The properties of light leptoquarks predicted in the context of a simple grand unified theory and their observability at the LHC are investigated. The SU(5) symmetry of the theory implies that the leptoquark couplings to matter are related to the neutrino mass matrix. We study the resulting connection between neutrino masses and mixing parameters and the leptoquark decays, and show that different light neutrino hierarchies imply distinctive leptoquark decay signatures. We also discuss low-energy constraints implied by searches for charged lepton flavour violation, studies of meson decays, and electroweak precision data. We perform a detailed parton-level study of the leptoquark signals and the Standard Model backgrounds at the LHC. With the clean final states containing a di-lepton plus two jets, the QCD production of the leptoquark pair can be observed for a leptoquark mass of one TeV and beyond. By examining the lepton flavor structure of the observed events, one could further test the model predictions related to the neutrino mass spectrum. In particular, b-flavor tagging will be useful in distinguishing the neutrino mass pattern and possibly probing an unknown Majorana phase in the Inverted Hierarchy or the Quasi-Degenerate scenario. Electroweak associated production of the leptoquark doublet can also be useful in identifying the quantum numbers of the leptoquarks and distinguishing between the neutrino mass spectra, even though the corresponding event rates are smaller than for QCD production. We find that with only the clean channel of mu+ E_T jets, one could expect an observable signal for a leptoquark masses of about 600 GeV or higher.
Theoretical predictions for the production cross sections of leptoquarks at the CERN LHC are presented including higher-order QCD corrections. These corrections reduce the dependence on the renormalization/factorization scales significantly. Moreover, they are required to exploit the leptoquark mass reach of the LHC experiments. In this sequel to an earlier analysis performed for the Tevatron collider we extend the leptoquark analysis to the LHC energy.
I will review simplified models with leptoquarks, which can explain recent anomalies in $B$-meson physics, and I will indicate the High-Luminosity LHC prospects for testing these theories, with a special focus to the efficient channel of pair leptoquark production in the $t\bar t$ plus missing energy final state.
We study implications of large lepton-quark-leptoquark couplings for direct leptoquark searches at Large Hadron Collider. We present all existing flavor constraints on the strength of these couplings assuming that leptoquarks under consideration interact exclusively with charged leptons and quarks of the same generation. We find that these leptoquarks can have sizeable couplings to the Standard Model fermions. This insures a self consistency of our study. We discuss the leptoquark production mechanisms at LHC and demonstrate the importance of inclusion of a t-channel pair production and, in pa…
We introduce a novel mechanism for the leptoquark pair production at LHC that is of a $t$-channel topology and is quark-quark initiated. This mechanism operates under fairly general conditions. One of them is that the two leptoquarks in question couple to the same lepton and the other one is that the fermion numbers of these two leptoquarks differ by two. The strength of the proposed mechanism provides an alternative way to the conventional processes to efficiently constrain the parameter space of the two leptoquark scenarios at LHC whenever the aforementioned conditions are met. We accordingl…
In this paper, we argue that an extension of the Standard Model with a single leptoquark and three right-handed neutrinos can explain the excess in the first-generation leptoquark search at the LHC. We also find that when the leptoquark has similarly sized couplings to all three generations, it produces additional signals which will soon be tested in the second- and third-generation leptoquark searches, as well as in decay channels consisting of two mixed flavor leptons and two jets. If the leptoquark only couples to the first generation, on the other hand, two of the right-handed neutrinos ne…
The searches for extra-dimensions, top resonances, 4th generation quarks and leptoquark signatures are presented. The results are based on proton-proton collision data for a center-of mass energy of7 or 8 TeV, corresponding to various integrated luminosities. No signal of physics beyond the Standard Model has been observed so far.
Within the 3-3-1 model framework, we consider the production and decay of fermionic leptoquarks into a striking experimental signature at the LHC: a narrow resonance at the $b$ jet plus same-sign dileptons channel. The data already accumulated by the LHC collaborations may hide a large number of events associated to the production and decay of such exotic quarks, allowing one to investigate large portions of the parameters space of the model. The observation or not of such events would shed light on the construction of models presenting heavy exotic quarks.
