An SO(5)xU(1) gauge-Higgs unification model in the Randall-Sundrum warped space with top and bottom quarks is constructed. Additional fermions on the Planck brane make exotic particles heavy by effectively changing boundary conditions of bulk fermions from those determined by orbifold conditions. Gauge couplings of a top quark multiplet trigger electroweak symmetry breaking by the Hosotani mechanism, simultaneously giving a top quark the observed mass. The bottom quark mass is generated by combination of brane interactions and the Hosotani mechanism, where only one ratio of brane masses is relevant when the scale of brane masses is much larger than the Kaluza-Klein scale (\sim 1.5 TeV). The Higgs mass is predicted to be 49.9 (53.5) GeV for the warp factor 10^{15} (10^{17}). The Wilson line phase turns out π/2 and the Higgs couplings to W and Z vanish so that the LEP2 bound for the Higgs mass is evaded. In the flat spacetime limit the electroweak symmetry is unbroken.
The consequences of Gauge-Yukawa Unification (GYU) in supersymmetric unified models on low energy physics are analyzed. We find that the observed top-bottom mass hierarchy can be explained by supersymmetric GYU and different models can be experimentally distinguished if the top quark mass does not exceed the value $\sim 185$ GeV.
In the gauge-Higgs unification scenario 4D Higgs fields are unified with gauge fields in higher dimensions. The electroweak model is constructed in the Randall-Sundrum warped space. The electroweak symmetry is dynamically broken by the Hosotani mechanism due to the top quark contribution. The Higgs mass is predicted to be around 50 GeV with the vanishing ZZH and WWH couplings so that the LEP2 bound for the Higgs mass is evaded.
The idea of Gauge-Yukawa Unification (GYU) based on the principle of reduction of couplings is elucidated. We show how the observed top-bottom mass hierarchy can be explained in terms of supersymmetric GYU by considering an example of the minimal supersymmetric GUT.
The two-loop ``top-down'' renormalization group flow for the top, bottom and tau Yukawa couplings is explored in the framework of supersymmetric grand unification; reproduction of the physical bottom and tau masses is required. Instead of following the recent trend of implementing exact Yukawa coupling unification i) a search for infrared (IR) fixed lines and fixed points in the m(top)-tan(beta) plane is performed and ii) the extent to which these imply approximate Yukawa unification is determined. Two IR fixed lines, intersecting in an IR fixed point, are located. The more attractive fixed li…
After some general remarks about SU_L(4) electroweak unification, the model is extended to SU_L(4)xU_X(1) to accomodate fractionally charged quarks. The unification scale is expected to be in TeV region. A right-handed Majorana neutrino along with known lepton are put in the fundamental representation of SU_L(4) with Y_X=0. The see-saw mechanism for neutrino masses and flavor mixing in neutrino sector is a natural feature of the model. The lepton number violating processes can occure through dilepton gauge bosons contained in the model.
We introduce the sequence of spontaneous symmetry breaking of a coupling between Pati-Salam and electroweak symmetries $SU(4)_{PS} \otimes SU(4)_{EW}$ in order to establish a mathematically consistent relation among the coupling constants at grand unification energy scale. With the values of baryon minus lepton quantum numbers of known quarks and leptons, by including right-handed neutrinos, we can find the mixing angle relations at different energy levels up to the electromagnetic $U(1)_{EM}$ scale.
