We discuss the tuning of the anisotropic clover action and Symanzik-improved gauge action in lattice perturbation theory. The fermion action is constructed from stout-smeared spatial links, which complicates the calculation considerably. In addition, the full quark-mass dependence of the action parameters is included in this study. We present results for the fermion and gauge aspect ratios for varying bare aspect ratios, quark masses and smearing parameters.
Wilson quark action, with tadpole improved clover term added, is studied on coarse anisotropic lattices. The bare velocity of light parameter in this action is determined non-perturbatively using the pseudo-scalar and vector meson dispersion relations for various values of the gauge coupling $β$ and bare quark mass parameter $κ$.
We study a block spin transformation in the SU(3) lattice gauge theory on anisotropic lattices to obtain Iwasaki's renormalization group improved action for anisotropic cases. For the class of actions with plaquette and $1\times2$ rectangular terms, we determine the improvement parameters as functions of the anisotropy $ξ= a_s/a_t$. We find that the program of improvement works well also on anisotropic lattices. From a study of an indicator which estimates the distance to the renormalized trajectory, we show that, for the range of the anisotropy $ξ\approx 1$--4, the coupling parameters previou…
Static quark potential is studied using a tadpole improved gauge lattice action. The scale is set using the potential for a wide range of bare parameters. The renormalized anisotropy of the lattice is also measured.
$ππ$ scattering length in the I=2 channel is calculated within quenched approximation using improved gauge and improved Wilson fermion actions on anisotropic lattices. The results are extrapolated towards the chiral, infinite volume and continuum limit. This result improves our previous result on the scattering length. In the chiral, infinite volume and continuum limit, we obtain $a^{(2)}_0m_π=-0.0467(45)$, which is consistent with the result from Chiral Perturbation Theory, the experiment and results from other lattice calculations.
In this work, we perform parameter tuning with dynamical anisotropic clover lattices using the Schrödinger functional and stout-smearing in the fermion field. We find that $ξ_R/ξ_0$ is relatively close to 1 in our parameter search, which allows us to fix $ξ_0$ in our runs. We proposed to determine the gauge and fermion anisotropy in a Schrödinger-background small box using Wilson loop ratios and PCAC masses. We demonstrate that these ideas are equivalent to but more efficient than the conventional meson dispersion approach. The spatial and temporal clover coefficients are fixed to the tree-lev…
We study the glueballs properties at finite temperature using SU(3) lattice QCD at the quenched level with the anisotropic lattice. We use the tree-level Symanzik O(a^2) improved action. We present our preliminary results which shows the slight reduction of the scalar glueball mass near T_c
The use of novel perturbatively-improved gluonic actions on anisotropic lattices in which the temporal spacing is much smaller than that in the spatial directions is discussed. Such actions permit more efficient measurements of noisy correlation functions, such as glueball correlators, on coarse lattices. A derivation of these actions at tree-level is outlined; mean-field link renormalization plays a crucial role in their construction. Results for the low-lying glueball masses and the heavy-quark potential are presented.
The $Λ$ parameter on the anisotropic lattice, the spatial and temperature coupling constant $g_σ$, $g_τ$ and their derivative with respaect to the the anisotropy parameter $ξ$ are studied perturbatively for the class of improved actions, which cover tree level Symanzik's, Iwasaki's and QCDTARO's improved actions. The $η(=g_τ/g_σ)$ becomes less than 1 for Iwasaki's and QCDTARO's action, which is confirmed nonperturbatively by numerical simulations. Derivatives of the coupling constants with respect to the anisotropy parameter, $\partial g_τ/\partial ξ$ and $\partial g_σ/\partial ξ$, change sign…
In this work we perform the parameter tuning of three flavors of dynamical clover quarks on anisotropic lattices. The fermion action uses three-dimensional spatial stout-link smearing. The gauge anisotropy is determined in a small box with Schrödinger background using Wilson-loop ratios. The fermion anisotropy is obtained from studying the meson dispersion relation with antiperiodic boundary conditions in the time direction. The spatial and temporal clover coefficients are fixed to the tree-level tadpole-improved values, and we demonstrate that they satisfy the nonperturbative conditions as de…
We study hadron properties near the deconfining transition in the quenched lattice QCD simulation. This paper focuses on the heavy quarkonium states, such as $J/ψ$ meson. In order to treat heavy quarks at $T>0$, we adopt the $O(a)$ improved Wilson action on anisotropic lattice. We discuss $c\bar{c}$ bound state observing the wave function and compare the meson correlators at above and below $T_c$. Although we find a large change of correlator near the $T_c$, the strong spatial correlation which is almost the same as confinement phase survives even $T\sim 1.5T_c$.
