We investigate the magnetic field distribution inside a Type II superconductor which has point group symmetry $O$ such as Li$_2$Pt$_3$B. The absence of inversion symmetry as a departure from perfect cubic group $O_h$ causes a magnetization collinear with the phase gradient associated with the order parameter, and a component of current collinear with the local magnetic field. In the vortex state, we predict, by solving the Maxwell equation, a local magnetic field transverse to the vortex lines. The probability distribution of this transverse field is also obtained for the prospective muon-spin-rotation measurements.
We discuss the unconventional magnetic response and vortex states arising in noncentrosymmetric superconductors with chiral octahedral and tetrahedral ($O$ or $T$) symmetry. We microscopically derive Ginzburg-Landau free energy. It is shown that due to spin-orbit and Zeeman coupling magnetic response of the system can change very significantly with temperature. For sufficiently strong coupling this leads to a crossover from type-1 superconductivity at elevated temperature to vortex states at lower temperature. The external magnetic field decay in such superconductors does not have the simple e…
We numerically investigate the electronic structures around a vortex core in a bilayer superconducting system, with s-wave pairing, Rashba spin-orbit coupling and Zeeman magnetic field, with use of the quasiclassical Green's function method. The Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) phase and the so-called pair-density wave (PDW) phase appear in the temperature-magnetic-field phase diagram in a bulk uniform system [Phys. Rev. B 86, 134514 (2012)]. In the low magnetic field perpendicular to the layers, the zero-energy vortex bound states in the BCS phase are split by the Zeeman magnetic field. On the…
Superconducting materials with noncentrosymmetric lattices lacking space inversion symmetry exhibit a variety of interesting parity-breaking phenomena, including the magneto-electric effect, spin-polarized currents, helical states, and the unusual Josephson effect. We demonstrate, within a Ginzburg-Landau framework describing noncentrosymmetric superconductors with $O$ point group symmetry, that vortices can exhibit an inversion of the magnetic field at a certain distance from the vortex core. In stark contrast to conventional superconducting vortices, the magnetic-field reversal in the parity…
One of the key effects which is predicted to arise in superconductors without a centre of inversion is the mixing of singlet and triplet order parameters, which are no longer good quantum numbers on their own due to parity. We have probed the gap structure in the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Ru$_7$B$_3$, through small-angle neutron diffraction from the vortex lattice, in order to search for the proposed mixed order parameter. We find that the measured temperature dependence of the vortex-lattice form factor is well characterised by a model constructed to describe the effects of broken inv…
We report a comprehensive study of the centrosymmetric Re$_3$B and noncentrosymmetric Re$_7$B$_3$ superconductors. At a macroscopic level, their bulk superconductivity (SC), with $T_c$ = 5.1 K (Re$_3$B) and 3.3 K (Re$_7$B$_3$), was characterized via electrical-resistivity, magnetization, and heat-capacity measurements, while their microscopic superconducting properties were investigated by means of muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR). In both Re$_3$B and Re$_7$B$_3$ the low-$T$ zero-field electronic specific heat and the superfluid density (determined via tranverse-field $μ$SR) suggest a nod…
We present muon spin rotation ($μ$SR) measurements on the noncentrosymmetric superconductor PbTaSe$_2$. From measurements in an applied transverse field between $H_{c1}$ and $H_{c2}$, we extract the superfluid density as a function of temperature in the vortex state. This data can be fit with a fully gapped two-band model, consistent with previous evidence from ARPES, thermal conductivity, and resistivity. Furthermore, zero field measurements show no evidence for a time reversal symmetry breaking field greater than 0.05~G in the superconducting state. This makes exotic fully gapped spin-triple…
