Virtual hadronic contributions to the Bhabha process at the NNLO level are discussed. They are substantial for predictions with per mil accuracy. The studies of heavy fermion and hadron corrections complete the calculation of Bhabha virtual effects at the NNLO level.
Soft and virtual loop photonic contributions to the second order next-to-leading QED radiative corrections to Bhabha scattering are calculated with help of the renormalization group approach. The results are in agreement with earlier calculations, where other methods were used. Scale dependence and the present theoretical accuracy of Bhabha cross section description are discussed.
Using dispersion relations, we derive the complete virtual QED contributions to Bhabha scattering due to vacuum polarization effects in photon propagation. We apply our result to hadronic corrections and to heavy lepton and top quark loop insertions. We give the first complete estimate of their net numerical effects for both small and large angle scattering at typical beam energies of meson factories, LEP, and the ILC. The effects turn out to be smaller, in most cases, than those corresponding to electron loop insertions, but stay, with amounts of typically one per mille, of relevance for prec…
Effects of vacuum polarization by hadronic and heavy-fermion insertions were the last unknown two-loop QED corrections to high-energy Bhabha scattering and have been first announced in \cite{Actis:2007fs}. Here we describe the corrections in detail and explore their numerical influence. The hadronic contributions to the virtual O(alpha^2) QED corrections to the Bhabha-scattering cross-section are evaluated using dispersion relations and computing the convolution of hadronic data with perturbatively calculated kernel functions. The technique of dispersion integrals is also employed to derive th…
Theoretical predictions for Bhabha scattering at the two-loop level require the inclusion of hadronic vacuum polarization in the photon propagator. We present predictions for the contributions from reducible amplitudes which are proportional to the vacuum polarization $π(q^2)$ and from irreducible ones where the vacuum polarization appears in a loop representing vertex or box diagrams. The second case can be treated by using dispersion relations with a weight function proportional to the $R$-ratio as measured in electron-positron annihilation into hadrons and kernels that can be calculated per…
We derive the two-loop corrections to Bhabha scattering from heavy fermions using dispersion relations. The double-box contributions are expressed by three kernel functions. Convoluting the perturbative kernels with fermionic threshold functions or with hadronic data allows to determine numerical results for small electron mass m_e, combined with arbitrary values of the fermion mass m_f in the loop, $m_e^2<<s,t,m_f^2$, or with hadronic insertions. We present numerical results for m_f = m_μ, m_τ, m_{top} at typical small- and large-angle kinematics ranging from 1 GeV to 500 GeV.
A critical subject in fully differential QED calculations originates from numerical instabilities due to small fermion masses that act as regulators of collinear singularities. At next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) a major challenge is therefore to find a stable implementation of numerically delicate real-virtual matrix elements. In the case of Bhabha scattering this has so far prevented the development of a fixed-order Monte Carlo at NNLO accuracy. In this paper we present a new method for stabilising the real-virtual matrix element. It is based on the expansion for soft photon energies inc…
In this paper we present the master integrals necessary for the analytic calculation of the box diagrams with one electron loop (N_{F}=1) entering in the 2-loop (α^3) QED virtual corrections to the Bhabha scattering amplitude of the electron. We consider on-shell electrons and positrons of finite mass m, arbitrary squared c.m. energy s, and momentum transfer t; both UV and soft IR divergences are regulated within the continuous D-dimensional regularization scheme. After a brief overview of the method employed in the calculation, we give the results, for s and t in the Euclidean region, in term…
Virtual fermionic N_f = 1 and N_f = 2 contributions to Bhabha scattering are combined with realistic real corrections at next-to-next-to-leading order in QED. The virtual corrections are determined by the package bha_nnlo_hf, and real corrections with the Monte Carlo generators Bhagen-1Ph, Helac-Phegas and Ekhara. Numerical results are discussed at the energies of and with realistic cuts used at the Phi factory DAFNE, at the B factories PEP-II and KEK, and at the charm/tau factory BEPC II. We compare these complete calculations with the approximate ones realized in the generator BabaYaga@NLO u…
We evaluate, in the high-energy limit, $s\gg|t|\gg m^2\ggλ^2$, the sum of amplitudes corresponding to a class of Feynman diagrams describing two-loop virtual photonic corrections to Bhabha scattering. The diagrams considered are box and crossed box diagrams with a vacuum polarization insertion in one of the photon lines.
