The search for the top squark ($\widetilde{t}_{1}$) within the kinematic reach of Tevatron Run II is of great contemporary interest. Such a $\widetilde{t}_{1}$ can explain the baryon asymmetry of the universe provided $120 ~GeV/c^{2} \leq m_{\widetilde{t}_{1}} \leq m_t$. Moreover if $Δm \equiv m_{\widetilde{t}_{1}}$ - $m_{\widetildeχ_1^0}$ is small, where $\widetildeχ_1^0$ is the LSP, the dark matter relic density as obtained from the WMAP data may be explained via $\widetilde{t}_{1}$- LSP coannihilation. In this scenario the decay $\widetilde{t}_{1} \to c \widetildeχ_1^0$ is likely to occur with 100 % branching ratio but for small $Δm$ the conventional di-jet + $\not E_T$ signal becomes unobservable. We propose a new search strategy based on the $2j + \not E_T$ signature accompanied by an isolated cluster of energy which arises from a decaying heavy particle with characteristic decay length. Our preliminary simulations with PYTHIA indicate that for $100 ~GeV/c^{2} \le m_{\widetilde{t}_{1}} \le 130 ~GeV/c^{2}$ this signal may be observable while somewhat lager $m_{\widetilde{t}_{1}}$ may still provide hints of new physics.
We consider a setup where R-parity is violated in the framework of split supersymmetry. The out-of-equilibrium decays of heavy squarks successfully lead to the generation of a baryon asymmetry. We restrict the R-parity violating couplings to the baryon number violating subset to keep the neutralino sufficiently stable to provide the dark matter. The observed baryon asymmetry can be generated for squark masses larger than 10^11 GeV, while neutralino dark matter induces a stronger bound of 10^13 GeV. Some mass splitting between left- and right-handed squarks may be needed to satisfy also constra…
Baryon asymmetry of the universe is generated in the supersymmetric standard model (SSM) through the charge transport mechanism mediated by top squarks. Necessary CP violation originates from a complex phase contained in mass-squared matrices of squarks and sleptons. This complex phase also gives contributions to the electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the neutron and the electron. The amount of induced baryon asymmetry is consistent with its observed value within reasonable ranges of SSM parameters. The EDMs are predicted to be slightly smaller than their experimental upper limits.
The scalar partner of the top quark is relatively light in many models of supersymmetry breaking. We study the production of top squarks (stops) at the Tevatron collider and their subsequent decay through baryon-number violating couplings such that the final state contains no leptons. Performing a detector-level analysis, we demonstrate that, even in the absence of leptons or missing energy, stop masses upto 210 \gev/c^2 can be accessible at the Tevatron.
Taking into account the mixing effects between left- and right-handed top-squarks, we calculate the genuine supersymmetric eletroweak correction to top quark production at the Tevatron in the minimal supersymmetric model. The analytic expressions of the corrections to both the parton level cross section and the total hadronic cross section are presented. Some numerical examples are also given to show the size of the corrections.
We have determined the QCD corrections to the production of squark-antisquark pairs in $p\bar p$ collisions at the Tevatron. If the next-to-leading order corrections are taken into account, the renormalization/factorization scale dependence of the theoretical prediction for the cross section is reduced considerably. The higher order corrections increase the production cross section at the Tevatron by about a factor two if we compare the next-to-leading order prediction at a scale near the squark mass with the lowest order prediction for which, in the experimental analyses, the scale was identi…
In scenarios with relatively light down squarks, motivated, e.g., by SO(10) D terms, jets + missing $E_T$ signals can be observed at the luminosity upgraded Tevatron even if the squarks are much heavier than the gluinos and the common gaugino mass ($M_{1/2}$) at $M_G$ lies above the LEP allowed lower bound. In the conventional mSUGRA model with heavy squarks practically no signal is expected in this channel. The possiblity of distinguishing between various SUGRA motivated scenarios by exploiting the missing $E_T$ and jet $p_T$ distributions, opposite sign dileptons + jets + missing $E_T$ event…
This dissertation addresses the question of how to detect light top squarks at the upgraded Fermilab Tevatron collider. After a brief introduction to supersymmetry, the basic phenomenology of the light stop is reviewed and the current experimental situation is surveyed. The analysis presented here is based on collider event simulations. The main decay modes accessible to the Tevatron are studied, feasible discovery channels are identified, and recipes for experimental analysis are proposed. It is found that stops with masses up to the top quark mass are liable to detection under these schemes …
Signal of lighter top squark has been looked for using Tevatron data in the di-electron plus di-jet channel. We find that the mass of the lighter top squark when it decays dominantly in the electron plus jet channel, can be ruled out up to 220 GeV at 95% C.L. using di-electron data. In the framework of R-parity breaking SUSY model we exclude relevant R-parity violating couplings for a range of top squark masses and other SUSY parameters. The bounds on R-parity violating couplings are very stringent for the parameter space where lighter top squark turns out to be the next to lightest supersymme…
We consider unusual events in the CDF and D0 dilepton+jets sample with very high ET(lepton) and ET(missing). It is possible, but very unlikely, that these events originate from top quark pair production; however, they have characteristics that are better accounted for by decays of supersymmetric quarks with mass in the region of 300 GeV.
