We consider a superintegrable Hamiltonian system in a two-dimensional space with a scalar potential that allows one quadratic and one cubic integral of motion. We construct the most general cubic algebra and we present specific realizations. We use them to calculate the energy spectrum. All classical and quantum superintegrable potentials separable in Cartesian coordinates with a third order integral are known. The general formalism is applied to quantum reducible and irreducible rational potentials separable in Cartesian coordinates in E2. We also discuss these potentials from the point of view of supersymmetric and PT-symmetric quantum mechanics.
We consider a superintegrable quantum potential in two-dimensional Euclidean space with a second and a third order integral of motion. The potential is written in terms of the fourth Painleve transcendent. We construct for this system a cubic algebra of integrals of motion. The algebra is realized in terms of parafermionic operators and we present Fock type representations which yield the corresponding energy spectra. We also discuss this potential from the point of view of higher order supersymmetric quantum mechanics and obtain ground state wave functions.
We analyze the integrability of the ${\cal N}$-extended supersymmetric Calogero-Moser model. We explicitly construct the Lax pair $\{L,A\}$ for this system, which properly reproduces all equations of motion. After adding a supersymmetric oscillator potential we reduce the latter to solving $\dot{U}\,{=}\,A\,U$ for the time evolution operator $U(t)$. The bosonic variables, however, evolve independently of $U$ on closed trajectories, as is required for superintegrability. To visualize the structure of the conserved currents we derive the complete set of Liouville charges up to the fifth power in…
We present a method to obtain higher order integrals and polynomial algebras for two-dimensional superintegrable systems from creation and annihilation operators. All potentials with a second and a third order integrals of motion separable in Cartesian coordinates were studied. The integrals of motion of two of them do not generate a cubic algebra. We construct for these Hamiltonians a higher order polynomial algebra from the creation and annihilation operators. We obtain quintic and seventh order polynomial algebras. We give also for polynomial algebras of order 7 realizations in terms of def…
We propose new superintegrable mechanical system on the complex projective space $\mathbb{CP}^N$ involving a potential term together with coupling to a constant magnetic fields. This system can be viewed as a $\mathbb{CP}^N$-analog of both the flat singular oscillator and its spherical analog known as "Rosochatius system". We find its constants of motion and calculate their (highly nonlinear) algebra. We also present its classical and quantum solutions. The system belongs to the class of "Kähler oscillators" admitting $SU(2|1)$ supersymmetric extension. We show that, in the absence of magnetic…
Many eigenvalue matrix models possess a peculiar basis of observables which have explicitly calculable averages. This explicit calculability is a stronger feature than ordinary integrability, just like the cases of quadratic and Coulomb potentials are distinguished among other central potentials, and we call it superintegrability. Aa a peculiarity of matrix models, the relevant basis is formed by the Schur polynomials (characters) and their generalizations, and superintegrability looks like a property $<character>\,\sim character$. This is already known to happen in the most important cases of…
In the case of a one-dimensional nonsingular Hamiltonian $H$ and a singular supersymmetric partner $H_a$, the Darboux and factorization relations of supersymmetric quantum mechanics can be only formal relations. It was shown how we can construct an adequate partner by using infinite barriers placed where are located the singularities on the real axis and recover isospectrality. This method was applied to superpartners of the harmonic oscillator with one singularity. In this paper, we apply this method to the singular isotonic oscillator with two singularities on the real axis. We also applied …