The Standard Model radiative corrections to the Bhabha scattering process are considered within the one-loop approximation. Both virtual corrections and corrections for the real photon emission are taken into consideration. The calculation was performed at the energy assumed at the Belle II (Japan) facility.
We review the status of the calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to large angle Bhabha scattering in pure QED. After discussing the electron-loop and photonic corrections, we focus on the recently calculated two-loop virtual corrections involving a heavy-flavor fermion loop. We conclude by assessing the numerical impact of these corrections on the Bhabha scattering cross section at colliders operating at a center of mass energy of about 1-GeV.
We briefly review the status of the calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to large angle Bhabha scattering in pure QED. In particular, we focus on the analytic calculation of the two-loop virtual corrections involving a heavy-flavor fermion loop, which was recently completed. We conclude by assessing the numerical impact of these corrections on the Bhabha scattering cross section at colliders operating at a center of mass energy of 1 GeV and at the future ILC.
Recently, we evaluated the virtual cross-section for Bhabha scattering in pure QED, up to corrections of order alpha^4 (N_F =1). This calculation is valid for arbitrary values of the squared center of mass energy s and momentum transfer t; the electron and positron mass m was considered a finite, non vanishing quantity. In the present work, we supplement the previous calculation by considering the contribution of the soft photon emission diagrams to the differential cross-section, up to and including terms of order alpha^4 (N_F=1). Adding the contribution of the real corrections to the renorma…
In this paper we analyze the effects of virtual vector bileptons in polarized Bhabha scattering at the energies of the future linear colliders. In order to make the calculations of the differential cross sections more realistic, important beam effects such as initial state radiation, beamstrahlung, beam energy and polarization spreads are accounted for. The finite resolution of a typical electromagnetic calorimeter planned for the new linear colliders is also considered in the simulation. The 95% confidence level limits for bilepton masses in 331 models are evaluated.
The Randall-Sundrum (RS) model with the small curvature is studied. In such a scheme the mass spectrum of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gravitons is similar to that in a model with one extra flat dimension. The gravity effects in the Bhabha scattering at the energy 1 TeV are estimated. The calculations are based on the analytical formula which describes virtual graviton contributions. It takes into account both a discrete character of the mass spectrum and nonzero widths of the KK gravitons.
Radiative corrections due to the production of virtual as well as real soft and hard pairs in small-angle Bhabha scattering are calculated analytically. Both the collinear and the semi-collinear kinematical regions of hard pair production are considered. The calculation, within the leading and next-to-leading logarithmic approximation, provides an accuracy of O(0.1%). Numerical results show that the effects of pair production have to be taken into account for a luminosity determination accurate to O(0.1%) at LEP.
We report on a high-precision calculation of the Bhabha process in Quantum Electrodynamics, of interest for precise luminosity determination of electron-positron colliders involved in R measurements in the region of hadronic resonances. The calculation is based on the matching of exact next-to-leading order corrections with a Parton Shower algorithm. The accuracy of the approach is demonstrated in comparison with existing independent calculations and through a detailed analysis of the main components of theoretical uncertainty, including two-loop corrections, hadronic vacuum polarization and l…
We calculate the two-loop virtual, UV renormalized corrections at order α^4 (N_F=1) in QED to the Bhabha scattering differential cross section, for arbitrary values of the squared c.m. energy s and momentum transfer t, and on-shell electrons and positrons of finite mass m. The calculation is carried out within the dimensional regularization scheme; the remaining IR divergences appear as polar singularities in (D-4). The result is presented in terms of 1- and 2-dimensional harmonic polylogarithms, of maximum weight 3.
We overview the general status of higher order corrections to Bhabha scattering and review recent progress in the determination of the two-loop virtual corrections. Quite recently, they were derived from combining a massless calculation and contributions with electron sub-loops. For a massive calculation, the self-energy and vertex master integrals are known, while most of the two-loop boxes are not. We demonstrate with an example that a study of systems of differential equations, combined with Mellin-Barnes representations for single masters, might open a way for their systematic calculation.