Within the supergravity framework, sleptons are expected to be considerably lighter than squarks if gluinos and squarks are approximately degenerate. This can lead to a significant enhancement in leptonic branching ratio for neutralinos, and sometimes, charginos. Using ISAJET 7.0/ISASUSY 1.0, we evaluate the multilepton signals from cascade decays of gluinos and squarks produced at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar p$ collider assuming squark and slepton masses are related as in supergravity models. We find observable cross sections for spectacular event topologies: $m$-lepton + $n$-jet + $\eslt$ e…
In minimal supergravity based supersymmetry models the charged sleptons as well as the sneutrinos may be lighter than the squarks. In such light slepton scenario the search for lighter stop squark has been investigated in the dilepton + missing $p_T(\missingpt)$ +jets ($\ge 1$) channel at Tevatron. In this scenario semileptonic decay of lighter stop squark has been considered via off shell and on shell charginos. In the latter case the chargino undergoes pure leptonic 2-body decay. We observe that for some favourable region of the MSSM parameter space one can probe lighter stop squark mass upt…
We study the production and decays of top squarks (stops) at the Tevatron collider in models of low-energy supersymmetry breaking. We consider the case where the lightest Standard Model (SM) superpartner is a light neutralino that predominantly decays into a photon and a light gravitino. Considering the lighter stop to be the next-to-lightest Standard Model superpartner, we analyze stop signatures associated with jets, photons and missing energy, which lead to signals naturally larger than the associated SM backgrounds. We consider both 2-body and 3-body decays of the top squarks and show that…
We consider single squark production in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1800$ Gev in the light gluino scenario, where production is dominated by the parton subprocess $qg\rightarrow \tilde{q}\tilde{g}\rightarrow q\tilde{g}\tilde{g}$. Computed are the total production cross-sections as well as the contribution of such production to the dijet mass distribution. We compare our cross-sections to the experimental data from the CDF collaboration with integrated luminosity of $19 pb^{-1}$.
Because of their Yukawa interactions, third generation squarks may be substantially lighter than those of the first two generations. Assuming that $\tb_1 \to b\tz_1$ and $\tz_1$ escapes experimental detection, we show that experiments at the Main Injector upgrade (integrated luminosity of $2 fb^{-1}$) of the Tevatron should be sensitive to $b$-squark masses up to 210 GeV for $m_{\tz_1} \leq 120$ GeV. For integrated luminosities of $10 fb^{-1}$ (25 $fb^{-1}$) the sbottom mass reach increases by 20 GeV (35 GeV). If the channel $\tb_1 \to b\tz_2$ is also accessible, the reach becomes model-depend…
The lighter superpartner of the top quark ($\tt_1$) may be considerably lighter than squarks of the first two generations, and hence may be accessible to Tevatron collider searches, even if the other squarks and the gluino are too heavy. For the range of $m_{\tt_1}$ of interest at the Tevatron, the $\tt_1$ decays to a chargino via $\tt_1 \to b\tw_1$ if this is kinematically allowed; otherwise, the flavor-changing loop decay $\tt_1 \to c\tz_1$ dominates. In the latter case, $\tt_1$ production is signalled by jet(s) plus $\eslt$ events. If, instead, the chargino decay is allowed, $1\ell + b$-$je…
The dimuon plus dijet signal is analyzed in the top squark pair production at Tevatron Run-II experiment and the total event rate is compared with the existing dimuon data. This comparison rules out top squark mass upto 188(104) GeV for the branching fraction 100%(50%) of top squark decay into the muon plus quark via lepton number violating coupling. Interpretation of this limit in the framework of R-parity violating(RPV) SUSY model puts limit on relevant RPV coupling for a given top squark mass and other supersymmetric model parameters. If $\MST \lsim 180$ GeV we found that the RPV couplings …
