We use reduced fidelity approach to characterize quantum phase transitions in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 dimerized Heisenberg chain in the antiferromagnetic case. The reduced fidelity susceptibilities between two nearest-neighboring spin pairs are considered. We find that they are directly related to the square of the second derivative of the ground-state energy. This enables us to conclude that the former might be a more effective indicator of the second-order quantum phase transitions than the latter. Two further exemplifications are given to confirm the conclusion is available for a broad class of systems with SU(2) and translation symmetries. Moreover, a general connection between reduced fidelity susceptibility and quantum phase transitions is illustrated.
We study entanglement in dimerized Heisenberg systems. In particular, we give exact results of ground-state pairwise entanglement for the four-qubit model by identifying a Z_2 symmetry. Although the entanglements cannot identify the critical point of the system, the mean entanglement of nearest-neighbor qubits really does, namely, it reaches a maximum at the critical point.
The entanglement properties in an antiferromagnetic dimerized Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain are investigated. The entanglement gap, which is the difference between the ground-state energy and the minimal energy that any separable state can attain, is calculated to detect the entanglement. It is found that the entanglement gap can be increased by varying the alternation parameter. Through thermal energy, the witness of the entanglement can determine a characteristic temperature below that an entangled state can be obtained. The entanglement detected by the energy can provide a lower bound for that …
Quantum phase transition in dimerized antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chain has been studied. A staircase structure in the variation of concurrence within strongly coupled pairs with that of external magnetic field has been observed indicating multiple critical points. Emergence of entanglement due to external magnetic field or magnetic entanglement is observed for weakly coupled spin pairs in the same dimer chain. Though closed dimerized isotropic XXX Heisenberg chains with different dimer strengths were mainly explored, analogous studies on open chains as well as closed anisotropic (XX int…
We study the connection between topological order and degeneracy of the singular value spectrum by explicitly solving the two-dimensional dimerized quantum Heisenberg model in the form of tensor product state ansatz. Based on the ground state solution, we find non-zero topological entanglement entropy at the frustrated regime. It indicates a possible topological phase. Furthermore, we find that the singular value spectrum associated with each link in tensor product state is doubly degenerate only in this phase. Degeneracy of the singular value spectrum is robust against various types of pertur…
The nature of the exchange coupling variation in an antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 system can be used to tailor its ground-state properties. In particular, dimerized Heisenberg rings containing domain walls have localized states which can serve as "flying spin qubits" when the domain walls are moved. We show theoretically that, when two of these rings are coupled, the movement of the domain walls leads to modulation of the effective exchange interaction between the qubits. Appropriately chosen configurations of domain walls can give rise to ferromagnetic effective exchange. We describe how these s…
We present a method for encoding and transporting qubits within a dimerized Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain. Logical qubits are localized at the domain walls that separate the two possible dimerized states. The domain walls can be moved to produce "flying spin qubits". The topological nature of these states makes them stable against a wide class of perturbations. Pairs of domain walls can be used to generate Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen pairs of entangled qubits. We discuss speed limitations within an exactly solvable three-spin model and describe a possible physical realization using quantum dot arrays.
In this article, we study the high order term of the fidelity of the Heisenberg chain with next-nearest-neighbor interaction and analyze its connection with quantum phase transition of Beresinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless type happened in the system. We calculate the fidelity susceptibility of the system and find that although the phase transition point can't be well characterized by the fidelity susceptibility, it can be effectively picked out by the higher order of the ground-state fidelity for finite-size systems.
We study the two qubits Heisenberg XX chain with magnetic impurity in the presence of the external magnetic field and calculate the optimal fidelity of standard teleportation via the thermal equilibrium state. It is found that the combined influence of magnetic impurity and external magnetic field can increase the critical temperatures of entanglement and quantum teleportation without limit. The relation between two kinds of critical temperatures is revealed.
By using the method of density-matrix renormalization-group to solve the different spin-spin correlation functions, the nearest-neighbouring entanglement(NNE) and next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement(NNNE) of one-dimensional alternating Heisenberg XY spin chain is investigated in the presence of alternating nearest neighbour interactions of exchange couplings, external magnetic fields and next-nearest neighbouring interactions. For dimerized ferromagnetic spin chain, NNNE appears only above the critical dimerized interaction, meanwhile, the dimerized interaction effects quantum phase transit…
We study the optimal teleportation based on Bell measurements via the thermal states of a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX chain in the presence of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) anisotropic antisymmetric interaction and obtain the optimal unitary transformation. The explicit expressions of the output state and the teleportation fidelity are presented and compared with those of the standard protocol. It is shown that in this protocol the teleportation fidelity is always larger and unit fidelity is achieved at zero temperature. The DM interaction can enhance the teleportation fidelity at finite temperatures…
We study the entanglement spectrum of Heisenberg spin ladders of arbitrary spin length S in the perturbative regime of strong rung coupling. For isotropic spin coupling the the entanglement spectrum is, within first order perturbation theory, always proportional to the energy spectrum of the single chain with a proportionality factor being also independent of S. A more complicated situation arises for anisotropic ladders of higher spin S>=1 since here even the unperturbed ground state has a nontrivial entanglement spectrum. Finally we discuss related issues in dimerized spin chains.