We propose a new model of 5D $SU(3)\otimes U(1)_X$ gauge-Higgs unification with a successful electroweak symmetry breaking and a realistic Higgs boson mass. In our model, the representations of the fermions are very simple, the ${\bf 3}, \overline{\bf 3}$ and $\bf \overline{15}$ representations of $SU(3)$ gauge group. Employing the anti-periodic boundary conditions for $\bf \overline{15}$ reduces massless exotic fermions and simplifies the brane localized mass terms. We calculate the 1-loop Higgs potential in detail and find that a realistic electroweak symmetry breaking and the observed Higgs…
It was shown recently that the original SU(5) theory of Georgi and Glashow, augmented with an adjoint fermionic multiplet 24_F, can be made compatible both with neutrino masses and gauge coupling unification. In particular, the model predicts that either electroweak-triplet states are light, within the reach of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), or proton decay will become accessible at the next generation of megaton-scale facilities. In this paper, we present the computation of the correlation function between the electroweak-triplet masses and the unification scale at the next-to-next-to-leadi…
The recent results of neutrino experiments indicate the existence of the right-handed neutrinos with masses around intermediate scale, which affects the prediction of the bottom-tau mass ratio. In the minimal supersymmetric standard model, this effect largely depends on the right-handed neutrino mass scale and then may severely limit its lower bound. In this letter, we show that in the case of strong coupling unification the bottom-tau mass ratio is little affected by the presence of the right-handed neutrinos. This is because of the infrared fixed-point behavior of Yukawa couplings, which is …
We present a supersymmetric SU(5) x U(1)_H model, free from gauge anomalies, where the Abelian factor U(1)_H, introduced to account for the hierarchy of fermion masses and mixings, is broken by the same adjoint representations of SU(5) that also break the GUT symmetry. The model predicts approximate, but never exact, bottom-tau Yukawa unification. The deviations are related to group theoretical coefficients and can naturally be at the level of 10%-20%.
We propose an alternative unification scenario where the Higgs self-coupling (lambda) is unified with the electroweak SU(2)L x U(1)Y interactions at an intermediate scale MGH, lower than the GUT scale. In this model the SM remains valid up to this scale MGH, where the gauge and Higgs couplings satisfy the unification condition g1 = g2 = f(lambda). Two variants for this unification condition are discussed; scenario I is defined through the linear relation: g1 = g2 = k lambda(MGH), while scenario II assumes a quadratic relation: g1**2 = g2**2 = k lambda(MGH). An attractive feature of this class …
An analysis is made on bottom-tau Yukawa unification in supersymmetric (SUSY) SU(5) grand unified theory (GUT) in the framework of minimal supergravity, in which the parameter space is restricted by some experimental constraints including Br(b to s gamma) and muon g-2. The bottom-tau unification can be accommodated to the measured branching ratio Br(b to s gamma) if superparticle masses are relatively heavy and higgsino mass parameter μis negative. On the other hand, if we take the latest muon g-2 data to require positive SUSY contributions, then wrong-sign threshold corrections at SUSY scale …
I discuss the properties of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, in the case in which there is a dynamical breakdown of the electroweak symmetry induced by the formation of condensates of the third generation of quarks and their supersymmetric partners. The top quark and Higgs mass predictions derived within this scheme are essentially equivalent to those ones obtained from the requirement of bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification in a supersymmetric grand unified scenario, if the compositeness scale is identified with the grand unification scale. I give an explanation o…
The condition of unification of gauge couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model provides successful predictions for the weak mixing angle as a function of the strong gauge coupling and the supersymmetric threshold scale. In addition, in some scenarios, e.g.\ in the minimal SO(10) model, the tau lepton and the bottom and top quark Yukawa couplings unify at the grand unification scale. The condition of Yukawa unification leads naturally to large values of $\tanβ$, implying a proper top quark--bottom quark mass hierarchy. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of unification of…
We propose a new minimal supersymmetric scenario with virtually no fine-tuning in the electroweak symmetry breaking. It favors light supersymmetric spectrum below a few TeV and predicts definite relations among stop and gaugino masses and LSP higgsino with $μ\lesssim 200$ GeV, which are within the reach of coming LHC experiment.