Recent searches for a first-generation leptoquark by the CMS collaboration have shown around 2.5 sigma deviations from Standard Model predictions in both the eejj and e nu jj channels. Furthermore, the eejj invariant mass distribution has another 2.8 sigma excess from the CMS right-handed W plus heavy neutrino search. We point out that additional leptoquark production from a heavy coloron decay can provide a good explanation for all three excesses. The coloron has a mass around 2.1 TeV and the leptoquark mass can vary from 550 GeV to 650 GeV. A key prediction of this model is an edge in the to…
We present the scalar leptoquark pair production process at the LHC computed at the next-to-leading order in QCD, matched to the PYTHIA parton shower using the MC@NLO formalism. We consider the leading order decay of a leptoquark to a lepton ($e,μ,τ$ or $ν_e,ν_μ,ν_τ$) and a jet and observe the effects of parton shower on the final states. For demonstration, we display the kinametical distributions of a selection of observables along with their scale uncertainties for the 13 TeV LHC. We also present pair production cross sections and $K$-factors using massless five-quark flavor scheme for diffe…
We investigate asymmetric leptoquark pair production mechanism at the Large Hadron Collider to advocate its potential relevance to establish reliable constraints on the leptoquark parameter space and its ability to aid in correct identification of these attractive sources of new physics. The main feature of asymmetric pair production that genuinely distinguishes it from the usual leptoquark pair production is given by the fact that the two leptoquarks that are produced in proton-proton collisions through a $t$-channel lepton exchange are not charge conjugates of each other. Hence the proposed …
Evidence for electron-muon universality violation that has been revealed in $b\to s \ell\ell$ transitions in the observables $R_{K,K^*}$ by the LHCb Collaboration can be explained with spin-1 leptoquarks in $SU(2)_L$ singlet $V_1$ or triplet $V_3$ representations in the ${\cal{O}}(1-10)$ TeV range. We explore the sensitivity of the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and future proton-proton colliders to $V_1$ and $V_3$ in the parameter space connected to $R_{K,K^*}$-data. We consider pair production and single production in association with muons in different flavor benchmarks. Reinterpreting a rece…
Current LHC searches for new colored particles generally focus on their pair production channels and assume any single production to be negligible. We argue that such an assumption may be unnecessary in some cases. Inclusion of model dependent single productions in pair production searches (or vice versa) can give us new information about model parameters or better exclusion limits. Considering the example of the recent CMS search for first generation scalar leptoquarks in the pair production channel, we illustrate how single productions can be systematically included in the signal estimations…
We perform a detailed analyses of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) capability to discover first generation vector leptoquarks through their pair production. We study the leptoquark signals and backgrounds that give rise to final states containing a pair e+e- and jets. Our results show that the LHC will be able to discover vector leptoquarks with masses up to 1.3-2.1 TeV depending on their couplings to fermions and gluons.
The discovery potential of the ATLAS detector for scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC is discussed in this paper. The study is performed using a parameterized yet realistic simulation of the ATLAS detector response for the signal and the background. The channel LQLQ->(lq)(lq),where l=e,mu, is investigated for the first two generations and the decay mode LQLQ->(nu_tau b)(nu_tau b) for the third one. In both cases, a preliminary mass reach is found to be ~1.3 TeV for three years of LHC running at low luminosity.
Measurements of single Higgs production and its decays are in good agreement with the Standard Model. There is still room for large modifications in double Higgs production at LHC, though these effects may be correlated with large corrections to other observables, in particular single Higgs production. In this work we address the issue of enhancing double Higgs production in the presence of scalar leptoquarks while satisfying all experimental constraints. We show at leading order that including more than one species of leptoquarks, large cubic interactions with the Higgs can lead to sizable en…
We study contributions of single scalar or vector leptoquark (LQ) to loop-induced Higgs processes, gluon fusion production ($g g \to h$) and $h \to γγ$ decay, by analyzing the current Higgs data from the LHC Run I and II. Scalar LQ is studied in a model independent way, while the vector LQ $U_1(\mathbf{3},\mathbf{1},2/3)$ is discussed in the '4321' model. Constraints on the interactions of LQ and Higgs boson are obtained. We provide a method to determine vacuum expectation values $\upsilon_3$ and $\upsilon_1$ of the new scalar fields $Ω_3$ and $Ω_1$ in the '4321' model via the combination of H…