The six quark state(uuddss) called H dibaryon($J^P=0^+$,$S=-2$) has been calculated to study its existence and stability. The simulations are performed in quenched QCD on $8^3 \times 24$ and $16^3 \times 48$ anisotropic lattices with Symanzik improved gauge action and Clover fermion action. The gauge coupling is $β=2.0$ and aspect ratio $ξ=a_s/a_t=3.0$. Preliminary results indicate that mass of H dibaryon is 2134(100)Mev on $8^3 \times 24$ lattice and 2167(59)Mev on $16^3 \times 48$ respectively. It seems that the radius of H dibaryon is very large and the finite size effect is very obvious.
Charmed meson charmonium spectra are studied with improved quark actions on anisotropic lattices. We measured the pseudo-scalar and vector meson dispersion relations for 4 lowest lattice momentum modes with quark mass values ranging from the strange quark to charm quark with 3 different values of gauge coupling $β$ and 4 different values of bare speed of light $ν$. With the bare speed of light parameter $ν$ tuned in a mass-dependent way, we study the mass spectra of $D$, $D_s$, $η_c$, $D^{\ast}$, $D_s^{\ast}$ and $J/ψ$ mesons. The results extrapolated to the continuum limit are compared with t…
General O(alpha) radiative corrections to lattice actions may be interpreted as counterterms that give additive contributions to the one-loop renormalisation of the anisotropy. The effect of changing the radiative coefficients is thus easily calculable. In particular, the results obtained in a previous paper for Landau mean link improved actions apply in any tadpole improvement scheme. We explain how this method can be exploited when tuning radiatively improved actions. Efficient methods for self-consistently tuning tadpole improvement factors are also discussed.
We investigate the Symanzik improvement of the Wilson quark action on anisotropic lattices. Taking first a general action with nearest-neighbor and clover interactions, we study the mass dependence of the ratio of the hopping parameters, the clover coefficients, and an improvement coefficient for heavy-light vector and axial vector currents. We show how tree-level improvement can be achieved. For a particular choice of the spatial Wilson coupling, the results simplify, and $O(m_0a_τ)$ improvement is possible. (Here $m_0$ is the bare quark mass and $a_τ$ the temporal lattice spacing.) With this…
Tadpole improved Wilson quark actions with clover terms on anisotropic lattices are studied numerically. Using asymmetric lattice volumes, the pseudo-scalar meson dispersion relations are measured for 8 lowest lattice momentum modes with quark mass values ranging from the strange to the charm quark with various values of the gauge coupling $β$ and 3 different values of the bare speed of light parameter $ν$. These results can be utilized to extrapolate or interpolate to obtain the optimal value for the bare speed of light parameter $ν_{opt}(m)$ at a given gauge coupling for all bare quark mass …
Results from simulations of quarkonia and heavy-light mesons on an anisotropic lattice are presented. The improved quark action and action-parameter tuning used in this study are discussed.
