In this work, we calculate the form factors for $J/ψ\to \bar{D}^{(*)0}$ induced by the flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) in terms of the QCD sum rules. Making use of these form factors, we further calculate the branching fractions of semileptonic decays $J/ψ\to \bar{D}^{(*)0} l ^+ l^-$ ($l=e, μ$). In particular, we formulate the matrix element $<J/ψ|T_{μν}| \bar{D}^{*0}>$ with $T_{μν}$ being a tensor current, which was not fully discussed in previous literature. Our analysis indicates that if only the standard model (SM) applies, the production of single charmed mesons at the present electron-positron colliders is too small to be observed even the resonance effects are included, therefore if an anomalous production rates are observed, it would be a hint of new physics beyond SM. Even though the predicted branching ratios are beyond the reach of present facilities which can be seen from a rough order estimate, the more accurate formulation of the three point correlation function derived in this work has theoretical significance and the technique can also be applied to other places. In analog to some complicated theoretical derivations which do not have immediate phenomenological application yet, if the future experiments can provide sufficient luminosity and accuracy, the results would be helpful.
Large long-distance standard model effects in FCNC semileptonic D decays can make observable these processes in future measurements. Eventual disagreements in this sector and/or the observation of lepton family violating (LFV) D decays would require an explanatio beyond the SM framework. In this paper we confront present experimental data on leptonic and semileptonic FCNC and LFV D meson decays with a version of the two-Higgs doublet model that allows these effects to occur at tree- level. The stringent bounds on the parameters of the model are obtained from D^0 --> l^+l'^- and D --> pi l^+l'^…
Rare B meson decays mediated by flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) transition play interesting role to probe the flavour sector of the standard model (SM). Generally at the tree level, FCNC processes are not allowed in the SM but occurs at the loop levels. This gives an excellent hunting ground for new physics (NP). From various experimental studies it is found that the FCNC processes having quark level transition $b \to s$ are challenging. Here, we investigate different kinematic observables like forward-backward asymmetry, differential branching ratio and lepton polarization asymmetry f…
We study the effect of the FCNC mediated $Z$ boson in the rare semileptonic baryonic decays $Λ_b \to Λl^+ l^-$. We consider the model where the standard model fermion sector is extended by an extra vector like down quark, as a consequence of which it allows CP violating Z mediated flavor changing neutral current at the tree level. We find that due to this non-universal $Zbs $ coupling, branching ratios of the rare semileptonic $Λ_b$ decays are enhanced reasonably from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetry for $Λ_b \to Λμ^+ μ^-$ is shifte…
We compare a non-factorizable charming-loop correction to an exclusive FCNC $B$-decay given in terms of the 3-particle Bethe-Salpeter amplitude (3BS) of the $B$-meson, $\langle 0|\bar q(x)G_{μν}(z)b(0)|B(p)\rangle$, with the corresponding correction to the $B$-meson semileptonic form factor. In spite of certain similarities, these two corrections are shown to have substantial differences: The form factor correction is dominated by the collinear light-cone configuration of 3BS: $z_μ= u x_μ$, $0 < u < 1$, $x^2=0$. In contrast, the FCNC amplitude is dominated by a different configuration with non…
We analyze the semileptonic $B \to a_1 \ell^+\ell^-$, $\ell=τ, μ, e$ transitions in the frame work of the three-point QCD sum rules in the standard model. These rare decays governed by flavor-changing neutral current transition of $b \to d$. Considering the quark condensate contributions, the relevant form factors as well as the branching fractions of these transitions are calculated.
We study the rare semileptonic and radiative leptonic B_s decays in the universal extra dimension model. In this scenario, with a single extra dimension, there exists only one new parameter beyond those of the standard model, which is the inverse of the compactification radius R. We find that with the additional contributions due to the KK modes the branching ratios of the rare B_s decays are enhanced from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetries are shifted towards the left.
The topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model predicts several pseudo-scalars called top-pions and at loop level they can induce the FCNC top quark decay t->cgg which is extremely suppressed in the Standard Model (SM). We find that in the allowed parameter space the TC2 model can greatly enhance such a FCNC decay and push the branching ratio up to 10^{-3}, which is much larger than the predictions in the SM (10^{-9}) and in the minimal supersymmetric model (10^{-4}). We also compare the result with the two-body FCNC decay t-> cg and find that the branching ratio of t-> cgg is slightly larger t…
In this paper, we study the extended Standard Model (SM) with an extra Higgs doublet and right-handed neutrinos. If the symmetry to distinguish the two Higgs doublets is not assigned, flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) involving the scalars are predicted even at the tree level. We investigate the constraints on the FCNCs at the one-loop level, and especially study the semileptonic $B$ meson decays, e.g. $B \to D^{(*)} τν$ and $B \to K^{(*)} ll$ processes, where the SM predictions are more than $2 σ$ away from the experimental results. We also consider the flavor-violating couplings invol…
In supersymmetry (SUSY) the flavor mixing between top-squark (stop) and charm-squark (scharm) induces the flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) stop decay $\tilde t_1 \to c \tilde χ^0_1$. Searching for this decay serves as a probe of soft SUSY breaking parameters. Focusing on the stop pair production followed by the FCNC decay of one stop and the charge-current decay of the other stop, we investigate the potential of detecting this FCNC stop decay at the Fermilab Tevatron, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the next-generation $e^+e^-$ linear collider (LC). We find that this decay may n…
Motivated by the search for flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) top quark decays at the LHC, we calculate rare Higgs three body decay $H\rightarrow Wbc$ induced by top-Higgs FCNC coupling in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity(LHT). We find that the branching ratios of $H\rightarrow Wbc$ in the LHT model can reach $\mathcal O(10^{-7})$ in the allowed parameter space.
This presentation reviews the main results of our recent work [A.K., D.M., N.N., Phys. Rev. D97, 053007 (2018)] on rare radiative leptonic decays $B_{d,s}\toγμ^+μ^-$ and $B_{d,s}\toγe^+e ^-$ induced by flavour-changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the Standard Model.
We analyze the effect of the non-universal $Z$ boson in the rare decays $B_s \to l^+ l^- $, $B_s \to l^+ l^- γ$ and $Z \to b \bar s$ decays. These decays involve the FCNC mediated $ b \to s $ transitions, and are found to be very small in the standard model. The smallness of these decays in the standard model makes them sensitive probe for new physics. We find an enhancement of at least an order in these branching ratios because of the non-universal $Zbs$ coupling.
The BaBar and Belle collaborations have recently reported evidence for $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing. This measurement provides the first significant constraint on FCNC in the up-quark sector for non-universal $Z^\prime$ models. Attributing the observed $D-\bar D$ mixing to new physics, we comment on the resulting rare $D$ and $t$ decays. We also show that a CP violating semileptonic asymmetry as large as $\sim 30%$ is allowed by the experimental results.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT) the newly introduced mirror quarks have flavor-changing couplings with the Standard Model (SM) quarks and may enhance the flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) top quark interactions which are extremely suppressed in the SM. In this work we perform a comprehensive study for the contributions of these mirror fermions to various top quark FCNC decays and productions at the LHC, which includes the decays t-> c V (V=g, γ, Z), t -> cgg and the productions proceeding through the parton processes cg -> t, gg -> t c_bar, cg -> tg, cg -> tγand cg -> t Z.…
We compute the partial width of the FCNC top quark decay t->c h in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, where h = h0, H0, A0 is any of the neutral Higgs of the MSSM. We include the SUSY electroweak, Higgs, and SUSY-QCD contributions. Our results substantially improve previous estimations on the subject, and we find that there is a possibility that they can be measured at LHC.
