It has long been known that the broken supersymmetric (susy) phase of the singlet extended susy higgs model (SESHM) is at best metastable and the ground states of the model have vanishing vacuum energy and are exactly supersymmetric. If the SESHM is confirmed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the numerical values of the parameters of the model have a bearing on key properties of the susy phase and might provide an estimate of the remaining time before a possible decay of our false vacuum. We provide some analysis of the model including a treatment of phases in the potential and soft higgs masses.
Pseudoscalar and charged Higgs bosons production in the processes $μ^+ μ^-\to P^0_i Z^0$, $μ^+μ^- \to H^{\pm}W^{\mp}$ within the models with several Higgs doublets and singlets is considered.
In this paper, we propose a scheme for neutrino mass generation. A Higgs singlet is introduced in the Standard Model of particle physics (SM). All of this new singlet and the charged and neutral Higgs fields in the original Higgs doublet are assumed to have nonzero vacuum expectation values (VEVs). The normal hierarchy of neutrino masses is evidently preferred in our scheme. The neutrino masses are explicitly calculated.
We show that the gauge singlet scalar boson in low-energy supersymmetric model may behave as the standard model (SM) Higgs boson if the singlet couples to (heavy) vector-like colored particles. In this case, the SM-Higgs-like signal at the LHC can be mimicked by the singlet production process for wide range of the singlet mass.
We show that supersymmetric Abelian models that are obtained from deformations of those with ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetry also contain metastable vacua for a wide range of parameters. The deformations we consider are combinations of masses for charged and singlet fields, a singlet F--term and an anomalous D--term. We find that, in all cases, the nonsupersymmetric vacua are parametrically far from the supersymmetric ones and therefore metastable. Using retrofitting, we show that these metastable vacua may lead to semi--realistic phenomenology.
We match the electroweak chiral Lagrangian with two singlet scalars to the next-to-minimal composite Higgs model with $ SO(6)/SO(5) $ coset structure and extract the scalar divergences to one loop. Assuming the additional scalar to be heavy, we integrate it out and perform a matching to the well-established electroweak chiral Lagrangian with one light Higgs.
Extensions of the MSSM generically feature gauge singlet Higgs bosons. These singlet Higgs bosons have tan(beta)-enhanced Yukawa couplings to down-type quarks and leptons at the one-loop level. We present an effective Lagrangian incorporating these Yukawa couplings and use it to study their effect on singlet Higgs boson phenomenology within both the mnSSM and NMSSM. It is found that the loop-induced couplings represent an appreciable effect for the singlet pseudoscalar in particular, and may dominate its decay modes in some regions of parameter space.
We investigate a model of $SU(2) \otimes U(1)$ singlet scalars coupled to Standard Model. We point out that for the case of maximal mixing between singlet scalars and standard Higgs boson the Higgs boson production cross section is smaller than the standard Higgs boson production by factor $\frac{1}{N+1}$, where N is the number of singlet scalar scalars. For the case of big mixing Higgs boson could be nonobservable at LHC. However, there is also a possibility for the observation of scalar singlets at LHC. As a quasirealistic example we discuss a supersymmetric $SU(2) \otimes U(1)$ electroweak …
In the Intriligator-Seiberg-Shih model, we parametrize spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_R$ symmetry with two gauge singlets with R-charges 1 and --1. These singlets can play the role of the messengers. The messenger scale is dynamically generated, and hence there is no hierarchy problem between the supersymmetry breaking scale and the messenger scale. In the gauge mediation scenario, supersymmetry breaking scale turns out to be around $\mathcal{O}(10^6)\textrm{GeV}$.
We show that the upper bound on the lightest Higgs mass in the MSSM is relaxed by introducing a singlet which couples to the Higgs fields, even at a large tan beta region, preferable for explaining the muon anomalous magnetic moment. In the models of a singlet extension, it is known that the upper bound is relaxed by a tree-level contribution, especially at small tan beta region. For large tan beta, however, the requirement for the perturbativity on the singlet-Higgs coupling up to the GUT scale prevents the lightest Higgs from obtaining a large tree-level mass. We construct an explicit UV com…
We describe the phenomenology of light singlet Higgs bosons in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetry Model (NMSSM) which are mostly decoupled from the rest of Supersymmetry. Noting that the Large Hadron Collider has not excluded this scenario, we describe previous searches for light Higgs bosons at the Large Electron Positron collider and evaluate the sensitivity to neutralino production and decay to light singlet Higgs bosons at the proposed $\sqrt{s}=250$~GeV Circular Electron Positron Collider.
