High resolution photoemission measurements have been carried out on non-superconducting LaOFeAs parent compound and various superconducting R(O1-xFx)FeAs (R=La, Ce and Pr) compounds. We found that the parent LaOFeAs compound shows a metallic character. Through extensive measurements, we have identified several common features in the electronic structure of these Fe-based compounds: (1). 0.2 eV feature in the valence band; (2). A universal 13~16 meV feature; (3). A clear Fermi cutoff showing zero leading-edge shift in the superconducting state;(4). Lack of superconducting coherence peak(s); (5). Near EF spectral weight suppression with decreasing temperature. These universal features can provide important information about band structure, superconducting gap and pseudogap in these Fe-based materials.

We use core level and valence band soft x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (SXPES) to investigate electronic structure of new BiS$_{2}$ layered superconductor LaO$_{1-x}$F$_{x}$BiS$_{2}$. Core level spectra of doped samples show a new spectral feature at the lower binding energy side of the Bi 4${f}$ main peak, which may be explained by core-hole screening with metallic states near the Fermi level ($E_{\rm F}$). Experimental electronic structure and its ${x}$ dependence (higher binding energy shift of the valence band as well as appearance of new states near $E_{\rm F}$ having dominant Bi 6${p}$…
We review angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) results on the high Tc superconductors, focusing primarily on results obtained on the quasi-two dimensional cuprate Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 and its single layer counterpart Bi2Sr2CuO6. The topics treated include the basics of photoemission and methodologies for analyzing spectra, normal state electronic structure including the Fermi surface, the superconducting energy gap, the normal state pseudogap, and the electron self-energy as determined from photoemission lineshapes.
Recent angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) studies of the high Tc superconductors are reviewed. Amongst the topics discussed are: the spectral function interpretation of ARPES data and sum rules; studies of the momentum distribution and the Fermi surface (FS); dispersion of electronic states, flat bands and superlattice effects; unusual lineshapes and their temperature dependence; the question of bilayer splitting; detailed studies of the superconducting gap and its anisotropy; and, finally, studies of the pseudogap and evolution of the FS with doping in the underdoped materials.
We have analyzed scanning tunneling spectra of two electron-doped cuprates Pr0.88LaCe0.12CuO4 (Tc = 21 K and 24 K) and compared them with tunneling spectrum of hole-doped La1.84Sr0.16CuO4 and effective electron-boson spectral function of hole-doped La1.97Sr0.03CuO4 (extracted from angle-resolved photoemission spectrum). We have also analyzed tunneling spectra and angle-resolved photoemission spectra for hole-doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8. These results unambiguously rule out magnetic pairing mechanism in both electron- and hole-doped cuprates and support polaronic/bipolaronic superconductivity in hole-d…
The low energy excitation spectrum is found for a layered superconductor vortex with a small number of impurities inside the vortex core. All levels are found to be correlated. This leads to the strong enhancement of conductivity in superclean layered superconductors.
Structural and physical properties of layered chalcogenide superconductors are summarized. In particular, we review the remarkable properties of the Fe-chalcogenide superconductors, FeSe and FeTe-based materials. Furthermore, we introduce the recently-discovered new BiS2-based layered superconductors and discuss its prospects.
Recent developments in the techniques of ultrafast pump-probe photoemission have made possible the search for collective modes in strongly correlated systems out of equilibrium. Including inelastic scattering processes and a retarded interaction, we simulate time- and angle- resolved photoemission spectroscopy (trARPES) to study the amplitude mode of a d-wave superconductor, a collective mode excited through the nonlinear light-matter coupling to the pump pulse. We find that the amplitude mode oscillations of the d-wave order parameter occur in phase at a single frequency that is twice the qua…
We have investigated the electronic structures of newly discovered superconductor FeSe1-x by bulk-sensitive photoemission spectroscopy (PES). The large Fe 3d spectral weight is located in the vicinity of the Fermi level (EF) and it decreases steeply toward EF . Compared with results of band structure calculations, narrowing the Fe 3d band width and the energy shift of the band toward EF are found, suggesting a mass enhancement due to the weak electron correlation effect. Meanwhile, Fe 2p core-level PES reveals a strong itinerant character of Fe 3d electrons. These features are very similar to …
We conclude that arguments of Norman et al. in their Comment do not provide a significant basis for their claim that the geometric mechanism for explaining the observations reported by them is not viable. More generally, our study highlights the importance of assessing structural issues before invoking exotic mechanisms for explaining unusual spectroscopic observations, especially in complex materia.