We comprehensively examine precision predictions for scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC. In particular, we investigate the impact of lepton $t$-channel exchange diagrams that are potentially relevant in the context of leptoquark scenarios providing an explanation for the flavour anomalies. We also evaluate the corresponding total rates at the next-to-leading order in QCD. Moreover, we complement this calculation with the resummation of soft-gluon radiation at the next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, hence providing the most precise predictions for leptoquark pair production …

We investigate the current LHC bounds on New Physics (NP) that contributes to $\bar B \to D^{(*)} l\barν$ for $l = (e,μ,τ)$ by considering both leptoquark (LQ) models and an effective-field-theory (EFT) Hamiltonian. Experimental analyses from $l+\text{missing}$ searches with high $p_T$ are applied to evaluate the NP constraints with respect to the Wilson coefficients. A novel point of this work is to show difference between LQs and EFT for the applicable LHC bound. In particular, we find that the EFT description is not valid to search for LQs with the mass less than $\lesssim 10\,\text{TeV}$ a…
In the light of recent experimental results from IceCube, LHC searches for scalar leptoquark, and the flavor anomalies $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$, we analyze two scalar leptoquark models with hypercharge $Y=1/6$ and $Y=7/6$. We consider the 53 high-energy starting events from IceCube and perform a statistical analysis, taking into account both the Standard Model and leptoquark contribution together. The lighter leptoquark states that are in agreement with IceCube are strongly constrained from LHC di-lepton+dijet search. Heavier leptoquarks in the TeV mass range are in agreement both with IceCube and …
We study the potentiality of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to unravel the existence of first generation scalar leptoquarks. Working with the most general $SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y$ invariant leptoquark interactions, we analyze in detail the signals and backgrounds that lead to a final state containing a pair $e^+e^-$ and jets. Our results indicate that a machine like the LHC will be able to discover leptoquarks with masses up to 2--3 TeV depending on their couplings.
We investigate the Standard Model (SM) extended with a colored charged scalar, leptoquark, having fractional electromagnetic charge $-1/3$. We mostly focus on the decays of the leptoquark into second and third generations via $c\,μ, t\, τ$ decay modes. We perform a PYTHIA-based simulation considering all the dominant SM backgrounds at the LHC with 14\,TeV center of mass energy. Limits have been calculated for the leptoquark mass that can be probed at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$. The leptoquark mass, reconstructed from its decay products into the third generation, ha…
The $t\bar t$ plus missing energy channel is one of the most efficient to detect third-generation leptoquarks (LQs). It offers an important test to models which explain flavor anomalies in $B$ meson decays. We outline a search strategy in the channel, relying on tagging the tops and on observables constructed out of the tops, and we assess the reach on LQs of the future high-luminosity LHC program. We find that with 3 ab$^{-1}$ a vector (scalar) LQ decaying 50% (100%) to top and neutrino can be excluded up to masses of 1.96 TeV (1.54 TeV). We also indicate several observables that, in case of …
Motivated by the persistent anomalies in the semileptonic $B$-meson decays, we investigate the competency of LHC data to constrain the $R_{D^{(*)}}$-favoured parameter space in a charge $-1/3$ scalar leptoquark ($\mathcal S_1$) model. We consider some scenarios with one large free coupling to accommodate the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies. As a result, some of them dominantly yield nonresonant $ττ$ and $τν$ events at the LHC through the $t$-channel $\mathcal S_1$ exchange. So far, no experiment has searched for leptoquarks using these signatures and the relevant resonant leptoquark searches are yet t…
Leptoquark searches are considered for future experiments at HERA, Tevatron, LHC, TESLA and THERA. Expected exclusion limits from direct leptoquark searches (leptoquark pair production and single leptoquark production) are compared with indirect limits expected from the contact interaction analysis. Strongest limits on the leptoquark masses and couplings are expected from high luminosity LHC data. If the leptoquark signal suggested by the existing data is detected at LHC, with mass below 1 TeV, TESLA will be an ideal place to study leptoquark properties, provided that the leptoquark Yukawa cou…
We study the discovery potential of the CMS detector for the scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC. Present and future exclusion limits are considered. We find that the maximal leptoquark mass reach is about 1.47 TeV for the branching ratio of Br(LQ_l -> l q)=100 %, while for Br(LQ_l -> l q)=50 % the upper limit is 1.2 TeV for an integrated luminosity of 100 fb-1. We obtain comparable results for electron and muon-type leptoquarks. The pileup effect at high luminosity is discussed.
