Normal modes, quasi-normal modes and super-radiant modes are studied to clarify the total dynamics for complex scalar fields in Kerr anti-de Sitter black hole spacetime. Orthonormal relations and quasi-orthonormal relations are obtained for normal modes and quasi-normal modes. Mode expansions are done and the conserved quantities are studied. Any modes are shown to be separated into two groups, physical modes and unphysical modes, by the zero mode line. Zero modes themselves do not exist as normalizable modes with the correct boundary condition. The allowed physical modes exclude the super-radiant instability modes in rotating black hole spacetime. The result is consistent with the co-rotating frame consideration.
Finding exact solutions for black-hole greybody factors is generically impractical; typically one resorts either to making semi-analytic or numerical estimates, or alternatively to deriving rigorous analytic bounds. Indeed, rigorous bounds have already been established for the greybody factors of Schwarzschild and Riessner-Nordstrom black holes, and more generally for those of arbitrary static spherically symmetric asymptotically flat black holes. Adding rotation to the problem greatly increases the level of difficulty, both for purely technical reasons (the Kerr or Kerr-Newman black holes are…
By using an analytic solution of the Teukolsky equation in the Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-Newman-de Sitter geometries, an analytic expression of the absorption rate formulae for these black holes is calculated.
The analytic solution of Teukolsky equation in Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-Newman-de Sitter geometries is presented and the properties of the solution are examined. In particular, we show that our solution satisfies the Teukolsky-Starobinsky identities explicitly and fix the relative normalization between solutions with the spin weight $s$ and $-s$.
Gaussian curvature of the two-surface r=0, t=const is calculated for the Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-Newman-de Sitter solutions, yielding non-zero analytical expressions for both the cases. The results obtained, on the one hand, exclude the possibility for that surface to be a disk and, on the other hand, permit one to establish a correct geometrical interpretation of that surface for each of the two solutions.
It is shown that the Kerr black hole could act as accelerators for spinning particles. In principle, it could obtain arbitrarily high energy for extremal Kerr black hole. In this paper, we extend the previous research to the Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter background and find that the cosmological constant plays an important role in the result. For the case of Kerr-anti-de Sitter black holes, like the Kerr background, only the extremal Kerr-anti-de Sitter black holes can have a divergent center-of-mass energy of collision. While, for the case of Kerr-de Sitter black holes, the collision of two spinning …
Hawking evaporation of photons in a variable-mass Kerr space-time is investigated by using a method of the generalized tortoise coordinate transformation. The blackbody radiant spectrum of photons displays a new spin-rotation coupling effect obviously dependent on different helicity states of photons.
Using the Pöshl-Teller approximation, we evaluate the neutrino quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole. The result shows that for a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole, massless neutrino perturbation of large $Λ$, positive $m$ and small value of $n$ will decay slowly.
We continue studying the zero mass limit of the Kerr- (Anti) de Sitter space-times by investigating the possibility of special values of the frequencies to have polynomial solutions for the radial wave equation, compute reflection coefficient for waves coming from and going to the cosmological horizon and see whether there is Hawking radiation for de Sitter geometry. We used the Parikh-Wilczek method to study this property and could not find Hawking radiation.
We characterize Cauchy data sets leading to vacuum space-times with vanishing Mars-Simon tensor. This approach provides an algorithmic procedure to check whether a given initial data set $(Σ,h_{ij},K_{ij})$ evolves into a space-time which is locally isometric to a member of the Kerr-(A)(dS) family.
The analytic proof of mode stability of the Kerr black hole was provided by Whiting. In his proof, the construction of a conserved quantity for unstable mode was crucial. We extend the method of the analysis for the Kerr-de Sitter geometry. The perturbation equations of massless fields in the Kerr-de Sitter geometry can be transformed into Heun's equations which have four regular singularities. In this paper we investigate differential and integral transformations of solutions of the equations. Using those we construct a conserved quantity for unstable modes in the Kerr-de Sitter geometry, and…
Equatorial motion of test particles in the Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes is considered. Circular orbits are determined, their properties are discussed for both the black-hole and naked-singularity spacetimes, and their relevance for thin accretion discs is established.