We discuss the unification of the bottom quark and tau lepton Yukawa couplings within the framework of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. We compare the allowed regions of the $m_t$-$\tan β$ plane to those in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and find that over much of the parameter space the deviation between the predictions of two models is small, and nearly always much less than the effect of current theoretical and experimental uncertainties in the bottom quark mass and the strong coupling constant. However over some regions of parameter space top-bottom Yukawa uni…
Two models with $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_N$ gauge symmetry are considered. We show that the masslessness of the photon does not prevent the neutrinos from acquiring Majorana masses. That is, there is no relation between the VEVs of Higgs fields and the electromagnetic gauge invariance contrary to what has been claimed recently.
The radiative electroweak symmetry breaking, the unification of third-generation Yukawa couplings, and flavor-changing rare decay are investigated in two types of supersymmetric SO(10) scenarios taking into account of the effects of neutrino physics, i.e. the observed large generation mixing and tiny mass scale. The first scenario is minimal, including right-handed neutrinos at intermediate scale with the unification of third-generation Yukawa couplings. Another is the case that the large mixing of atmospheric neutrinos originates from the charged-lepton sector. Under the SO(10)-motivated boun…
The dynamics of five dimensional Wilson line phases at finite temperature is studied in the one-loop approximation. We show that at temperatures of order $T\sim 1/L$, where L is the length of the compact space, the gauge symmetry is always restored and the electroweak phase transition appears to be of first order. We focus on a specific model where the Wilson line phase is identified with the Higgs field (gauge-Higgs unification). The transition is of first order even for values of the Higgs mass above the current experimental limit. If large localized gauge kinetic terms are present, the tran…
$SU(2)_L$ doublet Higgs fields are unified with gauge fields in the $U(3)_s \times U(3)_w$ model of Antoniadis, Benakli and Quirós' on the orbifold $M^4 \times (T^2/Z_2)$. The effective potential for the Higgs fields (the Wilson line phases) is evaluated. The electroweak symmetry is dynamically broken to $U(1)_{EM}$ by the Hosotani mechanism. There appear light Higgs particles. There is a phase transition as the moduli parameter of the complex structure of $T^2$ is varied.
Third family Yukawa unification, as suggested by minimal SO(10) unification, is revisited in light of recent experimental measurements and theoretical progress. We characterize unification in a semi-model-independent fashion, and conclude that finite $b$ quark mass corrections from superpartners must be nonzero, but much smaller than naively would be expected. We show that a solution that does not require cancellations of dangerously large tanbeta effects in observables implies that scalar superpartner masses should be substantially heavier than the Z scale, and perhaps inaccessible to all cur…
In the MSSM extended by a complete vectorlike family, precise top, bottom and tau Yukawa coupling unification can be achieved assuming SUSY threshold corrections which are typical for comparable superpartner masses. Furthermore, the unification is possible with a large unified coupling, implying that all three fermion masses can be simultaneously close to their IR fixed points. Assuming unified Yukawa couplings of order one or larger, the preferred common scale of new physics (superpartners and vectorlike matter) is in the 3 TeV to 30 TeV range, with larger couplings favoring smaller scales. S…
Some of basic problems in neutrino physics such as new energy scales, the enormous gap between neutrino masses and the lightest charged fermion mass, possible existance of sterile neutrinos in eV mass range are studied in the local gauge group $SU_{L}(4)\times U(1)$ for electroweak unification, which does not contain fermions with exotic electric charges. It is shown that neutrino mass spectrum can be decoupled from that of the other fermions. Further normal seesaw mechanism for neutrinos, with right handed neutrino Majorana masses to be of order $M\gg M_{\text{weak}}$ as well a new eV-scale c…
In the gauge-Higgs unification scenario the Higgs field is unified with gauge fields in higher dimensional gauge theory. The 4D Higgs field $H(x)$ corresponds to 4D fluctuations of the Aharonov-Bohm phase (Wilson line phase) $θ_H$ in the extra-dimension. An $SO(5)\times U(1)$ gauge-Higgs unification model in the Randall-Sundrum warped spacetime with top and bottom quarks is presented. Gauge couplings of the top quark multiplet induce electroweak symmetry breaking by the Hosotani mechanism. The effective potential $V_\eff (θ_H)$ is found to be minimized at $θ_H = \onehalf π$ and the Higgs mass …
We make a complete analysis of the Yukawa coupling unification in SU(5) extensions of the MSSM in the framework of the radiative symmetry breaking scenario. Both logarithmic and finite threshold corrections of sparticles have been included in the determination of the gauge and Yukawa couplings at M_Z. The effect of the heavy masses of each model in the renormalization group equations is also included. We find that in the minimal SU(5) model b-tau Yukawa unification can be achieved for too large a value of alpha_s. On the other hand the Peccei-Quinn version of the Missing Doublet model, with th…
The standard model extended by three vector-like families with masses of order 1 TeV -- 100 TeV allows for unification of gauge couplings. The values of gauge couplings at the electroweak scale are highly insensitive to fundamental parameters. The grand unification scale is large enough to avoid the problem with fast proton decay. The electroweak minimum of the Higgs potential is stable.