We attempt to explain recent anomalies in semileptonic $B$ decays at LHCb via a composite Higgs model, in which both the Higgs and an $SU(2)_L$-triplet leptoquark arise as pseudo-Goldstone bosons of the strong dynamics. Fermion masses are assumed to be generated via the mechanism of partial compositeness, which largely determines the leptoquark couplings and implies non-universal lepton interactions. The latter are needed to accommodate tensions in the $b \to s μμ$ dataset and to be consistent with a discrepancy measured at LHCb in the ratio of $B^+ \to K^+ μ^+ μ^-$ to $B^+ \to K^+ e^+ e^-$ br…
CMS has recently reported a moderate excess in the $μνjj$ final state in a second generation Leptoquark search, but they have disregarded it because the excess is not present in the $μμjj$ final state and because they do not observe the expected resonant peak in the distributions. As a proof of concept we show that a simple Leptoquark model including second and third generation couplings with non-negligible single- and non-resonant production in addition to usual pair production could explain the data: excess ($μνjj$), lack of excess ($μμjj$) and missing peak in the distributions; while being …
Leptoquarks have recently received much attention especially because they may provide an explanation to the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomalies in rare $B$ meson decays. In a previous paper we proposed a systematic search strategy for all possible leptoquark flavors by focusing on leptoquark pair production. In this paper, we extend this strategy to large (order unity) leptoquark couplings which offer new search opportunities: single leptoquark production and $t$-channel leptoquark exchange with dilepton final states. We discuss the unique features of the different search channels and sh…
We investigate a model in which tiny neutrino masses are generated at the two-loop level by using scalar leptoquark and diquark multiplets. The diquark can be singly produced at the LHC, and it can decay into a pair of leptoquarks through the lepton number violating interaction. Subsequent decays of the two leptoquarks can provide a clear signature of the lepton number violation, namely two QCD jets and a pair of same-signed charged leptons without missing energy. We show that the signal process is not suppressed while neutrino masses are appropriately suppressed.
$B$-physics data and flavor symmetries suggest that leptoquarks can have masses as low as few ${\cal{O}}(\mbox{TeV})$, predominantly decay to third generation quarks, and highlight $pp \to b μμ$ signatures from single production and $pp \to b b μμ$ from pair production. Abandoning flavor symmetries could allow for inverted quark hierarchies, and cause sizable $pp \to j μμ$ and $jj μμ$ cross sections, induced by second generation couplings. Final states with leptons other than muons including lepton flavor violation (LFV) ones can also arise. The corresponding couplings can also be probed by pr…
We present the results of an analysis for the pair production of scalar leptoquarks at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with energy=14 TeV and luminosity=10 fb^{-1} which includes the dominant sources of Standard Model background associated to this process: top-antitop, ZZ, WZ and Z*jj production. The top-antitop process provides the main source of background. We consider leptoquarks introduced in the framework of a superstring-inspired E_6 model. The leptoquark production is found to be dominant in all regions of parameter space for leptoquark masses below 750 GeV. We establish the discov…
We perform a model-independent search for leptoquarks (LQs) at the Large Hadron Collider through their pair-production and subsequent decay into $t\bar t ττ$ intermediate states. We show that, assuming full luminosity of the Run 2, a fully hadronic signal emerging from this intermediate state can surpass in sensitivity the established searches relying on leptons in the final state. Our conclusion is supported by a thorough Monte-Carlo analysis, and we advocate the deployment of our proposed search channel in the proper experimental setting of the Run 3. Furthermore, in order to highlight the f…
Leptoquarks occur in many new physics scenarios and could be the next big discovery at the LHC. The purpose of this paper is to point out that a model-independent search strategy covering all possible leptoquarks is possible and has not yet been fully exploited. To be systematic we organize the possible leptoquark final states according to a leptoquark matrix with entries corresponding to nine experimentally distinguishable leptoquark decays: any of {light-jet, b-jet, top} with any of {neutrino, $e/μ$, $τ$}. The 9 possibilities can be explored in a largely model-independent fashion with pair-p…
In this report we study how a light-scalar leptoquark could affect the Higgs boson production cross-section at the LHC collider. We construct the most general renormalizable and gauge invariant effective Lagrangian involving the standard model particles and a scalar, isoscalar leptoquark, η. The total cross-section for pp -> H+X is then calculated for different values of the unknown parameters λ_eta, m_eta and m_H.(Here λ_eta is the coupling associated with the Higgs-leptoquark interaction.) We find that if λ_eta is moderately large and m_eta is around a few hundred GeV, then the cross-section…
