We construct the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model which contains inflationary scenario and avoids the monopole puzzle. Based on the spontaneous symmetry breaking pattern (with three steps), the $F$-term inflation is derived. The slow-roll parameters $\ep$ and $η$ are calculated. By imposing as experimental five-year WMAP data on the spectral index $n$, we have derived a constraint on the number of e-folding $N_Q$ to be in the range from 25 to 50. The scenario for large-scale structure formation implied by the model is a mixed scenario for inflation and cosmic string, and the contribution to the CMBR temperature anisotropy depends on the ratio $\frac{M_X}{M_P}$. From the COBE data, we have obtained the constraint on the $M_X$ to be $M_X\in[1.22 \times 10^{16} - 0.98 \times 10^{17}]$ GeV. The upper value $M_X\simeq 10^{17}$ GeV is a result of the analysis in which the inflationary contribution to the temperature fluctuations measured by the COBE is 90%. The coupling $α$ varies in the range: $ 10^{-7} - 10^{-1} $. This value is not so small, and it is a common characteristics of the supersymmetric unified models with the inflationary scenario. The spectral index $n$ is a little bit smaller than 0.98. The SUGRA corrections are slightly different from the previous consideration. When $ξ\ll 1$ and $ \al $ lies in the above range, the spectral index gets the value consistent with the experimental five-year WMAP data. Comparing with string theory, one gets $ξ< 10^{-8}$. Numerical analysis shows that $ \al \approx 10^{-6}$. To get inflation contribution to the CMBR temperature anisotropy $\approx 90%$, the mass scale $M_X \sim 3.5 \times 10^{14}$ GeV.
Fermion superpartners - neutralinos and charginos in the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model are studied. By imposition R parity, their masses and eigenstates are derived. Assuming that Bino-like is dark matter, its mass density is calculated. The cosmological dark matter density gives a bound on mass of LSP neutralino in the range of 20 - 100 GeV, while the bound on mass of the lightest slepton is in the range of 60 - 130 GeV
In this work we show that the supersymmetric economical SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X (3-3-1) gauge model has a realistic candidate for self-interacting dark matter. In the model under consideration, the right-handed sneutrino is in bottom of the triplet, which is a singlet of the Standard Model SU(2)_L group. In addition, the right-handed sneutrino is the lightest slepton. By these properties, the right-handed sneutrino is weakly interacting with the Standard Model and stable without introduction of extra symmetry. From the Spergel-Steinhardt condition, the typical mass limit $\leq 10 $ MeV is d…
The supersymmetric extension of the economical 3-3-1 model is presented. The constraint equations and the gauge boson identification establish a relation between the vacuum expectation values (VEVs) at the top and bottom elements of the Higgs triplet $χ$ and its supersymmetric counterpart $χ^\prime$. Because of this relation, the exact diagonalization of neutral gauge boson sector has been performed. The gauge bosons and their associated Goldstone ones mix in the same way as in non-supersymmetric version. This is also correct in the case of gauginos. The eigenvalues and eigenstates in the Higg…
The R-symmetry formalism is applied for the supersymmetric economical SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X (3-3-1) model. The generalization of the minimal supersymmetric standard model relation among R-parity, spin and matter parity is derived, and discrete symmetries for the proton stability in this model are imposed. We show that in such a case it is able to give leptons masses at just the tree level. A simple mechanism for the mass generation of the neutrinos is explored. With the new R-parity, the neutral fermions get mass matrix with two distinct sectors: one light which is identified with neutrin…
We investigate the muon anomalous magnetic moment in the context of the supersymmetric version of the economical 3-3-1 model. We compute the 1-loop contribution of super-partner particles. We show that contribution of superparticle loop becomes significant when \tan γis large. We investigate for both small and large values of $\tan γ$. We find the region of the parameter space where the slepton masses are of a few hundreds GeV is favour by the muon g-2 for small \tan γ(\tan γ\sim 5 ). Numerical estimation gives the mass of supersymmetric particle, the mass of gauginos m_G \sim 700 GeV and ligh…