We provide an exact calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) massive corrections to Bhabha scattering in QED, relevant for precision luminosity monitoring at meson factories. Using realistic reference event selections, exact numerical results for leptonic and hadronic corrections are given and compared with the corresponding approximate predictions of the event generator BabaYaga@NLO. It is shown that the NNLO massive corrections are necessary for luminosity measurements with per mille precision. At the same time they are found to be well accounted for in the generator at an accurac…
The luminosity measurement at the projected International Linear $e^+e^-$ Collider ILC is planned to be performed with forward Bhabha scattering with an accuracy of the order of $10^{-4}$. A theoretical prediction of the differential cross-section has to include one-loop weak corrections, with leading higher order terms, and the complete two-loop QED corrections. Here, we present the weak part and the virtual one-loop photonic corrections. For the photonic corrections, the expansions in $ε= (4-d)/2$ are derived with inclusion of the terms of order $ε$ in order to match the two-loop accuracy. F…
We will describe radiative corrections to bremsstrahlung, focusing on applications to luminosity, fermion pair production, and radiative return at high-energy e+ e- colliders. A precise calculation of the Bhabha luminosity process was essential at SLC and LEP, and will be equally important in ILC physics. We will review the exact results for two-photon radiative corrections to Bhabha scattering which led to the precision estimates for the BHLUMI MC. We will also compare the implementation of the virtual photon correction to bremsstrahlung for fermion pair production in the KK MC to similar exa…
The LEP2 data set on the Bhabha process is analyzed with the aim to detect the signals of the heavy virtual Z' gauge bosons. The state interacting with the left-handed standard-model doublets and called the Chiral Z' is investigated. This particle was introduced already as the low-energy state allowed by the renormalizability of the model. The contribution of the Chiral Z' state to the Bhabha process is described by two parameters: the coupling to electrons and the Z-Z' mixing angle. The sign-definite one-parameter observable is proposed to measure the Z' coupling to the electron current. The …
The cross-section of (quasi-)elastic large-angle electron-positron scattering at high energies is calculated. Radiative corrections of the orders O(α^2 L^2) and O(α^2 L), besides pure two-loop box contributions, are explicitly calculated. In the second order we considered the following sources of corrections: 1) Virtual photonic corrections coming from squares of 1-loop level amplitudes and their relevant interferences (vertex-type and box-type Feynman diagrams). 2) Double soft photon emission and one-loop corrections to single soft photon emission. The results are presented in an analytical f…
We evaluate, in the high-energy limit, $s\gg|t|\gg m^2\ggλ^2$, the sum of amplitudes corresponding to a class of Feynman diagrams describing two-loop virtual photonic corrections to Bhabha scattering. The diagrams considered are box and crossed box diagrams with an extra photon decorating one of the fermion lines. The mathematical method employed is that of Mellin transforms. In the eikonal approximation, this sum of two-loop amplitudes has previously been evaluated, and found to be equal to the sum of the box and crossed box amplitudes, multiplied by the electric form factor of the electron. …
We have used YFS Monte Carlo techniques to obtain per-mil level accuracy for the Bhabha scattering cross section used in the luminosity monitor in electro-weak scattering experiments. We will describe techniques for extending these methods for use in the W production luminosity cross section for hadron colliders.
The process of large-angle high energy electron-positron scattering with emission of one hard photon almost collinear to one of the charged particles momenta is considered. The differential cross section with radiative corrections due to emission of virtual and soft real photons calculated to a power accuracy is presented. Emission of two hard photons and total expressions for radiative correction are given in leading logarithmical approximation. The latter are illustrated by numeric estimates. A relation of the results with structure function formalism is discussed.
We present the two-loop virtual QED corrections to e^+ e^- to mu^+ mu^- and Bhabha scattering in dimensional regularization. The results are expressed in terms of polylogarithms. The form of the infrared divergences agrees with previous expectations. These results are a crucial ingredient in the complete next-to-next-to-leading order QED corrections to these processes. A future application will be to reduce theoretical uncertainties associated with luminosity measurements at e^+ e^- colliders. The calculation also tests methods that may be applied to analogous QCD processes.
In the context of pure QED, we obtain analytic expressions for the contributions to the Bhabha scattering differential cross section at order alpha^4 which originate from the interference of two-loop photonic vertices with tree-level diagrams and from the interference of one-loop photonic diagrams amongst themselves. The ultraviolet renormalization is carried out. The IR-divergent soft-photon emission corrections are evaluated and added to the virtual cross section. The cross section obtained in this manner is valid for on-shell electrons and positrons of finite mass, and for arbitrary values …
A global analysis of the data on Bhabha scattering from the four LEP experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL is performed to search for effects of virtual graviton exchange in models with low scale gravity. No statistically significant deviations from the Standard Model expectations are observed and lower limits on the scale of models with large extra dimensions of $Λ_T = 1.077 TeV$ for $λ= -1$ and $Λ_T = 1.412 TeV$ for $λ= +1$ at 95% confidence level are derived.
