The observation and measurement of missing transverse energy in an event is a key signature in SUSY searches. This paper describes the reconstruction and calibration of missing transverse energy in ATLAS, and addresses the quality of the measurement in a variety of simulated processes which contain physical missing transverse energy such as $Z$ $\to$ $τ^{+}τ^{-}$, $A^{0}$ / $H^{0}$ $\to$ $τ^{+}τ^{-}$, $t$$\bar{t}$, and SUSY as well as processes which contain no missing transverse energy such as minimum bias and $Z$+jets. Expectations for the use of early data in evaluation of the measurement of missing transverse energy are presented.
Supersymmetry is one of the most motivated scenarios for physics beyond the Standard Model. This article summarizes recent ATLAS results on searches for supersymmetry in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at LHC, which target supersymmetric particles produced by strong interaction in events with leptonic final states. No significant excess above the Standard Model expectation is observed and exclusion limits have been set on squark and gluino masses in various scenarios.
Highlights of the search for SUSY at ATLAS are presented emphasising on the variety of searches that were performed in the LHC Run I in p-p collisions at a centre of mass of 7 TeV and 8TeV. Searches for squars, gluinos, third generation squarks and electroweakinos in R-parity conserving scenarios and an example of searches in R-parity violating scenarios are highlighted.
This work presents a new inclusive search for supersymmetry (SUSY) by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 7 TeV in final states with jets, missing transverse momentum and one or more isolated electrons and/or muons. The search is based on data from the full 2011 data-taking period, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 inverse fb. Single- and multi-lepton channels are treated together in one analysis. An increase in sensitivity is obtained by simultaneously fitting the number of events in statistically independent signal r…
Search for Supersymmetry in Events with Large Missing Transverse Momentum, Jets, and at Least One Tau Lepton in 7 TeV Proton-Proton Collision Data with the ATLAS Detector
We provide an interpretation of the recent ATLAS diboson excess in terms of a class of supersymmetric models in which the scale of supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking is in the few TeV range. The particle responsible for the excess is the scalar superpartner of the Goldstone fermion associated with SUSY breaking, the sgoldstino. This scalar couples strongly to the Standard Model vector bosons and weakly to the fermions, with all coupling strengths determined by ratios of soft SUSY breaking parameters over the SUSY breaking scale. Explaining the ATLAS excess selects particular relations and ranges fo…
Between the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the LHC, hundreds of individual event selections have been measured in the data to look for evidence of supersymmetry at a center of mass energy of 8 TeV. While there is currently no significant evidence for any particular model of supersymmetry, the large number of searches should have produced some large statistical fluctuations. By analyzing the distribution of p-values from the various searches, we determine that the number of excesses is consistent with the Standard Model only hypothesis. However, we do find a shortage of signal regions with far…
Weak scale supersymmetry is one of the best motivated and studied Standard Model extensions. It predicts the existence of new heavy coloured particles called squarks and gluinos which are the supersymmetric partners of the quarks and gluons, respectively. The poster summarises results on inclusive searches for supersymmetric squarks and gluinos in events containing jets and missing transverse momentum without leptons. The searches use the full data sample recorded in 2012 at $\sqrt{s}$=8~TeV centre-of-mass energy by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC.
A search for supersymmetry (SUSY) in events with large missing transverse momentum, jets, at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton and zero or one additional light leptons (electron/muon), has been performed using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed in the various signal regions and 95% confidence level upper limits on the visible cross section for new phenomena are set. The results of the analysis are interpreted in several …
The four-lepton final state, rare in standard model processes, is an attractive channel for new physics searches at the LHC. In supersymmetry (SUSY), charged leptons may arise from R-Parity conserving (RPC) cascade decays of SUSY particles to the lightest supersymmetric particle, or from R-Parity violating (RPV) decays to standard model particles. This paper presents a search for supersymmetry in events with at least four charged leptons carried out using 20.3 $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data taken with the ATLAS detector at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV during the 2012 LHC run. Up to two…

Search for dark matter candidates and large extra dimensions in events with a photon and missing transverse momentum in pp collision data at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Search for new phenomena in final states with large jet multiplicities and missing transverse momentum using sqrt(s)=7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
Search for events with large missing transverse momentum, jets, and at least two tau leptons in 7 TeV proton-proton collision data with the ATLAS detector
The results of a search for new physics in final states with jets, either photons or leptons, and low missing transverse momentum are reported. The study is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions collected at center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 8 TeV with the CMS detector in 2012. The integrated luminosity of the sample is 19.7 inverse femtobarns. Many models of new physics predict the production of events with jets, electroweak gauge bosons, and little or no missing transverse momentum. Examples include stealth models of supersymmetry (SUSY), which predict a hidden sector at the electrowea…
Search for Susy with Missing Transverse Energy and Jets at CDF
Search for supersymmetric particles in events with lepton pairs and large missing transverse momentum in sqrt{s} = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions with the ATLAS experiment
Results of a search for new phenomena in events with large missing transverse momentum and a Higgs boson decaying to two photons are reported. Data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ have been collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The observed data are well described by the expected Standard Model backgrounds. Upper limits on the cross section of events with large missing transverse momentum and a Higgs boson candidate are also placed. Exclusion limits are presented for models of physics beyo…