We explore the Higgs sector in the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model and find new features in this sector. The charged Higgs sector is revised i.e., in difference of the previous work, the exact eigenvalues and states are obtained without any approximation. In this model, there are three Higgs bosons having masses equal to that of the gauge bosons--the W and extra X and Y. There is one scalar boson with mass of 91.4 GeV, which is closed to the $Z$ boson mass and in good agreement with present limit: 89.8 GeV at 95% CL. The condition of eliminating for charged scalar tachyon leads to splitt…
We investigate Lepton-Flavor Violating (LFV) decays of Higgs to muon-tau in the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 (SUSYE331) model. In the presence of flavor mixing in sleptons {mu,tau} and large values of v/v', the ratio of Br(H -->tau^+mu^-)/Br(H -->tau^+tau^-) can reach to non-negligible values O(10^{-3}), as in many known SUSY models. We predict that for the Standard Model Higgs boson, the LHC may detect its decay to muon and tauon. We also investigate the asymmetry between left and right LFV values of corrections and prove that the LFV effects are dominated by the left FLV term, which is O(…
Sfermion masses and eigenstates in the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model are studied. By lepton number conservation, the exotic squarks and superpartners of ordinary quarks are decoupled. Due to the fact that in the 3-3-1 models, one generation of quarks behaves differently from other two, by R-parity conservation, the mass mixing matrix of the squarks in this model are smaller than that in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Assuming substantial mixing in pairs of highest flavours, we are able to get mass spectrum and eigenstates of all the sfermions. In the effective approx…
We explore the possibility that a multiple-stage inflationary scenario based on supersymmetric GUT models, can account for the break at $k_b \simeq 0.05 h/Mpc$ in the power spectrum of galaxy clustering, while it reproduces the angular power spectrum of cosmic microwave background anisotropies.
We re-investigate the scalar potential and the Higgs sector of the supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model (SUSYE331) in the presence of the B/μtype terms which has many important consequences. First, the model contains no massless Higgs fields. Second, we prove that the soft mass parameters of Higgses must be at the SU(3)_L scale. As a result, the masses of the Higgses drift toward this scale except one light real neutral Higgs with the mass of m_Z|cos(2γ)| at the tree level. We also show that there are some Higgses containing many properties of the Higgses in the minimal supersymmetric standar…
We revisit inflationary cosmology of axion models in the light of recent developments on the inflaton decay in supergravity. We find that all the cosmological difficulties, including gravitino, axino overproduction and axionic isocurvature fluctuation, can be avoided if the saxion field has large initial amplitude during inflation and decays before big-bang nucleosynthesis.
In this work, we study the charged lepton flavor violating (cLFV) decays $τ-> μγ$, $τ-> 3μ$ and $Z->μτ$ in the framework of the Supersymmetric economical 3-3-1 model. Analytic formulas for branching ratios (BR) of these decays are presented. We assume that there exist lepton flavor violation (LFV) sources in both right- and left-handed slepton sectors. This leads to the strong enhancement of cLFV decay rates. We also show that the effects of the LFV source to the cLFV decay rates in the left-handed slepton sector are greater than those in the right- handed slepton sector. By numerical investig…
We study a leptogenesis scenario in which the heavy Majorana neutrinos are produced non-thermally in inflaton decays in the supersymmetric economical SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X model with inflationary scenario, and for this purpose neutrino masses play the key role. Due to the inflaton with mass in the GUT scale, the model under consideration provides successful neutrino masses, which is different from ones without inflationary scenario. The lepton-number-violating interactions among the inflaton and right-handed neutrinos appear at the one-loop level, and this is a reason for non-thermal lept…
We show that the vacuum expectation value of the inflaton at the Peccei-Quinn axion scale can generate the supersymmetric Higgs mass $μ$ term. This provides an inflationary simultaneous solution to the strong CP problem and the $μ$ problem of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, and gives a testable prediction for the $μ$ parameter: $μ^2 \approx (0.25-0.5)m_0^2$, where $m_0$ is the soft Higgs scalar mass. Our model involves a very small Yukawa coupling of order $10^{-10}$, which could originate from an extra-dimensional scenario or type I string theory.
