the ATLAS experiment using LHC collider data.
We perform an analysis of the relation between the factorization scale and the masses of the quarks in the calculation of the hard gluon coefficient in polarized deep inelastic scattering. Particular attention is paid to the role of strange and charm quarks at finite momentum transfer. It is found that for the momentum transfer of the present experiments, the contribution from the charm quark is significant.
We present the results of a new global analysis of DIS data characterized by an enlarged neutrino and antineutrino data set. Special emphasis is given to the strange sector. The strange sea distribution is determined independently of the non strange sea. The possibility of a charge asymmetry, s(x) different from sbar(x), is tested.
Once heavy-quark corrections are take into account neutrino-proton elastic scattering provides a complementary probe of polarized strangeness in the nucleon to measurements from inclusive and semi-inclusive polarized deep inelastic scattering. We review the different types of experiment and a recent NLO calculation of heavy-quark contributions to the weak neutral-current axial-charge (measureable in neutrino-proton elastic scattering) performed using Witten's heavy-quark renormalization group method.
We show that there is no real conflict between the two determinations of the strange sea density from the opposite--sign dimuon production and from the difference of the $F_2$ structure functions measured in neutrino and muon deep inelastic scattering. Once non universal sea parton densities are introduced, which take into account the effects of different mass thresholds and different longitudinal contributions, the discrepancy is shown to disappear and both sets of data are simultaneously well reproduced. No need for a large strange sea content of the nucleon emerges.
We introduce the concept of ``locality" for the strange sea in the nucleon, which measures proximity of the strange and anti-strange quarks in the momentum and coordinate spaces. The CCFR data for the strange and anti-strange distributions imply a ``local" strange sea in the momentum space, which is unexpected in QCD and is at variance with the simple meson-cloud model where the strangeness is generated from the virtual transition of the nucleon to a hyperon plus a kaon. We present a simple model to interpret the CCFR data and to correlate momentum and coordinate space locality, yielding an up…
Next-to-leading order QCD corrections, order 1 GeV mass corrections and the role of a strangeness asymmetry and isospin violation in the x dependence of the parton distribution functions are evaluated in the context of the neutrino-nucleon cross section. Their contributions to evaluations of the weak mixing angle using the Paschos-Wolfenstein relation are discussed.
A new QCD analysis of Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) data is presented. All available neutrino and anti-neutrino cross sections are reanalysed and included in the fit, along with charged-lepton DIS and Drell-Yan data. A massive factorisation scheme is used to describe the charm component of the structure functions. Next-to-leading order parton distribution functions are provided. In particular, the strange sea density is determined with a higher accuracy with respect to other global fits.
We consider determinations of the strange sea in the nucleon based on the QCD analyses of data collected at the LHC with focus on the recent high-statistics ATLAS measurement of the $W^\pm$- and $Z$-boson production. We study the effect of different functional forms for parameterization of the parton distribution functions and the combination of various data sets in the analysis. We compare to earlier strange sea determinations and discuss ways to improve them in the future.
Theoretical predictions are given for the strange sea distributions in the nucleon based on the flavor SU(3) chiral quark soliton model, with emphasis upon the asymmetry of quark and antiquark distributions. We find that the quark-antiquark asymmetry of the strange sea is much larger for the longitudinally polarized distribution functions than for the unpolarized ones. A preliminary comparison with the CCFR data for the unpolarized $s$-quark distribution and with the LSS fits of the longitudinally polarized distribution functions is encouraging.
We consider models for the spin transfers to $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons produced in lepton-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering. We make predictions for longitudinal $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ spin transfers for the COMPASS experiment and for HERA, and for the spin transfer to $Λ$ hyperons produced at JLAB. We demonstrate that accurate measurements of the spin transfers to $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons with COMPASS kinematics have the potential to probe the intrinsic strangeness in the nucleon. We show that a measurement of $\barΛ$ polarisation could provide a clean probe of the spin transfer from $\bar{s}$ quarks…
We present a preliminary account of a new global QCD analysis of DIS data, including recent $ν, \bar ν$ DIS measurements. The model-independent cross section reanalysis by CCFR allows a new determination of the strange sea asymmetry, whose first moment is found to be small. The impact on the NuTeV measurement of $\sin^2 θ_W$ is discussed.
