We consider the N-body Schrödinger dynamics of bosons in the mean field limit with a bounded pair-interaction potential. According to the previous work \cite{AmNi}, the mean field limit is translated into a semiclassical problem with a small parameter $ε\to 0$, after introducing an $ε$-dependent bosonic quantization. The limit is expressed as a push-forward by a nonlinear flow (e.g. Hartree) of the associated Wigner measures. These object and their basic properties were introduced in \cite{AmNi} in the infinite dimensional setting. The additional result presented here states that the transport by the nonlinear flow holds for rather general class of quantum states in their mean field limit.
Contrary to the finite dimensional case, Weyl and Wick quantizations are no more asymptotically equivalent in the infinite dimensional bosonic second quantization. Moreover neither the Weyl calculus defined for cylindrical symbols nor the Wick calculus defined for polynomials are preserved by the action of a nonlinear flow. Nevertheless taking advantage carefully of the information brought by these two calculuses in the mean field asymptotics, the propagation of Wigner measures for general states can be proved, extending to the infinite dimensional case a standard result of semiclassical analy…
We establish the difference between the propagation of semiclassical Wigner functions and classical Liouville propagation. First we re-discuss the semiclassical limit for the propagator of Wigner functions, which on its own leads to their classical propagation. Then, via stationary phase evaluation of the full integral evolution equation, using the semiclassical expressions of Wigner functions, we provide the correct geometrical prescription for their semiclassical propagation. This is determined by the classical trajectories of the tips of the chords defined by the initial semiclassical Wigne…
In this paper we present the generating function method for the derivation of bosons polynomials of Gel'fand basis and Wigner coefficients for the canonical basis of SU(n). We find a new analytic polynomial basis of SU(4) with the exact number of summations, five only. We find also a new algebraic expression of Wigner coefficient with multiplicity for the canonical basis and the isoscalors factors of SU (3) with only. three summations.
We consider a class of many-body Hamiltonians composed of a free (kinetic) part and a multi-particle (potential) interaction with a compactness assumption on the latter part. We investigate the mean field limit of such quantum systems following the Wigner measures approach. We prove the propagation of these measures along the flow of a nonlinear (Hartree) field equation. This enhances and complements some previous results in the subject.
The main objective of this paper is understanding the propagation laws obeyed by high-frequency limits of Wigner distributions associated to solutions to the Schroedinger equation on the standard d-dimensional torus T^{d}. From the point of view of semiclassical analysis, our setting corresponds to performing the semiclassical limit at times of order 1/h, as the characteristic wave-length h of the initial data tends to zero. It turns out that, in spite that for fixed h every Wigner distribution satisfies a Liouville equation, their limits are no longer uniquely determined by those of the Wigne…
Let $V_Γ$ be a lattice periodic potential and $A$ and $ϕ$ external electromagnetic potentials which vary slowly on the scale set by the lattice spacing. It is shown that the Wigner function of a solution of the Schroedinger equation with Hamiltonian operator $H = {1/2} (-\I\nabla_x - A(εx))^2 + V_Γ(x) + ϕ(εx)$ propagates along the flow of the semiclassical model of solid states physics up an error of order $ε$. If $ε$-dependent corrections to the flow are taken into account, the error is improved to order $ε^2$. We also discuss the propagation of the Wigner measure. The results are obtained as…
On the basis of our recent modifications of the Dirac formalism we generalize the Bargmann-Wigner formalism for higher spins to be compatible with other formalisms for bosons. Relations with dual electrodynamics, with the Ogievetskii-Polubarinov notoph and the Weinberg 2(2J+1) theory are found. Next, we introduce the dual analogues of the Riemann tensor and derive corresponding dynamical equations in the Minkowski space. Relations with the Marques-Spehler chiral gravity theory are discussed.
In this survey, our aim is to emphasize the main known limitations to the use of Wigner measures for Schrodinger equations. After a short review of successful applications of Wigner measures to study the semi-classical limit of solutions to Schrodinger equations, we list some examples where Wigner measures cannot be a good tool to describe high frequency limits. Typically, the Wigner measures may not capture effects which are not negligible at the pointwise level, or the propagation of Wigner measures may be an ill-posed problem. In the latter situation, two families of functions may have the …
This article proposes the construction of Wigner measures in the infinite dimensional bosonic quantum field theory, with applications to the derivation of the mean field dynamics. Once these asymptotic objects are well defined, it is shown how they can be used to make connections between different kinds of results or to prove new ones.
