Describing viable technicolor scenarios

We construct an effective lagrangian for new strong interactions at the LHC, including as a first step the two lightest triplets of spin-1 resonances. Our parametrization is general enough to allow for previously unstudied spectrum and couplings. Among available frameworks to describe the spin-1 sector, we rely on an extra-dimensional description. Our approach limits the number of parameters, yet is versatile enough to describe the phenomenology of a wide range of new scenarios of strong electroweak symmetry breaking.

A viable one-family technicolor model

We construct a one-family technicolor model which is consistent with the precision experiments on the electroweak interaction. The Majorana mass of the right-handed techni-neutrino is introduced and the techni-$U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry is gauged to obtain the correct breaking of the electroweak symmetry. The tree-level kinetic mixing between the techni-$U(1)_{B-L}$ and $U(1)_Y$ gauge bosons plays an important role for having the consistent value of the $S$ parameter.

Unnatural Origin of Fermion Masses for Technicolor

We explore the scenario in which the breaking of the electroweak symmetry is due to the simultaneous presence and interplay of a dynamical sector and an unnatural elementary Higgs. We introduce a low energy effective Lagrangian and constrain the various couplings via direct search limits and electroweak and flavor precision tests. We find that the model we study is a viable model of dynamical breaking of the electroweak symmetry.

Technicolor coupled models

When technicolor (TC), QCD, extended technicolor (ETC) and other interactions become coupled through their different Schwinger-Dyson equations, the solution of these equations are modified compared to those of the isolated equations. The change in the self-energies is similar to that obtained in the presence of four-fermion interactions, but without their ad hoc inclusion in the theory. Oblique Corrections in Technicolor with a Scalar

We study a model in which the electroweak symmetry is dynamically broken by technicolor interactions and the symmetry-breaking is communicated to the quarks and leptons by a weak doublet of scalar fields. The scalars may be regarded as elementary or as light bound states arising from strong extended technicolor interactions. This model is unusual in that it can provide a heavy top quark without generating large flavor-changing neutral currents. Technicolor with a Massless Scalar Doublet

We consider a minimal technicolor model in which the ordinary and technicolor sectors are coupled by a {\it massless} scalar doublet. When technicolor interactions become strong, the resulting technicolor condensate not only breaks the electroweak symmetry, but also causes the scalar to develop a vacuum expectation value. With the appropriate choice of the scalar's Yukawa couplings, fermion masses are generated, giving us the conventional pattern of flavor symmetry breaking. Combined Constraints on Holographic Bosonic Technicolor

We consider a model of strong electroweak symmetry breaking in which the expectation value of an additional, possibly composite, scalar field is responsible for the generation of fermion masses. The dynamics of the strongly coupled sector is defined and studied via its holographic dual, and does not correspond to a simple, scaled-up version of QCD. We consider the bounds from perturbative unitarity, the S parameter, and the mass of the Higgs-like scalar. Technicolor Walks at the LHC

We analyze the potential of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to observe signatures of phenomenologically viable Walking Technicolor models. We study and compare the Drell-Yan (DY) and Vector Boson Fusion (VBF) mechanisms for the production of composite heavy vectors. We find that the heavy vectors are most easily produced and detected via the DY processes. The composite Higgs phenomenology is also studied. If Technicolor walks at the LHC its footprints will be visible and our analysis will help uncovering them.

The Light Composite Higgs in Strong Extended Technicolor

This paper extends an earlier one describing the Higgs boson $H$ as a light composite scalar in a strong extended technicolor model of electroweak symmetry breaking. The Higgs mass $M_H$ is made much smaller than $Λ_{ETC}$ by tuning the ETC coupling very close to the critical value for electroweak symmetry breaking. The technicolor interaction, neglected in the earlier paper, is considered here. Constraining on dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking via R_b

New strong gauge interactions remain a viable source for the electroweak symmetry breaking. However, addressing the generation of fermion masses remains a challenge. A basic observable which provides stringent constraints on the flavor extensions of Technicolor-type models is the decay rate of the Z boson into a bbbar-pair. In this paper we provide a general framework to evaluate the resulting constraints on the technicolor theory level taking into account the contributions from the vector and axial vector mesons and discuss the consequences for phenomenology.

Conformal Window of Gauge Theories with Four-Fermion Interactions and Ideal Walking

We investigate the effects of four-fermion interactions on the phase diagram of strongly interacting theories for any representation as function of the number of colors and flavors. We show that the conformal window, for any representation, shrinks with respect to the case in which the four-fermion interactions are neglected. The anomalous dimension of the mass increases beyond the unity value at the lower boundary of the new conformal window. Looking for new charged states at the LHC: Signatures of Magnetic and Rayleigh Dark Matter

Magnetic and Rayleigh dark matter are models describing weak interactions of dark matter with electromagnetism through non-renormalizable operators of dimensions 5 and 7, respectively. Such operators motivate the existence of heavier states that couple to dark matter and are also charged under the electroweak interactions. The recent hints of a gamma-ray line in the Fermi data suggest that these states may be light enough to be produced at the LHC.