The possibility of CP violation is studied in the Higgs sector of a supersymmetric standard model with multiple Higgs singlets. The tree-level Lagrangian in this model is assumed to conserve the CP symmetry. We find that CP violation is viable in this model at the one-loop level, in an explicit way, if the radiative corrections from the third generation of quarks and squarks are taken into account. In the presence of explicit CP violation, at the one-loop level, the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson and the productions of the neutral Higgs bosons via the Higgsstrahlun…
We explore the collider signatures of the Higgs sectors in singlet-extended MSSM models. We find that even with reduced couplings due to singlet mixing, a significant portion of the parameter spaces have a discoverable Higgs via traditional decay modes or via invisible decays (directly to neutralinos or through cascade decays to neutralinos and neutrinos). For illustrative points in parameter space we give the likelihood of Higgs discovery. In cases where neither traditional nor invisible modes can discover the Higgs, the neutralino sector may provide evidence for the extended models.
Inspired by the dark matter searches in the low mass region, we study the Type II two Higgs doublet model with a light gauge singlet WIMP stabilized by a Z_2 symmetry. The real singlet is required to only couple to the non-Standard Model Higgs. We investigate singlet candidates with different spins as well as isospin violating effect. The parameter space favored by LHC data in two Higgs doublet model and hadronic uncertainties in WIMP-nucleon elastic scattering are also taken into account. We find only the scalar singlet in the isospin conserving case leads to a major overlap with the region o…
Any extension of the standard model that aims to describe TeV-scale physics without fine-tuning must have a radiatively-stable Higgs potential. In little Higgs theories, radiative stability is achieved through so-called collective symmetry breaking. In this letter, we focus on the necessary conditions for a little Higgs to have a collective Higgs quartic coupling. In one-Higgs doublet models, a collective quartic requires an electroweak triplet scalar. In two-Higgs doublet models, a collective quartic requires a triplet or singlet scalar. As a corollary of this study, we show that some little …
Recent lattice results suggest the existence of a gap-less mode of the singlet Higgs field. We present a description of spontaneous symmetry breaking in $λΦ^4$ theories showing why one is faced with long-wavelength, collective modes of the scalar condensate with $\tilde{E}({\bf{p}}) \to 0$ energy in the ${\bf{p}} \to 0$ limit.
NMSSM with a light singlet-like scalar and strongly suppressed couplings to $b$ and $τ$ is investigated. It is shown that in such a scenario the singlet-like scalar to diphoton signal can be larger than for the SM Higgs for a wide range of masses between 60 and 110 GeV, in agreement with all the LEP and LHC data. Enhancement of the singlet-like scalar to diphoton signal is correlated with positive correction to the SM-like Higgs mass from mixing between SM-like Higgs and the singlet. It is also shown that the couplings to $b$ and $τ$ and, in consequence, branching ratios of the SM-like Higgs a…
We examine the implications of singlet-doublet Higgs mixing on the properties of a Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson within the Peccei-Quinn invariant extension of the NMSSM (PQ-NMSSM). The SM singlet added to the Higgs sector connects the PQ and visible sectors through a PQ-invariant non-renormalizable Kähler potential term, making the model free from the tadpole and domain-wall problems. For the case that the lightest Higgs boson is dominated by the singlet scalar, the Higgs mixing increases the mass of a SM-like Higgs boson while reducing its signal rate at collider experiments compared …
We consider the Standard Model extended by the addition of a complex scalar singlet, with no assumptions about additional symmetries of the potential. This model provides for resonant di-Higgs production of Higgs particles with different masses. We demonstrate that regions of parameter space allowed by precision electroweak measurements, experimental limits on single Higgs production, and perturbative unitarity allow for large di-Higgs production rates relative to the SM rates. In this scenario, the dominant production mechanism of the new scalar states is di-Higgs production. Results are pres…
The measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson still leave room for a non minimal scalar sector. Extensions of the Standard Model typically involve multiple neutral Higgs fields which can interfere among themselves. We show that these interference effects can be substantial taking as example the one Higgs Singlet Model, the simplest renormalizable addition to the SM.