In this work we study the strange sea of the proton using a version of the Meson Cloud Model containing both, efective and perturbative degrees of freedom. We construct the $s$ and $\bar{s}$ parton distributions functions at the initial energy scale, $Q_0^2$, where QCD evolution starts. The initial $s$ and $\bar s$ pdfs depend on a number of parameters which we fix by comparison to parameterizations of the strange sea of the nucleon obtained in a recent global fit to experimental data, allowing for a $s-\bar{s}$ asymmetry. We show that the model describes well the strange sea of the proton and…
The strange sea of the proton is generally assumed to have quark - antiquark symmetry. However it has been known for some time that non-perturbative processes involving the meson cloud of the proton may break this symmetry. Recently this has been of interest as it affects the analysis of the so-called `NuTeV anomaly', and could explain the large discrepancy between the NuTeV measurement of $\sin^{2} θ_{W}$ and the currently accepted value. In this paper we re-examine strange - anti-strange asymmetry using the meson cloud model. We calculate contributions to the strange sea arising from fluctua…
The polarized strange quark puzzle concerns the fact that the polarized strange quark density extracted from polarized inclusive deep inelastic scattering data is significantly negative, whereas it is zero or slightly positive when extracted from a combined analysis of polarized semi-inclusive and inclusive deep inelastic data. SU(3) flavor symmetry, which, it is generally accepted, is not an exact symmetry, plays an important role in the inclusive analysis, and all the extracted polarized quark densities depend, to some extent, on the level of symmetry breaking introduced. But by far the most…
Our recent theoretical analysis based on the flavor SU(3) chiral quark soliton model predicts fairly large particle-antiparticle asymmetry of the strange sea in the nucleon. We point out that the predicted magnitude of asymmetry is large enough to solely resolve the so-called NuTeV anomaly on the fundamental parameter $\sin^2 θ_W$ in the standard model.
We evaluate the medium effects in nucleon which can induce an asymmetry of the strange sea. The short-distance effects determined by the weak interaction can give rise to $δm\equiv Δm_s-Δm_{\bar s}$ where $Δm_{s(\bar s)}$ is the medium-induced mass of strange quark by a few KeV at most, but the long-distance effects by strong interaction could be sizable.
We treat the hadrons as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states where contributions from sea-quarks and gluons can be studied in detail for the properties of low lying baryons. Statistical model is applied to calculate individual probabilities from various scalar, vector and tensor sea components in flavor, spin and color subspaces for each quark-gluon Fock state. The mass of strange quark is imposed in terms of constraints to the availability of strange quarks in the sea and free energy of gluons in conformity with experimental indications. We calculate multiplicities for different sets of Foc…
We investigate the flavour and quark-antiquark structure of the polarized nucleon by calculating the parton distribution functions of the nucleon sea using the meson cloud model. We find that the SU(2) flavor symmetry in the light antiquark sea and quark-antiquark symmetry in the strange quark sea are broken, {\it i.e.} $Δ\ubar < Δ\dbar$ and $Δs < Δ\sbar$. The polarization of the strange sea is found to be positive, which is in contradiction to previous analyses. We predict a much larger quark-antiquark asymmetry in the polarized strange quark sea than that in the unpolarized strange quark sea…
Probabilities of various Fock states with strange and nonstrange quark-gluon sea contents are calculated to probe the hadronic structure. Particularly for nucleon, we find various contributions to the low energy properties from scalar, vector and tensor sea in addition to three valence quarks. We focus on the importance of individual sea contributions to the low energy parameters of nucleon by taking the strange and non strange quark-gluon content to the hadron sea. We confirm that the extended Fock space wavefunction is capable of explaining the experimental results where vector sea plays a c…
The strange sea quarks distributions of nucleons obtained by two global analyses based on available structure function data of muon and neutrino deep inelastic scatterings are different from the strange sea quark distribution measured by the CCFR Collaboration from dimuon events in neutrino scattering. We discuss possible contributions to this discrepancy from the nuclear shadowing in the deuteron and from the isospin symmetry breaking in the sea between the neutron and the proton.