We investigate the prospect of stop squark search at Tevatron RUN-II in mSUGRA motivated as well as unconstrained supersymmetric models, when the lighter stop squark turns out to be the next lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). In this case the decay into a 4-body final state consisting of a b quark, the lightest neutralino and two light fermions may compete with the much publicized loop induced two body decay into a charm quark and the lightest neutralino. We systematically study the parameter space in mSUGRA where the lighter stop squark turns out to be the NLSP and calculate the branchi…
The effects of light, long-lived gluinos on $2\to 2$ processes at hadron colliders are examined. Such particles can mediate single squark resonant production via $q\glu\to\sq\to q\glu$ which would significantly modify the dijet data sample. We find that squark masses in the range $130<m_{\tilde q}< 694, 595, 573$ GeV are excluded for gluino masses of $0.4, 1.3, 5.0$ GeV from existing UA2 and Tevatron data on dijet bump searches and angular distributions. Run II of the Tevatron has the capability of excluding this scenario for squark masses up to $\sim 1$ TeV.
We study a scenario for baryogenesis in modular cosmology and discuss its implications for the moduli stabilization mechanism and the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scale. If moduli fields dominate the Universe and decay into the standard model particles through diatonic couplings, the right amount of baryon asymmetry can be generated through CP violating decay of gluino into quark and squark followed by baryon-number violating squark decay. We find that, in the KKLT-type moduli stabilization, at least two non-perturbative terms are required to obtain a sizable CP phase, and that the successful…
We analyze electroweak baryogenesis in supersymmetric theories with flavor-dependent CP-violating phases. We generalize the standard approach to include the flavor dependence of the CP-violating sources and obtain an analytical approximate expression for the baryon asymmetry of the universe induced by these sources. It is shown that in the framework where the $μ$-term is real and the chargino sources vanish, large flavor mixing might lead to a substantial baryon asymmetry through the squark contributions, once the condition to have a strong first-order phase transition induced by light right-h…
In a simple extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, out-of-equilibrium decays of TeV scale exotic vector-like squarks may generate the baryon asymmetry of the universe. Baryon number and CP violation are present in the superpotential, so this mechanism does not rely on CP violation in supersymmetry breaking parameters. We discuss phenomenological constraints on the model as well as potential signals for the Large Hadron Collider and electronic dipole moment experiments. A variation on the TeV scale model allows the exotic squarks to be the messengers of gauge mediated supersymm…
We calculate the one-loop supersymmetric electroweak-like and QCD-like corrections to the top-quark pair-production cross section at the Tevatron, including the important effects of non-degenerate top-squarks and left-right top-squark mixing. The largest electroweak effects yield a negative shift in the cross section and are enhanced right below the threshold for top-quark decay into top-squark and higgsino-like neutralino, and can be as large as $-35\%$. The largest QCD effects are positive and are enhanced for light top-squark masses, and can be as large as $20\%$. Such shifts greatly exceed…
We calculate the supersymmetric QCD correction to top-quark production at the Fermilab Tevatron, allowing for arbitrary left-right mixing of the squarks. We find that the correction is significant for several combinations of gluino and squark masses, e.g. +33% for m_{\tilde g}=200 GeV, m_{\tilde t} = m_{\tilde q} =75 GeV.