Singlet Higgs bosons present in extensions of the MSSM can have sizable Yukawa couplings to the b quark and the tau lepton for large values of tan(beta) at the 1-loop level. We present an effective Lagrangian which incorporates these tan(beta)-enhanced Yukawa couplings and which enables us to study their effect on singlet Higgs-boson phenomenology within the context of both the mnSSM and the NMSSM. In particular, we find that the loop-induced coupling can be a significant effect for the singlet pseudoscalar, and may dominate its decay modes. Further implications of the tan(beta)-enhanced Yukaw…
We discuss the current status of theoretical and experimental constraints on the real Higgs singlet extension of the Standard Model. For the second neutral (non-standard) Higgs boson the full mass range from 1 GeV to 1 TeV accessible at past and current collider experiments is considered. We present benchmark scenarios for searches for an additional Higgs state in the real Higgs singlet extension of the Standard Model in Run 2 of the LHC. We furthermore discuss electroweak corrections to the H to hh partial decay width within this model.
We discuss the Higgs sector of the supersymmetric standard model extended by a gauge singlet for the range of parameters, which is compatible with universal soft supersymmetry breaking terms at the GUT scale. We present results for the masses, couplings and decay properties of the lightest Higgs bosons, in particular with regard to Higgs boson searches at LEP. The prospects differ significantly from the ones within the MSSM.
We study the enhancement of the di-Higgs production cross section resulting from the resonant decay of a heavy Higgs boson at hadron colliders in a model with a Higgs singlet. This enhancement of the double Higgs production rate is crucial in understanding the structure of the scalar potential and we determine the maximum allowed enhancement such that the electroweak minimum is a global minimum. The di-Higgs production enhancement can be as large as a factor of ~ 18 (13) for the mass of the heavy Higgs around 270 (420) GeV relative to the Standard Model rate at 14 TeV for parameters correspond…
We discuss the current status of theoretical and experimental constraints on the real Higgs singlet extension of the Standard Model. For the second neutral (non-standard) Higgs boson the mass range up to 1 TeV accessible at past and current collider experiments is considered. We furthermore discuss electroweak corrections to the H to hh partial decay width within this model.
A minimal candidate for dark matter is provided by a stable standard model singlet hermitian scalar field. The quantum mechanical effects of this singlet are explored in a model where the standard model Higgs boson has a large non-minimal coupling to the Ricci scalar and plays the role of the inflaton. Imposition of the slow roll inflation cosmological constraints restricts the allowed values of the Higgs boson mass, its coupling to the dark matter and the dark matter self-coupling.
We explore the effects of Higgs mixing in the general next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM). Extended to include a gauge singlet, the Higgs sector can naturally explain the observed Higgs boson mass in TeV scale supersymmetry without invoking large stop mixing. This is particularly the case when the singlet scalar is light so that singlet-doublet mixing increases the mass of the SM-like Higgs boson. In such a case the Higgs mixing has interesting implications following from the fact that the higgsino mass parameter and the singlet coupling to Higgs bilinear crucially depend on …
Sterile neutrinos have been invoked to explain the observed neutrino masses, but they can also have significant implications for cosmology and accelerator experiments. We explore the collider signatures of a simple extension of the Standard Model, where sterile neutrinos acquire their mass after electroweak symmetry breaking, via their coupling to a real singlet Higgs. In this model, heavy sterile neutrinos can be produced in accelerators from decays of the Higgs bosons. Their own decay can yield distinct signals, suggesting both the presence of an extended Higgs sector and the coupling of the…
Within the Standard Model, the current Higgs and top quark data favor metastability of the electroweak vacuum, although the uncertainties are still significant. The true vacuum is many orders of magnitude deeper than ours and the barrier separating the two is tiny compared to the depth of the well. This raises a cosmological question: how did the Higgs field get trapped in the shallow minimum and why did it stay there during inflation? The Higgs initial conditions before inflation must be fine--tuned to about one part in 10^8 in order for the Higgs field to end up in the right vacuum. In this …
We propose a renormalizable model of a fermionic dark matter by introducing a gauge singlet Dirac fermion and a real singlet scalar. The bridges between the singlet sector and the standard model sector are only the singlet scalar interaction terms with the standard model Higgs field. The singlet fermion couples to the standard model particles through the mixing between the standard model Higgs and singlet scalar and is naturally a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP). The measured relic abundance can be explained by the singlet fermionic dark matter as the WIMP within this model. Collide…
A supersymmetric standard model with two Higgs doublets and two Higgs singlets is investigated if it can accommodate the possibility of spontaneous CP violation. Assuming the degeneracy of the scalar quark masses of the third generation, we find that spontaneous CP violation in the Higgs sector is viable in our model. In the case of spontaneous CP violation, the masses of the lightest two neutral Higgs bosons are estimated to be 80 and 125 GeV for some parameter values in our model, which, are consistent with LEP2 data.