The electron-doped infinite-layer superconductor Sr0.9La0.1CuO2 is studied with x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). A nonaqueous chemical etchant is shown to effectively remove contaminants and to yield surfaces from which signals intrinsic to the superconductor dominate. These data are compared to measurements from hole-doped La1.85Sr0.15CuO4, from undoped La2CuO4, and from electron-doped Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4-d. The Cu 2p core level is consistent with a lower value of the O 2p to Cu 3d charge transfer energy D than in hole-doped cuprates. A clear Fermi edge is observed in the valence band reg…
It is shown that the electric charge of vortices can result in a helical instability of straight vortex lines in layered superconductors, particularly Bi-based cuprates or organic superconductors. This instability may result in a phase transition to a uniformly twisted vortex state, which could be detected by torque magnetometry, neutron diffraction, electromagnetic or calorimetric measurements.
We analyze the use of layered superconductors as anisotropic metamaterials. Layered superconductors can have a negative refraction index in a wide frequency range for arbitrary incident angles. Indeed, low-Tc (s-wave) superconductors allow to produce artificial heterostructures with low losses for T<<Tc. However, the real part of their in-plane effective permittivity is very large. Moreover, even at low temperatures, layered high-Tc superconductors have a large in-plane normal conductivity, producing large losses (due to d-wave symmetry). Therefore, it is difficult to enhance the evanescent mo…
Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) has been performed on the single- to triple-layered Bi-family high-{\it T$_c$} superconductors (Bi$_2$Sr$_2$Ca$_{n-1}$Cu$_n$O$_{2n+4}$, $\it{n}$=1-3). We found a sharp quasiparticle peak as well as a pseudogap at the Fermi level in the triple-layered compound. Comparison among three compounds has revealed a universal rule that the characteristic energies of superconducting and pseudogap behaviors are scaled with the maximum {\it T$_c$}.
Electronic band structure of boron-rich low-temperature superconductors UB12-like dodecaboride YB12 and CaB6-like hexaboride YB6 are investigated using the first-principle FLMTO calculations and compared with one for layered YB2 and the new "medium-Tc" superconductor MgB2 diborides.
In this paper, we review some of the work our group has done in the past few years to obtain the electron self-energy of high temperature superconductors by analysis of angle-resolved photoemission data. We focus on three examples which have revealed: (1) a d-wave superconducting gap, (2) a collective mode in the superconducting state, and (3) pairing correlations in the pseudogap phase. In each case, although a novel result is obtained which captures the essense of the data, the conventional physics used leads to an incomplete picture. This indicates that new physics needs to be developed to …
Using the non-equilibrium Keldysh formalism, we solve the equations of motion for electron-phonon superconductivity, including an ultrafast pump field. We present results for time-dependent photoemission spectra out of equilibrium which probes the dynamics of the superconducting gap edge. The partial melting of the order by the pump field leads to oscillations at twice the melted gap frequency, a hallmark of the Higgs or amplitude mode. Thus the Higgs mode can be directly excited through the nonlinear effects of an electromagnetic field and detected without any additional symmetry breaking.
We performed high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on triple-layered high-Tc cuprate Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+delta. We have observed the full energy dispersion (electron and hole branches) of Bogoliubov quasiparticles and determined the coherence factors above and below EF as a function of momentum from the spectral intensity as well as from the energy dispersion based on BCS theory. The good quantitative agreement between the experiment and the theoretical prediction suggests the basic validity of BCS formalism in describing the superconducting state of cuprates.