One of the major objectives of this dissertation has been the seek for inflationary models, coming from supersymmetric theories, which are compatible with recent cosmological data and, more specifically, with measurements of the spectral index from the WMAP3 data. A particular particle physics model, the extended SUSY Pati-Salam model with Yukawa quasi-unification, was examined thoroughly with respect to its cosmology and it was found that it incorporates a number of inflationary scenarios which can become compatible with recent data. The study of these scenarios brought out variations of cosm…
We show how supersymmetric hybrid inflation with scalar spectral index $n_{\rm s}\simeq 0.96 - 0.97$ is realized in the context of quasi-minimal supergravity if we insist that the inflationary potential not exhibit any local minima. We also address the problem of the initial conditions for both monotonic and non-monotonic inflationary potentials.
The non-supersymmetric and supersymmetric versions of hybrid inflation are summarized. It is emphasized that supersymmetric hybrid inflation (with its extensions) is an extremely "natural" inflationary scenario since it does not require "tiny" parameters, its superpotential has the most general form allowed by the symmetries, and it can be protected against radiative or supergravity corrections. A concrete supersymmetric grand unified theory which leads to hybrid inflation, solves the mu problem and generates seesaw masses for the light neutrinos is constructed. The "reheating" which follows h…
Dissipative effects can lead to a friction term in the equation of motion for an inflaton field during the inflationary era. The friction term may be linear and localised, in which case it is described by a dissipation coefficient. The dissipation coefficient is calculated here in a supersymmetric model with a two stage decay process in which the inflaton decays into a thermal gas of light particles through a heavy intermediate. At low temperatures, the dissipation coefficient $\propto T^3$ in a thermal approximation. Results are also given for a non-equilibrium anzatz. The dissipation coeffic…
We consider a minimal natural supersymmetric model based on an extra dimension with supersymmetry breaking provided by the Scherk-Schwarz mechanism. The lightest supersymmetric particle is a neutral, quasi-Dirac Higgsino and, unlike in previous studies, we assume that all Standard Model fields are propagating in the bulk. The resulting setup is minimal, as neither extra matter, effective operators, nor extra $U(1)$ groups are needed in order to be viable. The model has three free parameters which are fixed by the Higgsino mass -- set to the range 1.1-1.2 TeV so it can play the role of Dark Mat…
We exploit the complementarity among supersymmetry, inflation, axions, Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) and Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMB) to constrain supersymmetric axion models in the light of the recent Planck and BICEP results. In particular, we derive BBN bounds coming from altering the light element abundances by taking into account hadronic and electromagnetic energy injection, and CMB constraints from black-body spectrum distortion. Lastly, we outline the viable versus excluded region of these supersymetric models that might account for the mild dark radiation observed.
We have built a supersymmetric SO(10) model consistent with cosmological observations. The model gives rise to a false vacuum hybrid inflationary scenario which solves the monopole problem. We argue that this type of inflationary scenario is generic in supersymmetric SO(10) model, and arises naturally from the theory. Neither any external field nor any external symmetry has to be added. It can just be a consequence of the theory. In our specific model, at the end of inflation, cosmic strings form. The properties of the strings are presented. The cosmic background radiation anisotropies induced…
The phase structure associated with the chiral symmetry is thoroughly investigated in de Sitter spacetime in the supersymmetric Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with supersymmetry breaking terms. The argument is given in the three and four space-time dimensions in the leading order of the 1/N expansion and it is shown that the phase characteristics of the chiral symmetry is determined by the curvature of de Sitter spacetime. It is found that the symmetry breaking takes place as the first order as well as second order phase transition depending on the choice of the coupling constant and the parameter a…
We address an issue what kind of tuning realizes a flat potential for inflaton in supergravity. We restrict ourselves to the case that inflationary dynamics is not affected by separate supersymmetry-breaking effects, and consider examples of a single chiral superfield as an inflaton with its vacuum of the vanishing cosmological constant. The examples potentially include the cases of Polonyi field or right-handed sneutrino as an inflaton.