The fidelity and entropy in an easy-axis antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin-1 chain are studied numerically. By using the method of density-matrix renormalization group, the effects of anisotropy on fidelity and entanglement entropy are investigated. Their relations with quantum phase transition are analyzed. It is found that the quantum phase transition from the Haldane spin liquid to Néel spin solid can be well characterized by the fidelity. The phase transition can be hardly detected by the entropy but it can be successfully detected by the first deviation of the entropy.
We find that quantum teleportation, using the thermally entangled state of two-qubit Heisenberg XX chain as a resource, with fidelity better than any classical communication protocol is possible. However, a thermal state with a greater amount of thermal entanglement does not necessarily yield better fidelity. It depends on the amount of mixing between the separable state and maximally entangled state in the spectra of the two-qubit Heisenberg XX model.
We study quantum communication through an anisotropic Heisenberg XY chain in a transverse magnetic field. We find that for some time $t$ and anisotropy parameter $γ$, one can transfer a state with a relatively high fidelity. In the strong-field regime, the anisotropy does not significantly affect the fidelity while in the weak-field regime the affect is quite pronounced. The most interesting case is the the intermediate regime where the oscillation of the fidelity with time is low and the high-fidelity peaks are relatively broad. This would, in principle, allow for quantum communication in rea…
The fidelity and entanglement entropy in an antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic alternating Heisenberg chain are investigated by using the method of density-matrix renormalization-group. The effect of anisotropy on fidelity and entanglement entropy are investigated. The relations between fidelity, entanglement entropy and quantum phase transition are analyzed. It is found that the quantum phase transition point can be well characterized by both the ground-state entropy and fidelity for large system.
The global-state fidelity cannot characterize those quantum phase transitions (QPTs) induced by continuous level crossing due to its collapse around each crossing point. In this paper, we take the isotropic Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model and the antiferromagnetic one-dimensional Heisenberg model as examples to show that the partial-state fidelity can signal such level-crossing QPTs. Extending to the thermodynamic limit we introduce the partial-state fidelity susceptibility and study its scaling behavior. The maximum of the partial-state fidelity susceptibility goes like $N$ for the LMG model…
The total quantum correlation (discord) in Heisenberg dimers is expressed via the spin-spin correlation function, internal energy, specific heat or magnetic susceptibility. This allows one to indirectly measure the discord through neutron scattering, as well as calorimetric or magnetometric experiments. Using the available experimental data, we found the discord for a number of binuclear Heisenberg substances with both antiferro- and ferromagnetic interactions. For the dimerized antiferromagnet copper nitrate Cu(NO_3)_2*2.5H_2O, the three independent experimental methods named above lead to a …
We study the dynamics of X-state for anisotropic Heisenberg spin system using quantum fidelity. It is shown that while Bell diagonal state, a special class of X-state, is stationary, there exists a set of two parametric states which are stationary in presence of external uniform magnetic field.
Thermal entanglement and teleportation properties in non-inertial frames are investigated when a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction is used as the quantum channel. We find that thermal entanglement and the teleportation fidelity of a teleported state decrease with the acceleration parameter or temperature, in other words, the quantum entanglement teleportation will degenerate in non-inertial frames. Furthermore, our results also show that the average fidelity may be promoted by DM interaction for the ferromagnetic case, which is opposite to the antiferrom…
In this article, we consider the heterodinuclear complex [Ni(dpt)(H2O)Cu(pba)].2H2O [pba =1,3-propylenebis(oxamato) and dpt = bis-(3-aminopropyl)amine] realized through the theoretical model of mixed spin-(1/2,1) coupled via Heisenberg interaction. We study the behaviors of thermal quantum correlations of the above material via Measurement-Induced Nonlocality (MIN) based on Hilbert-Schmidt norm and fidelity. We observe that the quantum correlation measures increase with the magnetic field in an unconventional way. The role of system parameters is also brought out at thermal equilibrium. The hi…
By using the infinite time-evolving block decimation, we study quantum fidelity and entanglement entropy in the spin-1/2 Heisenberg alternating chain under an external magnetic field. The effects of the magnetic field on the fidelity are investigated, and its relation with the quantum phase transition (QPT) is analyzed. The phase diagram of the model is given accordingly, which supports the Haldane phase, the singlet-dimer phase, the Luttinger liquid phase and the paramagnetic phase. The scaling of entanglement entropy in the gapless Luttinger liquid phase is studied, and the central charge c …
Quantum correlation of bipartite states (beyond entanglement) in presence of environment is studied for Heisenberg XYZ spin system. It is shown that if the system is allowed to exchange energy with environment, the initial state evolves and settles down to uncorrelated state in asymptotic limit. We have also demonstrated that fidelity based measurement induced non-locality is a useful quantity in characterizing correlated quantum states.