We use the two loop effective potential to study the first order electroweak phase transition in the minimial supersymmetric standard model. A global search of the parameter space is made to identify parameters compatible with electroweak baryogenesis. We improve on previous such studies by fully incorporating squark and Higgs boson mixing, by using the latest experimental constraints, and by computing the latent heat and the sphaleron rate. We find the constraints tan beta > 2.1, top squark mass < 172 GeV, and Higgs mass < 107 GeV (becoming more or less restrictive if the heavy stop has mass …
We have estimated the limiting branching ratio of the R-parity violating (RPV) decay of the lighter top squark, $\tilde t_1 \ar l^+ d$ ($l=e$ or $μ$ and d is a down type quark of any flavor), as a function of top squark mass($\MST$) for an observable signal in the di-lepton plus di-jet channel at the Tevatron RUN-II experiment with 2 fb$^{-1}$ luminosity. Our simulations indicate that the lepton number violating nature of the underlying decay dynamics can be confirmed via the reconstruction of $\MST$. The above decay is interesting in the context of RPV models of neutrino mass where the RPV co…
We study the signal from the pair production of $t$-squarks at the Tevatron under the assumption that their two-body decay to charginos as well as their three-body decay to $W$ bosons is kinematically forbidden. In this case, the stop dominantly decays via $\widetilde{t_1}\rightarrow c\tz_1$, so that the signal consists of two charm jets together with $\eslt$. We reevaluate this signal using ISAJET~7.01, and show that if the stop mass is below about 100 GeV, there should be as many as 50-70 events in the accumulated data sample of the CDF and D0 experiments even if the LSP is as heavy as 50 Ge…
In supersymmetry (SUSY) the flavor mixing between top-squark (stop) and charm-squark (scharm) induces the flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) stop decay $\tilde t_1 \to c \tilde χ^0_1$. Searching for this decay serves as a probe of soft SUSY breaking parameters. Focusing on the stop pair production followed by the FCNC decay of one stop and the charge-current decay of the other stop, we investigate the potential of detecting this FCNC stop decay at the Fermilab Tevatron, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the next-generation $e^+e^-$ linear collider (LC). We find that this decay may n…
We re-examine like-sign dilepton signals at the Fermilab Tevatron assuming that the excess high-$Q^2$ events recently seen at HERA are due to scalar resonances such as squarks of $R$-parity-violating supersymmetry. For gluinos in the mass range of 200--350 GeV, the like-sign dilepton signal can help to make the crucial distinction between the most favoured squark explanation and other proposed solutions.
We study unconventional decays of the top-quark and the top-squark in the framework of SUSY models with broken R-parity. The model under study is the MSSM with an additional bilinear term that breaks R-parity. In this model the top-squark behaves similar to a third generation leptoquark. We demonstrate that existing Tevatron data on the top give rise to restrictions on the SUSY parameter space. In particular, we focus on scenarios where the tau-neutrino mass is smaller than 1 eV. We give an exclusion plot derived from the leptoquark searches at Tevatron.
The loop-induced processes gg -> h,H,A provide the dominant Higgs boson production mechanisms at the Tevatron and LHC in a large range of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. For squark masses below \sim 400 GeV squark loop contributions become important in addition to the top and bottom quark loops. The next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the squark contributions of these processes are determined including the full squark and Higgs mass dependences. They turn out to be large and thus important for the Tevatron and LHC experiments. Squark mass effects of the K facto…
The favoured R-parity violating SUSY scenarios for the anomalous HERA events correspond to top and charm squark production via the $λ'_{131}$ and $λ'_{121}$ couplings. In both cases the corresponding electronic branching fractions of the squarks are expected to be $\ll 1$. Consequently the canonical leptoquark signature is incapable of probing these scenarios at the Tevatron collider over most of the MSSM parameter space. We suggest alternative signatures for probing them at Tevatron, which seem to be viable over the entire range of MSSM parameters.
The possibility of creating baryon asymmetry at the electroweak phase transition in the minimal supersymmetric standard model is considered for the case when right-handed squarks are much lighter than left-handed ones. It is shown that the usual requirement v(T_c)/T_c > 1 for baryogenesis can be satisfied in a range of the parameters of the model, consistent with present experimental bounds.