We determine all spacetime flows which lead to a Hamiltonian dynamics in the space of general relativistic initial data sets with asymptotically Kerr-de Sitter ends. The corresponding Hamiltonians are calculated. Some implications for black-hole thermodynamics are pointed out.
We construct initial data sets which satisfy the vacuum constraint equa- tions of General Relativity with positive cosmologigal constant. More pre- silely, we deform initial data with ends asymptotic to Schwarzschild-de Sitter to obtain non-trivial initial data with exactly Kerr-de Sitter ends. The method is inspired from Corvino's gluing method. We obtain here a extension of a previous result for the time-symmetric case by Chruściel and Pollack.
It is well known that the perturbation equations of massless fields for the Kerr-de Sitter geometry can be written in the form of separable equations. The equations have five definite singularities so that the analysis has been expected to be difficult. We show that these equations can be transformed to Heun's equations, for which we are able to use known technique for the analysis of the solutions. We reproduce results known previously for the Kerr geometry and de Sitter geometry in the confluent limits of the Heun's functions. Our analysis applies can be extended to Kerr-Newman-de Sitter geo…
The causal properties of the family of Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes are analyzed and compared to those of the Kerr family. At first we show that a Kerr-de Sitter spacetime can be viewed as an assembly of Carter's blocks i.e. four dimensional spacetime regions contained within Killing horizons or a Killing horizon and the asymptotic de Sitter region. From this perspective and leaving aside topological identifications, the causal properties of a Kerr de Sitter spacetime are determined by the causal properties of the individual Carter's blocks viewed as spacetimes in their own right. We show that an…
We examine the properties of Quantum nonthermal radiation of a Kerr-anti-de Sitter (KAdS) black holes. Assuming that a crossing of the positive and negative Dirac energy levels occurs in a region near the event horizon of the hole, and spontaneous quantum nonthermal radiation takes place in the overlap region. We solve the biquadratic equation governing the location of the event horizon of the KAdS black holes and present closed analytic expression for the radii of the horizons.
It was recently discovered that Killing horizons in the generic Kerr-NUT-(anti) de Sitter spacetimes are projectively singular, i.e. their spaces of the null generators have singular geometry. Only if the cosmological constant takes the special value determined by the Kerr and NUT parameters, and the radius of the horizon, then the corresponding horizon does not suffer that problem. In the current paper, the projectively non-singular horizons are investigated. They are found to be cosmological and non-extremal. Every projectively non-singular horizon can be used to define a global completion o…
We show that the study of hidden conformal symmetry that associates to the Kerr/CFT correspondence can also apply to the cosmological horizon in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT-de Sitter spacetime. This symmetry allows one to employ some two dimensional conformal field theory methods to understand the properties of the cosmological horizon. The entropy can be understood by using the Cardy formula, and the equation for scattering process in the near region has an agreement with the one obtained from a two point function in two dimensional conformal field theory. We also show that pair production can occur…
The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has revealed the first direct image of a black hole, as per the shadow of a Kerr black hole of general relativity. However, other Kerr-like rotating black holes of modified gravity theories cannot be ignored, and they are essential as they offer an arena in which these theories can be tested through astrophysical observation. This motivates us to investigate asymptotically de Sitter rotating black holes wherein interpreting the cosmological constant $Λ$ as the vacuum energy leads to a deformation in the vicinity of a black hole -- new Kerr--de Sitter s…
We use direct products of Einstein Metrics to construct new solutions to Einstein's Equations with cosmological constant. We illustrate the technique with three families of solutions having the geometries Kerr/de Sitter X de Sitter, Kerr/anti-de Sitter X anti-de Sitter and Kerr X Kerr.
A class of exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations is presented which describes an accelerating and rotating charged black hole in an asymptotically de Sitter or anti-de Sitter universe. The metric is presented in a new and convenient form in which the meaning of the parameters is clearly identified, and from which the physical properties of the solution can readily be interpreted.