The $O(a)$ improved Wilson quark action on the anisotropic lattice is investigated. We carry out numerical simulations in the quenched approximation at three values of lattice spacing ($a_σ^{-1}=1$--2 GeV) with the anisotropy $ξ=a_σ/a_τ=4$, where $a_σ$ and $a_τ$ are the spatial and the temporal lattice spacings, respectively. Using the dispersion relation of mesons, the bare anisotropy $γ_F$ in the quark action is numerically tuned below the charm quark mass region with the statistical accuracy of 1 % level. The systematic uncertainties in the calibration are examined and found to be under con…
The quantum correction of the anisotropy parameter, $η$, is calculated for $ξ=2$ and 3 in the $β$ region where numerical simulations such as hadron spectroscopy are currently carried out, for the improved actions composed of plaquette and rectangular 6-link loops. The $β$ dependences of $η$ for the renormalization group improved actions are quite different from those of the standard and Symanzik actions. In Iwasaki and DBW2 actions, $η$ stays almost constant in a wide range of $β$, which also differs from the one-loop perturbative result, while in the case of Symanzik action, it increases as $…
The studies of the quantum corrections for the anisotropy parameter,$η(=ξ_R/ξ_B)$, for the improved actions, $β(C_0 L({Plaq.}) + C_1 L({Rect.}))$, are proceeded in the medium to strong coupling region on anisotropic lattices. The global features for the $η$ parameters as a function of $β$ and the coefficient $C_{1}$ have been clarified. It has been found by the perturbative analysis that as $C_1$ decreases, the slope of the $η(β)$ becomes less steep and for the actions whose $C_{1}$ is less than -0.160, $η$ decreases as $β$ decreases, contrary to the case of the standard action. In the medium …
Using the infrared dispersion relation of the on shell gluon, we calculate the renormalisation of the the anisotropy to one loop in perturbation theory for lattice Yang-Mills theories, including the Wilson action and actions with Symanzik and/or tadpole improvement. Using twisted boundary conditions as a gauge invariant infrared regulator, we show for an SU(3) gauge group in D=3+1 dimensions that the one loop anisotropy is accurate to O(3%) for a range of g^2 and chi covering current simulations. In doing so we also present Feynman rules for SU(N) gauge groups with generic anisotropy structure…
We study hybrid mesons from the clover and improved gauge actions at $β=2.6$ on the anisotropic $12^3\times36$ lattice using our PC cluster. We estimate the mass of $1^{-+}$ light quark hybrid as well as the mass of the charmonium hybrid. The improvement of both quark and gluonic actions, first applied to the hybrid mesons, is shown to be more efficient in reducing the lattice spacing and finite volume errors.
We report on our study of two-flavor full QCD on anisotropic lattices using $O(a)$-improved Wilson quarks coupled with an RG-improved glue. The bare gauge and quark anisotropies corresponding to the renormalized anisotropy $ξ=a_s/a_t = 2$ are determined as functions of $β$ and $κ$, using the Wilson loop and the meson dispersion relation at several lattice cutoffs and quark masses.
We perform a nonperturbative tuning of the coefficients in the $O(a^2)$ improved action for staggered fermions. The mass splitting for the pions of different doubler flavor is used as a measure of the symmetry breaking effects introduced by $O(a^2)$ discretization errors. We find that the flavor nondegeneracy can be somewhat reduced but not eliminated by such a tuning, indicating the need for new terms in the action to reduce the nondegeneracy.