We consider flavor-changing decays of neutral Higgs bosons in the context of CP-conserving BGL model - a variant of 2HDM Type 3 model suggested by Branco, Grimus and Lavoura - in which tree-level FCNC couplings are suppressed by elements of known fermion mixing matrices. The relevant regions of parameter space compatible with experimental restrictions on the SM Higgs properties are studied. We also include current bounds on h-> mu tau into consideration. In addition, different FCNC decay modes are analyzed for heavier Higgs states (H/A) and conservative estimates for Br(A/H->mu tau) are provid…
We study constraints and implications of the recent LHCb measurement of ${\cal B}(B_s \to μ^+μ^-)$ for tree-level Higgs-mediated flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions. Combined with experimental data on $B_s$ mass difference $Δm_s$, the $h \to μτ$, and the $h \to τ^+τ^-$ decay branching ratios from the LHC, we find that the Higgs FCNC couplings are severely constrained. The allowed regions for $B_s \to μτ$, $ττ$ and $h \to sb$ decays are obtained. Current data allow large CP violation in the $h \to τ^+ τ^-$ decay. Consequences of the Cheng-Sher ansatz for the Higgs Yukawa couplin…
Rare $B$-decays induced by flavour-changing neutral currents (FCNC) is one of the promising candidates for probing physics beyond the Standard model. However, for identifying potential new physics from the data, reliable control over QCD contributions is necessary. We focus on one of such QCD contributions - the charming loops - that potentially can lead to difficulties in disentangling new physics effects from the observables and discuss the possibility to gain control over theoretical predictions for charming loops.
Recently it was noticed that among many scenarios of new physics leptoquarks might compensate for the disagreement between the lattice and experimental results for the charmed strange meson decay constant. The leptoquarks might modify also the flavor changing neutral current charm decays. In this study we investigate impact of the scalar leptoquark with electric charge -1/3 on the dilepton invariant mass distribution in the D^+ --> pi^+ mu^+ mu^- decay and on the branching ratios of the D^0 --> mu^+ mu^- using the existing experimental results.
Recently a lot of new experimental results on open charm hadrons have appeared. In particular many D meson resonances have been discovered. We discuss strong decays of positive and negative parity charmed mesons within heavy meson chiral perturbation theory and study the impact of excited charm states on the determination of the effective meson couplings. Motivated by recent experimental results we also reconsider semileptonic D to P l nu and D to V l nu decays within a model which combines heavy quark symmetry and properties of the chiral Lagrangian. Using limits of soft collinear effective t…
We study the three body lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays $μ^- \to e^- e^+ e^-$, $τ^- \to l_i^- l_j^+ l_j^-$ and the semileptonic decay $τ\to μϕ$ in the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) mediated $Z$ boson model. We also calculate the branching ratios for LFV leptonic B decays, $B_{d,s} \to μe$, $B_{d,s} \to τe$, $B_{d,s} \to τμ$ and the conversion of muon to electron in Ti nucleus. The new physics parameter space is constrained by using the experimental limits on $μ^- \to e^- e^+ e^-$ and $τ^- \to μ^- μ^+ μ^-$. We find that the branching ratios for $τ\to eee $ and $τ\to μϕ$ processes …
We revisit the calculation of nonfactorizable corrections induced by charm-quark loops in exclusive FCNC $B$-decays. For the sake of clarity, we make use of a field theory with scalar particles: this allows us to focus on the conceptual issues and to avoid technical complications related to particle spins in QCD. We perform a straightforward calculation of the appropriate correlation function and show that it requires the knowledge of the full generic three-particle distribution amplitude with non-aligned arguments, $\langle 0|\bar s(y)G_{μν}(x)b(0)|B(p)\rangle$. Moreover, the dependence of th…
The observation of three events for the decay $Σ^+ \to p μ^+ μ^-$ with a dimuon invariant mass of $214.3\pm0.5$MeV by the HyperCP collaboration imply that a new particle X may be needed to explain the observed dimuon invariant mass distribution. We show that there are regions in the SUSY-FCNC parameter space where the $A^0_1$ in the NMSSM can be used to explain the HyperCP events without contradicting all the existing constraints from the measurements of the kaon decays, and the constraints from the $K^0-\bar{K}^0$ mixing are automatically satisfied once the constraints from kaon decays are sa…
Realistic predictions are made for lepton flavour violating and flavour changing neutral current decays in the large tan beta regime of a SUSY-seesaw model. Lepton flavour violating neutral Higgs decays are discussed within this framework along with the highly constraining charged lepton decays l_i --> l_j + gamma. In the b-s system the important constraint from b --> s + gamma is studied in conjunction with the rare FCNC Bs --> mu mu (tau mu) decays and the recently measured Delta Ms.
