Semi-classical scattering in two dimensions

The semi-classical limit of quantum-mechanical scattering in two dimensions (2D) is developed. We derive the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin and Eikonal results for 2D scattering. No backward or forward glory scattering is present in 2D. Other phenomena, such as rainbow or orbiting do show up.

The semi-relativistic scattering states of the two-body spinless Salpeter equation with the Varshni potential model

In this present work, the scattering state solutions of the Spinless Salpeter equation with the Varshni potential model were investigated. The approximate scattering phase shift, normalization constant, bound state energy, wave number and wave function in the asymptotic region were obtained. The behaviour of the phase shift with the two-body mass index η were discussed and presented.

On the classical-quantum correspondence for the scattering dwell time

Using results from the theory of dynamical systems, we derive a general expression for the classical average scattering dwell time, tau_av. Remarkably, tau_av depends only on a ratio of phase space volumes. We further show that, for a wide class of systems, the average classical dwell time is not in correspondence with the energy average of the quantum Wigner time delay.

On classical and quantum effects at scattering of fast charged particles in ultrathin crystal

Classical and quantum properties of scattering of charged particles in ultrathin crystals are considered. A comparison is made of these two ways of study of scattering process. Photonic Rutherford Scattering: A Classical and Quantum Mechanical Analogy in Ray- and Wave-Optics

Using Fermat's least optical path principle the family of ray-trajectories through a special but common type of a gradient refractive index lens, n(r)=n_0+Δn R/r, is solved analytically. Classical and Quantal Irregular Scatterings with Complex Target

One-dimensional scattering by a target with two internal degrees of freedom is investigated. The damping of resonance peaks and the associated appearance of the fluctuating background in the quantum inelastic scattering amplitudes are found. Examination of the analog classical system reveals a disorderly reaction function, which is then related to the quantum amplitude through a semiclassical argument.

Semiclassical theory of potential scattering for massless Dirac fermions

In this paper we study scattering of two-dimensional massless Dirac fermions by a potential that depends on a single Cartesian variable. Depending on the energy of the incoming particle and its angle of incidence, there are three different regimes of scattering.