Quantum weakdynamics (QWD) as an SU(3)_I gauge theory with the Theta vacuum term is considered to be the unification of the electroweak interaction as an SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y gauge theory. The grand unification of SU(3)_I x SU(3)_C beyond the standard model SU(3)_C x SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y is established by the group SU(3)_I. The grand unified interactions break down to weak and strong interactions at a new grand unification scale 10^{3} GeV, through dynamical spontaneous symmetry breaking (DSSB); the weak and strong coupling constants are the same, alpha_i = alpha_s ~ 0.12, at this scale. DSSB is reali…
We examine the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with an additional requirement of strict b - tau unification in the region of small tan(beta). We find that the parameter space becomes completely limited below about 1 TeV by physical constraints alone, without a fine-tuning constraint. We study the resulting phenomenological consequences, and point out several ways of falsifying the adopted b - tau unification assumption. We also comment on the effect of a constraint from the non-observation of proton decay.
We obtain the mass spectrum and the Higgs self-coupling of the two Higgs doublet model (THDM) in an alternative unification scenario where the parameters of the Higgs potential $λ_i$ ($i=1,2,3,4,5$) are determined by imposing their unification with the electroweak gauge couplings. An attractive feature of this scenario is the possibility to determine the Higgs boson masses by evolving the $λ_i$,s from the electroweak-Higgs unification scale $M_{GH}$ down to the electroweak scale. The unification condition for the gauge ($g_1,g_2$) and Higgs couplings is written as $g_1=g_2=f(λ_i)$, where $g_1=…
We present the complete computation of the tree-level and the next-to-leading order electroweak contributions to bottom-squark pair production at the LHC. The computation is performed within the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. We discuss the numerical impact of these contributions in several supersymmetric scenarios.