Nonreciprocal or nonlinear responses in symmetry-broken systems are powerful probes of emergent properties in quantum materials, including superconductors, magnets, and topological materials. Recently, vortex matter has been recognized as a key ingredient of giant nonlinear responses in superconductors with broken inversion symmetry. However, nonlinear effects have been probed as excess voltage only under broken time-reversal symmetry. In this study, we report intrinsic rectification and nonlinear anomalous Hall effect under time-reversal symmetry in the noncentrosymmetric trigonal superconduc…
Nonreciprocal charge transport phenomena are studied theoretically for two-dimensional noncentrosymmetric superconductors under an external magnetic field $B$. Rashba superconductors, surface superconductivity on the surface of three-dimensional topological insulators, and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) are representative systems, and the current-voltage $I$-$V$ characteristics, i.e., $V=V(I)$, for each of them is analyzed. $V(I)$ can be expanded with respect to the current $I$ as $V(I)= \sum_{j=1,\infty} a_j(B,T) I^j$, and the $(B,T)$-dependence of $a_j$ depends on the mechanism of th…
Dynamical behavior of vortices plays central roles in the quantum phenomena of two-dimensional (2D) superconductors. Quantum metallic state, for example, showing an anomalous temperature-independent resistive state down to low-temperatures, has been a common subject in recently developed 2D crystalline superconductors, whose microscopic origin is still under debate. Here, we unveil a new aspect of the vortex dynamics in a noncentrosymmetric 2D crystalline superconductor of MoS$_{2}$ through the nonreciprocal transport measurement. The second harmonic resistance $R^{2w}$ at low temperature with…
We observe a hysteretic reorientation of the magnetic vortex lattice in the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Ru7B3, with the change in orientation driven by altering magnetic field below Tc. Normally a vortex lattice chooses either a single or degenerate set of orientations with respect to a crystal lattice at any given field or temperature, a behavior well described by prevailing phenomenological and microscopic theories. Here, in the absence of any typical VL structural transition, we observe a continuous rotation of the vortex lattice which exhibits a pronounced hysteresis and is driven by…
We systematically investigate the normal and superconducting properties of non-centrosymmetric Re$_{6}$Zr using magnetization, heat capacity, and electrical resistivity measurements. Resistivity measurements indicate Re$_{6}$Zr has poor metallic behavior and is dominated by disorder. Re$_6$Zr undergoes a superconducting transition at $T_{\mathrm{c}} = \left(6.75\pm0.05\right)$ K. Magnetization measurements give a lower critical field, $μ_{0}H_{\mathrm{c1}} = \left(10.3 \pm 0.1\right)$ mT. The Werthamer-Helfand-Hohenberg model is used to approximate the upper critical field $μ_{0}H_{\mathrm{c2}…
Nonreciprocal charge transport phenomena are widely studied in two-dimensional superconductors, which demonstrate unidirectional-anisotropy magnetoresistances as a result of symmetry breaking. Here, we report a strong nonreciprocal transport phenomenon in superconducting CsV$_{3}$Sb$_{5}$ thin flakes. The second harmonic voltages, mainly originating from the rectification effect of vortex motion, are unambiguously developed with in-plane and out-of-plane magnetic fields, and their magnitudes are comparable to those in noncentrosymmetric superconductors. The second harmonic magnetoresistances s…
We study the phase transition between a trivial and a time-reversal-invariant topological superconductor in a single-band system. By analyzing the interplay of symmetry, topology and energetics, we show that for a generic normal state band structure, the phase transition occurs via extended intermediate phases in which even- and odd-parity pairing components coexist. For inversion-symmetric systems, the coexistence phase spontaneously breaks time-reversal symmetry. For noncentrosymmetric superconductors, the low-temperature intermediate phase is time-reversal breaking, while the high-temperatu…
Noncentrosymmetric superconductors (NCSs) with broken inversion symmetry can have spin-dependent order parameters (OPs) with mixed parity which can also have nodes in the pair potential as well as the energy spectra. These nodes are distinct features that are not present in conventional superconductors. They appear as points or lines in the momentum space where the latter can have angular or radial geometries dictated by the dimensionality, the lattice structure and the pairing interaction. In this work we study the nodes in time reversal symmetry (TRS) preserving NCSs at the OP, the pair pote…