We examine the discovery potential for SUSY new physics at a p{\bar p} collider upgrade of Tevatron with \sqrt s = 5.4 TeV and luminosity L ~= 4\times 10^{32} cm^{-2}s^{-1} (the Tripler). We consider the reach for gluinos and squarks using the experimental signatures with large missing transverse energy (\met) of jets + \met and 1l + jets + \met (where l=electron or muon) within the framework of minimal supergravity. The Tripler's strongest reach for the gluino is 1060 GeV for the jets + \met channel and 1140 GeV for the 1l + jets + \met channel for 30 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity (approxi…
We study the possibility of baryogenesis in the case of supersymmetry breaking with large mixing between the right-handed scalar charm and right-handed scalar top or right-handed scalar up and right-handed scalar top squarks resulting in one light right-handed up-type squark mass eigenstate. We argue that in this case the electroweak phase transition will be first order, and that large phases already present in the quark mass matrices can generate a baryon asymmetry of the correct magnitude without introducing any new phases specifically for this purpose. We study in detail a particular ansatz…
We consider axino dark matter in large R-parity violation (RPV). In moduli-dominated universe, axino is produced thermally or non-thermally via saxion decay, then late-decaying moduli dilute axino density, which results in the right abundance to explain the present dark matter. At the same time baryon asymmetry is generated due to moduli-induced baryogenesis via the large RPV. Axino is cosmologically stable in spite of the large RPV since its decay rate is suppressed by the axion decay constant, heavy squark mass or kinematics.
I give a synopsis, specifically aimed at nonexperts, of some of the recent developments in electroweak baryogenesis. The focus of the talk is on the present status of electroweak baryogenesis in supersymmetric models, since this is a plausible and realistic possibility that is currently being probed by experimental searches for the Higgs boson and the top squark. The question of whether it is viable to have a period of color-breaking during the electroweak phase transition is also discussed.
The supersymmetric QCD corrections to top quark pair production by $q\bar q$ annihilation in $p\bar p$ collisions are calculated in the minimal supersymmetric model. We consider effects of the mixing of the scalar top quarks on the corrections to the total $t\bar t$ production cross section at the Fermilab Tevatron. We found that such correction is less sensitive to squark mass and gluino mass than in no-mixing case, and in both cases the corrections can exceed 10\% even if we consider the recent CDF limit on squark and gluino masses.
In principle, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be generated at the electroweak phase transition but the experimental lower limit on the Higgs mass seems to rule out a Standard Model scenario. However, it has been shown recently that in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the electroweak phase transition can be a strong enough first order one for baryogenesis if the mass of one top squark is close to or smaller than the top mass.
The baryon density which may be produced during the electroweak phase transition in supersymmetric models is computed, taking into account the previously neglected effects of transport, strong and weak anomalous fermion number violation, thermal scattering, and a new method for computing \cp\ violating processes during the transition. We can account for the observed baryon asymmetry, provided new \cp-violating phases are greater than $\sim 10^{-(2-4)}$, and some superpartners are light enough to be relevant during the transition, which takes place at a temperature of (50-100) GeV. In one case,…
In the light gluino scenario, squarks in the 100 GeV mass region can be copiously produced at the Tevatron without a second heavy particle. Their subsequent dijet decay into quark plus gluino leads to non-scaling structure in the inclusive jet X_T distribution. The expected behavior is similar to recent observations.
We have analyzed baryogenesis in the MSSM for the light stop scenario, where the phase transition is strong enough first order. We have found that enough baryon asymmetry can be generated provided that the phase of $μ$ be $\simgt$ 0.01. Constraints from the electric dipole moment of the neutron enforce the first and second generation squarks to have masses O(few) TeV
We reinvestigated the parameter space allowing a large BR of the 4-body decay of the lighter top-squark ($\lstop$) accessible at Tevatron Run-II by imposing the lighter CP-even Higgs boson mass ($\mlhiggs$) bound from LEP. Important constraints were obtained in mSUGRA as well as in the unconstrained supersymmetric models. Our results show that the prospect of searching the lighter top-squark via the 4-body decay mode, in particular the $\ell + n-jets + \met$ signal, is not promising in mSUGRA due to the above bound on $\mlhiggs$. The existing bounds on $\mlstop$ from Tevatron Run-I and LEP ass…
