We report preliminary results on time-dependent CP asymmetries in $B \to D^{*\mp}π^{\pm}$ decays. The CP asymmetry in these decays is proportional to $2R_{D^{*} π} \sin (2ϕ_1 + ϕ_3 \pm δ_{D^{*} π})$, where $R_{D^{*} π}$ is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured amplitudes, $δ_{D^{*} π}$ is the strong phase difference between them, and $ϕ_1$ and $ϕ_3$ are two angles of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. This study is based on a large data sample that contains 657 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We use a partial reconstruction technique, wherein signal $B \to D^{*\mp}π^{\pm}$ events are identified using information only from the $π^{\pm}$ from the $B$ decay and the charged slow pion from the subsequent decay of the $D^{*-}$. We obtain
$S^+ (D^* π) = +0.057 \pm 0.019(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.012(\mathrm{sys})$ and
$S^- (D^* π) = +0.038 \pm 0.020(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.010(\mathrm{sys})$.

Dihadron beam spin asymmetries provide a wide range of insights into nucleon structure and hadronization. Recent measurements at CLAS12 provide the first empirical evidence of nonzero $G_1^\perp$, the parton helicity-dependent dihadron fragmentation function (DiFF) encoding spin-momentum correlations in hadronization. These measurements also allow for a point-by-point extraction of the subleading-twist PDF $e(x)$ in a collinear framework. We observe different behavior of the asymmetries in different invariant mass regions, motivating a fully multidimensional study. The DiFFs also expand in ter…
In a sample of 471 million BB events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider we study the rare decays B -> K(*) l+ l-, where l+ l- is either e+e- or mu+mu-. We report results on partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries in seven bins of di-lepton mass-squared. We further present CP and lepton-flavor asymmetries for di-lepton masses below and above the J/psi resonance. We find no evidence for CP or lepton-flavor violation. The partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries are consistent with the Standard Model predictions and with results from other experim…
The Collins effect connects transverse quark spin with a measurable azimuthal dependence in the yield of hadronic fragments around the quark's momentum vector. Using two different reconstruction methods we observe statistically significant azimuthal asymmetries for charged pion pairs in e+e- annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 10.52 GeV, which can be attributed to a transverse polarization of the primordial quarks. The measurement was performed using a sample of 79 million hadronic events collected with the Belle detector.

Spin asymmetries provide a wide range of insights into nucleon structure and hadronization. Recent measurements of beam spin asymmetries of $π^+π^-$ dihadrons from Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) at CLAS12 provide the first empirical evidence of a nonzero $G_1^\perp$, the parton helicity-dependent Dihadron Fragmentation Function (DiFF) encoding spin-momentum correlations in hadronization. These measurements have been extended to aid in the characterization of $H_1^\perp$ and $H_1^\sphericalangle$, the DiFFs dependent on parton transverse spin, via a multidimensional partial wa…