Cobalt oxide superconductor NaxCoO2.yH2O is studied by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). We report the Fermi surface (FS) topology and electronic structure near the Fermi level (EF) of NaxCoO2.yH2O. Our result indicates the presence of the hexagonal FS centered at G point, while the small pocket FSs along G-K direction are absent similar to NaxCoO2. The top of the eg' band, which is expected in band calculations to form the small pocket FSs, extends to within 20 - 50 meV below EF, more closer to EF than in NaxCoO2. We discuss its possible role in superconductivity, comparing w…
We discuss the scenario of two-step magnetic ordering in layered high temperature superconductors after charge ordering. As the temperature decreases, the transition from 3D Heisenberg spin behavior to 2D XY coupling of the Cu spins occurs at Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless temperature in dielectric stripes. Further temperature decreasing leads to the 3D spin glass transition.
Stability of standing flux-antiflux front in anisotropic layered superconductors is considered. We describe two assisting mechanisms destabilizing the standing vortex-antivortex front. There are anisotropy of the layered superconductors and the heat, released by the vortex dynamics. We present the conditions of the front stability for various anisotropy and heating parameters. We predict that even small vortex-antivortex heating can result in front instability. The characteristic size of the unstable pattern is estimated.
We report the Fermi surfaces of the superconductor Sr2RuO4 and the non-superconductor Sr1.8Ca0.2RuO4 probed by bulk-sensitive high-energy angle-resolved photoemission. It is found that there is one square-shaped hole-like, one square-shaped electron-like and one circle-shaped electron-like Fermi surface in both compounds. These results provide direct evidence for nesting instability giving rise to magnetic fluctuations. Our study clarifies that the electron correlation effects are changed with composition depending on the individual band.
We review recent work on the theory for pump/probe photoemission spectroscopy of electron-phonon mediated superconductors in both the normal and the superconducting states. We describe the formal developments that allow one to solve the Migdal-Eliashberg theory in nonequilibrium for an ultrashort laser pumping field, and explore the solutions which illustrate the relaxation as energy is transferred from electrons to phonons. We focus on exact results emanating from sum rules and approximate numerical results which describe rules of thumb for relaxation processes. In addition, in the supercondu…
Nodal quasiparticles of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 have been studied by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with high momentum and energy resolution. Low-energy tunable photons have enabled us to resolve a small nodal bilayer splitting, unmasking the intrinsic single-particle scattering rate. The nodal scattering rate is abruptly suppressed upon the superconducting transition, and shows a linear energy dependence at low energies, indicating the nontrivial effect of elastic scatterings on the quasiparticles. With increasing energy, the antibonding-band scattering rate becomes higher than the bonding o…
We introduce a simple phenomenological form for the self-energy which allows us to extract important information from angle resolved photoemission data on the high Tc superconductor Bi2212. First, we find a rapid suppression of the single particle scattering rate below Tc for all doping levels. Second, we find that in the overdoped materials the gap Delta at all k-points on the Fermi surface has significant temperature dependence and vanishes near Tc. In contrast, in the underdoped samples such behavior is found only at k-points close to the diagonal. Near (pi,0), Delta is essentially T-indepe…
We demonstrate that the photo-electron counting rate, $P^{(2)}$, measured in two electron coincidence spectroscopy (2$e$-ARPES) experiments, provides unprecedented insight into the nature of topological superconductivity. In particular, we show that the spin dependence of $P^{(2)}$ allows one to detect superconducting spin-triplet correlations that are induced in a topological superconductor even in the absence of an associated triplet superconducting order parameter. This ability to detect spin-triplet correlations allows one to distinguish between two recently proposed scenarios for the micr…
Super-high resolution laser-based angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) measurements have been carried out on the high energy electron dynamics in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi2212) high temperature superconductor. Momentum dependent measurements provide new insights on the nature of high energy kink at 200~400 meV and high energy dispersions. The strong dichotomy between the MDC- and EDC-derived bands is revealed which raises critical issues about its origin and which one represents intrinsic band structure. The MDC-derived high energy features are affected by the high-intensity valence band at higher bin…
Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy is performed on single crystals of the single-layer high-Tc superconductor Bi(2)Sr(2-x)La(x)CuO(6+d) at optimal doping (x=0.4) in order to study in great detail the Zhang-Rice (ZR) singlet band at the Fermi level. Besides the high crystal quality the advantages of a single-layer material are the absence of bilayer effects and the distinct reduction of thermal broadening. Due to the high energy and angle resolution and, most important, due to the controlled variation of the polarization vector of the synchrotron radiation the emission from the ZR single…
We found La2Sb with a layered structure composed of alternate stacking of La square nets and LaSb layers exhibits bulk superconductivity with a critical temperature of 5.3 K. This suggests that the presence of the square net with strong La-La metal bonding is essential for the emergence of superconductivity.