We reexamine the shapes of the strange quark parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton by means of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) analysis of {\hera} deep inelastic scattering cross section measurement at DESY, and inclusive gauge boson production and $W$ boson production associated with a charm quark from LHC at CERN. We find that there is an overall agreement on the strange quark distributions obtained from CMS $W$ + charm and ATLAS $W/Z$ data at the parton momentum fraction range $x \lesssim 10^{-2}$. Meanwhile, there is also a strong tension between these data towards large $x$. We …
The difference between the $Λ$ and $\bar Λ$ longitudinal spin transfers in the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering process is intensively studied. The study is performed in the current fragmentation region, by considering the intermediate hyperon decay processes and sea quark fragmentation processes, while the strange sea $s\bar s$ asymmetry in the nucleon is taken into account. The calculation in the light-cone quark-diquark model shows that the strange sea asymmetry gives a proper trend to the difference between the $Λ$ and $\bar Λ$ longitudinal spin transfers. When considering the nonz…
In order to examine polarized strange quark distribution, semi-inclusive $D/\Dbar$ production in neutrino deep inelastic scattering is studied including ${\cal O}(α_s)$ corrections. Cross section and spin asymmetry are calculated by using various parametrizations of polarized parton distribution functions. It is found that $\Dbar$ production is promising to directly extract the polarized strange sea.
Charged current charm and D meson production is studied in detail as a means of determining the unpolarized and polarized strange sea densities at HERA. All analyses are performed in next-to-leading order QCD, including a calculation of the so far unknown spin-dependent MSbar coefficient functions up to O(alpha_s). It is shown that a decent measurement is possible in the unpolarized case, provided a sufficient luminosity can be reached in the future, while for longitudinally polarized beams it appears to be extremely challenging due to limitations imposed on the expected statistical accuracy b…
The measurements of the hadronic final state in deep inelastic scattering at HERA are reviewed and discussed in the context of QCD. Covered are the general event properties in terms of energy flows, charged particle production, and charm and strangeness production. Quark fragmentation properties are studied in the Breit frame. Event shape measurements allow "power corrections" to be applied and the strong coupling alpha_s to be extracted. Other alpha_s measurements are based on dijet rates. Jet rates as well as charm production have been used to determine the gluon density in the proton. Indic…
We determine the masses of the light and the strange quarks in the MS-bar-scheme using our high-statistics lattice simulation of QCD with dynamical Wilson fermions. For each of our three sea quarks we have analyzed our data at five different values of the valence quark mass, enabling us to parameterize our fit results in the (sea-quark mass, valence quark mass) plane. For the light quark mass we find m_light(2 GeV) = 2.7(2) MeV, which is lower than in quenched simulations. Applying a new method, which we propose to extract the strange quark mass in a sea of two dynamical light quarks, we obtai…
After summarizing the results of QCD-instanton-perturbation theory for the calculation of instanton-induced effects in deep inelastic electron proton scattering, we discuss search strategies for instanton-induced effects that have been derived for HERA-conditions using the QCDINS-Monte Carlo. Recent results from the H1 collaboration are presented.
An idea of possible anomalous contribution of non-perturbative origin to the nucleon spin was examined by analysing data on spin asymmetries in polarized deep inelastic scattering of leptons on nucleons. The region of high Bjorken x was explored. It was shown that experimental data available at present do not evidence for this effect.
The semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) process is considered. A theoretical procedure is proposed allowing the direct extraction from the SIDIS data of the first moments of the polarized valence distributions and of the first moment difference of the light sea quark polarized distributions in the next to leading QCD order. The validity of the procedure is confirmed by the respective simulations.