An interesting prediction of a string-inspired {\em one-parameter} $SU(5)\times U(1)$ supergravity model, is the fact that the lightest member ($\tilde t_1$) of the top-squark doublet $(\tilde t_1,\tilde t_2)$, may be substantially lighter than the top quark. This sparticle ($\tilde t_1$) may be readily pair-produced at the Tevatron and, if $m_{\tilde t_1}\lsim130\GeV$, even be observed at the end of Run IB. Top-squark production may also be an important source of sought-for top-quark signatures in the dilepton and $\ell$+jets channels. Therefore, a re-analysis of the top data sample in the pr…
In collaboration with G.D. Moore, the electroweak phase transition in the minimal supersymmetric standard model is studied using the two-loop effective potential. We make a comprehensive search of the MSSM parameter space consistent with electroweak baryogenesis, taking into account various factors: the latest experimental constraints on the Higgs boson mass and the rho parameter, the possibility of significant squark and Higgs boson mixing, and the exact rate of bubble nucleation and sphaleron transitions. Most of the baryogenesis-allowed regions of parameter space will be probed by LEP 200, …
It has been recently shown that the observed baryon number may originate at the electroweak phase transition, provided that the Higgs boson and the lightest stop are sufficiently light. In this work, we perform a detailed analysis, including all dominant two-loop finite temperature corrections to the Higgs effective potential, as well as the non-trivial effects proceeding from the mixing in the stop sector, to define the region of parameter space for which electroweak baryogenesis can happen. The limits on the stop and Higgs masses are obtained by taking into account the experimental bounds on…
The MSSM has flat directions in its scalar potential, along which it is natural for Bose condensates of squarks to form in the early Universe. A baryon asymmetry can be induced in these condensates via Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. The condensates are unstable with respect to fragmentation to "B-balls", solitons made of squarks and carrying baryon number, which, if they survive thermalization, fill the Universe down to low temperatures, much lower than that of the electroweak phase transition, with interesting cosmological consequences. In particular, their decay implies a similar number density …
To estimate the diffusion constant $D$ of particles in a plasma, we develop a method that is based on the mean free path $λ$ for scatterings with momentum transfer $q >~ T$. Using this method, we estimate $λ$ and $D$ for squarks and quarks during the electroweak phase transition. Assuming that Debye and magnetic screening lengths provide suitable infrared cutoffs, our calculations yield $λ<~ 18/T$ and $D <~ 5/T$ for both squarks and quarks. Our estimate of $λ$ suggests that suppressions of charge transport due to decoherence of these strongly interacting particles during the electroweak phase …
We analyze the quantum transport equations for supersymmetric electroweak baryogenesis including previously neglected bottom and tau Yukawa interactions and show that they imply the presence of a previously unrecognized dependence of the cosmic baryon asymmetry on the spectrum of third generation quark and lepton superpartners. For fixed values of the CP-violating phases in the supersymmetric theory, the baryon asymmetry can vary in both magnitude and sign as a result of the squark and slepton mass dependence. For light, right-handed top and bottom quark superpartners, the baryon number creati…
We review the baryogenesis scenario in the MSSM at the perturbative level and, in particular, the impact of two-loop corrections on the strength of the phase transition and the amount of generated baryon asymmetry. We confirm the baryogenesis window, where m_H is less than 115GeV, for m_Q less than a few GeV, and the right-handed stop mass is constrained in the region between 100GeV and the top mass. This scenario will be tested at LEP and Tevatron colliders.
Strong mixing between right-handed strange and beauty squarks is a possible solution to the CP violation discrepancy in $B\to ϕK_S$ decay as recently suggested by the Belle data. In this scenario, thanks to the strong mixing one of the strange-beauty squarks can be as light as 200 GeV, even though the generic supersymmetry scale is at TeV. In this work, we study the production of this light right-handed strange-beauty squark at hadronic colliders and discuss the detection in various decay scenarios. Detection prospect at the Tevatron Run II is good for the strange-beauty squark mass up to abou…
We discuss the three-body decays stop_1 -> W^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> H^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> b slepton_i neutrino_l, and stop_1 -> b sneutrino_l l^+$ ($l =e,μ,τ$) of the lighter top squark within the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We give the complete analytical formulas for the decay widths and present a numerical study in view of an upgraded Tevatron, the CERN LHC, and a future lepton collider demonstrating the importance of these decay modes.