We present a detailed study of the fidelity, the entanglement entropy, and the entanglement spectrum, for a dimerized chain of spinless fermions---a simplified Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model---with open boundary conditions which is a well-known example for a model supporting a symmetry protected topological (SPT) phase. In the non-interacting case the Hamiltonian matrix is tridiagonal and the eigenvalues and -vectors can be given explicitly as a function of a single parameter which is known analytically for odd chain lengths and can be determined numerically in the even length case. From a s…
We study quantum teleportation via a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ chain under an inhomogeneous magnetic field. We first consider entanglement teleportation, and then focus on the teleportation fidelity under different conditions. The effects of anisotropy and the magnetic field, both uniform and inhomogeneous, are discussed. We also find that, though entanglement teleportation does require an entangled quantum channel, a nonzero critical value of minimum entanglement is not always necessary.
Quantum-optical techniques allow for generating controllable spin-spin interactions between ions, making trapped ions an ideal quantum simulator of Heisenberg chains. A single parameter, the detuning of the Raman coupling, allows to switch between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic chains, and to modify the range of the interactions. On the antiferromagnetic side, the system can be tuned from an extreme long-range limit, in which any pair of ions interacts with almost equal strength, to interactions with a $1/r^3$ decay. By exact diagonalization, we study how a system of up to 20 ions behaves…
The quantum teleportation plays an important role in quantum information process, in this sense, the quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure is quite remarkable because real materials could be well represented by an infinite chain. We study the teleportation of an entangled state through a couple of quantum channels, composed by Heisenberg dimers in an infinite Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain, the couple of chains are considered sufciently far away from each other to be ignored the any interaction between them . To teleporting a couple of qubits through the quantum…
Entanglement of the ground states in $XXZ$ and dimerized Heisenberg spin chains as well as in a two-leg spin ladder is analyzed by using the spin-spin concurrence and the entanglement entropy between a selected sublattice of spins and the rest of the system. In particular, we reveal that quantum phase transition points/boundaries may be identified based on the analysis on the local extreme of this entanglement entropy, which is illustrated to be superior over the concurrence scenario and may enable us to explore quantum phase transitions in many other systems including higher dimensional ones.
We introduce the operator fidelity and propose to use its susceptibility for characterizing the sensitivity of quantum systems to perturbations. Two typical models are addressed: one is the transverse Ising model exhibiting a quantum phase transition, and the other is the one dimensional Heisenberg spin chain with next-nearest-neighbor interactions, which has the degeneracy. It is revealed that the operator fidelity susceptibility is a good indicator of quantum criticality regardless of the system degeneracy.
Correct swap action can be realized via the control of the anisotropic Heisenberg interaction in solid-state quantum systems. The conditions of performing a swap are derived by the dynamics of arbitrary bipartite pure state. It is found that swap errors can be eliminated in the presence of symmetric anisotropy. In realistic quantum computers with unavoidable fluctuations, the gate fidelity of swap action is estimated. The scheme of quantum computation via the anisotropic Heisenberg interaction is implemented in a one dimensional quantum dots. The slanting and static magnetic field can be used …
Enhancing fidelity in teleportation of a two-qubit state via a quantum communication channel formed by spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg trimer chains due to a magnetic field
We consider a two-chain, spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin ladder in an external magnetic field H. The spin ladder is known to undergo second order quantum phase transitions (QPTs) at two critical values, Hc1 and Hc2, of the magnetic field. There are now known examples of strongly coupled (rung exchange interaction much stronger than nearest-neighbour intrachain exchange interaction) organic ladder compounds in which QPTs have been experimentally observed. In this paper, we investigate whether well-known bipartite entanglement meaures like one-site von Neumann entropy, two-site von Ne…
We study the quantum phase transitions in the two-dimensional spin-orbit models in terms of fidelity susceptibility and reduced fidelity susceptibility. An order-to-order phase transition is identified by fidelity susceptibility in the two-dimensional Heisenberg XXZ model with Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction on a square lattice. The finite size scaling of fidelity susceptibility shows a power-law divergence at criticality, which indicates the quantum phase transition is of second order. Two distinct types of quantum phase transitions are witnessed by fidelity susceptibility in Kitaev-Heisenbe…
Spinor Bose condensates loaded in optical lattices have a rich phase diagram characterized by different magnetic order. Here we apply the Density Matrix Renormalization Group to accurately determine the phase diagram for spin-1 bosons loaded on a one-dimensional lattice. The Mott lobes present an even or odd asymmetry associated to the boson filling. We show that for odd fillings the insulating phase is always in a dimerized state. The results obtained in this work are also relevant for the determination of the ground state phase diagram of the S=1 Heisenberg model with biquadratic interaction…
We address the question whether the super-Heisenberg scaling for quantum estimation is realizable. We unify the results of two approaches. In the first one, the original system is compared with its copy rotated by the parameter dependent dynamics. If the parameter is coupled to the one-body part of the Hamiltonian the precision of its estimation is known to scale at most as $N^{-1}$ (Heisenberg scaling) in terms of the number of elementary subsystems used, $N$. The second approach considers fidelity at criticality often leading to an apparent super-Heisenberg scaling. However, scaling of time …