I report some recent results on direct CP violation measurements in hadronic decays collected by the upgraded Collider Detector (CDF II) at the Fermilab Tevatron: CP-violating asymmetries in the two-body non-leptonic charmless decays of $b$-hadrons, the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays $B^- \to D(\to K^+π^-)K^-$ and $B^- \to D(\to K^+π^-)π^-$, and the measurement of TP asymmetries in the $B^{0}_{s} \to ϕϕ$ decays.
A sample of about 5500 $\bar B^0 \to D^{*+} ρ^-$ and 700 $\bar B^0 \to D^{*+} a_1^-$ events is identified, using the technique of partial reconstruction, among 22.7 $B\bar B$ pairs collected by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II storage ring. With these events, the $B^0$ lifetime is measured to be $1.616 \pm 0.064 \pm 0.075$ ps. This measurement serves as validation for the procedures required to measure $\sin(2β+ γ)$ with partial reconstruction of $\bar B^0 \to D^{*+} ρ^-$.
We report measurements of the radiative decay B --> K^*γ. The analysis is based on a data sample containing 85.0*10^6 B meson pairs collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB storage ring. Using a sample of 227 million $Υ(4S) \to B \bar{B}$ events collected with the $BABAR$ detector at the PEP-II $B$ Factory in 1999--2004, we study $B^- \to D^0 K^*(892)^-$ decays where $K^{*-} \to K^0_S π^-$ and $D^0 \to K^-π^+, K^- π^+ π^0, K^-π^+ π^+ π^-$ (non-CP final states), $K^+ K^-, π^+ π^- (CP+$ eigenstates), $K^0_S~π^0, K^0_S ϕ$ and $K^0_S ω(CP-$ eigenstates). The partial rate charge asymmetries $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ and the ratios $\mathcal{R}_{CP}$ defined in the literature as the sum of the $B^+$ and $B^-$ partial rates to a charged $K^*$ and a $D^0 CP$-eigenstate divi ded by the $B \to…
We present results of a search for CP violation in B0B0bar mixing with the BABAR detector. We select a sample of B0-->D*-Xl+ nu decays with a partial reconstruction method and use kaon tagging to assess the flavor of the other B meson in the event. We determine the CP violating asymmetry ACP = (N(B0B0) - N(B0bar B0bar))/(N(B0B0) + N(B0bar B0bar))=(0.06+-0.17+0.38-0.32)%, corresponding to delta_CP =1 - |q/p| =(0.29+-0.84+1.88 -1.61)*10^-3.
We present a new measurement of CP violation induced by B0 B0bar oscillations, based on the full data set collected by the BaBar experiment at the PEPII collider. We use a sample of about 6 million B0->D* l nu decays selected with partial reconstruction of the D* meson. The charged lepton identifies the flavor of the first B meson at its decay time, the flavor of the other B is determined by kaon tagging. We determine the parameter dCP = 1 - |q/p| = (0.29+-0.84+1.78/-1.61) 10^-3.
Based on a data sample of 81.7 fb^-1 collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, we present the current status of the measurement of the branching fraction of Upsilon(4S) to B0bar B^0. Our study of the decay was performed through the exclusive decays B0bar to D^{*+} \ell^{-} barν_{\ell} using a partial reconstruction method, where the D^{*+} is detected only through the soft pion daughter from the decay D^{*+} to D^{0} pi^{+}.
We describe in detail a previously published measurement of CP violation induced by B0-anti B0 oscillations, based on an integrated luminosity of 425.7 fb-1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEPII collider. We apply a novel technique to a sample of about 6 million B0bar -> D*+ l- nubar decays selected with partial reconstruction of the D*+ meson. The charged lepton identifies the flavor of one B meson at its decay time, the flavor of the other B is determined by kaon tagging. We determine a CP violating asymmetry ACP = (0.0006 +- 0.0017 + 0.0038 - 0.0032). This measurement is consistent…

Electron-positron annihilation data collected by the BABAR detector near the Y(4S) resonance are used to study the inclusive decay of B mesons to D_S^(+/-) and D_S^(*+/-) mesons, where the D_S^(+/-) is reconstructed using the decay D_S^(+/-) --> phi pi^(+/-). The production fraction of inclusive D_S^((*)+/-) and the corresponding momentum spectra have been determined. The exclusive decays B^0 --> D^(*-)D_S^((*)+) are observed with a partial reconstruction technique which uses the soft pion from the D^(*+/-) decay in association with the reconstructed D_S^((*)+/-). The beam energy constraint is…
Using data collected on the Upsilon(4S) resonance and the nearby continuum by the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have searched for the semileptonic decay of B mesons to electron-antiproton inclusive final states. We obtain an upper limit of B(B-> pbar e nuebar X)<5.9e-4. For the b->u decay, we find an upper limit of B(B^- -> p pbar e nuebar)< 5.2e-3. All upper limits are measured at the 90% confidence level.

We present model-independent measurements of the branching fractions ${\cal B}(B^0\to D_s^{*+} D^{*-})$ and ${\cal B}(D_s^+ \to ϕπ^+)$ based on 19.3 $\textup{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the $BABAR$ detector at the PEP-II $e^+e^-$ $B$ Factory. Neutral $B$-meson decays to the $D_s^{*+}D^{*-}$ final state are selected with a partial reconstruction of the $D_s^{*+}$; that is, only the $D^{*-}$ and the soft photon from the decay $D_s^{*+} \to \Ds γ$ are reconstructed. The branching fraction ${\cal B}(B^0\to D_s^{*+} D^{*-})$ is extracted from these event yields, while ${\cal B}(D_s^+ \to ϕπ^+)$ …
CP asymmetries have been measured recently by the LHCb collaboration in three-body $B^+$ decays to final states involving charged pions and kaons. Large asymmetries with opposite signs at a level of about 60% have been observed in $B^\pm\to π^\pm({\rm or} K^\pm)π^+π^-$ and $B^\pm \to π^\pm K^+K^-$ for restricted regions in the Dalitz plots involving $π^+π^-$ and $K^+K^-$ with low invariant mass. U-spin is shown to predict corresponding $ΔS=0$ and $ΔS=1$ asymmetries with opposite signs and inversely proportional to their branching ratios, in analogy with a successful relation predicted thirteen…
We present an update on total and partial branching fractions and on CP asymmetries in the semi-inclusive decay B -> Xs l+l-. Further, we summarize our results on branching fractions and CP asymmetries for semi-inclusive and fully-inclusive B -> Xs gamma decays. We present the first result on the CP asymmetry difference of charged and neutral B -> Xs gamma$ decays yielding the first constraint on the ratio of Wilson coefficients Im (C8/C7).