We analyse the top flavour violating decays in general supersymmetric model using the mass insertion approximation. In particular, we discuss the impact of a light right-handed top-squark and large mixing between the first or second and third generation of up-squarks on processes as t -> q gamma,g . We also take into account the relevant experimental constraints from B-physics and the requirements for a successfull electroweak baryogenesis on squark mixings. We show that for general large mixings in squarks mass matrix, the branching ratio of the t -> q gamma, g (q=u,c) can be as large as 10^{…
The presence of a light b-squark (with mass about 4 GeV) and gluino (with mass about 15 GeV) might explain the observed excess in b-quark production at the Tevatron. Though provocative, this model is not excluded by present data. The light supersymmetric particles can induce large flavor-changing effects in radiative decays of B mesons. We analyse the decays B->X_s gamma and B->X_{sg} in this scenario and derive restrictive bounds on the flavor-changing quark-squark-gluino couplings.
We propose a Kähler potential in supergravity which successfully accommodates chaotic inflation. This model can have a large gravitino mass without giving a large mass to squarks and sleptons, and thus is free from both the gravitino problem and entropy crisis. In this model baryogenesis takes place naturally, identifying the inflaton with a right-handed sneutrino with its mass $M \simeq 10^{13}$GeV, which is consistent with the COBE data and the Mikheyev--Smirnov--Wolfenstein solution to the solar neutrino problem. The model can also accommodate the matter content appropriate for the mixed da…
We consider scenarios with large flavour violating entries in the squark mass matrices focusing on the mixing between second and third generation squarks. These entries govern both, flavour violating low energy observables on the one hand and squark and gluino decays on the other hand. We first discuss the constraints on the parameter space due to the recent data on B mesons from the B factories and Tevatron. We then consider flavour violating squark and gluino decays and show that they can still be typically of order 10% despite the stringent constraints from low energy data. Finally we brief…
A very light gluino ($m_{\tilde g} \lsim 2 \gev$) is still consistent with experimental data and is attractive from a theoretical standpoint. This has been shown to lead to a small gluino content of the proton. We use this effect to demonstrate that such a light gluino could lead to a striking enhancement, at Tevatron, of monojets accompanied by large missing momentum. A reanalysis of the existing data may thus rule out a light gluino for a common squark mass of upto $\sim 600 \gev$.
We calculate squared helicity amplitudes for non-diagonal and mixed squark pair production at hadron colliders, taking into account not only loop-induced QCD diagrams, but also previously unconsidered electroweak channels, which turn out to be dominant. Mixing effects are included for both top and bottom squarks. Numerical results are presented for several SUSY benchmark scenarios at both the CERN LHC and the Fermilab Tevatron, including the possibilities of light stops or sbottoms. The latter should be easily observed at the Tevatron in associated production of stops and sbottoms for a large …
Within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model we study the three body decay of the lighter top squark into a b-quark, a W-boson and the lightest neutralino and compare this decay with the flavour changing two body decay of the lighter top squark into a c-quark and the lightest neutralino. We do this for scenarios where two body decays at tree level are forbidden for the light top squark. We give the complete analysis for the three body and compare it with the mentioned two body decay. We discuss our numerical results in view of the upgraded Tevatron, the LHC and a 500~GeV $e^+ e^-$ Linear C…
Analyzing the $\ell +n$-$jets+ \met$ (where $n \ge 2 $), data from Run-I of the Tevatron using the Bayesian technique, we obtain model independent limits on the product $\br(\lstop\ra be^{+}ν_e \lspone) \times \br(\lstop^{*}\ra \bar{b}q\bar{q^{\prime}}\lspone)$ for different values of the lighter top squark($\lstop$) mass and the lightest supersymmetric particle($\lspone$) mass. The SUSY signals have been simulated by interfacing the 4-body decay of $\lstop$ at the parton level with the event generator PYTHIA. These limits have been translated into exclusion plots in the $\mlstop$-$\mlspone$ p…
Phenomenologically viable and interesting regions of parameter space in the minimal super-gravity (mSUGRA) model with small $m_0$ and small $m_{1/2}$ consistent with the WMAP data on dark matter relic density and the bound on the mass of the lightest Higgs scalar $ m_h>$ 114 GeV from LEP2 open up if the rather adhoc assumption $A_0$=0, where $A_0$ is the common trilinear soft breaking parameter, employed in most of the existing analyses is relaxed. Since this region corresponds to relatively light squarks and gluinos which are likely to be probed extensively in the very early stages of the LHC…