In this paper we reconsider the supersymmetric hybrid inflation in the context of the braneworld scenario . The observational bounds are satisfied with an inflationary energy scale $μ\simeq 4\times 10^{-4}M_p$, without any fine-tuning of the coupling parameter, provided that the five-dimensional Planck scale is $M_5\stackrel{<}{\sim} 2\times 10^{-3}M_p$ . We have also obtained an upper bound on the the brane tension .
A simple extension of the minimal left-right symmetric supersymmetric grand unified theory model is constructed by adding two pairs of superfields. This naturally violates the partial Yukawa unification predicted by the minimal model. After including supergravity corrections, we find that this extended model naturally supports hilltop F-term hybrid inflation along its trivial inflationary path with only a very mild tuning of the initial conditions. With a convenient choice of signs of the terms in the Kahler potential, we can reconcile the inflationary scale with the supersymmetric grand unifi…
We present a solution of the mu problem within a supersymmetric model based on the SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_{B-L} gauge group. We show that this solution implies a built-in hybrid inflationary scenario, which may result in a successful baryogenesis via leptogenesis. Baryon number is essentially conserved as a result of an R-symmetry. Neutrinos with mass in the eV range can provide the `hot' dark matter component.
We present a dynamical cosmological solution that simultaneously accounts for the early inflationary stage of the Universe and solves the supersymmetric little hierarchy problem via the relaxion mechanism. First, we consider an inflationary potential arising from the $D$-term of a new $U(1)$ gauge symmetry with a Fayet--Iliopolous term, that is independent of the relaxion. A technically natural, small $U(1)$ gauge coupling, $g\lesssim 10^{-8}$, allows for a low Hubble scale of inflation, $H_I\lesssim 10^5$ GeV, which is shown to be consistent with Planck data. This feature is then used to real…
The temperature fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background observed by COBE provide strong support for an inflationary phase in the early universe, below the GUT scale. We argue that a singlet field in a hidden sector of an effective supergravity theory yields the required inflationary potential without fine tuning. Reheating occurs to a temperature low enough to avoid the gravitino problem, but high enough to allow subsequent baryogenesis. Two observational consequences are that gravitational waves contribute negligibly to the microwave background anisotropy, and the spectrum of scalar d…
The shortcomings of the Standard Big Bang Cosmological Model as well as their resolution in the context of inflationary cosmology are discussed. The inflationary scenario and the subsequent oscillation and decay of the inflaton field are then studied in some detail. The density perturbations produced during inflation and their evolution during the matter dominated era are presented. The temperature fluctuations of the cosmic background radiation are summarized. The non-supersymmetric as well as the supersymmetric hybrid inflationary model is introduced and the `reheating' of the universe is an…
A supersymmetric hybrid inflation framework is employed to realize a class of non-minimal inflation models with $U(1)_R \times Z_n$ global symmetry. This framework naturally incorporates models based on grand unified theories by avoiding the most commonly faced monopole problem. The predictions of inflationary observables, the scalar spectral index $n_s = 0.960-0.966$ and the tensor to scalar ratio $r=0.0031-0.0045$, are in perfect agreement with the Planck 2018 data. For sub-Planckian values of the field the $Z_n$ symmetry is only allowed for $n\leq 4$.
The nonsupersymmetric as well as the supersymmetric hybrid inflationary model is reviewed. The scenario of baryogenesis via a primordial leptogenesis is discussed and the role of the nonperturbative electroweak sphaleron effects is analyzed. A supersymmetric model based on a left-right symmetric gauge group, which `naturally' leads to hybrid inflation, is presented. The mu problem is solved, in this model, and the baryon asymmetry of the universe is produced through leptogenesis. For masses of nu_mu, nu_tau from the small angle MSW resolution of the solar neutrino problem and SuperKamiokande, …
In supersymmetric theories, the signs of quartic terms in the Kähler potential control the stability of non-supersymmetric field configurations. In particular, in supersymmetric inflation models, the signs are important for the stability of an inflationary trajectory as well as for the prediction of the spectral index. In this paper, we clarify what properties of a UV theory determine the sign from unitarity arguments of scattering amplitudes. As non-trivial examples, we discuss the sign of a four-meson term in large $N$ supersymmetric gauge theories and also those of the quartic terms obtaine…
Within supersymmetric SU(5) Grand Unified Theory, we present several new scenarios with anomaly free flavor symmetry U(1)_F. Within each scenario, a variety of cases offer many possibilities for phenomenologically interesting model building. We present three concrete and economical models with anomaly free U(1)_F leading to natural understanding of observed hierarchies between charged fermion masses and CKM mixing angles.
