The transverse size of q q-bar fluctuations of a longitudinally polarized photon is reduced relative to the transerve size of q q-bar fluctuation of a transversely polarized photon. This implies a model-independent prediction of the ratio R(W2,Q2)=sigma_L/sigma_T=0.375, or, equivalently, F_L/F_2=0.27, for x=Q2/W2<<1 and Q2 sufficiently large, while R(W2,Q2)=0.50, if this effect is ignored. Experimental data from HERA confirm the transverse-size reduction.
Based upon the color-dipole picture, we provide closed analytic expressions for the longitudinal and the transverse photoabsorption cross sections at low values of the Bjorken variable of x<0.1. We compare with the experimental data for the longitudinal-to-transverse ratio of the (virtual) photoabsorption cross section and with our previous fit to the experimental data for the total photoabsorption cross section. Scaling in terms of the low-x scaling variable eta(W^2,Q^2) is analyzed in terms of the reduced cross section of deep inelastic scattering.
We give a brief representation of the theoretical results from the color dipole picture, covering the total photoabsorption cross section, high-energy $J/ψ$ photoproduction with respect to recent experimental data from the LHCb Collaboration at CERN, and ultra-high energy neutrino scattering, relevant for the ICE-CUBE experiment.
We investigate the mass range of the quark-antiquark fluctuations of the photon that are active in producing the total photoabsorption cross section in the color dipole picture, emphasizing the notion of color transparency and saturation. We consider the implications of measurements at future extensions of the available electron-proton-scattering energy.
Possibilities for the measurement of the longitudinal structure function in diffraction $F_\mathrm{L}^\mathrm{D}$ at the future US Electron Ion Collider are investigated. The sensitivity to $F_\mathrm{L}^\mathrm{D}$ arises from the variation of the reduced diffractive cross section with centre-of-mass energy. Simulations are performed with various sets of beam energy combinations and for different assumptions on the precision of the diffractive cross section measurements. Scenarios compatible with current EIC performance expectations lead to an unprecedented precision on $F_\mathrm{L}^\mathrm{…
We revisit the evaluation of the pionic mechanism of the $\bar{u}-\bar{d}$-asymmetry in the proton structure function. Our analysis is based on the extended AGK unitarity relation between contributions of different mechanisms to the inclusive particle production and the total photoabsorption cross-section (i.e. the proton structure function). We reanalyze the role of isovector reggeons in inclusive production of nucleons and Delta isobars in hadronic reactions. We find rather large contribution of reggeon-exchange induced production of Delta isobars. This leaves much less room for the pion-exc…
In this paper we study the double longitudinal spin asymmetry of dihadron production in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS). We calculate a unknown twist-3 dihadron fragmentation function $\widetilde{D}^\sphericalangle$ within a spectator model which has been used successfully in describing the dihadron production in both the unpolarized and the single polarized processes. The collinear picture, in which the transverse momentum of the final state hadron pair is integrated out, has been considered. The $\cosϕ_R$ azimuthal asymmetry arises from the coupling $e_L H_1^\sphericalangle$…
We calculate the light cone wave functions for a virtual photon to split into quark-antiquark states, including for the first time quark masses at one loop accuracy. These wave functions can be used to calculate cross sections for several precision probes of perturbative gluon saturation at the Electron-Ion Collider. Using these wave functions we derive, for the first time, the dipole picture DIS cross sections at one loop for longitudinal and transverse virtual photons including quark masses. The quark masses are renormalized in the pole mass scheme, satisfying constraints from the requiremen…
We calculate exclusive production of a longitudinally polarized heavy vector meson at next-to-leading order in the dipole picture. The large quark mass allows us to separately include both the first QCD correction proportional to the coupling constant $α_s$, and the first relativistic correction suppressed by the quark velocity $v^2$. Both of these corrections are found to be numerically important in $\mathrm{J}/ψ$ production. The results obtained are directly suitable for phenomenological calculations. We also demonstrate how vector meson production provides complementary information to struc…
We investigate the various distributions explaining multi-dimensional structure of kaon at the level of its constituents ($u$ and $\bar{s}$) using the light-cone quark model. The overlap form of wavefunctions associated with the light-cone quark model is adopted for the calculations. The generalized parton distributions(GPDs)of $u$ and $\bar{s}$ quarks are presented for the case when the momentum transfer in the longitudinal direction is non-zero. The dependence of kaon GPDs is studied in terms of variation of quark longitudinal momentum fraction, momentum transfer in longitudinal direction an…
Exclusive production of transversely polarized heavy vector mesons in deep inelastic scattering at high energy is calculated at next-to-leading order accuracy in the Color Glass Condensate framework. In addition to the first QCD correction proportional to the strong coupling constant $α_s$, we systematically also include the first relativistic correction proportional to the heavy quark velocity squared $v^2$. When combined with our previously published results for longitudinal vector meson production at next-to-leading order accuracy, these results make phenomenological calculations of heavy v…
We study the single longitudinal-spin asymmetry of dihadron production in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering process. We consider the collinear picture in which the transverse momentum of the final-state hadron pair is integrated out, such that the $\sin ϕ_R$ azimuthal asymmetry arises from the coupling $h_L\, H_{1}^{\sphericalangle}$ as well as the coupling $g_1 \,\widetilde{G}^{\sphericalangle}$. We calculate the unknown twist-3 dihadron fragmentation function $\widetilde{G}^{\sphericalangle}$ using a spectator model which is successful in describing the dihadron production in the unpo…
We study the chiral separation effect (CSE) in two-color and two-flavor QCD (QC$_2$D) to delineate quasiparticle pictures in dense matter from low to high temperatures. Both massless and massive quarks are discussed. We particularly focus on the high density domain where diquarks form a color singlet condensate with the electric charge $1/3$. The condensate breaks baryon number and $U(1)_A$ axial symmetry, and induces the electromagnetic Meissner effects. Within a quark quasiparticle picture, we compute the chiral separation conductivity at one-loop. We have checked that Nambu-Goldstone modes,…
