We search for the neutral higgs production associated with the $W$ boson using high-$p_{T}$ isolated like-sign dilepton events in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96 TeV. The data were collected with the CDF-II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$. We examine the dilepton events on the plane of the 2nd lepton $p_{T}$ ($p_{T2}$) versus the $ p_{T}$ of dilepton system ($p_{T12}$) and tune the final cut to maximize the sensitivity on the plane. We set the final cut to the 2nd lepton $p_{T}$ greater than 20 GeV/c and the $p_{T}$ of dilepton system greater than 15 GeV/c. The expected number of signal events is 0.46 for the fermiophobic higgs of the mass 110 GeV/$c^{2}$ and 0.19 for the mass 160 GeV/$c^{2}$ assuming the Standard Model cross section. The number of events for the Standard Model higgs is 0.02 and 0.18 for 110 GeV/$c^2$ and 160 GeV/$c^{2}$, respectively. The expected number of backgrounds is 3.23 $\pm$ 0.69, while we observed 3 events in the data. From these results, we obtain the limits on $σ(p\bar{p}\to Wh) \times Br(h\to W^{+}W^{-})$ of 2.2 pb for the higgs of 110 GeV/$c^{2}$ and 1.4 pb for 160 GeV/$c^2$ at the 95% confidence level.
The results of searches for Supersymmetry in events with two same-sign isolated leptons, hadronic jets, and missing transverse energy in the final state are presented. The searches use pp collisions at 7 TeV collected in 2011 by the CMS experiment.
The results of searches for new physics in events with two same-sign isolated leptons, hadronic jets, and missing transverse energy in the final state are presented. The searches use an integrated luminosity of 35 inverse picobarns of pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The observed numbers of events agree with the standard model predictions, and no evidence for new physics is found. To facilitate the interpretation of our data in a broader range of new physics scenarios, information on our event selection, detector response, and ef…
A search for new physics is performed in events with two same-sign isolated leptons, hadronic jets, and missing transverse energy in the final state. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 inverse femtobarns produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. This constitutes a factor of 140 increase in integrated luminosity over previously published results. The observed yields agree with the standard model predictions and thus no evidence for new physics is found. The observations are used…
We consider the process $p p \to t {\bar t} H$. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. The signatures can have electrons, muons and jets. We consider the signatures that have two electrons/muons and jets. Tagging of a tau jet and a bottom jet can help reduce the backgrounds significantly. In particular, we examine the usefulness of the signatures "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + a tau jet", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 tau jets", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 bottom jets + a tau jet", and "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + 2 tau jets". We f…

Results are based on a 4.98 inverse femtobarn sample of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV collected by the CMS detector. No excess above the standard model background is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the number of events from non-standard-model sources. These limits are used to set constraints on a number of new physics models. Information on acceptance and efficiencies are also provided so that the results can be use…
The results of a search for new physics in events with two opposite-sign isolated electrons or muons, hadronic activity, and missing transverse energy in the final state are presented. The results are based on analysis of a data sample with a corresponding integrated luminosity of 0.98 fb-1 produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. No evidence for an event yield beyond Standard-Model expectations is found, and constraints on supersymmetric models are deduced from these observations.