The charged Higgs decay in the channel H^- ->tau_L^- nu in models with a singlet neutrino can provide a test of large extra dimensions models with TeV scale quantum gravity since in the standard two Higgs doublet model type II, H^- -> tau_L^- nu is suppressed. In the present study, we focus on the decay H^- -> tau_L^- nu at the LHC for Higgs masses larger than the top-quark mass.
The loop corrections to the couplings of Higgs bosons to quarks and charged leptons are calculated within supersymmetric versions of the Standard Model, extended by a gauge singlet. The effective couplings of the $SU(2)_L$ doublet and singlet Higgs bosons to quarks and leptons, induced by sfermion loops, are derived. Analytic expressions for the case of generic sfermion flavour mixing, including the complete resummation of all chirally-enhanced contributions are presented. These results are important in scenarios in which the mixing between singlet and doublet components of Higgs bosons is sma…
The newly discovered resonance at 125 GeV has properties consistent with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs particle, although some production and/or decay channels currently exhibit O(1) deviations. We consider scenarios with a new scalar singlet field with couplings to electrically charged vector-like matter, focusing particularly on the case when the singlet mass lies within a narrow ~ few GeV window around the Higgs mass. Such a `singlet neighbor' presents novel mechanisms for modifying the observed properties of the Higgs boson. For instance, even a small amount of the Higgs-singlet mixing can…
We investigate the fine-tuning problem in the Standard Model and show that Higgs boson and top quark masses consistent with current experimental bounds cannot be obtained unless one extends the particle spectrum. A minimal extension which achieves this involves addition of a singlet real scalar and one generation of vectorlike fermions. We show that this leads to a phenomenologically viable prediction for the mass of the Standard Model Higgs boson.
As discussed recently by Hooper and Tait, the singlino-like dark matter in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) extended by a singlet Higgs superfield can give a perfect explanation for both the relic density and the Pamela result through the Sommerfeld-enhanced annihilation into singlet Higgs bosons ($a$ or $h$ followed by $h->a a$) with $a$ being light enough to decay dominantly to muons or electrons. In this work we analyze the parameter space required by such a dark matter explanation and also consider the constraints from the LEP experiments. We find that although the light si…
We consider an extension of the Standard Model involving a singlet Higgs and down type vector-like quarks in the light of the current LHC Higgs data. For a good range of the parameters of the Higgs potential, and a mass range for the heavy vector-like quark, we find that the singlet heavy Higgs arising from the production and decay of the vector-like quarks give rise to (2b~4t) signal. The subsequent decay of the top quarks to $b W^{+}$ give rise to a final state with six b quarks, two same-sign charged leptons and missing transverse momenta with observable cross-sections at the 14 TeV run of …
We study the phenomenology of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs sector extended by two singlet scalars. The model predicts two CP-even scalars $h_{1,2}$ which are a mixture of doublet and singlet components as well as a pure singlet scalar $S_{0}$ which is a dark matter candidate. We show that the model can satisfy the relic density and direct detection constraints as well as all the recent ATLAS and CMS measurements. We also discuss the effect of the extra Higgs bosons on the different Higgs triple couplings $h_{i}h_{j}h_{k}$, $i,j,k=1,2$. A particular attention is given to the triple self-coupli…
Higgs pair production at the LHC from gluon fusion is small in the Standard Model, but can be enhanced in models where a resonant enhancement is allowed. We examine the effect of a resonant contribution from a second scalar arising in a model with a gauge singlet scalar field in addition to the usual SU(2) scalar doublet, with mass up to $M_H$~600 GeV and discuss the interference effects in double Higgs production. We compute the NLO QCD corrections in the large $m_t$ limit and show that they can significantly distort kinematic distributions near the resonance peak.