A program calculating Bhabha scattering at high energy colliders is considered for porting to the EGEE Grid infrastructure. The program code, which is a result of the aITALC project, is ported by using a master-worker operating scheme. The job submission, execution and monitoring are implemented using the GridWay metascheduler. The unattended execution of jobs turned out to be complete and rather efficient, even when pre-knowledge of the grid is absent. While the batch of jobs remains organized at the user's side, the actual computation was carried out within the phenogrid virtual organization…
The luminosity determination of electron-positron colliders operating in the region of low-lying hadronic resonances (E_cm ~ 1-10 GeV), such as BEPC/BES, DAPHNE, KEKB, PEP-II and VEPP-2M, requires the precision calculation of the Bhabha process at large scattering angles. In order to achieve a theoretical accuracy at a few 0.1% level, the inclusion of radiative corrections is mandatory. The phenomenologically relevant effect of QED corrections is taken into account in the framework of the Parton Shower (PS) method, which is employed both for cross section calculation and event generation. To t…
A comparison of theoretical results on NNLO leptonic and hadronic corrections to Bhabha scattering with the Monte Carlo generator BabaYaga@NLO used at meson factories is given. Complete NLO virtual corrections to the $e^+e^- \to μ^+ μ^- γ$ process are discussed.
We propose a novel approach to determine the leading hadronic corrections to the muon g-2. It consists in a measurement of the effective electromagnetic coupling in the space-like region extracted from Bhabha scattering data. We argue that this new method may become feasible at flavor factories, resulting in an alternative determination potentially competitive with the accuracy of the present results obtained with the dispersive approach via time-like data.
A two-gluon-exchange model incorporating perturbative and non-perturbative effects is presented for rho electroproduction which provides an excellent description of all current data. This is then used to calculate the contribution from the rho to deeply virtual Compton scattering via the vector-meson-dominance transition rho -> gamma. This is found to be sufficiently large to provide a significant contribution through interference with the perturbative QCD term.
A soft photon approximation is used to calculate the rates of lepton pair production through virtual bremsstrahlung from both pions and quarks. Standard assumptions about the evolution of a nuclear system under collision allow pion and quark driven total production to be calculated. Comparisons are made with Dalitz decay of light mesons. These mechanisms are expected to be significant contributors to the soft dilepton mass spectra one might observe in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies.
The antenna subtraction method handles real radiation contributions in higher order corrections to jet observables. The method is based on antenna functions, which encapsulate all unresolved radiation between a pair of hard radiator partons. To apply this method to compute hadron collider observables, initial-initial antenna functions with both radiators in the initial state are required. In view of extending the antenna subtraction method to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) calculations at hadron colliders, we derive the one-loop initial-initial antenna functions in unintegrated and integ…
We derive a set of new formulas for various distributions in dilepton production via virtual photon bremsstrahlung from pseudoscalar mesons and unpolarized spin-one-half fermions. These formulas correspond to the leading and sub-leading terms in the Low-Burnett-Kroll expansion for real photon bremsstrahlung. The relation of our leading-term formulas to previous works is also shown. Existing formulas are examined in the light of Lorentz covariance and gauge invariance. Numerical comparison is made in a simple example, where an "exact" formula and real photon data exist. The results reveal large…
We calculate the spin dependent structure function of the polarized virtual photon $g_1^γ(x,Q^2,p^2)$, especially its hadronic part, using the OPE in the inverse powers of the target photon virtuality. Some model is accepted to achieve a correct analytical behaviour in the photon squared mass. This enables extrapolation to the case of a real photon.