We derive a one-step extension of the well known Swanson oscillator that describes a specific type of pseudo-Hermitian quadratic Hamiltonian connected to an extended harmonic oscillator model. Our analysis is based on the use of the techniques of supersymmetric quantum mechanics and address various representations of the ladder operators starting from a seed solution of the harmonic oscillator given in terms of a pseudo-Hermite polynomial. The role of the resulting chain of Hamiltonians related via similarity transformation is then exploited. In the second part we write down a two dimensional …
The superposition of the Kepler-Coulomb potential on the 3D Euclidean space with three centrifugal terms has recently been shown to be maximally superintegrable [Verrier P E and Evans N W 2008 J. Math. Phys. 49 022902] by finding an additional (hidden) integral of motion which is quartic in the momenta. In this paper we present the generalization of this result to the ND spherical, hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces by making use of a unified symmetry approach that makes use of the curvature parameter. The resulting Hamiltonian, formed by the (curved) Kepler-Coulomb potential together with N cent…
Type III multi-step rationally-extended harmonic oscillator and radial harmonic oscillator potentials, characterized by a set of $k$ integers $m_1$, $m_2$, \ldots, $m_k$, such that $m_1 < m_2 < \cdots < m_k$ with $m_i$ even (resp.\ odd) for $i$ odd (resp.\ even), are considered. The state-adding and state-deleting approaches to these potentials in a supersymmetric quantum mechanical framework are combined to construct new ladder operators. The eigenstates of the Hamiltonians are shown to separate into $m_k+1$ infinite-dimensional unitary irreducible representations of the corresponding polynom…
We present an algebraic construction of the orthogonal eigenfunctions of the supersymmetric extension of the rational Calogero-Moser-Sutherland model with harmonic confinement. These eigenfunctions are the superspace extension of the generalized Hermite (or Hi-Jack) polynomials. The conserved quantities of the rational supersymmetric model are related to their trigonometric relatives through a similarity transformation. This leads to a simple expression between the corresponding eigenfunctions: the generalized Hermite superpolynomials are written as a differential operator acting on the corres…
We present a surprising redefinition of matrix fermions which brings the supercharges of the $\cal N$-extended supersymmetric $A_{n-1}$ Calogero model introduced in [1] to the standard form maximally cubic in the fermions. The complexity of the model is transferred to a non-canonical and nonlinear conjugation property of the fermions. Employing the new cubic supercharges, we apply a supersymmetric generalization of a "folding" procedure for $A_{2n-1}\oplus A_1$ to explicitly construct the supercharges and Hamiltonian for arbitrary even-$\cal N$ supersymmetric extensions of the $B_n$, $C_n$ and…
We construct rolling tachyon solutions of open and boundary string field theory (OSFT and BSFT, respectively), in the bosonic and supersymmetric (susy) case. The wildly oscillating solution of susy OSFT is recovered, together with a family of time-dependent BSFT solutions for the bosonic and susy string. These are parametrized by an arbitrary constant r involved in solving the Green equation of the target fields. When r=0 we recover previous results in BSFT, whereas for r attaining the value predicted by OSFT it is shown that the bosonic OSFT solution is the derivative of the boundary one; in …
We investigate $U(1)^{\,n}$ supersymmetric Born-Infeld Lagrangians with a second non-linearly realized supersymmetry. The resulting non-linear structure is more complex than the square root present in the standard Born-Infeld action, and nonetheless the quadratic constraints determining these models can be solved exactly in all cases containing three vector multiplets. The corresponding models are classified by cubic holomorphic prepotentials. Their symmetry structures are associated to projective cubic varieties.