We examine the Higgs mass parameters and electroweak symmetry breaking in supersymmetric orbifold field theories in which the 4-dimensional Higgs fields originate from higher-dimensional gauge supermultiplets. It is noted that such gauge-Higgs unification leads to a specific boundary condition on the Higgs mass parameters at the compactification scale, which is independent of the details of supersymmetry breaking mechanism. With this boundary condition, phenomenologically viable parameter space of the model is severely constrained by the condition of electroweak symmetry breaking for supersymm…
A supersymmetric 5D SU(5) grand unification is considered. The SU(5) is broken down to $G_{SM}=SU(3)\times SU(2)\times U(1)$ by the $Z_2\times Z_2'$ assignment of the bulk field(s). The matter fields are located at the fixed point(s). In the bulk, a Higgs multiplet $\bar 5_H$(containing the bottom doublet $H_1$) and the SU(5) gauge multiplet are located. At one fixed point, $H_2$(the top doublet) and the standard model matter multiplets are presented. Because of the difference of the locations of $H_1$ and $H_2$, one can obtain a hierarchy between top and bottom Yukawa couplings. We also prese…
We consider $b$-$τ$ unification in supersymmetric $SU(5)$ grand unified theories (GUTs) with extra matters. The renormalization group runnings of $b$ and $τ$ Yukawa coupling constants may be significantly affected by the existence of extra matters. If the extra matters interact with the standard model particles (and their superpartners) only through gauge interaction, the ratio of the $b$ to $τ$ Yukawa coupling constants at the GUT scale becomes suppressed compared to the case without extra matters. This is mainly due to the change of the renormalization group running of the $SU(3)_C$ gauge co…
The purpose of this paper is threefold: a) Check if the rather poor Standard Model (SM) fit to all electroweak data can be improved in its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM); b) Check what constraints present electroweak data has on the parameter space of the supergravity inspired Constrained MSSM (CMSSM); c) Check if with the present high precision of the gauge coupling constants exact gauge coupling unification is still possible. The value of tanβin the CMSSM is constrained to be above 6.5, while the value of the gaugino masses at the GUT scale has to be above 220 GeV, which corresponds…
The electroweak currents of quarks and leptons in the $SO(5) \times U(1)$ gauge-Higgs unification model in the Randall-Sundrum warped space are determined. The 4D gauge couplings deviate from those in the standard model and the weak universality is slightly violated. It is shown that the model is free from 4D anomalies and the deviations of the gauge couplings are tiny, less than 1% except for the top quark. The $Zt_L \bar t_L$, $Zt_R \bar t_R$, $Zb_L \bar b_L$ and $Zb_R \bar b_R$ couplings deviate from those in the standard model by -7%, 18%, 0.3% and 0.9% with the warp factor $z_L = 10^{15}$…
Warped extra dimensions allow a novel way of solving the hierarchy problem, with all fundamental mass parameters of the theory naturally of the order of the Planck scale. The observable value of the Higgs vacuum expectation value is red-shifted, due to the localization of the Higgs field in the extra dimension. It has been recently observed that, when the gauge fields propagate in the bulk, unification of the gauge couplings may be achieved. Moreover, the propagation of fermions in the bulk allows for a simple solution to potentially dangerous proton decay problems. However, bulk gauge fields …
The precision electroweak program, including weak neutral current (WNC), $Z$-pole, and high energy collider experiments, has been the primary prediction and test of electroweak unification. It has established that the standard model (SM) is correct and unique to first approximation, establishing the gauge principle as well as the SM gauge group and representations; shown that the SM is correct at loop level, confirming the basic principles of renormalizable gauge theory and allowing the successful prediction or constraint on $m_t$, $α_s$, and $M_H$; severely constrained new physics at the TeV …
A model for electroweak unification of quarks and leptons, in a gauge group $SU_{C}(3)\times SU(4)\times U_{X}(1)$ is constructed. The model requires, three generations of quarks and leptons which are replicas (mirror) of the standard quarks and leptons. The gauge group $SU(4)\times U_{X}(1)$ is broken in such a way so as to reproduce standard model and to generate heavy masses for the vector bosons ($W^{\pm}_{R_μ}$, $Z^{\prime}_μ$,$Z^{\prime\prime}_μ$), the leptoquarks and mirror fermions. It is shown lower limit on mass scale of mirror fermions is $m_{E}\geq\frac{m_{Z}}{2}$, $E^{-}$ being th…
