Superfluidity in Super-Yang-Mills Theory

The AdS/CFT correspondence suggests that there is a point in the phase diagram of strongly interacting gauge-theory matter where the viscosity approaches zero. This paper analyses the possibility that this point represents a superfluid and that the the system near this point in the phase diagram can be described by a Landau fluid. Superfluid vortices are constructed and the AdS analogue of vorticity quantisation is described. The production of vortices in the quark-gluon plasma during heavy ion collisions is discussed.

Dark Matter Superfluidity

In these lectures I describe a theory of dark matter superfluidity developed in the last few years. The dark matter particles are axion-like, with masses of order eV. They Bose-Einstein condense into a superfluid phase in the central regions of galaxy halos. The superfluid phonon excitations in turn couple to baryons and mediate a long-range force (beyond Newtonian gravity). Dark Matter Superfluidity and Galactic Dynamics

We propose a unified framework that reconciles the stunning success of MOND on galactic scales with the triumph of the LambdaCDM model on cosmological scales. This is achieved through the physics of superfluidity. Dark matter consists of self-interacting axion-like particles that thermalize and condense to form a superfluid in galaxies, with ~mK critical temperature. The superfluid phonons mediate a MOND acceleration on baryonic matter. Emergent higher-form symmetry in Higgs phases with superfluidity

We address emergent higher-form symmetry in Higgs phases with superfluidity. The emergent symmetry appears if a matter field is invariant under a transformation of a common subgroup of gauge and global $\mathrm{U}(1)$ symmetries. We explicitly construct the symmetry generator that is topological and gauge invariant in a low-energy effective theory. Such emergent symmetry is helpful to distinguish the Higgs and other phases with superfluidity, such as phases of QCD at finite density. We also discuss the possibility of phase transition between these phases.

Novel dynamic critical phenomena induced by superfluidity and the chiral magnetic effect in Quantum Chromodynamics

In this thesis, we study the novel dynamic critical phenomena induced by superfluidity and the chiral magnetic effect in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), respectively. In particular, we find the new dynamic universality class of the high-density QCD critical point between the nuclear and quark superfluid phases beyond the conventional Hohnenberg and Halperin's classification.