A search is presented for physics beyond the standard model (SM) in final states with opposite-sign isolated lepton pairs accompanied by hadronic jets and missing transverse energy. The search is performed using LHC data recorded with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 inverse picobarns. No evidence for an event yield beyond SM expectations is found. An upper limit on the non-SM contribution to the signal region is deduced from the results. This limit is interpreted in the context of the constrained minimal supersymmetric model. Additional information is provided…

No excess above the standard model background is observed. Upper limits are set on the number of events from non-standard-model sources and are used to constrain a number of new physics models. Information on acceptance and efficiencies is also provided so that …
We present a search for associated Higgs boson production in the process pbar -> W/ZH -> l\pml'\pm + X in ee, eμ, and μμ final states. The search is based on data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV corresponding to 5.3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. We require two isolated leptons (electrons or muons) with the same electric charge and additional kinematic requirements. No significant excess above background is observed, and we set 95% C.L. observed (expected) upper limits on ratio of the production cross section to the standard model expectat…
This paper reports a measurement of the cross section for the pair production of top quarks in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The data was collected from the CDF II detector in a set of runs with a total integrated luminosity of 1.1 fb^{-1}. The cross section is measured in the dilepton channel, the subset of ttbar events in which both top quarks decay through t -> Wb -> l nu b where l = e, mu, or tau. The lepton pair is reconstructed as one identified electron or muon and one isolated track. The use of an isolated track to identify the second lepton increases…
We present a measurement of the top quark mass with t-tbar dilepton events produced in p-pbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV and collected by the CDF II detector. A sample of 328 events with a charged electron or muon and an isolated track, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 fb$^{-1}$, are selected as t-tbar candidates. To account for the unconstrained event kinematics, we scan over the phase space of the azimuthal angles ($ϕ_{ν_1},ϕ_{ν_2}$) of neutrinos and reconstruct the top quark mass for each $ϕ_{ν_1},ϕ_{ν_2}$ pair by minimizing a $χ^2$ function in t…
An inclusive search is presented for new physics in events with two isolated leptons (electron or muon) having the same electric charge. The data are selected from events collected from pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV by the ATLAS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 34 inverse picobarns. The spectra in dilepton invariant mass, missing transverse momentum and jet multiplicity are presented and compared to Standard Model predictions. In this event sample, no evidence is found for contributions beyond those of the Standard Model. Limits are set on the cross-section in a fiduci…
An inclusive search for the non-Standard Model production of two isolated leptons of the same electrical charge is presented. The search was performed with 2010 collision data in the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider for ee, eμ, and μμ channels. With 34 pb-1 of integrated luminosity, no disagreement with the Standard Model prediction was found, and limits on the fiducial cross section for generic same-sign production as well as four model-dependent limits for models of new physics were set. An updated same sign analysis with 1.6 fb-1 is underway and nearly complete for the μμ channel…
In this paper, a search for supersymmetry (SUSY) is presented in events with two opposite-sign isolated leptons in the final state, accompanied by hadronic jets and missing transverse energy. An artificial neural network is employed to discriminate possible SUSY signals from a standard model background. The analysis uses a data sample collected with the CMS detector during the 2011 LHC run, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collisions at the center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Compared to other CMS analyses, this one uses relaxed criteria on miss…
Measurements of top quark spin observables in $t\bar{t}$ events are presented based on 20.2 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The analysis is performed in the dilepton final state, characterised by the presence of two isolated leptons (electrons or muons). There are 15 observables, each sensitive to a different coefficient of the spin density matrix of $t\bar{t}$ production, which are measured independently. Ten of these observables are measured for the first time. All of them are corrected for detector resolution and acceptan…
A search for four-top-quark production, $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$, is presented. It is based on proton-proton collision data with a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider during the year 2015 and 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $36.1$ fb$^{-1}$. Data are analyzed in both the single-lepton and opposite-sign dilepton channels, characterized by the presence of one or two isolated electrons or muons with high-transverse momentum and multiple jets. A data-driven method is used to estimate the dominant background from top-qu…
A search for new physics is performed based on events with jets and a pair of isolated, same-sign leptons. The results are obtained using a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse femtobarns. In order to be sensitive to a wide variety of possible signals beyond the standard model, multiple search regions defined by the missing transverse energy, the hadronic energy, the number of jets and b-quark jets, and the transverse momenta of the leptons in the events a…
We propose a like-sign dilepton search for chargino-neutralino production in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV, which complements the previously published trilepton search by the CDF detector using Fermilab Run I data. Monte Carlo predictions for the signal and background efficiencies indicate a significant increase in sensitivity to chargino-neutralino production compared to the traditional trilepton analysis alone.
A search for doubly-charged Higgs bosons decaying to pairs of electrons and/or muons is presented. The search is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb-1 of pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Pairs of prompt, isolated, high-pT leptons with the same electric charge (ee, emu, mumu) are selected, and their invariant mass distribution is searched for a narrow resonance. No significant excess over Standard Model background expectations is observed, and limits are placed on the cross section times branching ratio fo…
We present a search for new physics in events with two high $p_T$ leptons of the same electric charge, using data with an integrated luminosity of 6.1 fb$^{-1}$. The observed data are consistent with standard model predictions. We set 95% C.L. lower limits on the mass of doubly-charged scalars decaying to like-sign dileptons, $m_{H^{\pm\pm}}> 190-245$ GeV/$c^2$, depending on the decay mode and coupling.