We provide a classification of $Λ>0$-vacuum spacetimes which admit a Killing vector field with respect to which the associated "Mars-Simon tensor" (MST) vanishes and having a conformally flat $\mathcal{J}^-$ (or $\mathcal{J}^+$). To that end, we also give a complete classification of conformal Killing vector fields on the $3$-sphere $\mathbb{S}^3$ up to Möbius transformations shedding light on the two fundamental constants that characterize the family of Kerr-de Sitter-like spacetimes, which turn out to be well-defined geometrical invariants. The topology of $\mathcal{J}$ is determined in ever…
The complete analytical solutions of the geodesic equations in Kerr-de Sitter and Kerr-anti-de Sitter space-times are presented. They are expressed in terms of Weierstrass elliptic p, zeta, and sigma functions as well as hyperelliptic Kleinian sigma functions restricted to the one-dimensional theta-divisor. We analyze the dependency of timelike geodesics on the parameters of the space-time metric and the test-particle and compare the results with the situation in Kerr space-time with vanishing cosmological constant. Furthermore, we systematically can find all last stable spherical and circular…
It is now widely accepted that the universe as we understand it is accelerating in expansion and fits the de Sitter model rather well. As such, a realistic assumption of black holes must place them on a de Sitter background and not Minkowski as is typically done in General Relativity. The most astrophysically relevant black hole is the uncharged, rotating Kerr solution, a member of the more general Kerr-Newman metrics. A generalization of the rotating Kerr black hole to a solution of the Einstein's equation with a cosmological constant $Λ$ was discovered by Carter \cite{DWDW}. It is typically …
We analyze the behavior of causal geodesics on a Kerr-de Sitter spacetime with particular emphasis on their completeness property. We set up an initial value problem (IVP) whose solutions lead to a global understanding of causal geodesics on these spacetime. Causal geodesics that avoid the rotation axis are complete except the ones that hit the ring-like curvature singularity and those that encounter the ring singularity are necessary equatorial ones. We also show the existence of geodesics that cross or lie on the rotation axis. The equations governing the latter family show the repulsive nat…
Using the adiabatic invariant action and applying Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule and first law of black hole thermodynamics a study of quantization of entropy and horizon area of Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole is carried out. The same entropy spectrum is obtained in two different coordinate systems. It is also observed that the spacing of the entropy spectrum is independent of the black hole parameters and also the corresponding quantum of horizon area is in agreement with the results of Bekenstein.
Based on the consideration that the black hole horizon and the cosmological horizon of Kerr-de Sitter black hole are not independent each other, we conjecture the total entropy of the system should have an extra term contributed from the correlations between the two horizons, except for the sum of the two horizon entropies. By employing globally effective first law and effective thermodynamic quantities, we obtain the corrected total entropy and find that the region of stable state for kerr-de Sitter is related to the angular velocity parameter $a$, i.e., the region of stable state becomes big…
We investigate the quasinormal modes for gravitational perturbations of rotating black holes in four dimensional Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. The study of the quasinormal frequencies related to these modes is relevant to the AdS/CFT correspondence. Although results have been obtained for Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrom AdS black holes, quasinormal frequencies of Kerr-AdS black holes are computed for the first time. We solve the Teukolsky equations in AdS spacetime, providing a second order and a Pade approximation for the angular eigenvalues associated to the Teukolsky angular equation…
The goal of this paper is to extend the particle-like quantization scheme presented in Pacheco and Silk (2020), to extremal Kerr-de Sitter black holes in four spacetime dimensions, thereby obtaining various quantized parameters, like the black hole mass and angular momentum, consistent with existing results, in the proper limits. Moreover, we show numerically, that for such extremal quantum black holes, there is a root mean square deviation from the First Law of black hole thermodynamics, of the order $\mathcal{O}(Λ^{0.45 \pm 0.01})$, where $Λ$ denotes the Cosmological Constant.
