Exciting gauge field and gravitons in a brane-anti-brane annihilation

In this paper we point out the inevitability of an explosive production of gauge field and gravity wave during an open string tachyon condensation in a cosmological setting. We will be particularly studying an example of brane-anti-brane inflation in a warped throat where inflation ends via tachyon condensation. We point out that a tachyonic instability helps fragmenting the homogeneous tachyon and excites gauge field and contributes to the stress energy tensor which also feeds into the gravity waves.

Graviton production from D-string recombination and annihilation

Fundamental superstrings (F-strings) and D-strings may be produced at high temperature in the early Universe. Assuming that, we investigate if any of the instabilities present in systems of strings and branes can give rise to a phenomenologically interesting production of gravitons. We focus on D-strings and find that D-string recombination is a far too weak process for both astrophysical and cosmological sources. Self-Protection of Massive Cosmological Gravitons

Relevant deformations of gravity present an exciting window of opportunity to probe the rigidity of gravity on cosmological scales. For a single-graviton theory, the leading relevant deformation constitutes a graviton mass term. In this paper, we investigate the classical and quantum stability of massive cosmological gravitons on generic Friedman backgrounds. For a Universe expanding towards a de Sitter epoch, we find that massive cosmological gravitons are self-protected against unitarity violations by a strong coupling phenomenon.

Exciting LLM Geometries

We study excitations of LLM geometries. These geometries arise from the backreaction of a condensate of giant gravitons. Excitations of the condensed branes are open strings, which give rise to an emergent Yang-Mills theory at low energy. We study the dynamics of the planar limit of these emergent gauge theories, accumulating evidence that they are planar ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills. Black Hole Production from High Energy Scattering in AdS/CFT

In this article we show how to set up initial states in ${\cal N} =4$ SYM theory that correspond to high energy graviton collisions, leading to black hole formation in $AdS_5\times S^5$. For this purpose, we study states in the gauge theory that are dual to graviton wavepackets localized at the center of $AdS_5$, and carrying large angular momentum along the $S^5$. These states are created by exciting only the s-wave mode of one of the complex adjoint scalars of SYM. Brane/Flux Annihilation and the String Dual of a Non-Supersymmetric Field Theory

We consider the dynamics of p anti-D3 branes inside the Klebanov-Strassler geometry, the deformed conifold with M units of RR 3-form flux around the S^3. We find that for p<<M the system relaxes to a nonsupersymmetric NS 5-brane ``giant graviton'' configuration, which is classically stable, but quantum mechanically can tunnel to a nearby supersymmetric vacuum with M-p D3 branes. This decay mode is exponentially suppressed and proceeds via the nucleation of an NS 5-brane bubble wall. In order to go beyond the mean-field approximation, commonly used in the inflationary computations, an identification of the quantum constituents of the inflationary background is made. Towards the end of brane inflation, the brane pair annihilation produces massive closed strings. Is scale-invariance in gauge-Yukawa systems compatible with the graviton?

Recently, a new framework for solving the hierarchy problem has been proposed which does not rely on low energy supersymmetry or technicolor.