A search for new physics in top quark production is performed in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected in 2016 with the CMS detector. Events with two opposite-sign isolated leptons (electrons or muons), and b quark jets in the final state are selected. The search is sensitive to new physics in top quark pair production and in single top quark production in association with a W boson. No significant deviation from the standard model expectation is observed. Results are interpreted in the framework of effective field …
We report a measurement of the charge asymmetry for same-sign dileptons in $B^0$-$\bar{B}^0$ mixing, $A_{\rm sl}$. The data were collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. Using a data sample of 78 fb$^{-1}$ recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and 9 fb$^{-1}$ recorded at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance, we measure $A_{\rm sl} = (-1.1 \pm 7.9(\text{stat}) \pm 7.0(\text{sys}))\times 10^{-3}$.
A combined search for standard model four-top-quark production in the single lepton plus jets and dilepton channels will be presented. The analysis utilises the 2015 dataset recorded by the CMS experiment at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.6 fb-1. A scheme based on a boosted decision tree algorithm is used to select signal and suppress backgrounds. An upper limit on the cross section of four-top-quark production will be presented.
We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B^0 B^0-bar meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a_ll = [N(l+l+) - N(l-l-)]/[N(l+l+) + N[l-l-)] = +0.013 +/- 0.050 +/- 0.005 . We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon_B)/(1+|epsilon_B|^2) = +0.0035 +/- 0.0103 +/- 0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon_B.
Within the mSUGRA model, the observability of the decay of the next to lightest neutralino into leptons and the lightest neutralino has been studied using a full simulation of the CMS detector. The final state signature consists of two opposite sign leptons, several hard jets and missing transverse energy. The expected precision of the measurement of the dilepton mass edge is reported for 1 fb^-1 of data, including systematic and statistic uncertainties, comparing two benchmark points with different signatures.
An inclusive search for anomalous production of two prompt, isolated leptons with the same electric charge is presented. The search is performed in a data sample corresponding to 4.7 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected in 2011 at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Pairs of leptons (ee, emu, and mumu) with large transverse momentum are selected, and the dilepton invariant mass distribution is examined for any deviation from the Standard Model expectation. No excess is found, and upper limits on the production cross section of like-sign lepton pairs from physics processes be…
We present a search for chargino and neutralino supersymmetric particles yielding same signed dilepton final states including one hadronically decaying tau lepton using 6.0 $fb^{-1}$ of data collected by the the CDF II detector. This signature is important in SUSY models where, at high $\tanβ$, the branching ratio of charginos and neutralinos to tau leptons becomes dominant. We study event acceptance, lepton identification cuts, and efficiencies. We set limits on the production cross section as a function of SUSY particle mass for certain generic models.
We present results of the first search for like-sign dilepton (ee, eμ, μμ) events associated with multijets and large missing energy using 106 pb^-1 of data in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV collected during 1992-95 by the CDF experiment. Finding no events that pass our selection, we examine pair-production of gluinos and squarks in a constrained framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. At tan_beta = 2 and μ=-800 GeV/c^2, we set 95% confidence level limits of M(gluino) > 221 GeV/c^2 for M(gluino) \simeq M(squark), and M(gluino) > 168 GeV/c^2 for M(squark) \gg M(gluino), bo…
We report results of a search for CPT and Lorentz violation in B0-B0bar oscillations using inclusive dilepton events from 232 million Y(4S) --> BBbar decays recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory at SLAC. We find 2.8sigma significance, compatible with no signal, for variations in the complex CPT violation parameter z at the Earth's sidereal frequency and extract values for the quantities Δ(a_μ) in the general Lorentz-violating standard-model extension. The spectral powers for variations in z over the frequency range 0.26/year to 2.1/day are also compatible with no signal.
We report a determination of the B0d - B0d-bar mixing parameter Delta-m_d based on the time evolution of dilepton yields in Upsilon(4S) decays. The measurement is based on a 5.9 /fb data sample collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The proper-time difference distributions for same-sign and opposite-sign dilepton events are simultaneously fitted to an expression containing Delta-m_d as a free parameter. Using both muons and electrons, we obtain Delta-m_d = 0.463 +- 0.008(stat.) +- 0.016(sys.) ps^{-1} This is the first determination of Delta-m_d from time evolution measurements at the Upsilon…
Searches for direct electroweak production of charginos and neutralinos in signatures with two light leptons of the same charge and with three or more leptons including up to two hadronically decaying τ leptons are presented . The full 2016 dataset of pp collisions recorded by CMS at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 /fb. The observed event rates are in agreement with expectations from the standard model. These results probe charginos and neutralinos with masses up to values between 225 and 1150 GeV, depending on the model parameters a…
A search for non-resonant new phenomena, originating from either contact interactions or large extra spatial dimensions, has been carried out using events with two isolated electrons or muons. These events, produced at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, were recorded by the ATLAS detector. The data sample, collected throughout 2011, corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 and 5.0 fb-1 in the e+e- and mu+mu- channels, respectively. No significant deviations from the Standard Model expectation are observed. Using a Bayesian approach, 95% confidence limit lower limits …
We report a measurement of the charge asymmetry for same-sign dileptons in $B^0$-$\bar B^0$ mixing. The data were collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. Using a data sample of 78 fb^{-1} recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and 9 fb^{-1} recorded at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance, we measure $\Asl = (-0.13 \pm 0.60(\text{stat}) \pm 0.56(\text{sys}))%$.