We investigate the flavor-changing interactions in an extension of the standard model with singlet quarks and singlet Higgs, which are induced by the mixing between the ordinary quarks and the singlet quarks ($ q $-$ Q $ mixing). We consider the effects of the gauge and scalar interactions in the $ ΔF = 2 $ mixings of $ K^0 $, $ B_d $, $ B_s $ and $ D^0 $ mesons to show the currently allowed range of the $ q $-$ Q $ mixing. Then, we investigate the new physics around the electroweak scale to the TeV scale, which is accessible to the Large Hadron Collider. Especially, the scalar coupling mediat…
We study the LHC sensitivity to the charged Higgs discovery in the channel H^- -> tau_L^- nu in models with a singlet neutrino in large extra dimensions. The observation of such a signal would provide a distinctive evidence for these models since in the standard two Higgs doublet model type II, H^- -> tau_L^- nu is completely suppressed.
Sphaleron energies within the standard model with a real Higgs singlet added on are calculated. The coupled non-linear equations of motion are numerically solved and the sphaleron energy evaluated for a set of parameters in the Higgs potential. I find a small difference in the sphaleron energy compared to the standard model. A slightly stronger constraint on the strength of the first order phase transition thus results for this model.
In the next-to minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) one additional singlet-like Higgs boson with small couplings to standard model (SM) particles is introduced. Although the mass can be well below the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson mass its small couplings may make a discovery at the LHC difficult. We use a novel scanning technique to efficiently scan the whole parameter space and determine the range of cross sections and branching ratios for the light singlet-like Higgs boson below 125 GeV. This allows to determine the perspectives for the future discovery potential at the LHC. Speci…
Motivated by the mu-problem and the axion solution to the strong CP-problem, we extend the MSSM with one more chiral singlet field $X_e$. The underlying PQ-symmetry allows only one more term $X_e H_u H_d$ in the superpotential. The spectrum of the Higgs system includes a light pseudoscalar $a_X$ (in addition to the standard CP-even Higgs boson), predominantly decaying to two photons: $a_X \to γγ$. Both Higgs bosons might be in the range accessible to current LHC experiments.
We calculate renormalized Higgs boson couplings with gauge bosons and fermions at the one-loop level in the model with an additional isospin singlet real scalar field. These coupling constants can deviate from the predictions in the standard model due to tree-level mixing effects and one-loop contributions of the extra neutral scalar boson. We investigate how they can be significant under the theoretical constraints from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability and also the condition of avoiding the wrong vacuum. Furthermore, comparing with the predictions in the Type I two Higgs doublet mo…
We investigate a supersymmetric extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), called the TNMSSM, containing a $SU(2)$ Higgs triplet $(\hat{T})$ of $Y=0$ hypercharge and a singlet superfields $(\hat{S})$ in the corresponding superpotential. The model can be viewed, equivalently, as an extension of the NMSSM with the addition of a $\hat{T}-\hat{S}$ interaction and of an extra coupling of the triplet to the two Higgs doublets of the NMSSM. In this scenario the Higgs particle spectrum at tree-level gets additional mass contributions from the triplet and singlet scalar components r…
The radiative corrections to the $3\times3$scalar and the $2\times2$ pseudoscalar neutral Higgs boson massmatrices are calculated in the supersymmetric extension of the standard model including a gauge singlet superfield in the effective potential approach. The full $t$ and $b$ quark/squark contributions including the nonlogarithmic terms are taken into account, which are seen to affect the result significantly. An analytic formula for the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs scalar including these corrections is given. (Figure available upon request)
This work considers an extension of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs sector by a real, scalar singlet field, including applicability to a dark matter (DM) model with the addition of a Yukawa coupling to a Dirac fermion. The collider signatures and constraints on the mixed two-Higgs scenario are determined, including limits from Higgs production signals and exclusion searches, as well as constraints arising from the Higgs total and invisible widths. As there is overwhelming Higgs data which is consistent with a SM scenario, the case in which an additional scalar has evaded detection is further exp…
We present the results of the influence of the minimal supersymmetric standard model extended by an additional Higgs singlet N, with vacuum expectation value $v_N$, on the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. This gives different mass matrices for the charginos and neutralinos, which are taken into account within the relevant penguin diagrams leading to a contribution $Δa_μ$\ to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We show that a large vacuum expectation value for the Higgs singlet leads to a suppression of the supersymmetric contribution making it difficult to see in an experiment in …
The np pair in the spin-singlet state is treated as a Cooper np-pair within the extension of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model of light nuclei, describing the deuteron as a Cooper np-pair in the spin-triplet state. For the Cooper np-pair in the spin-singlet state we compute the binding energy and express the S-wave scattering length of np scattering in the spin-singlet state in terms of the binding energy. The theoretical value of the S-wave scattering length of np scattering agrees well with the experimental data.