We study the discovery potential of the flavor-changing neutral coupling (FCNC) htc of the Higgs boson and the top quark through the rare tree-body decay h -> Wbc at Muon colliders for a light Higgs boson with mass 114 < m_h < 145 GeV. This decay mode may compete with the SM background induced by the hWW coupling in some models with a tree-level htc coupling and with models that predict this coupling at the one-loop level in the range 10^{-2} - 10^{-1}. A future muon collider could test the scalar FCNC decay t -> hc via Higgs decay h -> t* c -> b W+ c down to values of the coupling g_{tc}=0.5 …
Flavor Changing Neutral Current decays of the top quark within the strict context of the Standard Model are known to be extremely rare. In fact, they are hopelessly undetectable at the Tevatron, LHC and LC in any of their scheduled upgradings. Therefore, if a few of these events eventually show up in the future we will have certainly discovered new physics. We argue that this could well be the case for the LHC and the LC both within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and in a general two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM), especially if we look for FCNC top quark decays into Higgs bosons…
The flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) transitions t --> q'H and t --> q'V_i (V_i=γ, g, Z) are studied in the context of the effective Lagrangian approach. We focus on the scenario in which these decays are predominantly induced by new physics effects arising from the Yukawa sector extended with dimension-six SU_L(2) X U_Y(1)-invariant operators, which generate the most general CP-even and CP-odd tq'H vertex at the tree level. For the unknown coefficients, we assume a slightly modified version of the Cheng-Sher ansatz. We found that the branching ratio for the Higgs-mediated FCNC t--> q'V_…
We study the effects of a vector-like SU(2) quark doublet as a fourth generation. In this model we examine the chiral structure and the FCNC in the quark sector by using radiative B meson decays in the allowed region for parameters from $R_b = {Γ_{qq}}/{Γ_{had.}}$. We compute the ratio $R = {Br (b \to d γ)}/{Br (b \to s γ)}$ in the model which realizes a different chiral structure as well as FCNC. The constraints has been extracted from the experimental results of B meson decays, the $T_{new}$ parameter of oblique corrections and $R_b$. Under the natural assumption that the violation of the $V…
In the so called two Higgs doublet model for the top-quark (T2HDM), first suggested by Das and Kao, the top quark receives a special status, which endows it with a naturally large mass, and also potentially gives rise to large flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) only in the up-quark sector. In this paper we calculate the branching ratio (BR) for the rare decays t->ch and h->tc (h is a neutral Higgs) in the T2HDM, at tree level and at 1-loop when it exceeds the tree-level. We compare our results to predictions from other versions of 2HDM's and find that the scalar FCNC in the T2HDM can play…
D0 and CDF collaborations at the Fermilab Tevatron have searched for non-standard-model single top-quark production and set upper limits on the anomalous top quark flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) couplings $κ^g_{tc}/Λ$ and $κ^g_{tu}/Λ$ using the measurement of total cross section calculated at the next-to-leading order (NLO) in QCD. In this Letter, we report on the effect of anomalous FCNC couplings to various decay branching ratios of the top quark, calculated at the NLO. This result is not only mandatory for a consistent treatment of both the top quark production and decay via FCNC co…
We study the FCNC top quark decays t -> c h in the framework of the MSSM, where h= h^0,H^0,A^0 is any of the supersymmetric neutral Higgs bosons. We include the leading set of SUSY-QCD and SUSY electroweak contributions. While the FCNC top quark decay into the SM Higgs boson has such a negligible rate that will not be accessible to any presently conceivable accelerator, we find that there is a chance that the potential rates in the MSSM can be measured at the high luminosity colliders round the corner, especially at the LHC and possibly at a future LC, but we deem it difficult at the upgraded …
In this paper, we study the FCNC decay processes of $B$ and $B_c$ meson, in which one invisible particle is emitted. Both the spin-0 and spin-1 cases are considered. The model-independent effective Lagrangian is introduced to describe the coupling between the light invisible boson and quarks. The constraints of the coupling coefficients are extracted by experimental upper limits of the missing energy in $B$ meson decays. The bounds are used to predict the upper limits of branching fractions of corresponding $B_c$ decays, which are of the order of $10^{-6}$ or $10^{-5}$ when final meson is pseu…