We present a unified picture of flavor and electroweak symmetry breaking based on a nonlinear sigma model spontaneously broken at the TeV scale. Flavor and Higgs bosons arise as pseudo-Goldstone modes. Explicit collective symmetry breaking yields stable vacuum expectation values and masses protected at one loop by the little-Higgs mechanism. The coupling to the fermions generates well-definite mass textures--according to a U(1) global flavor symmetry--that correctly reproduce the mass hierarchies and mixings of quarks and leptons. The model is more constrained than usual little-Higgs models be…
We propose here - for the first time in the literature, to our best knowledge - an electroweak unification based on the $SU(5)_{L}\times U(1)_{Y}$ gauge group. The spontaneous symmetry breaking takes place in the manner $SU(5)_{L}\times U(1)_{Y} \rightarrow U(1)_{em}$, due to a particular Higgs sector consisting of five scalar quintuplets. Each scalar quintuplet acquires its own vacuum expectation value, by means of a proper parametrization which is worked out once the overall vacuum expectation value in the model is established. The decoupling of the low energy regime (corresponding to the St…
We make a systematic theoretical analysis of the masses and their variation with energy by solving the renormalization group equation (RGE) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The unification fermion masses of around 115 GeV at GeV scale has been derived by Deo and Maharana. Here we undertake the unfinished but the important task of calculating the masses and their running. The unification mass and group theoretic constants for the model are known. The top mass and its descent is studied very carefully. We find that the Ramond,Roberts and Ross value of the Wolfenstein paramete…
In the presence of ${\bf 126 + \bar{126}}$ Higgs multiplets in a SO(10) theory, the fermion masses get contributions from an induced vacuum expectation value (VEV) of a $SU(2)_L$ doublet residing in ${\bf 126}$ which differentiates between quarks and leptons by a relative sign leading to a significant correction to the prediction of the mass ratio of the bottom quark and the tau lepton for ranges of the mass of this extra doublet. We perform a two-loop renormalization group analysis of the minimal version of the one-step supersymmetric SO(10) model to display this and re-calculate the correcti…
The dominant contribution to the Higgs production in association with bottom quark pair at the LHC is gluon-gluon fusion parton subprocess. We present a complete calculation of the next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak (EW) corrections to this channel. The other small contributions with quarks in the initial state are calculated at tree level. We find that the NLO EW corrections can suppress the leading order (LO) contributions significantly.
We study the Yukawa unification, in particular, the unification of the Yukawa coupling constants of $b$ and $τ$, in the framework of supersymmetric (SUSY) model. We concentrate on the model in which the SUSY breaking scalar masses are of the order of the gravitino mass while the gaugino masses originate from the effect of anomaly mediation and hence are one-loop suppressed relative to the gravitino mass. We perform an accurate calculation of the Yukawa coupling constants of $b$ and $τ$ at the grand unified theory (GUT) scale, including relevant renormalization group effects and threshold corre…
Grand unified theories often predict unification of Yukawa couplings (e.g., $h_{b} = h_τ$), and thus certain relations among fermion masses. The latter can distinguish these from models that predict only coupling constant unification. The implications of Yukawa couplings of the heavy-family in the supersymmetric extension of the standard model (when embedded in a GUT) are discussed. In particular, uncertainties associated with $m_{t}$ and $m_{b}$, threshold corrections at the low-scale, and threshold and nonrenormalizable-operator corrections associated with a grand-unified sector at the high-…
We present the first complete calculation of the one-loop electroweak effect in the process of semi-inclusive bottom-Higgs production at LHC in the MSSM. The size of the electroweak contribution depends on the choice of the final produced neutral Higgs boson, and can be relevant, in some range of the input parameters. A comparison of the one-loop results obtained in two different renormalization schemes is also performed, showing a very good NLO scheme independence. We further comment on two possible, simpler, approximations of the full NLO result, and on their reliabilty.
It is shown how an $SU(3)^{N}$ nonsupersymmetric quiver gauge theory can accommodate the standard model with three chiral families and unify all of $SU(3)_C$, $SU(2)_L$ and $U(1)_Y$ couplings with high accuracy at one unique scale estimated as $M \simeq 4$ TeV.