We present precision predictions for scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC. Apart from QCD contributions, included are the lepton $t$-channel exchange diagrams relevant in the light of the recent $B$-flavour anomalies. All contributions are evaluated at next-to-leading order in QCD and improved by resummation, in the threshold regime, of the corrections from soft-gluon radiation at the next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy. All corrections are found equally relevant. Furthermore, the impact of different sets of parton distribution functions is discussed. These predictions constit…
We propose a leptoquark model with two scalar leptoquarks $S^{}_1 \left( \bar{3},1,\frac{1}{3} \right)$ and $\widetilde{R}^{}_2 \left(3,2,\frac{1}{6} \right)$ to give a combined explanation of neutrino masses, lepton flavor mixing and the anomaly of muon $g-2$, satisfying the constraints from the radiative decays of charged leptons. The neutrino masses are generated via one-loop corrections resulting from a mixing between $S^{}_1$ and $\widetilde{R}^{}_2$. With a set of specific textures for the leptoquark Yukawa coupling matrices, the neutrino mass matrix possesses an approximate $μ$-$τ$ refl…
The t-channel exchange of a first generation leptoquark could contribute to the cross-section for q q-bar to e+e-. The leptoquark is off-shell, so this process can be sensitive to leptoquarks beyond the mass reach of pair production searches at the LHC (currently m_{LQ}> 830 GeV). We attempt to analytically translate ATLAS bounds on $ (\bar{q} γ^μq) (\bar{e} γ_μe) $ contact interactions to the various scalar leptoquarks, and obtain a bound on their quark-lepton coupling of order $λ^2 \leq (m_{LQ}/2$ TeV)$^2$. The greatest difficulty in this translation is that the leptoquarks do not induce the…
In this article, we deal with how to distinguish the signatures of different \LQs at the LHC/FCC if all of them lie within similar mass and coupling range and can be produced at present and future colliders. It has been found that hard scattering cross-sections and angular distributions can be used to differentiate scalar and vector Leptoquarks. On the other hand, final state topology and determination of jet charge can separate \LQs with same spin even from same $SU(2)_L$ multiplet. We performed a PYTHIA8 based analysis considering all the dominant Standard Model (SM) backgrounds at the LHC/F…
We study the phenomenology of a particular leptoquark extension of the Standard Model (SM), namely the doublet-singlet scalar leptoquark extension of the SM (DSL-SM). Besides generating Majorana mass for neutrinos, these leptoquarks contribute to muon and electron $(g-2)$ and various lepton flavour violating processes. Collider signatures of the benchmark points (BPs), consistent with the neutrino oscillation data, anomalous muon/electron magnetic moments, experimental bounds on the charged lepton flavour violation observables, etc., are studied at the LHC/FCC with centre-of-mass energies of 1…
We perform a detailed analysis of the potentiality of the CERN Large Hadron Collider to study the single production of leptoquarks via $pp \to e^\pm q\to$ leptoquark $\to e^\pm q$, with $e^\pm$ generated by the splitting of photons radiated by the protons. Working with the most general $SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y$ invariant effective lagrangian for scalar and vector leptoquarks, we analyze in detail the leptoquark signals and backgrounds that lead to a final state containing an $e^\pm$ and a hard jet with approximately balanced transverse momenta. Our results indicate that the LHC will be able to …
Supersymmetric (SUSY) grand unified theories based on exceptional gauge groups such as E6 have recently triggered a lot of interest. Aside from top-down motivations, they contain phenomenologically interesting states with leptoquark quantum numbers. Their SUSY partners, leptoquarkinos, will appear similar to all R-odd particles in decay cascades, but mass edges in kinematic distributions- originating from the same semiexclusive final states-will however have major differences to the corresponding edges of ordinary squarks. This distortion of standard observables bears the opportunity to detect…
Fermion masses may arise via mixing of elementary fermions with composite fermions of a strong sector in scenarios of strongly-coupled electroweak symmetry breaking. The strong sector may contain leptoquark states with masses as light as several hundred GeV. In the present study we focus on the scalar modes of such leptoquarks since their bosonic couplings are determined completely and hence their production cross sections only depend on their masses. We study all the possible gauge-invariant non-derivative and single-derivative couplings of the scalar leptoquarks to the quarks and leptons, wh…