We introduce a first order description of linearized non-minimal ($n=-1$) supergravity in superspace, using the unconstrained prepotential superfield instead of the conventionally constrained super one forms. In this description, after integrating out the connection-like auxiliary superfield of first-order formalism, the superspace action is expressed in terms of a single superfield which combines the prepotential and compensator superfields. We use this description to construct the supersymmetric cubic interaction vertex $3/2-3/2-1/2$ which describes the electromagnetic interaction between tw…
In the first part we present the Weyl algebra and our results concerning its finite-dimensional Lie subalgebras. The second part is devoted to a more exotic algebraic structure, the Lie algebra of order 3. We set the basis of a theory of deformations and contractions of these algebraic structures. We then concentrate on a particular such Lie algebra of order 3 which extends in a non-trivial way the Poincaré algebra, this extension being different of the supersymmetric extension. We then focus on the construction of a field theoretical model based on this algebra, the {\it cubic supersymmetry} …
As an extension of the intertwining operator idea, an algebraic method which provides a link between supersymmetric quantum mechanics and quantum (super)integrability is introduced. By realization of the method in two dimensions, two infinite families of superintegrable and isospectral stationary potentials are generated. The method makes it possible to perform Darboux transformations in such a way that, in addition to the isospectral property, they acquire the superintegrability preserving property. Symmetry generators are second and fourth order in derivatives and all potentials are isospect…
We study the superpotentials, quantum parameter space and phase transitions that arise in the study of large N dualities between $\mathcal{N}=1$ SUSY U(N) gauge theories and string models on local Calabi-Yau manifolds. The main tool of our analysis is a notion of spectral curve characterized by a set of complex partial 't Hooft parameters and cuts given by projections on the spectral curve of minimal supersymmetric cycles of the underlying Calabi-Yau manifold. In particular we show how prepotentials and superpotentials can be associated to spectral curves without relying on any holomorphic mat…
In these lectures we study some possible higher order (of degree greater than two) extensions of the Poincaré algebra. We first give some general properties of Lie superalgebras with some emphasis on the supersymmetric extension of the Poincaré algebra or Supersymmetry. Some general features on the so-called Wess-Zumino model (the simplest field theory invariant under Supersymmetry) are then given. We further introduce an additional algebraic structure called Lie algebras of order F, which naturally comprise the concepts of ordinary Lie algebras and superalgebras. This structure enables us to …
We construct two quantum spin chains Hamiltonians with quantum sl(2|1) invariance. These spin chains define variants of the Hubbard model and describe electron models with pair hoppings. A cubic algebra that admits the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami algebra as a quotient allows exact solvability of the periodic chain. The two Hamiltonians, respectively built using the distinguished and the fermionic bases of U_q(sl(2|1)) differ only in the boundary terms. They are actually equivalent, but the equivalence is non local. Reflection equations are solved to get exact solvability on open chains with non triv…
A way to construct and classify the three dimensional polynomially deformed algebras is given and the irreducible representations is presented. for the quadratic algebras 4 different algebras are obtained and for cubic algebras 12 different classes are constructed. Applications to quantum mechanical systems including supersymmetric quantum mechanics are discussed
The formalism of SUSYQM (SUperSYmmetric Quantum Mechanics) is properly modified in such a way to be suitable for the description and the solution of a classical maximally superintegrable Hamiltonian System, the so-called Taub-Nut system, associated with the Hamiltonian: $$ \mathcal{H}_η({\mathbf{q}}, {\mathbf{p}}) = \mathcal{T}_η({\mathbf{q}}, {\mathbf{p}}) + \mathcal{U}_η({\mathbf{q}}) = \frac{|{\mathbf{q}}| {\mathbf{p}}^2}{2m(η+ |{\mathbf{q}}|)} - \frac{k}{η+ |{\mathbf{q}}|} \quad (k>0, η>0) \, .$$ In full agreement with the results recently derived by A. Ballesteros et al. for the quantum c…
The Nicolai map is a field transformation that relates supersymmetric theories at finite couplings $g$ with the free theory at $g=0$. It is obtained via an ordered exponential of the coupling flow operator integrated from $0$ to $g$. Allowing multiple couplings, we find that the map in general depends on the chosen integration contour in coupling space. This induces a large functional freedom in the construction of the Nicolai map, which cancels in all correlator computations. Under a certain condition on the coupling flow operator the ambiguity disappears, and the power-series expansion for t…
We study a quantum mechanical potential introduced previously as a conditionally exactly solvable (CES) model. Besides an analysis following its original introduction in terms of the point canonical transformation, we also present an alternative supersymmetric construction of it. We demonstrate that from the three roots of the implicit cubic equation defining the bound-state energy eigenvalues, there is always only one that leads to a meaningful physical state. Finally we demonstrate that the present CES interaction is, in fact, an exactly solvable Natanzon-class potential.