We report on a search for anomalous kinematics of ttbar dilepton events in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV using 193 {pb}^{-1} of data collected with the CDF II detector. We developed a new a priori technique designed to isolate the subset in a data sample revealing the largest deviation from standard model (SM) expectations and to quantify the significance of this departure. In the four-variable space considered, no particular subset shows a significant discrepancy and we find that the probability of obtaining a data sample less consistent with the SM than what is observed is 1.0-4.5%.
We report a study of T and CP violation in $B^0$-$\bar B^0$ mixing using an inclusive dilepton sample collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II $B$ Factory. The asymmetry between $\ell^+\ell^+$ and $\ell^-\ell^-$ allows us to compare the probabilities for $\bar B^0 \to B^0$ and $B^0 \to \bar B^0$ oscillations and thus probe T and CP invariance. A sample of 20,381 same-sign dilepton events is selected in the 1999--2000 data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb$^{-1}$ on the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We measure a same-sign dilepton asymmetry of $A_T=(0.5\pm 1.2\pm 1.4)%$; …
A search for the production of heavy partners of the top quark with charge 5/3 is performed in events with a pair of same-sign leptons. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse femtobarns and was collected at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV by the CMS experiment. No significant excess is observed in the data above the expected background and the existence of top-quark partners with masses below 800 GeV is excluded at a 95% confidence level, assuming they decay exclusively to tW. This is the first limit on these particles from the LHC, and it is significantly more restrictive tha…
A search for new physics is performed using events with two isolated same-sign leptons, two or more jets, and missing transverse momentum. The results are based on a sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 inverse femtobarns. Multiple search regions are defined by classifying events in terms of missing transverse momentum, the scalar sum of jet transverse momenta, the transverse mass associated with a W boson candidate, the number of jets, the number of b quark jets, and …
We describe a search for anomalous production of events with two leptons ($e$ or $μ$) of the same electric charge in \ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. Many extensions to the standard model predict the production of two leptons of the same electric charge. This search has a significant increase in sensitivity compared to earlier searches. Using a data sample corresponding to 1 \invfb of integrated luminosity recorded by the CDF II detector, we observe no significant excess in an inclusive selection (expect $33.2\pm4.7$ events, observe 44) or in a SUSY-optimized selection…
We report the results of a search for T, CP and CPT violation in B0-B0bar mixing using an inclusive dilepton sample collected by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II B Factory. Using a sample of 232 million BBbar pairs, with a simultaneous likelihood fit of the same-sign and opposite-sign dileptons, we measure the T and CP violation parameter |q/p|-1 = (-0.8 +/- 2.7(stat.) +/- 1.9(syst.))e-03, and the CPT and CP parameters Im(z) = (-13.9 +/- 7.3 (stat.) +/- 3.2(syst.))e-03 and DeltaGamma x Re(z) = (-7.1 +/- 3.9(stat.) +/- 2.0(syst.))e-03 ps^{-1}. The statistical correlation between the measureme…
We present the results of a search for doubly-charged Higgs bosons (H+/-+/-) decaying to dileptons using ~240/pb of ppbar collision data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. In our search region, given by same-sign dilepton mass m_ll' > 80 GeV/c^2 (100 GeV/c^2 for dielectron channel), we observe no evidence for doubly-charged Higgs production. We set limits on sigma (ppbar --> H++H-- --> l+l+l-l-) as a function of the mass of the doubly-charged Higgs boson and the chirality of its couplings. Assuming exclusive same-sign dilepton decays, we derive lower mass limits on H+…
A search for new physics with non-resonant signals in dielectron and dimuon final states in the mass range above 2 TeV is presented. This is the first search for non-resonant signals in dilepton final states at the LHC to use a background estimate from the data. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$, were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The benchmark signal signature is a two-quark and two-lepton contact interaction, which would enhance the di…
We present a search for a kinematic edge in the invariant mass distribution of two opposite-sign same-flavor leptons, in final states with jets and missing transverse energy. The analysis makes use of $19.4$ fb$^{-1}$ proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV. The data have been recorded with the CMS experiment. Complementary methods have been used for the background estimation, which when combined achieve a total uncertainty of $5\%$ ($10\%$) for leptons in the central (forward) rapidity of the detector. We do not observe a statistically significant signal and the results are consist…
A search is presented for exotic processes that result in final states containing jets including at least one b jet, sizable missing transverse momentum, and a pair of leptons with the same electric charge. Using a sample of 14.3 fb^-1 of pp collisions at sqrt(s) =8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, no significant excess of events over the background expectation is observed. This observation is interpreted as constraining several signal hypotheses beyond the Standard Model and limits are set at 95% confidence level on relevant parameters of the signal hypotheses.