We present the two-loop virtual amplitudes for the production of a top-quark pair in gluon fusion. The evaluation method is based on a numerical solution of differential equations for master integrals in function of the quark velocity and scattering angle starting from a boundary at high-energy. The results are given for the renormalized infrared finite remainders on a large grid and have recently been used in the calculation of the total cross sections at the next-to-next-to-leading order. For convenience, we also give the known results for the quark annihilation case on the same grid. Outsid…
Using the recently introduced STRIPPER approach to double-real radiation, we evaluate the total cross sections for the main partonic channels of the next-to-next-to leading order contributions to top quark pair production in hadronic collisions: gg -> ttgg, gg -> ttqq, qq -> ttgg, qq -> ttq'q', q' != q. The results are given as Laurent expansions in epsilon, the parameter of dimensional regularization, at a number of m/ECM values spreading the entire variation range, with m the mass of the top quark and ECM the center-of-mass energy. We describe the details of our implementation and demonstrat…
Electron-positron annihilation into hadrons plus an energetic photon from initial state radiation allows the hadronic cross-section to be measured over a wide range of energies. The full next-to-leading order QED corrections for the cross-section for e^+ e^- annihilation into a real tagged photon and a virtual photon converting into hadrons are calculated where the tagged photon is radiated off the initial electron or positron. This includes virtual and soft photon corrections to the process e^+ e^- \to γ+γ^* and the emission of two real hard photons: e^+ e^- \to γ+ γ+ γ^*. A Monte Carlo gener…
The evaluation of the numerically dominant pseudoscalar-pole contribution to hadronic light-by-light scattering in the muon g-2 involves the pseudoscalar-photon transition form factor F_{P gamma^* gamma^*}(-Q_1^2, -Q_2^2) with P = pi^0, eta, eta^\prime and, in general, two off-shell photons with spacelike momenta Q_{1,2}^2. We show, in a largely model-independent way, that for pi^0 (eta, eta^\prime) the region of photon momenta below about 1 (1.5) GeV gives the main contribution to hadronic light-by-light scattering. We then discuss how the precision of current and future measurements of the s…
The mini-proceedings of the STRONG2020 Virtual Workshop "Space-like and Time-like determination of the Hadronic Leading Order contribution to the Muon $g-2$", November 24--26 2021, are presented. This is the first workshop of the STRONG2020 WP21: JRA3-PrecisionSM: Precision Tests of the Standard Model (http://www.strong-2020.eu/joint-research-activity/jra3-precisionsm.html). The workshop was devoted to review of the working group activitity on: $(\it i)$ Radiative Corrections and Monte Carlo tools for low-energy hadronic cross sections in $e^+ e^-$ collisions; $(\it ii)$ Annotated database for…
The photon structure function is a useful testing ground for QCD. It is perturbatively computable apart from a contribution from what is usually called the hadronic component of the photon. There have been many proposals for this nonperturbative part of the real photon structure function. By studying moments of the virtual photon structure function, we explore the extent to which these proposed nonperturbative contributions can be identified experimentally.
Recently dispersion relations have been applied to hard exclusive processes such as deeply virtual Compton scattering, and a holographic principle was proposed that maps out the generalized parton distributions entering the soft matrix elements for the processes from their values on a given kinematical ridge. We examine possible pitfalls associated with the implicit, direct identification in this approach of the physical hadronic states with colored partons, and suggest an improved treatment of this assumption.
The theorem is proved, determining the forward scatterring amplitude of virtual longitudinal photon at zero energy on any hadronic target in the limit of small photon virtualities $Q^2$. The theorem is strict, based only on Lorenz and gauge invariance. No assumptions about the strong interaction, besides the gap in the mass spectrum, are used. Two terms in the expansion over $Q^2$ are calculated. The estimation is given up to what $Q^2$ the elastic term can represent the whole amplitude of longitudinal virtual photon-proton scattering.
We present the calculation of the supersymmetric QCD correction to $W γ$ production process in polarized proton-antiproton collisions at the TeV energy region. We find that the correction can reach 1.2% at parton level with favorable mass values of squarks and gluino, which is comparable with the virtual correction part of the conventional QCD. The production rates for different polarized $p \bar{p}$ collisions are also compared.
