In this article, we present analytical expansion results of two single mass scale four-loop vacuum integrals in d=3-2*ep dimensions. After finding hypergeometric representations with half-integer coefficients, we use algorithms which we implemented in FORM to expand these in terms of nested sums.

The field theory limit of multiloop string amplitudes

We report on recent progress in the use of string techniques for the computation of field theory amplitudes. We show how one-loop renormalization constants in Yang-Mills theory can be computed using the open spinning string, we review the calculation of two-loop scalar amplitudes with the bosonic string, and we briefly indicate how the technique can be applied to the two-loop vacuum bubbles of Yang-Mills theory.

Resonant decay of parity odd bubbles in hot hadronic matter

We investigate the decay of metastable states with broken CP-symmetry which have recently been proposed by Kharzeev, Pisarski and Tytgat to form in hot hadronic matter. We consider the efficiency of the amplification of the $η'$-field via parametric resonance, taking the backreaction into account. For times of the order $t\approx 10 fm$, we find a particle density of about $0.7/fm^3$ and a correlation length of $ξ_{max}\approx 2.5 fm$. The corresponding momentum spectra show a non-thermal behaviour.

Parity odd bubbles in hot QCD

We consider the topological susceptibility for an SU(N) gauge theory in the limit of a large number of colors, $N \to \infty$. At nonzero temperature, the behavior of the topological susceptibility depends upon the order of the deconfining phase transition. The most interesting possibility is if the deconfining transition, at $T=T_d$, is of second order. Then we argue that Witten's relation implies that the topological susceptibility vanishes in a calculable fashion at $T_d$. Flavor oscillations in the supernova hot bubble region: Nonlinear effects of neutrino background

The neutrino flux close to a supernova core contributes substantially to neutrino refraction so that flavor oscillations become a nonlinear phenomenon. One unexpected consequence is efficient flavor transformation for anti-neutrinos in a region where only neutrinos encounter an MSW resonance or vice versa. Contrary to previous studies we find that in the neutrino-driven wind the electron fraction Y_e always stays below 0.5, corresponding to a neutron-rich environment as required by r-process nucleosynthesis. Domain Wall Bubbles in High Energy Heavy Ion Collisions

It has been recently shown that meta-stable domain walls exist in high-density QCD ($μ\neq 0$) as well as in QCD with large number of colors ($N_c\to\infty$), with the lifetime being exponentially long in both cases. Such metastable domain walls may exist in our world as well, especially in hot hadronic matter with temperature close to critical. Hearing without seeing: gravitational waves from hot and cold hidden sectors

We study the spectrum of gravitational waves produced by a first order phase transition in a hidden sector that is colder than the visible sector. In this scenario, bubbles of the hidden sector vacuum can be nucleated through either thermal fluctuations or quantum tunnelling. In-medium vector meson properties and low-mass dilepton production from hot hadronic matter

The in-medium properties of the vector mesons are known to be modified significantly in hot and dense hadronic matter due to vacuum polarisation effects from the baryon sector in the Walecka model.