Several theories beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of new heavy neutral bosons. Such particles could be produced in significant amounts at the LHC and their decay into a dilepton pair provides a clean signature with low background contamination. The results of the analysis of the whole 2012 dataset collected by the CMS experiment at a center of mass energy of 8 TeV are presented. No evidence for new physics is seen and upper limits on the cross section production of such particles are extracted. These results can be turned into lower limits on the mass of the heavy bosons, reachi…
A search is presented for physics beyond the standard model (BSM) in final states with a pair of opposite-sign isolated leptons accompanied by jets and missing transverse energy. The search uses LHC data recorded at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 5 inverse femtobarns. Two complementary search strategies are employed. The first probes models with a specific dilepton production mechanism that leads to a characteristic kinematic edge in the dilepton mass distribution. The second strategy probes models of di…
A preliminary study of time dependence of B^0-anti-B^0 oscillations using dilepton events is presented. The flavor of the B meson is determined by the charge sign of the lepton. To separate signal leptons from cascade and fake leptons we have used a method which combines several discriminating variables in a neural network. The time evolution of the oscillations is studied by reconstructing the time difference between the decays of the B mesons produced by the Y(4S) decay. With an integrated luminosity of 7.7 fb-1 collected on resonance by BABAR at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory, we measure t…
The $B^0$-$\bar B^0$ oscillation frequency has been measured with a sample of 23 million $\B\bar B$ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. In this sample, we select events in which both B mesons decay semileptonically and use the charge of the leptons to identify the flavor of each B meson. A simultaneous fit to the decay time difference distributions for opposite- and same-sign dilepton events gives $Δm_d = 0.493 \pm 0.012{(stat)}\pm 0.009{(syst)}$ ps$^{-1}$.
We report on a search for supersymmetry using the DØdetector. The 1994-1996 data sample of $\sqrt{s}=1.8$ TeV $p\bar{p}$ collisions was analyzed for events containing two leptons ($e$ or $μ$), two or more jets, and missing transverse energy. Assuming the minimal supergravity model, with $A_0=0$ and $μ<0$, various thresholds were employed to optimize the search. No events were found beyond expectation from background. We set a lower limit at the 95% C.L. of 255 GeV/$c^2$ for equal mass squarks and gluinos for $\tanβ=2$, and present exclusion contours in the $(m_0,m_{1/2})$ plane for $\tanβ=2$--…
We report the results of a search for T and CP violation in B0-anti-B0 mixing using an inclusive dilepton sample collected by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II B Factory. The asymmetry between (l+,l+) and (l-,l-) events allows us to compare the probabilities P(anti-B0 -> B0) and P(B0 -> anti-B0) oscillations and thus probe T and CP invariance. Using a sample of 23 million B-anti-B pairs, we measure a same-sign dilepton asymmetry of A_(T/CP)=(0.5 +- 1.2(stat) +- 1.4(syst))%. For the modulus of the ratio of complex mixing parameters p and q, we obtain |q/p| = 0.998 +- 0.006(stat) +- 0.007(syst)…
Two searches for new phenomena in final states containing a same-flavour opposite-lepton (electron or muon) pair, jets, and large missing transverse momentum are presented. These searches make use of proton--proton collision data, collected during 2015 and 2016 at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, which correspond to an integrated luminosity of 14.7 fb$^{-1}$. Both searches target the pair production of supersymmetric particles, squarks or gluinos, which decay to final states containing a same-flavour opposite-sign lepton pair via one…
We report a precise determination of the B0-B0bar mixing parameter Delta-m_d based on the time evolution of same-sign and opposite-sign dilepton yields in Upsilon(4S) decays. Data were collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. Using data samples of 29.4 1/fb recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance and 3.0 1/fb recorded at an energy 60MeV below the resonance, we measure Delta m_d = (0.503 +- 0.008(stat) +- 0.010(sys)) 1/ps. From the same analysis, we also measure the ratio of charged and neutral B meson production at the Upsilon(4S), f+/f0 = 1.01 +- 0.03(stat) +- 0.09(sys), and CPT violation par…