Recently, a new minimal extension of the Standard Model has been proposed, where a spontaneously broken, flavor-dependent global U(1) symmetry is introduced. It not only explains the hierarchical flavor structure in the quark and lepton sector, but also solves the strong CP problem by identifying the Nambu-Goldstone boson as the QCD axion, which we call flaxion. In this work, we consider supersymmetric extensions of the flaxion scenario. We study the CP and flavor violations due to supersymmetric particles, the effects of R-parity violations, the cosmological gravitino and axino problems, and …
We perform a numerical investigation of the fields evolution in the supersymmetric inflationary model based on radiative corrections. Supergravity corrections are also included. We find that, out of all the examined initial data, only about 10% give an adequate amount of inflation and can be considered as ''natural''. Moreover, these successful initial conditions appear scattered and more or less isolated.
We construct a hybrid inflationary model associated with the superheavy scale of supersymmetric grand unified theories in which the inflaton potential is provided entirely by canonical supergravity. We find that the spectrum of adiabatic density perturbations is characterized by a strongly varying spectral index which is considerably larger than unity. Moreover, the total number of e-foldings is very limited. Implications of our analysis for other hybrid inflationary scenarios are briefly discussed.
We consider a supersymmetric hybrid inflation scenario in which the U(1) $R$-symmetry is explicitly broken by Planck scale suppressed operators in the superpotential. We provide an example with minimal Kähler potential, with the $R$-symmetry breaking term relevant during inflation being $αS^4$, where $S$ denotes the well-known gauge singlet inflaton superfield. The inflationary potential takes into account the radiative and supergravity corrections, as well as the soft supersymmetry breaking terms. For successful inflation, with the scalar spectral index in the currently preferred range, $n_s …
We discuss, in the context of a concrete supersymmetric grand unified model based on the Pati-Salam gauge group SU(4)_c x SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R, two "natural" extensions of supersymmetric hybrid inflation, which avoid the cosmological disaster encountered in the standard hybrid inflationary scenario from the overproduction of monopoles at the end of inflation. Successful "reheating" which satisfies the gravitino constraint takes place after the end of inflation. Also, adequate baryogenesis via a primordial leptogenesis occurs consistently with the solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillation data as…
We propose a cosmological inflationary scenario based on the supergravity-embedded Standard Model supplemented by the right-handed neutrinos. We show that with an appropriate Kahler potential the L-H_u direction gives rise to successful inflation that is similar to the recently proposed gravitationally coupled Higgs inflation model but is free from the unitarity problem. The mass scale $M_R$ of the right-handed neutrinos is subject to the seesaw relation and the present 2-$σ$ constraint from the WMAP7-BAO-H_0 data sets its lower bound $M_R\gtrsim$ 1 TeV. Generation of the baryon asymmetry is n…
We discuss a brane based inflationary scenario in which an initially non-supersymmetric configuration involving a D4 brane is dynamically transformed into a supersymmteric one in a background space-time geometry determined by a stack of D6 branes. Inflation is realized in the effective four dimensional theory and ends after reaching a stable BPS configuration. The scalar spectral index turns out to be 0.98. Under some simplifying assumption the reheat temperature, Hubble constant and the string scale are estimated to be of order $10^{8}$ GeV, $10^{12}$ GeV and $10^{16}$ GeV, respectively.