The Newman-Penrose formalism is used to derive the Teukolsky master equations controlling massless scalar, neutrino, electromagnetic, gravitino, and gravitational field perturbations of the Kerr-de Sitter spacetime. Then the quantum entropy of a non-extreme Kerr-de Sitter black hole due to arbitrary spin fields is calculated by the improved thin-layer brick wall model. It is shown that the subleading order contribution to the entropy is dependent on the square of the spins of particles and that of the specific angular momentum of black holes as well as the cosmological constant. The logarithmi…
Critical discussion of the recently published results [Muller, A. and Aschenbach, B. 2007 Class. Quantum Grav. 24, p. 2637; arXiv:0704.3963] on the non-monotonic orbital velocity profiles of the Keplerian motion of test particles and l = const motion of test perfect fluid around K(a)dS black holes is given, and the discrepancies concerned the existence of the non-monotonicity in dependence of the spacetime parameters are corrected. Moreover a new non-monotonic behaviour of the Keplerian orbital velocity in the Kerr-antide Sitter spacetimes is highlighted.
We briefly review how to compute the mass and angular momenta of rotating, asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory of gravity using superpotentials derived from standard Noether identities. The calculations depend on the asymptotic form of the metrics only and hence take no account of the source of the curvature. When the source of curvature is a black hole, the results can be checked using the first law of black hole thermodynamics.
We obtain the Kerr-anti-de-sitter (Kerr-AdS) and Kerr-de-sitter (Kerr-dS) black hole (BH) solutions to the Einstein field equation in the perfect fluid dark matter background using the Newman-Janis method and Mathematica package. We discuss in detail the black hole properties and obtain the following main results: (i) From the horizon equation $g_{rr}=0$, we derive the relation between the perfect fluid dark matter parameter $α$ and the cosmological constant $Λ$ when the cosmological horizon $r_Λ$ exists. For $Λ=0$, we find that $α$ is in the range $0<α<2M$ for $α>0$ and $-7.18M<α<0$ for $α<0$…
We extend the classical Damour-Ruffini method and discuss Hawking radiation in Kerr-Newman-de Sitter(KNdS) black hole. Under the condition that the total energy, angular momentum and charge of spacetime are conserved, taking the reaction of the radiation of the particle to the spacetime and the relation between the black hole event horizon and the cosmological horizon into consideration, we derive the black hole radiation spectrum. The radiation spectrum is no longer a pure thermal one. It is related to the change of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy corresponding the black hole event horizon and…
The method of Rindler and Ishak enables one to study how light is bent in the vicinity of a non-rotating and spherically symmetric gravitational lens. This method mainly aims to investigate the role of cosmological constant in the consequent path. In this paper, we use the extension of Rindler-Ishak method (RIM) in order to evaluate the deflection angle of null geodesics in the equatorial plane of Kerr-Newman anti de Sitter (KNAdS) spacetime. We then use astrophysical data to see the effect of rotation and charge on the bending angle of light for seven distinct stars and two black holes under …
Optical reference geometry and related concept of inertial forces are investigated in Kerr-de Sitter spacetimes. Properties of the inertial forces are summarized and their typical behaviour is illustrated. The intuitive 'Newtonian' application of the forces in the relativistic dynamics is demonstrated in the case of the test particle circular motion, static equilibrium positions and perfect fluid toroidal configurations. Features of the optical geometry are illustrated by the embedding diagrams of its equatorial plane. The embedding diagrams do not cover whole the stationary regions of the spa…
We determine the timelike Killing vector field that gives the correct definition of energy for test fields propagating in a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter spacetime, and use this result to prove that test fields cannot destroy extremal Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black holes.