We determine which regions of photon momenta give the main contribution for hadronic light-by-light scattering. Furthermore, we analyze how the precision of future measurements of the single- and double-virtual form factor impacts the precision of a data-driven estimate of …
The two photon exchange amplitude is investigated in frame of analytic properties of the virtual Compton scattering amplitude as a function of the invariant mass squared of the intermediate hadronic state. A sum rule is built, based on arguments from analyticity. It relates the differential cross section of elastic electron-proton scattering including form factors, and the cross section of inelastic scattering channel, with a contribution of nucleon anti-nucleon pair production arising from the Fermi statistics. The last term is calculated in frame of a simple model of nucleon-pion interaction…
The calculation of electroweak corrections to processes with jets in the final state involves contributions of low-virtuality photons leading to jets in the final state via the singular splitting $γ^* \to q\bar q$. These singularities can be absorbed into a photon-to-jet "fragmentation function", better called "conversion function", since the physical final state is any hadronic activity rather than an identified hadron. Using unitarity and a dispersion relation, we relate this $γ^* \to q\bar q$ conversion contribution to an integral over the imaginary part of the hadronic vacuum polarization …
We evaluate the effect of a virtual top quark on the coefficient of $α_{s}^{2}$ in the decay rates $Γ(Z \rightarrow {\rm hadrons})$ and $Γ(Z \rightarrow b\overline{b} )$. We treat the dependence on the top quark mass exactly instead of using a large mass expansion. The present work completes the evaluation of the $α_{s}^{2}$ contributions to these quantities. The calculation uses both the $\overline{\rm MS}$ and Collins-Wilczek-Zee renormalization prescriptions. The results can be applied to the hadronic decays of the $τ$-lepton.
We present a systematic framework to study the threshold contributions of the differential rapidity distribution for the production of any number of colorless particles in the hadronic colliders. This has been achieved based on the universality structure of the soft enhancements associated with the real emissions, along with the factorization property of the differential cross section and the renormalization group invariance. In this formalism, we present a universal soft-collinear operator to compute the soft virtual differential cross section for a generic $2\rightarrow n$ scattering process…
In the framework of the vector dominance model (VDM) new contribution into the cross-section of $D^*$-meson photoproduction at HERA has been estimated. This contribution is due to the interaction of the virtual vector $c\bar c$-mesons from photon with the proton. It has been shown that the mechanism under discussion plays the essential role for all values of transverse momentum of $D^*$-mesons at HERA. Taking into account for the contribution of this mechanism improves the description of the experimental cross section distribution.
Hadronic corrections to the muon lifetime are calculated in the Fermi theory in the presence of QED using dispersion relations. The result, after convolution of hadron data with the calculated perturbative kernel is Delta Gamma_had = -Gamma_0(alpha/pi)^2(0.042) where Gamma_0 is the tree-level width. The results are also used to obtain the corrections to the muon lifetime coming from virtual muon and tau loops Delta Gamma_muon = Gamma_0(alpha/pi)^2[(16987/576)-(85/36)zeta(2)-(64/3)zeta(3)] = -Gamma_0(alpha/pi)^2(0.0364333) Delta Gamma_tau = -Gamma_0(alpha/pi)^2)(0.00058)
We calculated the contribution of the photon hadronic component in the charmed structure function of the leptoproduction. The contribution comes from scattering of the c quarks of the virtual photon on the quarks and gluons of the proton. Comparison of our calculations with the measurements of the charm production in $μ^+p$-scattering by EMC shows, that contribution of resolved photon can explain the excess of EMC data over the predictions of the photon-gluon fusion model at large momentum transfers. Thus, one does not need to use a non-perturbative admixture of the charmed quarks in the proto…
We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) soft and virtual QCD corrections for the partonic cross section of colourless-final state processes in hadronic collisions. The results are valid to all orders in the dimensional regularization parameter $\ep$. The dependence of the results on a particular process is given through finite contributions to the one and two-loop amplitudes. To evaluate the accuracy of the soft-virtual approximation we compare it with the full NNLO result for Drell-Yan and Higgs boson production via gluon fusion. We also provide a universal expression for the hard…
We study Real and Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering in a model based on Regge trajectories and two-gluon exchange. In the kinematic regime of current experiments, the hadronic component of the outgoing real photon plays a major role. We analyze the spin structure of Compton scattering at large momentum transfer and give predictions for several spin asymmetries. In the DVCS channel, a fairly good agreement is obtained for the recently measured beam spin and charge asymmetries.
We compute the next-to-leading order virtual QCD corrections to Higgs pair production via gluon fusion. We present analytic results for the two-loop contributions to the spin-0 and spin-2 form factors in the amplitude. The reducible contributions, given by the double-triangle diagrams, are evaluated exactly while the two-loop irreducible diagrams are evaluated by an asymptotic expansion in heavy top quark mass up to and including terms of $\mathcal{O}(1/m_t^8)$. Assuming that the finite top-quark mass effects are of similar size in the entire range of partonic energies we estimate that mass ef…