In this note we aim to characterize the cylindrical Wigner measures associated to regular quantum states in the Weyl C*-algebra of canonical commutation relations. In particular, we provide conditions at the quantum level sufficient to prove the concentration of all the corresponding cylindrical Wigner measures as Radon measures on suitable topological vector spaces. The analysis is motivated by variational and dynamical problems in the semiclassical study of bosonic quantum field theories.
Starting with the Wigner distribution formulation for beam wave propagation in Hölder continuous non-Gaussian random refractive index fields we show that the wave beam regime naturally leads to the white-noise scaling limit and converges to a Gaussian white-noise model which is characterized by the martingale problem associated to a stochastic differential-integral equation of the Itô type. In the simultaneous geometrical optics the convergence to the Gaussian white-noise model for the Liouville equation is also established if the ultraviolet cutoff or the Fresnel number vanishes sufficiently …
The mean-field approximations of many-boson dynamics are known to be effective in many physical relevant situations. The mathematical justifications of such approximations rely generally on specific considerations which depend too much on the model and on the initial states of the system which are required to be well-prepared. In this article, using the method of Wigner measures, we prove in a fairly complete generality the accuracy of the mean-field approximation. Roughly speaking, we show that the dynamics of a many-boson system are well approximated, in the limit of a large number of partic…
We consider the semiclassical limit of nonrelativistic quantum many-boson systems with delta potential in one dimensional space. We prove that time evolved coherent states behave semiclassically as squeezed states by a Bogoliubov time-dependent affine transformation. This allows us to obtain properties analogous to those proved by Hepp and Ginibre-Velo (\cite{Hep}, \cite{GiVe1,GiVe2}) and also to show propagation of chaos for Schrödinger dynamics in the mean field limit. Thus, we provide a derivation of the cubic NLS equation in one dimension.

We analyse the structure of semiclassical and microlocal Wigner measures for solutions to the linear Schrödinger equation on the disk, with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our approach links the propagation of singularities beyond geometric optics with the completely integrable nature of the billiard in the disk. We prove a "structure theorem", expressing the restriction of the Wigner measures on each invariant torus in terms of {\em second-microlocal measures}. They are obtained by performing a finer localization in phase space around each of these tori, at the limit of the uncertainty princip…
In this paper we study the semiclassical behavior of quantum states acting on the C*-algebra of canonical commutation relations, from a general perspective. The aim is to provide a unified and flexible approach to the semiclassical analysis of bosonic systems. We also give a detailed overview of possible applications of this approach to mathematical problems of both axiomatic relativistic quantum field theories and nonrelativistic many body systems. If the theory has infinitely many degrees of freedom, the set of Wigner measures, i.e. the classical counterpart of the set of quantum states, coi…
We study crystal dynamics in the harmonic approximation. The atomic masses are weakly disordered, in the sense that their deviation from uniformity is of order epsilon^(1/2). The dispersion relation is assumed to be a Morse function and to suppress crossed recollisions. We then prove that in the limit epsilon to 0 the disorder averaged Wigner function on the kinetic scale, time and space of order epsilon^(-1), is governed by a linear Boltzmann equation.
In this work we present the formal background used to develop the methods used in earlier works to extend the truncated Wigner representation of quantum and atom optics in order to address multi-time problems. The truncated Wigner representation has proven to be of great practical use, especially in the numerical study of the quantum dynamics of Bose condensed gases. In these cases, it allows for the simulation of effects which are missed entirely by other approximations, such as the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, but does not suffer from the severe instabilities of more exact methods. The numeric…
We consider an arbitrary square integrable function $F$ on the phase space and look for the Wigner function closest to it with respect to the $L^2$ norm. It is well known that the minimizing solution is the Wigner function of any eigenvector associated with the largest eigenvalue of the Hilbert-Schmidt operator with Weyl symbol $F$. We solve the particular case of radial functions on the two-dimensional phase space exactly. For more general cases, one has to solve an infinite dimensional eigenvalue problem. To avoid this difficulty, we consider a finite dimensional approximation and estimate t…
We consider trapped bosons with contact interactions as well as Coulomb repulsion or gravitational attraction in one spatial dimension. The exact ground state energy and wave function are identified in closed form together with a rich phase diagram, unveiled by Monte Carlo methods, with crossovers between different regimes. A trapped McGuire quantum soliton describes the attractive case. Weak repulsion results in an incompressible Laughlin-like fluid with flat density, well reproduced by a Gross-Pitaevskii equation with long-range interactions. Higher repulsion induces Friedel oscillation and …