A new generation of complete experiments in pseudoscalar meson photo-production is being pursued at several laboratories. While new data are emerging, there is some confusion regarding definitions of asymmetries and the conventions used in partial wave analyses (PWA). We present expressions for constructing asymmetries as coordinate-system independent ratios of cross sections, along with the names used for these ratios by different PWA groups. (This update reflects a recent change in the definition of an asymmetry as used by one group.)
We present preliminary results on the branching fractions $BF(B^0\to D_s^{\ast+} D^{\ast-})$ and $BF(D_s^+\toϕπ^+)$, based on a data sample of approximately $124\times10^6$ \BB events collected by the \babar detector at the PEP-II $e^+ e^-$ \B--factory. $BF(B^0\to D_s^{\ast+} D^{\ast-})$ is measured selecting neutral \B meson decays to the final state $D_s^{\ast+} D^{\ast-}$ with partial reconstruction of the $D_s^{\ast+}$, in which only the $D^{\ast-}$ and the soft photons from the decay $D_s^{\ast+} \to D_s^+ γ$ are reconstructed. The branching fraction product $BF(B^0\to D_s^{\ast+} D^{\ast…
In the presence of an electric dipole coupling of t-tbar to a photon, and an analogous "weak" dipole coupling to the Z, CP violation in the process e+e- --> t tbar results in modified polarization of the top and anti-top. This polarization can be analyzed by studying the angular distributions of decay charged leptons when the top or anti-top decays leptonically. Analytic expressions are presented for these distributions when either t or tbar decays leptonically, including O(alpha_s) QCD corrections in the soft-gluon approximation. The angular distributions are insensitive to anomalous interact…

We report a measurement of the $B^0-\bar{B}^0$ mixing parameter $Δm_d$ based on a $\rm 29.1~fb^{-1}$ sample of $Υ(4S)$ resonance decays collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric $e^+ e^-$ collider. We use events with a partially reconstructed $B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to D^{*\mp} π^{\pm}$ candidate and where the flavor of the accompanying $B$ meson is identified by the charge of the lepton from a $B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to X^{\mp} \ell^{\pm} ν$ decay. The proper-time difference between the two $B$ mesons is determined from the distance between the two decay vertices. From a simultaneous fit to th…
Recent measurements of branching fractions and CP-violating partial-rate asymmetries for rare hadronic B-meson decays by the asymmetric-energy B-factory experiments, Belle and BaBar, are reviewed.
We consider CP-violating effects in tau -> 3 pi nu_ tau and 4 pi nu_ tau (Delta S = 0), and tau -> K pi pi nu_tau (Delta S = 1), assuming that the usual Standard Model amplitudes for these processes interfere with analogous amplitudes mediated by a charged Higgs boson. In the Delta S = 0 case we focus specifically on the intermediate resonant processes tau -> V pi nu_tau (with V=omega, rho, and a_1), and consider three CP-odd observables -- the partial rate asymmetry, a polarization-dependent asymmetry and a triple-product asymmetry. In the Delta S = 1 case we examine the partial rate asymmetr…
Using the helicity amplitude technique, we derive differential decay widths and angular distributions for the decay cascade $D\to K_{1}(1270,1400)\ell^+ν_{\ell}\to (Kππ)\ell^+ν_{\ell} (\ell=e,μ)$, in which the electron and muon mass is explicitly included. Using a set of phenomenological results for $D\to K_1$ form factors, we calculate partial decay widths and branching fractions for $D^0\to K_1^-\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ and $D^+\to K_1^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$, but find that results for ${\cal B}(D\to K_1(1270)e^+ν_{e})$ are larger than recent BESIII measurements by about a factor 1.5. We further demonstrate…
We calculate the double-spin asymmetries $A_{\mathrm{LL}}$ for the processes $\ell N\to h X$ and $\ell N\to {\mathrm{jet}}\, X$ at next-to-leading order accuracy in perturbative QCD. We compare our theoretical results for $A_{\mathrm{LL}}$ to data from the SLAC E155 experiment, finding only partially satisfactory agreement. We conclude that measurements of $A_{\mathrm{LL}}$ and the relevant polarized and unpolarized cross sections should be performed at the present-day fixed-target lepton scattering experiments, as well as at a future electron ion collider, in order to verify our understanding…
The first data on target and beam-target asymmetries for the $γp\toπ^0ηp$ reaction at photon energies from 1050 up to 1450 MeV are presented. The measurements were performed using the Crystal Ball and TAPS detector setup at the Glasgow tagged photon facility of the Mainz Microtron MAMI. The general assumption that the reaction is dominated by the $Δ3/2^-$ amplitude is confirmed. The data are in particular sensitive to small contributions from other partial waves.