A search for the standard model production of four top quarks (pp $\to$ $\mathrm{t\bar{t}t\bar{t}}$) is reported using single-lepton plus jets and opposite-sign dilepton plus jets signatures. Proton-proton collisions are recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.8 fb$^{-1}$. A multivariate analysis exploiting global event and jet properties is used to discriminate $\mathrm{t\bar{t}t\bar{t}}$ from $\mathrm{t\bar{t}}$ production. No significant deviation is observed from the predicted background. An …
Two searches for supersymmetric particles in final states containing a same-flavour opposite-sign lepton pair, jets and large missing transverse momentum are presented. The proton-proton collision data used in these searches were collected at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{-1}$. Two leptonic production mechanisms are considered: decays of squarks and gluinos with $Z$ bosons in the final state, resulting in a peak in the dilepton invariant mass distribution around the $Z$-boson …
A search for the pair production of heavy fermionic partners of the top quark with charge 5/3 (X$_{5/3}$) is performed in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The data sample analyzed corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$. The X$_{5/3}$ quark is assumed always to decay into a top quark and a W boson. Both the right-handed and left-handed X$_{5/3}$ couplings to the W boson are considered. Final states with either a pair of same-sign leptons or a single lepton are studied. No significant excess of events is obser…
We present a measurement of the asymmetry $A_{CP}$ between same-sign inclusive dilepton samples $\ell^+ \ell^+$ and $\ell^- \ell^-$ ($\ell= e, μ$) from semileptonic B decays in Y(4S) --> BBbar events, using the complete data set recorded by the BABAR experiment near the Y(4S) resonance, corresponding to 471 million BBbar pairs. The asymmetry A_{CP} allows comparison between the mixing probabilities P(B0bar --> B0) and P(B0 --> B0bar), and therefore probes CP and T violation. The result, $A_{CP} = (-3.9 \pm 3.5 (stat) \pm 1.9 (syst)) \times 10^{-3}$, is consistent with the Standard Model expect…
A search is conducted for both resonant and non-resonant high-mass new phenomena in dielectron and dimuon final states. The search uses 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data, collected at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015. The dilepton invariant mass is used as the discriminating variable. No significant deviation from the Standard Model prediction is observed; therefore limits are set on the signal model parameters of interest at 95% credibility level. Upper limits are set on the cross-section times branching ratio for resonances decaying to dileptons, and…
We introduce new observables for the study of the inclusive same sign dileptons production at LHC which are built out of ratios of the observed number of same-sign dileptons, both with same $N(\ell,\ell)$ and different flavor $N(\ell,\ell')$. As a case study we apply them to the stau coannihilation region of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model. We show that the new variables depend rather mildly on the center of mass energy and how these can be used to constraint the parameter space in the $(m_{1/2},\tanβ)$ plane.
Within the 3-3-1 model framework, we consider the production and decay of fermionic leptoquarks into a striking experimental signature at the LHC: a narrow resonance at the $b$ jet plus same-sign dileptons channel. The data already accumulated by the LHC collaborations may hide a large number of events associated to the production and decay of such exotic quarks, allowing one to investigate large portions of the parameters space of the model. The observation or not of such events would shed light on the construction of models presenting heavy exotic quarks.
We show that new physics, either from CPT violation in B^0-\bar{B}^0 mixing or from ΔB = -ΔQ transitions, may lead to an opposite-sign dilepton asymmetry of neutral B-meson decays. Both effects have the same time-dependent behavior and therefore are in general indistinguishable from each other. We also clarify some ambiguity associated with the constraint on CPT violation in semileptonic decays of incoherent B^0 and \bar{B}^0 mesons.
Events with isolated leptons play a prominent role in signatures of new physics phenomena at high energy collider physics facilities. In earlier publications, we examine the standard model contribution to isolated lepton production from bottom and charm mesons and baryons through their semileptonic decays (b, c -> l + X), showing that this source can overwhelm the effects of other standard model processes in some kinematic domains. In this paper, we show that we obtain good agreement with recent Tevatron collider data, both validating our simulations and showing that we underestimate the magni…