This work is geared towards analysis of shadows cast by Kerr-de Sitter (KdS) and Kerr-de Sitter Revisited (RKdS) black holes. Considering observers in the vicinity of the static radius, we derive the impact parameters defining the apparent positions of the shadows. Such observers are of interest to our work because embedding diagrams have shown that de Sitter space-time is analogous to an asymptotically flat one in the vicinity of the static radius. We also perform a comparative analysis between our result with that in Ref.[1]. Furthermore, we numerically obtain the radii of curvature, vertica…
We study in detail the modes of a classical scalar field on a Kerr-Newman-anti-de Sitter (KN-AdS) black hole. We construct sets of basis modes appropriate to the two possible boundary conditions (``reflective'' and ``transparent'') at time-like infinity, and consider whether super-radiance is possible. If we employ ``reflective'' boundary conditions, all modes are non-super-radiant. On the other hand, for ``transparent'' boundary conditions, the presence of super-radiance depends on our definition of positive frequency. For those KN-AdS black holes having a globally time-like Killing vector, t…
We study general non-equatorial motion of photons in the Kerr-de Sitter black hole and naked singularity spacetimes. The motion is governed by the impact parameter $X$ related to axial symmetry of the spacetime, and impact parameter $q$ related to its hidden symmetry. Appropriate 'effective potentials' governing the latitudinal and radial motion are introduced and their behaviour is examined by 'Chinese boxes' technique giving regions allowed for the motion in terms of the impact parameters. Limits on the impact parameter $X$ and $q$ are established in dependence on the spacetime parameters $M…
We investigate the instability of charged massive scalar fields in Kerr-Newman spacetime. Due to the super-radiant effect of the background geometry, the bound state of the scalar field is unstable, and its amplitude grows in time. By solving the Klein-Gordon equation of the scalar field as an eigenvalue problem, we numerically obtain the growth rate of the amplitude of the scalar field. Although the dependence of the scalar field mass and the scalar field charge on this growth rate agrees with the result of the analytic approximation, the maximum value of the growth rate is three times larger…
Hawking evaporation of photons in a Vaidya-de Sitter black hole is investigated by using the method of generalized tortoise coordinate transformation. Both the location and the temperature of the event horizon depend on the time. It is shown that Hawking radiation of photons exists only for the complex Maxwell scalar $ϕ_0$ in the advanced Eddington-Finkelstein coordinate system. This asymmetry of Hawking radiation for different components of Maxwell fields probably arises from the asymmetry of spacetime in the advanced Eddington-Finkelstein coordinate system. It is shown that the black body ra…
The throttling process of the Kerr-Newman-anti-de Sitter (KN-AdS) black holes is systematically studied in the extended phase space. In this framework, the cosmological constant is interpreted as a varying thermodynamic pressure, and the black hole mass is identified with enthalpy. The throttling process is essentially an isenthalpic (i.e., constant-mass) process for the KN-AdS black holes. The Joule-Thomson coefficient, inversion temperature, inversion curve, and isenthalpic curve are investigated in order, with both analytical and numerical methods. It is found that there are no maximum inve…
We begin a program of work aimed at examining the interior of a rotating black hole with a non--zero cosmological constant. The generalisation of Teukolsky's equation for the radial mode functions is presented. It is shown that the energy fluxes of scalar, electromagnetic and gravity waves are regular at the Cauchy horizon whenever the surface gravity there is less than the surface gravity at the cosmological horizon. This condition is narrowly allowed, even when the cosmological constant is very small, thus permitting an observer to pass through the hole, viewing the naked singularity along t…
We study the family of Einstein-Maxwell instantons associated with the Kerr-Newman metrics with a positive cosmological constant. This leads to a quantisation condition on the masses and charges of the resulting Euclidean solutions.
We find an exact solution of Kerr-Newman-de Sitter type on the braneworld(4D) of the DGP model. When a constant 4D Ricci scalar is assumed, only zero(flat) and a positive(de-Sitter) values satisfy the Hamiltonian constraint equation coming from the extra dimension. With a Z_2-symmetry across the brane and a stationary and axisymmetric metric ansatz on the brane, we solve the constraint equation exactly in the Kerr-Schild form with de-Sitter background. In the de-Sitter background this Kerr-Schild solution is well behaved under Boyer-Lindquist transformation: the constraint equation is preserve…
Generalising arXiv:1511.08496, we construct further families of compact Einstein-Maxwell instantons associated with the Kerr-Newman metrics with a positive cosmological constant.