We propose a variant of hybrid inflation which is applicable in a wide class of supersymmetric grand unified models. The observed temperature perturbations of cosmic background radiation can be reproduced with natural values of the parameters of the theory and a grand unification scale which is consistent with the unification of the minimal supersymmetric standard model gauge couplings as measured at LEP. The termination of inflation is smooth and does not produce any topological defects. Finally, we present a specific supersymmetric model where our smooth hybrid inflationary scenario is reali…
We discuss leptogenesis in a realistic supersymmetric model of inflation with a low reheat temperature 1-10 GeV. The lepton asymmetry is generated by a decaying right handed sneutrino, which is produced after inflation during preheating. The inflationary model is based on a simple variant of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard model (NMSSM) which solves the μproblem, called \phiNMSSM, where the additional singlet ϕplays the role of the inflaton in hybrid (or inverted hybrid) type models. The model is invariant under an approximate Peccei-Quinn symmetry which also solves the strong CP p…
The phenomenology of supersymmetric models of inflation, where the inflationary vacuum energy is dominated by D-terms of a U(1), is investigated. Particular attention is paid to the questions of how to arrange for sufficient e-folds of inflation to occur, what kind of thermal history is expected after the end of inflation, and how to implement successful baryogenesis. Such models are argued to require a more restrictive symmetry structure than previously thought. In particular, it is non-trivial that the decays of the fields driving D-inflation can reheat the universe in such a way as to avoid…
A moderate extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model which includes a U(1)_(B-L) gauge group (B and L being the baryon and lepton number) and a Peccei-Quinn symmetry, U(1)_PQ, is presented. The hybrid inflationary scenario is automatic and `natural' in this model. The mu problem of the minimal supersymmetric standard model is solved by coupling the electroweak higgses to fields which break U(1)_PQ. Baryon number conservation and, thus, proton stability are automatic consequences of a R-symmetry. Neutrinos are assumed to acquire degenerate masses of about 1.5 eV by coupling to SU(2…
The early stages of the universe evolution are discussed according to the hot big bang model and the grand unified theories. The shortcomings of big bang are summarized and their resolution by inflationary cosmology is sketched. Cosmological inflation, the subsequent oscillation and decay of the inflaton field, and the resulting reheating of the universe are studied in some detail. The density perturbations produced by inflation and the temperature fluctuations of the cosmic microwave background radiation are introduced. The hybrid inflationary model is described. Two natural variants of the s…
The Standard Model Higgs boson with large nonminimal coupling to the gravitational curvature can drive cosmological inflation. We study this type of inflationary scenario in the context of supersymmetric grand unification and point out that it is naturally implemented in the {\em minimal} supersymmetric SU(5) model, and hence virtually in any GUT models. It is shown that with an appropriate Kähler potential the inflaton trajectory settles down to the Standard Model vacuum at the end of the slow roll. The predicted cosmological parameters are also consistent with the 7-year WMAP data.
We propose a new class of inflationary models in which the scalar field potential governing inflation is generated by the same non-perturbative gauge dynamics that may lead to supersymmetry breaking. Such models satisfy constraints from cosmic microwave background measurements for natural values of the fundamental parameters in the theory. In addition, they have two particularly interesting characteristics: a ``blue'' spectrum of scalar perturbations, and an upper bound on the total amount of inflation possible.
We show that the scale of the inflationary potential may be the electroweak scale or even lower, while still generating an acceptable spectrum of primordial density perturbations. Thermal effects readily lead to the initial conditions necessary for low scale inflation to occur, and even the moduli problem can be evaded if there is such an inflationary period. We discuss how low scale inflationary models may arise in supersymmetric theories or in theories with large new space dimensions.