If new physics (e.g. SUSY) does not show up as direct evidence at the LHC, it could still be observable in FCNC processes involving the $t$-quark. We take a close look at the process $t\to c + h/Z$ and show that its branching ratio in the Standard Model is subject to three mechanisms of suppression. To obtain an observable signal, one needs to evade all these mechanisms in a theory beyond the Standard Model. We show that a theory like the cMSSM cannot provide a big enough enhancement. However, in a framework like $R$-parity-violating SUSY, observable signals are a distinct possibility.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT) new flavor-changing interactions between mirror fermions and the Standard Model (SM) fermions can induce various FCNC decays for B-mesons, Z-boson and Higgs boson. Since all these decays induced in the LHT model are correlated, we in this work perform a collective study for these decays, namely the Z-boson decay Z -> b s_bar, the Higgs boson decay h -> b s_bar, and the B-meson decays B -> X_s γ, B_s -> μ^+μ^- and B -> X_s μ^+ μ^-. We find that under the current experimental constraints from the B-decays, the branching ratios of both Z -> b s_bar …
Flavor changing neutral current and lepton flavor violating processes are studied in the SU(5) SUSY-GUT with right-handed neutrino supermultiplets. Using input parameters motivated by neutrino oscillation, it is shown that the time-dependent CP asymmetry of $b \to s γ$ can be as large as 20%. We also show that the $B_s$-$\bar{B}_s$ mixing can be significantly different from the standard model prediction.
Tree-level Flavor-Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) are characteristic of models with extra vector-like quarks. These new couplings can strongly modify the B^0 CP asymmetries without conflicting with low--energy constraints. In the light of a low CP asymmetry in B --> J/ψK_{S}, we discuss the implications of these contributions. We find that even these low values can be easily accommodated in these models. Furthermore, we show that the new data from B factories tend to favor an O(20) enhancement of the b --> d l \bar{l} transition over the SM expectation.
We analyze the production and subsequent decay of the neutral MSSM Higgs bosons (h = h^0, H^0, A^0) mediated by flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the LHC collider. We have computed the h-production cross-section times the FCNC branching ratio, σ(pp -> h -> qq') = σ(pp -> h) B(h -> qq'), in the LHC focusing on the strongly-interacting FCNC sector. Here qq' is an electrically neutral pair of quarks of different flavors, the dominant modes being those containing a heavy quark: tc or bs. We determine the maximum production rates for each of these modes and identify the relevant regions of…
The $B\to a_1 \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays occur by the electroweak penguin and box diagrams which can be performed through the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC). We calculate the form factors of the FCNC $B \to a_1$ transitions in the light--cone sum rules approach, up to twist--4 distribution amplitudes of the axial vector meson $a_1$. Forward--backward asymmetry, as well as branching ratios of $B\to a_1\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$, and $B\to a_1 γ$ decays are considered. A comparison is also made between our results and the predictions of other methods.
We propose the $B_c\to B_u^*γ$ decay as the most suitable probe for the flavour changing neutral transition $c\to uγ$. We estimate the short and long distance contributions to this decay within the standard model and we find them to be comparable; this is in contrast to radiative decays of $D$ mesons, that are completely dominated by the long distance contributions. Since the $c\to uγ$ transition is very sensitive to the physics beyond the standard model, the standard model prediction $Br(B_c\to B_u^*γ)\sim 10^{-8}$ obtained here opens a new window for future experiments. The detection of $B_c…
Higgs boson decays mediated by flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) are very much suppressed in the Standard Model, at the level of 10^{-15} for Higgs boson masses of a few hundred GeV. Therefore, any experimental vestige of them would immediately call for new physics. In this paper we consider the FCNC decays of Higgs bosons into a top quark in a general two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM). The isolated top quark signature, unbalanced by any other heavy particle, should help to identify the potential FCNC events much more than any other final state. We compute the maximum branching ratios and t…
We study the invisible scalar of $S$ in charmed meson and baryon decays with flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) based on the model-independent effective Lagrangian between the quarks and invisible scalar. From the bounds of the coupling constants extracted from the recent BES III experiment on the decay of $D^{0}\toπ^{0}\barνν$, we predict that the decay branching ratios of $D^{+}\toπ^{+}S$, $D_s^+\to K^+S$, $Λ_c\to pS$, $Ξ_c^{0(+)}\to Σ^{0(+)}S$, and $Ξ_c^0\toΛS$ can be as large as $10.6,~2.53,~2.39,~0.963,~5.77$, and $2.92\times10^{-4}$ with $m_{_S}\approx 1.1~{\rm GeV}$, respectively.…