Taking advantage of the natural length scale set by the cosmological constant $Λ>0$, conditions on the parameters $(Λ, M, a^{2})$ have been found, so that a Kerr-de Sitter specetime either describes a black hole with well separated horizons, or describes degenerate configurations where two or more horizons coincide. As long as the rotation parameter $a^{2}$ is subject to the constraint $a^{2}Λ\ll 1$, while the mass parameter $M$ is subject to: $ a^{2}[1+O(a^{2}Λ)^{2})] <M^{2}< \frac {1}{9Λ}[1+2a^{2}Λ+O(a^{2}Λ)^{2})]$, then a Kerr-de Sitter spacetime with such parameters, describes a black hole…
It has been recently demonstrated that the orbital velocity profile around Kerr black holes in the equatorial plane as observed in the locally non-rotating frame exhibits a non-monotonic radial behaviour. We show here that this unexpected minimum-maximum feature of the orbital velocity remains if the Kerr vacuum is generalized to the Kerr-de Sitter or Kerr-anti-de Sitter metric. This is a new general relativity effect in Kerr spacetimes with non-vanishing cosmological constant. Assuming that the profile of the orbital velocity is known, this effect constrains the spacetime parameters.
We consider the limit $a\rightarrow \infty$ of the Kerr-de Sitter spacetime. The spacetime is a Petrov type-D solution of the vacuum Einstein field equations with a positive cosmological constant $Λ$, vanishing Mars-Simon tensor and conformally flat scri. It possesses an Abelian 2-dimensional group of symmetries whose orbits are spacelike or timelike in different regions, and it includes, as a particular case, de Sitter spacetime. The global structure of the solution is analyzed in detail, with particular attention to its Killing horizons: they are foliated by non-compact marginally trapped su…
We use Heun type solutions given in \cite{Suzuki} for the radial Teukolsky equation, written in the background metric of the Kerr-Newman-de Sitter geometry, to calculate the quasinormal frequencies for polynomial solutions and the reflection coefficient for waves coming from the de Sitter horizon and reflected at the outer horizon of the black hole.
We construct the light escape cones of isotropic spot sources of radiation residing in special classes of reference frames in the Kerr-de Sitter (KdS) black hole spacetimes, namely, in the fundamental class of 'non-geodesic' locally non-rotating reference frames (LNRFs), and two classes of 'geodesic' frames, the radial geodesic frames (RGFs), both falling and escaping, and the frames related to the circular geodesic orbits (CGFs). We compare the cones constructed in a given position for the LNRFs, RGFs, and CGFs. We have shown that the photons locally counter-rotating relative to LNRFs with po…
In this paper, we discuss the tunneling of scalar particles near the event horizon of stationary and nonstationary Kerr-de Sitter black hole using Lorentz violation theory in curved space time. The modified form of Hamilton-Jacobi equation is derived from the Klein-Gordon equation by applying Lorentz violation theory. The Hawking temperatures derived from stationary and nonstationary Kerr-de Sitter black holes are modified due to Lorentz violation theory. It is noted that the change in Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and modified Hawking temperatures of stationary and nonstationary Kerr-de Sitter b…
We study geodesics along a noncompact Kerr-Newman instanton, where the asymptotic geometry is either de Sitter or anti-de Sitter. We use first integrals for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation to characterize trajectories both near and away from horizons. We study the interaction of geodesics with special features of the metric, particularly regions of angular degeneracy or "theta horizons" in the de Sitter case. Finally, we characterize a number of stable equilibrium orbits.
We show how to compute the mass of a Kerr-anti-de Sitter spacetime with respect to the anti-de Sitter background in any dimension, using a superpotential which has been derived from standard Noether identities. The calculation takes no account of the source of the curvature and confirms results obtained for black holes via the first law of thermodynamics.