We calculated the SU(2) gluon propagator in Landau gauge on an anisotropic coarse lattice with the improved action. The standard and the improved scheme are used to fix the gauge in this work. Even on the coarse lattice the lattice gluon propagator can be well described by a function of the continuous momentum. The effect of the improved gauge fixing scheme is found not to be apparent. Based on the Marenzoni's model, the mass scale and the anomalous dimension are extracted and can be reasonably extrapolated to the continuum limit with the values $α\sim 0.3$ and $M\sim 600MeV$. We also extract …
We construct the effective field theory appropriate for describing the low energy behavior of anisotropic Wilson lattice actions and the O(a) improved variant thereof. We then apply this effective field theory to the hadron spectrum and dispersion relations, focussing on the corrections due to the anisotropy. We point out an important feature of anisotropic lattices regarding the Aoki-regime; for a given set of fermion masses and spatial lattice spacing, if an isotropic action is in the QCD-phase, this does not guarantee that the anisotropic action is outside the Aoki-regime. This may be impor…
The bare anisotropy $γ_F$ in the quark field action is numerically tuned by the dispersion relation of mesons so that the renormalized fermionic anisotropy coincides with that of gauge field. This calibration of bare anisotropy is performed to the level of 1 % statistical…
On anisotropic lattices with the anisotropy $ξ=a_σ/a_τ$ the following basic parameters are calculated by perturbative method: (1) the renormalization of the gauge coupling in spatial and temporal directions, $g_σ$ and $g_τ$, (2) the $Λ$ parameter, (3) the ratio of the renormalized and bare anisotropy $η=ξ/ξ_B$ and (4) the derivatives of the coupling constants with respect to $ξ$, $\partial g_σ^{-2}/\partial ξ$ and $\partial g_τ^{-2}/\partial ξ$. We employ the improved gauge actions which consist of plaquette and six-link rectangular loops, $c_0 P(1 \times 1)_{μν} + c_1 P(1 \times 2)_{μν}$. Thi…
One-loop corrections to the fermion rest mass M_1, wave function renormalization Z_2 and speed of light renormalization C_0 are presented for lattice actions that combine improved glue with clover or D234 quark actions and keep the temporal and spatial lattice spacings, a_t and a_s, distinct. We explore a range of values for the anisotropy parameter χ= a_s/a_t and treat both massive and massless fermions.
The simulation of QCD on dynamical (Nf=2) anisotropic lattices is described. A method for nonperturbative renormalisation of the parameters in the anisotropic gauge and quark actions is presented. The precision with which this tuning can be carried out is determined in dynamical simulations on 8^3x48 and 8^3x80 lattices.
In an exploratory study, using the tadpole improved clover Wilson quark action on small, coarse and anisotropic lattices, the $ππ$ scattering length in the I=2 channel is calculated within quenched approximation. A new method is proposed which enables us to make chiral extrapolation of our lattice results without calculating the decay constant on the lattice. Finite volume and finite lattice spacing errors are analyzed and the results are extrapolated towards the infinite volume and continuum limit. Comparisons of our lattice results with the new experiment and the results from Chiral Perturba…
The calculation of the light-hadron spectrum in the quenched approximation to QCD using an anisotropic clover fermion action is presented. The tuning of the parameters of the action is discussed, using the pion and rho dispersion relation. The adoption of an anisotropic lattice provides clear advantages in the determination of the baryonic resonances, and in particular that of the so-called Roper resonance, the lightest radial excitation of the nucleon.
Exploratory studies of heavy meson semileptonic decays on coarse lattices using Symanzik improved glue, NRQCD heavy and D234 light quarks are discussed. Comparisons are made between calculations on anisotropic and isotropic lattices. We find evidence that having an anisotropy helps in extracting better signals at higher momenta.
We present preliminary results for the Upsilon spectrum on an anisotropic lattice using the improved O(mv^6) NRQCD Hamiltonian. We find accurate results can be obtained in moderate computer times and that they agree with earlier results on an isotropic lattice.
Monte Carlo results for the low-lying glueball spectrum using an improved, anisotropic action are presented. Ten simulations at lattice spacings ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 fm and two different anisotropies have been performed in order demonstrate the advantages of using coarse, anisotropic lattices to calculate glueball masses. Our determinations of the tensor (2++) and pseudovector (1+-) glueball masses are more accurate than previous Wilson action calculations.
We describe a lattice calculation of the matrix elements relevant for glueball production in $J / ψ$ radiative decays. The techniques for such a calculation on anisotropic lattices with an improved action are outlined. We present preliminary results showing the efficacy of the computational method.