The decays $D\to Vl^+l^-$ present in principle the opportunity to observe the short distance FCNC transition $c\to ul^+l^-$, which is sensitive to the physics beyond the Standard Model. We analyze the $D \to V l^+ l^- $ decays within the Standard Model, where in addition to the short distance dynamics also the long distance dynamics is present. The short distance contribution due to $c\to ul^+l^-$ transition, which is present only in the Cabibbo suppressed decays, is found to be three orders of magnitude smaller than the long distance contribution. The branching ratios well above $10^{-7}$ for…
The flavor changing neutral top quark decay t -> c X is computed, where X is a neutral standard model particle, in a extended model with a single extra dimension. The cases for the photon, X= γ$, and a Standard Model Higgs boson, X = H, are analyzed in detail in a non-linear$R_ξgauge. We find that the branching ratios can be enhanced by the dynamics originated in the extra dimension. In the limit where 1/R >> ->, we have found Br(t -> c γ) \simeq 10^{-10} for 1/R = 0.5 TeV. For the decay t -> c H, we have found Br(t -> cH) \simeq 10^{-10} for a low Higgs mass value. The branching ratios go to …
Semileptonic B meson decays induced by $b \to s(d) l^+ l^-$ flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) transitions are very important to probe the quark-flavour sector of the standard model (SM) and also offer a probe to test new physics (NP). Although there exists a lot of precise results on $b \to sl^+ l^-$ induced processes, there is lack of sufficient data for $b \to dl^+ l^-$ induced decays. Here, we are interested to study $B \to πl^+ l^-$ and $B \to ρl^+ l^-$ decays which proceed via $b \to dl^+ l^-$ transition at the quark level. In this work, we investigate the differential branching rat…
We analyze the production and subsequent decay of the neutral Higgs bosons of the MSSM into electrically neutral quark pairs qq'=bs,tc of different flavors at the LHC and compare with the direct FCNC production mechanisms. The cross-sections are computed in the unconstrained MSSM with minimal flavor-mixing sources and taking into account the stringent bounds from radiative B-meson decays. We extend the results previously found for these FCNC processes, which are singularly uncommon in the SM. Specifically, we report here on the SUSY-EW contribution of the Higgs-mediated FCNC cross-section into…
Extensions of the standard model (SM) with gauge symmetry SU(3)_c X SU(4)_L X U(1)_X (3-4-1 extensions) where anomaly cancellation takes place between the fermion families (three-family models) predict the existence of two new heavy neutral gauge bosons which transmit flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) at tree-level. In this work, in the context of a three-family 3-4-1 extension which does not contain particles with exotic electric charges, we study the constraints coming from neutral meson mixing on the parameters of the extension associated to tree level FCNC effects. Taking into accoun…
In the context of the 331 models, we consider constraints on the extra neutral boson $Z^{\prime}$ predicted by the model, where three different quark family assignments are identified. Using the ansatz of Matsuda as an specific texture for the quark mass matrices, we obtain allowed regions associated with the Z-Z' mixing angle, the mass of the $Z^{\prime}$ boson and the parameter $β$ which determines different 331 models. The $Z_{1}$ and $Z_{2}$ decays with and without flavor changing are also considered. The flavor changing decays of the $Z_{1}$ boson into quarks at tree level are highly supp…
An interesting extension of the Standard Model is based on the electroweak gauge group SU(3)_L x U(1). It requires three generations to cancel anomalies, treats the third generation differently than the first two, and has a rich phenomenology. There are several models, distinguished by the embedding of the charge operator into the SU(3)_L group and by the choice of fermion representations. In this Brief Report, we consider flavor-changing neutral currents in these models, concentrating on the P-Pbar mass difference, where P=(K, D, B, B_s), as well as B --> K l^+ l^-, B --> mu^+ mu^- and B_s --…
A brief review of the theoretical description of exclusive and inclusive semileptonic charm decays is given. In light of the recent experimental puzzles in leptonic charm decays, the complementary role of semileptonic modes is emphasized. The relevance of semileptonic charm decay studies to the precise determination of the Vub CKM matrix element from semileptonic B decays is also discussed. Some interesting and important theoretical challenges are mentioned.
