In this paper we quantize the Klein--Gordon scalar field coupled to gravity in the instanton representation for spatially homogeneous variables. The construction provides a well-defined Hilbert space of states for generic self-interaction potential V, with a direct link to the semiclassical limit below the Planck scale. Additionally, we compute the Hamilton's equations of motion for this model, performing various consistency checks on the quantum theory.

Instanton representation of Plebanski gravity. Euclidean signature minisuperspace solution

Using the action for the instanton representation of Plebanski gravity (IRPG), we construct minisuperspace solutions restricted to diagonal variables. We have treated the Euclidean signature case with zero cosmological constant, depicting a gravitational analogy to free particle motion. This paper provides a testing ground for the IRPG for a simple case, which will be extended to the full theory in future work.

In this paper we carry out a quantization of gravity coupled to massless spin 1/2 fermions through the instanton representation of Plebanski gravity. We have constructed a Hilbert space of states for this model, and we have computed the Hamilton's equations of motion. The classical equations appear, at a superficial level, to be consistent with the quantum dynamics of the theory.

Instanton representation of Plebanski gravity: IX. Hamiltonian minisuperspace dynamics in undensitized momentum space variables

In this paper we illustrate the dynamics of the instanton representation in the description of vacuum GR in minisuperspace for undensitized variables. We uncover a new class of general solutions in both the degenerate and the nondegenerate sectors of the theory. Additionally, the individual sectors are preserved under Hamiltonian evolution. Finally, we present an algorithm for constructing general solutions by expansion about the isotropic sector.

Finite states in four dimensional quantum gravity. The isotropic minisuperspace Asktekar--Klein--Gordon model

In this paper we construct the generalized Kodama state for the case of a Klein--Gordon scalar field coupled to Ashtekar variables in isotropic minisuperspace by a new method. The criterion for finiteness of the state stems from a minisuperspace reduction of the quantized full theory, rather than the conventional techniques of reduction prior to quantization. Third quantization for scalar and spinor wave functions of the Universe in an extended minisuperspace

We consider the third quantization in quantum cosmology of a minisuperspace extended by the Eisenhart-Duval lift. We study the third quantization based on both Klein-Gordon type and Dirac-type equations in the extended minisuperspace. Spontaneous creation of "universes" is investigated upon the quantization of a simple model. We find that the quantization of the Dirac-type wave function reveals that the number density of universes is expressed by the Fermi-Dirac distribution. We also calculate the entanglement entropy of the multi-universe system.

On Noncommutative Minisuperspace and the Friedmann equations

In this paper we present noncommutative version of scalar field cosmology. We find the noncommutative Friedmann equations as well as the noncommutative Klein-Gordon equation. Interestingly the noncommutative contributions are only present up to second order in the noncommutitive parameter. Finally we conclude that if we want a noncommutative minisuperspace with a constant noncommutative parameter as viable phenomenological model, the noncommuative parameter is very small.

Linear waves on constant radius limits of cosmological black hole spacetimes

In this paper we consider the Klein-Gordon equation on spherically symmetric background spacetimes with a constant area radius. The spacetimes under consideration are Nariai and Plebański-Hacyan, and can be considered constant radius limits of Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter spacetimes. Contrary to common belief, there are perspectives for generalizing the notion of positive and negative frequency in minisuperspace quantum cosmology, even when the wave equation does not admit symmetries. We outline a strategy in doing so when the potential is positive. Also, an underlying unitarity structure shows up. Starting in the framework of the Klein-Gordon type quantization, I am led to a result that relies on global features on the model, and that is possibly related to structures encountered in the refined algebraic quantization scheme.

Quantum Isotropization of the Universe

We consider minisuperspace models constituted of Bianchi I geometries with a free massless scalar field. The classical solutions are always singular (with the trivial exception of flat space-time), and always anisotropic once they begin anisotropic. Exact Semiclassical Evolutions in Relativistic and Nonrelativistic Scalar Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Cosmology

The necessary and sufficient conditions for the exactness of the semiclassical approximation for the solution of the Schrödinger and Klein-Gordon equations are obtained. It is shown that the existence of an exact semiclassical solution of the Schrödinger equation determines both the semiclassical wave function and the interaction potential uniquely up to the choice of the boundary conditions.