Many extensions of the Standard Model include $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ singlet higgs bosons, $h^0$, and also vectorlike fermions which couple to it. The production and detection possibilities of such singlet neutral scalars at hadron colliders are considered for different scenarios of vectorlike fermions. We find that for some values of masses and couplings, detection at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) appears to be a distinct possibility, while at the Fermilab Tevatron upgrade the $h^0$ might be observed only in very favourable circumstances.
We describe a simple extension of the standard model, containing a scalar singlet and a triplet fermion. The model can explain the possible enhancement in the decay $H \rightarrow γγ$ at the LHC together with the excess found in the Higgs boson search at LEP2. The structure of the model is motivated by a recent argument, that was used to explain the number of fermion generations. For the sake of completenes we also considered the contributions from higher multiplets.
It is also shown that the couplings to $b$ and $τ$ and, in consequence, branching ratios of the SM-like Higgs a…
The simplest extension of the Standard Model is to add a gauge singlet scalar, $S$: the singlet extended Standard Model. In the absence of a $Z_2$ symmetry $S\rightarrow -S$ and if the new scalar is sufficiently heavy, this model can lead to resonant double Higgs production, significantly increasing the production rate over the Standard Model prediction. While searches for this signal are being performed, it is important to have benchmark points and models with which to compare the experimental results. In this paper we determine these benchmarks by maximizing the double Higgs production rate …
Light, electrically charged vector-like `leptons' with order one Yukawa couplings can enhance the Higgs to diphoton decay rate, as is suggested by measurements of the signal strength μ_{γγ} by ATLAS and CMS. However, the large Yukawa interactions tend to drive the Higgs quartic coupling negative at a low scale Λ< 10 TeV, and as such new physics is required to stabilize the electroweak vacuum. A plausible option, which does not rely on supersymmetry, is that the Higgs in fact has a much larger tree level quartic coupling than in the Standard Model, which is possible with an extended scalar sect…
We consider the case of the Dark Two Higgs Doublet Model (D2HDM) where a $U(1)'$ symmetry group and an extra Higgs doublet are added to the Standard Model. This model leads to a gauge singlet particle as an interesting Dark Matter (DM) candidate. We obtain phenomenological constraints to the parameter space of the model considering the one necessary to produce the correct density of thermal relic dark matter $Ωh^2$. We find a relation between the masses of the DM matter candidate $m_S$ and $m_{Z'}$ that satisfy the relic density for given values of $\tanβ$.
The Higgs-portal model with a singlet scalar Dark Matter particle is one of the simplest extensions to the Standard Model that can reproduce the relic density. Unfortunately this model is strongly constrained by direct and indirect DM detection, as well as by collider physics. Most of the parameter space is already ruled-out and the rest will be explored in the next future. We show that a simple extension of the DM sector with a second scalar singlet enables a substantial opening of the allowed window in the parameter space.
The effective potential at finite temperature is constructed within the minimal standard model when a real Higgs singlet is added on. We find that a region of parameter space exists for which one can find a first order transition strong enough to prevent the erasure due to sphalerons of baryon asymmetry, while keeping the mass of the smallest Higgs boson above the experimental lower bound of about 60 GeV.
An upperbound on the mass of the lightest neutral scalar Higgs boson is calculated in an extended version of the minimal supersymmetric standard model that contains an additional Higgs singlet. We integrate the renormalization group equations of the model, and impose low energy boundary conditions consistent with present experimental results, and ultra-violet conditions following from triviality. Radiative corrections induced by a large top quark Yukawa coupling are included in our analysis, and we find the allowed values for the mass of the Higgs boson as a function of the mass of the top qua…
We study the decay of a heavy Higgs boson into a light Higgs pair at one loop in the singlet extension of the Standard Model. To this purpose, we construct several renormalization schemes for the extended Higgs sector of the model. We apply these schemes to calculate the heavy-to-light Higgs decay width at next-to-leading order electroweak accuracy, and demonstrate that certain prescriptions lead to gauge-dependent results. We comprehensively examine how the NLO predictions depend on the relevant singlet model parameters, with emphasis on the trademark behavior of the quantum effects, and how …