The strange and antistrange quark distributions of the nucleon are less constrained by experimental data than the non-strange quark sea. The combination of light quark sea distributions, $Δ(x)=\dbar(x)+\ubar(x)-s(x)-\sbar(x)$, originates mainly from non-perturbative processes and can be calculated using non-perturbative models of the nucleon. We have calculated $Δ(x)$ using the meson cloud model, which, when combined with the relatively well known non-strange light antiquark distributions obtained from global analysis of available experimental data, enables us to make new estimates of the tota…
In charged current deep inelastic scattering charm is dominantly produced in scattering events on strange quarks, thereby allowing for an experimental determination of the nucleon's strange sea density. A measurement of the energy spectrum of final state charm fragments (D-mesons) determines the charm fragmentation function at spacelike scales considerably below typical e^+e^- c.m.s. energies. NLO corrections to the naive s -> c parton model production picture are important and well understood.
The strangeness degrees of freedom in the parton structure of the nucleon are explored in the global analysis framework, using the new CTEQ6.5 implementation of the general mass perturbative QCD formalism of Collins. We systematically determine the constraining power of available hard scattering experimental data on the magnitude and shape of the strange quark and anti-quark parton distributions. We find that current data favor a distinct shape of the strange sea compared to the isoscalar non-strange sea. A new reference parton distribution set, CTEQ6.5S0, and representative sets spanning the …
We study nuclear effects in charged current deep inelastic neutrino-iron scattering in the frame-work of a chi^2 analysis of parton distribution functions. We extract a set of iron PDFs and show that under reasonable assumptions it is possible to constrain the valence, light sea and strange quark distributions. Our iron PDFs are used to compute x_{Bj}-dependent and Q^2-dependent nuclear correction factors for iron structure functions which are required in global analyses of free nucleon PDFs. We compare our results with nuclear correction factors from neutrino-nucleus scattering models and cor…
We show how deeply virtual pseudoscalar meson production experiments single out the contribution of the four chiral odd quark-proton GPDs which are related to the so far elusive transversity distribution function, $h_1$. Furthermore, in the kinematical ranges of the proposed EIC, electroproduction of strange and charmed mesons will allow one to uniquely pin down the non-perturbative charmed component in the nucleon structure function, and at the same time provide new insights in the connection of the quark/gluon degrees of freedom with the meson-baryon description. The use of dispersion relati…
In this paper we discuss exclusive reactions which analysis can be used to receive direct indication of diquark existence. We make estimations of diquark scattering process measurement in inelastic proton-proton collisions. It was shown that putting special restrictions over kinematics and particles in final state of process it will be possible to enhance potential diquark contribution to scattering up to $10^4$. We put qualitative characteristics of process with diquark and ways to distinguish it from quark scattering in model-independent way.
We have performed a QCD next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation for Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) retaining the full parton and hadron mass dependencies. We find that the gluon initiated contributions to DIS processes, such as charm production, are {\it comparable} in magnitude ({\it i.e.}, $30\%$ to $100\%$) to the ``leading-order'' (LO) sea-quark processes. The ``slow-rescaling" prescription and the full NLO formalism are compared in a quantitative manner. The use of DIS distributions and the inclusion of the charm mass via slow-rescaling are not sufficient to mimic the correct NLO physics…
We describe the electroproduction ratios of baryon-meson states from nucleon, inferring from the sea quarks in the nucleon using an extension of the quark model that takes into account the sea. As a result we provide, with no adjustable parameters, the predictions of ratios of exclusive meson-baryon final states:$ΛK^+$, $Σ^{*}K$, $ΣK$, $pπ^0$, and $nπ^+$. These predictions are in agreement with the new Jlab experimental data showing that sea quarks play an important role in the electroproduction. We also predicted further ratios of exclusive reactions that can be measured and tested in future …
We show that the data of $p_{T}$ spectra of $Ω^{-}$ and $ϕ$ at midrapidity in inelastic events in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 13 TeV exhibit a constituent quark number scaling property, which is a clear signal of quark combination mechanism at hadronization. We use a quark combination model under equal velocity combination approximation to systematically study the production of identified hadrons in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 13 TeV. The midrapidity data of $p_{T}$ spectra of proton, $Λ$, $Ξ^{-}$, $Ω^{-}$, $ϕ$ and $K^{*}$ in inelastic events are simultaneously well fitted by the model. …