We formulate the massive domain wall fermions on anisotropic lattices. For the massive domain wall fermion, we find that the dispersion relation assumes the usual form in the low momentum region when the bare parameters are properly tuned. The quark self-energy and the quark field renormalization constants are calculated to one-loop in bare lattice perturbation theory. For light domain wall fermions, we verified that the chiral mode is stable against quantum fluctuations on anisotropic lattices. This calculation serves as a guidance for the tuning of the parameters in the quark action in futur…
Results from a calculation of the low-lying glueball spectrum of pure-gauge SU(3) are used as a test of the effectiveness of improved discretisation schemes in reducing finite spacing errors. Glueball masses are extracted from simulations on anisotropic lattices, where the temporal lattice spacing is much shorter than the spatial ones. This allows clearer resolution of the decay of glueball correlators.
We have studied the link-integration method for the improved actions. With this method the $η$ parameter in the medium to strong coupling regions is obtained. Effects of the self-energy terms for the $η$ parameters are small in the regions of $β$ and $η$ studied. After these investigations, the anisotropic lattice is used for the calculation of transport coefficients of the quark gluon plasma.
We investigate the anisotropic lattice with $O(a)$ improved quark action as a candidate of framework in which we can treat both the heavy and light quark region in the same manner and systematically reduce the systematic uncertainties. To examine applicability of anisotropic lattice, we calculate the charmed meson spectrum and decay constants in quenched approximation. We find consistent result with most advanced results on isotropic lattices.
We present results for the spectrum of static-light mesons from Nf=2 lattice QCD. These results were obtained using all-to-all light quark propagators on an anisotropic lattice, yielding an improved signal resolution when compared to more conventional lattice techniques. In particular, we consider the inversion of orbitally-excited multiplets with respect to the `standard ordering', which has been predicted by some quark models.
We analyze the meson correlator in the spatial direction at finite temperature. To achieve fine resolution in the spatial direction, we use an anisotropic lattice with the standard Wilson plaquette gauge action and the $O(a)$ improved Wilson quark action. Below and above $T_c$, properties of correlators are investigated by two methods: fits with ansatz for the spectral function, and direct reconstruction of the spectral function using the maximum entropy method.
Results for the inter-quark potential and low-lying SU(3) glueball spectrum from simulations using a new improved action are presented. The action, suitable for highly anisotropic lattices, contains a two-plaquette term coupling with a negative coefficient as well as incorporating Symanzik improvement.
We use the Wilson flow to define the gauge anisotropy at a given physical scale. We demonstrate the use of the anisotropic flow by performing the tuning of the bare gauge anisotropy in the tree-level Symanzik action for several lattice spacings and target anisotropies. We use this method to tune the anisotropy parameters in full QCD, where we also exploit the diminishing effect of a well chosen smearing on the renormalization of the fermion anisotropy.
We describe two ideas useful in the construction of highly improved quark actions for simulations on coarse lattices: (1) Field transformations to solve the doubler problem without destroying tree-level improvement for on- or off-shell quantities. (2) Anisotropic lattices with smaller temporal than spatial lattice spacing. We present first simulation results for the quenched light hadron and charmonium spectra obtained with a D234 action on anisotropic lattices.
Lattice gluon propagators are studied using tadpole and Symanzik improved gauge action in Landau gauge. The study is performed using anisotropic lattices with asymmetric volumes. The Landau gauge dressing function for the gluon propagator measured on the lattice is fitted according to a leading power behavior: $Z(q^2)\simeq (q^2)^{2κ}$ with an exponent $κ$ at small momenta. The gluon propagators are also fitted using other models and the results are compared. Our result is compatible with a finite gluon propagator at zero momentum in Landau gauge.
We determine the one-loop correction to the anisotropy factor for the square Symanzik improved lattice action, extracted fromthe finite volume effective action for SU(N) gauge theories in the background of a zero-momentum gauge field. The result is smaller by approximately a factor 3 than the one-loop correction for the anisotropic Wilson action. We also comment on the Hamiltonian limit.
The low-lying glueball masses and the hadronic scale $r_0$ are computed in lattice SU(3) gauge theory with the aim of establishing the effectiveness of the improved action approach in removing finite-spacing artifacts. The use of anisotropic lattices in which the temporal spacing is much smaller than that in the spatial directions allows much more efficient glueball mass measurements.
