Universality in Complex Wishart ensembles: The 2 cut case

We studied the universality of Wishart ensembles whose covariance matrix has 2 distinct eigenvalues. We studied the asymptotic limit when the number of both eigenvalues goes to infinity and obtained universality results. In this case, the limiting eigenvalue distribution can be supported on 1 or 2 disjoint intervals. We obtained a necessary and sufficient condition on the parameters such that the limiting distribution is supported on 2 disjoint intervals and have computed the eigenvalue density in the limit. Furthermore, by using Riemann-Hilbert analysis, we have shown that under proper rescaling of the eigenvalues, the limiting correlation kernel is given by the sine kernel and the Airy kernel in the bulk and the edge of the spectrum respectively. As a consequence, the behavior of the largest eigenvalue in this model is described by the Tracy-Widom distribution.

A note on universality of the distribution of the largest eigenvalues in certain sample covariance matrices

Recently Johansson and Johnstone proved that the distribution of the (properly rescaled) largest principal component of the complex (real) Wishart matrix $ X^* \* X (X^t \*X) $ converges to the Tracy-Widom law as $ n, p $ (the dimensions of $ X $) tend to $ \infty $ in some ratio $ n/p \to γ>0. $ We extend these results in two directions. Transport Maps for $β$-Matrix Models in the Multi-Cut Regime

We use the transport methods developped in [3] to obtain universality results for local statistics of eigenvalues in the bulk and at the edge for $β$-matrix models in the multi-cut regime. We construct an approximate transport map inbetween two probability measures from the fixed filling fraction model discussed in [6] and deduce from it universality in the initial model.

Matrix Kesten Recursion, Inverse-Wishart Ensemble and Fermions in a Morse Potential

The random variable $1+z_1+z_1z_2+\dots$ appears in many contexts and was shown by Kesten to exhibit a heavy tail distribution. Universality for multiplicative statistics of Hermitian random matrices and the integro-differential Painlevé II equation