We analyze the electroweak phase transition at finite temperature in a model of gauge-Higgs unification where the fermion mass hierarchy including top quark mass, a viable electroweak symmetry breaking and an observed Higgs mass are successfully reproduced. To study the phase transition, we derive the general formula of the 1-loop effective potential at finite temperature by using the $ζ$ function regularization method. It is remarkable that the functions determining the Kaluza-Klein mass spectrum have only to be necessary in calculations. This potential can be applicable to any higher dimensi…
The question of CP violating phases in supersymmetry and electric dipole moments (EDMs) is considered within the framework of supergravity grand unification (GUT) models with a light ($\stackrel{<}{\sim}$1 TeV) mass spectrum. In the minimal model, the nearness of the t-quark Landau pole automatically suppresses the t-quark cubic soft breaking phase at the electroweak scale. However, current EDM data require the quadratic soft breaking phase to be small at the electroweak scale unless tan$β$ is small (tan$β\stackrel{<}{\sim}$3), and the EDM data combined with the requirement of electroweak symm…
The Higgs boson is unified with gauge fields in the gauge-Higgs unification. The $SO(5) \times U(1)$ gauge-Higgs electroweak unification in the Randall-Sundrum warped space yields almost the same phenomenology at low energies as the standard model, and gives many predictions for the Higgs couplings and new $W', Z'$ bosons around $6 \sim 8$ TeV, which can be tested at 14 TeV LHC. The gauge-Higgs grand unification is achieved in $SO(11)$ gauge theory. It suggests the existence of the sixth dimension (GUT dimension) in addition to the fifth dimension (electroweak dimension). The proton decay is n…
We propose an $A_4$ extension of the Standard Model with a Lepton Quarticity symmetry correlating dark matter stability with the Dirac nature of neutrinos. The flavor symmetry predicts (i) a generalized bottom-tau mass relation involving all families, (ii) small neutrino masses are induced a la seesaw, (iii) CP must be significantly violated in neutrino oscillations, (iv) the atmospheric angle $θ_{23}$ lies in the second octant, and (v) only the normal neutrino mass ordering is realized.
Higgs-boson production in association with bottom quarks is an important discovery channel for supersymmetric Higgs particles at hadron colliders for large values of tan(beta). We present the complete O(alpha) electroweak and O(alpha_s) strong corrections to associated bottom-Higgs production through bb fusion in the MSSM and improve this next-to-leading-order prediction by known two-loop contributions to the Higgs self-energies, as provided by the program FeynHiggs. Choosing proper renormalization and input-parameter schemes, the bulk of the corrections (in particular the leading terms for ta…
The mass spectra of the standard model particles are reproduced in the $SO(11)$ gauge-Higgs grand unification in the six-dimensional warped space without introducing exotic light fermions. Light neutrino masses are explained by the gauge-Higgs seesaw mechanism. We evaluate the effective potential of the 4d Higgs boson appearing as a fluctuation mode of the Aharonov-Bohm phase $θ_H$ in the extra-dimensioal space, and show that the dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking takes place with the Higgs boson mass $m_H \sim 125\,$GeV and $θ_H \sim 0.1$. The Kaluza-Klein mass scale in the fifth dimensi…
A natural gradual extension of the idea of Grand Unification is to attempt to relate the gauge and Yukawa couplings; Gauge-Yukawa Unification (GYU). However, within the framework of renormalizable field theories, there exists no realistic symmetry that leads to a GYU. Here we propose an approach to GYU which is based on the principle of the reduction of couplings and finiteness in supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories. We elucidate how the observed top-bottom mass hierarchy can be explained in terms of supersymmetric GYU by considering an example of the $SU(5)$ Finite Unified Theory. It is exp…
We study the relationship between the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ Yukawa coupling and the pole mass for the bottom and top quarks at the two-loop electroweak order ${\cal O}(α^2)$ in the gaugeless limit of the standard model. We also consider the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ to pole mass relationships at this order, which include tadpole contributions to ensure the gauge independence of the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ masses. In order to suppress numerically large tadpole contributions, we propose a redefinition of the running heavy-quark mass in terms of the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ Yukawa coupling. We…