In the context of SUSY grand unification a link is established between the hadronic and leptonic soft breaking sectors. Such relation is here exploited in particular for FCNC processes in B physics. It is shown how bounds on leptonic FCNC involving the third generation translate into constraints on FC B decays. In the second part of the contribution we show that tests of lepton universality in K and B decays can represent an interesting handle to obtain relevant information on the amount of FCNC in the second and third fermion generation.
QCD corrections are evaluated to FCNC processes like $B \to X_s ν\barν$, $K \to πν\barν$, $B \to l^+ l^-$ or $K_L \to μ^+ μ^-$, i.e. to processes mediated by effective operators containing neutrino currents or axial leptonic currents. Such operators originate from $W$-box and $Z$-penguin diagrams in the Standard Model. QCD corrections to them are given by two-loop diagrams. We confirm results for those diagrams which are already present in the literature. However, our analytical expressions for the Wilson coefficients disagree, due to a subtlety in regulating spurious IR divergences. The numer…
A Peccei-Quinn~(PQ) symmetry is proposed in order to generate in the Standard Model~(SM) quark sector a realistic mass matrix ansatz with five texture-zeros. Limiting our analysis to Hermitian mass matrices, we show that this requires a minimum of 4 Higgs doublets. This model allows assigning values close to 1 for several Yukawa couplings, giving insight into the origin of the mass scales in the SM. Since the PQ charges are non-universal, the model features Flavor-Changing Neutral Currents~(FCNC) at the tree level. From the analytical expressions for the FCNC we report the allowed region in th…
We revisit rare radiative leptonic decays $B_{s,d}\to γe^+e^-$ and $B_{s,d}\to γμ^+μ^-$ in the Standard Model and provide the updated estimates for various differential distributions (the branching ratios, the forward-backward asymmetry, and $R_{μ/e}$, the ratio of the differential distribution for muons over electrons in the final state). The new ingredients of this work compared to the existing theoretical analyses are the following: (i) we calculate all $B_d\toγ$ and $B_s\toγ$ form factors induced by the vector, axial-vector, tensor and pseudotensor quark currents within the relativistic di…
In the presented paper we have estimated additional to the standard model (SM) contributions to the top quark FCNC decays in the framework of the model with one extra dimension. The estimates of performed calculations show that extra dimension models with only one additional spatial dimension cannot raise branching ratio for top FCNC decay.
Among other roles the LHC will play a role of the top "factory" and it will give us unique possibility to study new physics signatures in different ways. Many scenarios of new physics allow top quark FCNC decays. Using most general model independent Lagrangian of new physics we investigate possible experimental signals of new physics in t --> c(u) l+ l- FCNC top decays. We find that measurement of two possible asymmetries might give very important and interesting information of NP. It is particularly interesting to use them to discriminate among variety on NP scenarios. We consider also contri…
This note emphasizes that due to isospin violation the two central states in the octet mix, and this mixing can be measured in semileptonic decays, in particular with an accurate determination of the sigma plus semileptonic branching ratio.
Rare flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) decays of top, beauty and charm quarks can provide a powerful probe for as yet unobserved particles. Recent results on FCNC $b \to s$, $c \to u$ and $t$ transitions from the LHC experiments are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to the angular distribution of the $B^{0} \to K^{*0} μ^{+} μ^{-}$ decay, where a measurement performed by LHCb shows a local discrepancy of 3.7 standard deviations with respect to the SM prediction. Using the decay $B^{+} \to K^{+}π^{-}π^{+}γ$, LHCb have also been able to demonstrate the polarisation of photons produced …
We make predictions for the exclusive semileptonic and the non-leptonic decay widths of the B_c meson. We evaluate the B_c semileptonic form factors for different decay channels in a relativistic model, and use factorization to obtain the non-leptonic decay widths.