If electroweak symmetry breaking arises via strongly-coupled physics, the observed suppression of flavour-changing processes suggests that fermion masses should arise via mixing of elementary fermions with composite fermions of the strong sector. The strong sector then carries colour charge, and may contain composite leptoquark states, arising either as TeV scale resonances, or even as light, pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. The latter, since they are coupled to colour, get a mass of the order of several hundred GeV, beyond the reach of current searches at the Tevatron. The same generic mechanis…
The LHC search strategies for leptoquarks that couple dominantly to a top quark are different than for the ones that couple mostly to the light quarks. We consider charge $1/3$ ($ϕ_1$) and $5/3$ ($ϕ_5$) scalar leptoquarks that can decay to a top quark and a charged lepton ($t\ell$) giving rise to a resonance system of a boosted top and a high-$p_{\rm T}$ lepton. We introduce simple phenomenological models suitable for bottom-up studies and explicitly map them to all possible scalar leptoquark models within the Buchmüller-Rückl-Wyler classifications that can have the desired decays. We study pa…
We estimate the future sensitivity of the high luminosity (HL-) and high energy (HE-) modes of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and of a 100 TeV future circular collider (FCC-hh) to leptoquark (LQ) pair production in the muon-plus-jet decay mode of each LQ. Such LQs are motivated by the fact they provide an explanation for the neutral current $B-$anomalies. For each future collider, Standard Model (SM) backgrounds and detector effects are simulated. From these, sensitivities of each collider are found. Our measures of sensitivity are based upon a Run II ATLAS search, which we also use for valid…
Leptoquarks with mass in the region of $550-650$ GeV are a possible candidate for the recent excess seen by CMS in the $eejj$ and $e νjj$ channels. We discuss models where leptoquarks decay primarily to dark matter and jets, thereby giving a branching to charged lepton and jet final states that can match data. The confluence of proton decay constraints, dark matter indirect and direct detection data, and Higgs invisible decay bounds results in a handful of predictive models that will be conclusively verified or excluded in upcoming direct detection experiments. Along the way, we present robust…
Leptoquarks with masses at the TeV scale have been proposed as possible solutions to flavor anomalies reported in the b-flavor sector. Based on data taken in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\,\mathrm{TeV}$ at the LHC, different leptoquark flavors can be probed in various final states. In this article, the results of direct searches for single and pair production of leptoquarks conducted by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations are summarized.
We study limits from dilepton searches on leptoquark completions to the Standard Model in the parameter space motivated by anomalies in the $b \rightarrow s$ sector. After a full Run-2 analysis by LHCb, the disparity in lepton flavour violation has disappeared. However, the mismatch in angular distributions as well as in $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ partial width is still unresolved and still implies a possible new physics contribution. We probe three models of leptoquarks -- scalar models $S_3$ and $R_2$ as well as vector leptoquark model $U_1$ using non-resonant dilepton searches to place limit…
Given the hints of lepton-flavour non-universality in $B$-meson decays, leptoquarks (LQs) are enjoying a renaissance. We propose novel Large Hadron Collider (LHC) searches for such hypothetical states that do not rely on strong production only, but can also receive important contributions from quark-lepton annihilation. For the cases of a resonant signal involving a bottom quark and a tau lepton ($b + τ$), a top quark and missing transverse energy ($E_{T}^{\rm miss}$) and light-flavour jets plus $E_{T}^{\rm miss}$, we develop realistic analysis strategies and provide detailed evaluations of th…
At the LHC, the gluon-initiated processes are considered to be the primary source of di-Higgs production. However, in the presence of a new resonance, the light-quark initiated processes can also contribute significantly. In this paper, we look at the di-Higgs production mediated by a new singlet scalar. The singlet is produced in both quark-antiquark and gluon fusion processes through loops involving a scalar leptoquark and right-handed neutrinos. With benchmark parameters inspired from the recent resonant di-Higgs searches by the ATLAS collaboration, we examine the prospects of such a resona…
Purely leptonic $B$ meson decays provide unique probes for physics Beyond the Standard Model. We study the impact of a scalar leptoquark, $S_1$, on $B \to μ\barν$ decay. We find that, for $m_{S_1}\sim 1$ TeV, the $S_1$ leptoquark can modify the $B \to μ\barν$ rate significantly. Such a leptoquark can in prinicple also alter the $B \to τ\barν$ rate. However, current searches from LHC and low energy physics provide some constraints on the parameter space.