We study hadronic two- and three-point correlators relevant for heavy to light pseudoscalar meson semi-leptonic decays, using Symanzik improved glue, D234 light quark and NRQCD heavy quark actions. Detailed comparisons are made between simulations on anisotropic and isotropic lattices involving finite momentum hadrons. We find evidence that having an anisotropy helps in extracting better signals at higher momenta. Initial results for the form factors f_+(q^2) and f_0(q^2) are presented with tree-level matching of the lattice heavy-light currents.
The mass spectrum of baryons in the spin-3/2 sector is computed in quenched lattice QCD using a tadpole-improved anisotropic action. Both isospin 1/2 and 3/2 (the traditional decuplet) are considered, as well as members that contain strange quarks. States with positive and negative parities are isolated by parity projection, while states with spin-3/2 and spin-1/2 are separated by spin projection. The extent to which spin projection is needed is examined. The issue of optimal interpolating field is also investigated. The results are discussed in relation to previous calculations and experiment…
We report on our study of two-flavor full QCD on anisotropic lattices using $O(a)$-improved Wilson quarks coupled with an RG-improved glue. The bare gauge and quark anisotropies corresponding to the renormalized anisotropy $ξ=a_s/a_t = 2$ are determined as functions of $β$ and $κ$, which covers the region of spatial lattice spacings $a_s\approx 0.28$--0.16 fm and $m_{PS}/m_V\approx 0.6$--0.9. The calibrations of the bare anisotropies are performed with the Wilson loop and the meson dispersion relation at 4 lattice cutoffs and 5--6 quark masses. Using the calibration results we calculate the me…
We present our final results of the charmonium spectrum in quenched QCD on anisotropic lattices. Simulations are made with the plaquette gauge action and a tadpole improved clover quark action employing $ξ= a_s/a_t = 3$. We calculate the spectrum of S- and P-states and their excitation, and study the scaling behavior of mass splittings. Comparison is made with the experiment and previous lattice results. The issue of hyperfine splitting for different choices of the clover coefficients obtained by Klassen is discussed.
We present the results of quenched charmonium spectrum for S- and P-states, obtained by a relativistic heavy quark method on anisotropic lattices. Simulations are carried out using the standard plaquette gauge action and a meanfield-improved clover quark action at $a_t^{-1} = 3$--6 GeV with the renormalized anisotropy fixed to $ξ\equiv a_s/a_t =3$. We study the scaling of our fine and hyperfine mass splittings, and compare with previous results.
We examine whether the $O(a)$ improved quark action on anisotropic lattices can be used as a framework for the heavy quark, which enables precision computation of matrix elements of heavy-light mesons. To this end, it is crucial to verify that a mass independent and nonperturbative tuning of the parameters is possible. As a first step, we observe the dispersion relation of heavy-light mesons on a quenched lattice using the action which is nonperturbatively tuned only for the leading terms. On a lattice with the spatial cutoff $a_σ^{-1} \simeq$ 1.6 GeV and the anisotropy $ξ=4$, the relativity r…
The glueball-to-vacuum matrix elements of local gluonic operators in scalar, tensor, and pseudoscalar channels are investigated numerically on several anisotropic lattices with the spatial lattice spacing in the range 0.1fm -- 0.2fm. These matrix elements are needed to predict the glueball branching ratios in $J/ψ$ radiative decays which will help to identify the glueball states in experiments. Two types of improved local gluonic operators are constructed for a self-consistent check, and the finite volume effects are also studied. The lattice spacing dependence of our results is very small and…
We present results for the mass spectrum of $c{\bar c}$ mesons simulated on anisotropic lattices where the temporal spacing $a_t$ is only half of the spatial spacing $a_s$. The lattice QCD action is the Wilson gauge action plus the clover-improved Wilson fermion action. The two clover coefficients on an anisotropic lattice are estimated using mean links in Landau gauge. The bare velocity of light $ν_t$ has been tuned to keep the anisotropic, heavy-quark Wilson action relativistic. Local meson operators and three box sources are used in obtaining clear statistics for the lowest lying and first …