Motivated by a recent discussion about the role of flat directions, a typical feature of supersymmetric models, in the process of particle production in the early universe a consistent model of inflation and preheating in supergravity with MSSM fields has been built. It is based on a model proposed by M. Kawasaki, M. Yamaguchi and T. Yanagida. In the inflationary stage, the flat directions acquire large vacuum expectation values (VEVs) without spoiling the background of slow-roll, high-scale inflation consistent with the latest WMAP5 observational data. In the stage of particle production, nat…
We develop a supersymmetric bi-axion model of high-scale inflation coupled to supergravity, in which the axionic structure originates from, and is protected by, gauge symmetry in an extra dimension. While local supersymmetry (SUSY) is necessarily Higgsed at high scales during inflation we show that it can naturally survive down to the $\sim$ TeV scale in the current era in order to resolve the electroweak hierarchy problem. We show how a suitable inflationary effective potential for the axions can be generated at tree-level by charged fields under the higher-dimensional gauge symmetry. The inf…
We consider a phenomenological extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model which incorporates chaotic inflation and a radiatively generated intermediate mass scale. Initially a period of chaotic inflation is driven by a quartic potential associated with the right-handed electron sneutrino. Supersymmetry relates the quartic coupling of the inflationary potential to the electron Majorana neutrino Yukawa coupling, $h_1$. The microwave background temperature anisotropy determines this coupling to be $h_1\simeq 10^{-7}$, which is similar in magnitude to the electron Dirac Yukawa coupling…
We explore a new class of supersymmetric models of inflation where the inflaton is realised as a combination of a Higgs field and (gauge non-singlet) matter fields, using a "tribrid" structure of the superpotential. Inflation is associated with a phase transition around GUT scale energies. The inflationary trajectory already preselects the later vacuum after inflation, which has the advantage of automatically avoiding the production of dangerous topological defects at the end of inflation. While at first sight the models look similar to smooth inflation, they feature a waterfall and are theref…
We show that the hybrid inflation is naturally realized in the framework of a supersymmetric axion model, which is consistent with the WMAP observation if the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking scale is around 10^{15}GeV. By solving the post inflationary scalar dynamics, it is found that the scalar partner of the axion, saxion, oscillates with large amplitude and its decay produces a huge entropy and dilutes the axion. As a result, the axion coherent oscillation can be the dominant component of the dark matter in the Universe. Cosmological gravitino and axino problems are solved.
We show that both the baryon asymmetry of the Universe and the dark matter abundance can be explained within a single framework that makes use of maximally helical hypermagnetic fields produced during pseudoscalar inflation and the chiral anomaly in the Standard Model. We consider a minimal asymmetric dark matter model free from anomalies and constraints. We find that the observed baryon and the dark matter abundances are achieved for a wide range of inflationary parameters, and the dark matter mass ranges between 7-15 GeV. The novelty of our mechanism stems from the fact that the same source …
The standard big bang cosmological model and the history of the early universe according to the grand unified theories of strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions are summarized. The shortcomings of big bang are discussed together with their resolution by inflationary cosmology. Inflation and the subsequent oscillation and decay of the inflaton field are studied. The density perturbations produced during inflation and their evolution during the matter dominated era are analyzed. The temperature fluctuations of the cosmic background radiation are summarized. Finally, the nonsupersymmetric …
We construct a hybrid inflationary model associated with the superheavy scale of the minimal supersymmetric standard model which is based on the simplest superpotential for symmetry breaking and in which the inflaton potential along the inflationary trajectory is essentially provided by quasi-canonical supergravity. The resulting spectrum of adiabatic density perturbations is blue and the duration of inflation sufficient but rather limited.
We show that in supersymmetry one can obtain inflationary potentials in the observable sector that are sufficiently flat at sub-Planckian field values. Structure of the supersymmetric scalar potential along a flat direction combined with the existence of higher order terms in an effective field theory expansion allows one to find scales below the effective field theory cut off where two or a higher number of the potential derivatives may vanish. As an explicit example, we demonstrate that inflection point inflation within a broad range of scales O(TeV) << H < 3 x 10^9 GeV can be accommodated w…
We consider a supersymmetric (SUSY) Grand Unified Theory (GUT) based on the gauge group G_PS=SU(4)_C x SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R, which incorporates non-minimal chaotic inflation, driven by a quartic potential associated with the Higgs fields involved in the spontaneous breaking of G_PS. The inflationary model relies on renormalizable superpotetial terms and does not lead to overproduction of magnetic monopoles. It is largely independent of the one-loop radiative corrections and can become consistent with the current observational data on the inflationary observables, with the symmetry breaking scale …
