We propose a method to extend submanifolds, singular Riemannian foliations and isometric actions from a boundary component of a noncompact symmetric space to the whole space. This extension method preserves minimal submanifolds, isoparametric foliations and polar actions, among other properties. One of the several applications yields the first examples of inhomogeneous isoparametric hypersurfaces in noncompact symmetric spaces of rank at least two.

We study isometric actions on Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type which are induced by reductive algebraic subgroups of the isometry group. We show that for such an action there exists a corresponding isometric action on a dual compact symmetric space, which reflects many properties of the original action. This thesis is concerned with equidistant foliations of Euclidean space, i.e. partitions into complete, connected, properly embedded smooth submanifolds. The space of leaves is an Alexandrov space of nonnegative curvature and the canonical projection is a submetry. Generalizing a result of Gromoll and Walschap we show that an equidistant foliation always has an affine leaf and we prove homogeneneity of the foliation under certain additional assumptions. Moreover, we give several reducibility results and construct new (noncompact) inhomogeneous examples of equidistant foliations.
In this work, we study the geometric properties of spacelike foliations by hypersurfaces on a Lorentz manifold. We investigate conditions for the leaves being stable, totally geodesic or totally umbilical. We consider that $\overline{M}^{n+1}$ is equipped with a timelike closed conformal vector field $ξ$. In this paper, we investigate subelliptic harmonic maps with potential from noncompact complete sub-Riemannian manifolds corresponding to totally geodesic Riemannian foliations. Under some suitable conditions, we give the gradient estimates of these maps and establish a Liouville type result.

Let G be a simple Lie group of real rank one, and S the ideal boundary of the corresponding symmetric space of noncompact type (H^n_R, H^n_C, H^n_H or H^2_O). We show the finiteness of the possible values of the secondary characteristic classes of transversely homogeneous foliations on a fixed manifold whose transverse structures are modeled on the G-action on S, except the case where G=SO(n+1,1) for even n.