Our valence band photoelectron spectroscopic studies show a temperature dependent spectral weight transfer near the Fermi level in the Fe-based superconductor FeSe1-xTex. Using theoretical band structure calculations we have shown that the weight transfer is due to the temperature induced changes in the Fe(Se,Te)4 tetrahedra. These structural changes lead to shifts in the electron occupancy from the xz/yz and x2-y2 orbitals to the 3z2-r2 orbitals indicating a temperature induced crossover from a metallic state to an Orbital Selective Mott (OSM) Phase. Our study presents the observation of a te…
Thermal fluctuation conductivity for a layered superconductor in perpendicular magnetic field is treated in the frame of the self-consistent Hartree approximation for an arbitrarily strong in-plane electric field. The simultaneous application of the two fields results in a slightly stronger suppression of the superconducting fluctuations, compared to the case when the fields are applied individually.
High resolution laser-based angle-resolved photoemission measurements have been carried out on Bi2Sr2CuO6+d superconductor covering a wide doping range from heavily underdoped to heavily overdoped samples. Two obvious energy scales are identified in the nodal dispersions: one is the well-known 50-80 meV high energy kink and the other is <10 meV low energy kink. The high energy kink increases monotonously in its energy scale with increasing doping and shows weak temperature dependence, while the low energy kink exhibits a non-monotonic doping dependence with its coupling strength enhanced sharp…
We present first measurements of quantum oscillations in the layered oxide superconductor Ag5Pb2O6. From a detailed angular and temperature dependent study of the dHvA effect we determine the electronic structure and demonstrate that the electron masses are very light, m^* is approximately equalt to 1.2 m_e. The Fermi surface we observe is essentially that expected of nearly-free electrons - establishing Ag5Pb2O6 as the first known example of a monovalent, nearly-free electron superconductor at ambient pressure.
We present the solution to London's equations for the magnetic fields of a vortex oriented parallel to the plane, and normal to a crystal face, of a layered superconductor. These expressions account for flux spreading at the superconducting surface, which can change the apparent size of the vortex along the planes by as much as 30%. We compare these expressions with experimental results.
A hybrid discrete-continuous model of layered superconductors with interlayer Josephson couplings of arbitrary range is constructed. The conditions required by gauge invariance and thermodynamical stability of the model are determined. Some important special cases, in particular transition to the classic Lawrence-Doniach model, are discussed. The conditions for presence of alternating solutions and the posibilities to describe such states of a superconductor by the continuum or bi-continuum models are examined. The enhancement of superconductivity caused by the presence of higher order Josephs…
Motivated by recent transport and magnetization measurements in BSCCO samples [B. Khaykovich et. al., Phys. Rev. B 61, R9261 (2000)], we present a simple macroscopic model describing effects of inhomogeneous current distribution and shear in a layered superconductor. Parameters of the model are deduced from a microscopic calculation. Our model accounts for the strong current non-linearities and the re-entrant temperature dependence observed in the experiment.
We have performed systematic angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) on single-layered cuprate superconductor Bi2Sr2CuO6 to elucidate the origin of shadow band. We found that the shadow band is exactly the c(2x2) replica of the main band irrespective of the carrier concentration and its intensity is invariable with respect to temperature, doping, and substitution constituents of block layers. This result rules out the possibility of antiferromagnetic correlation and supports the structural origin of shadow band. ARPES experiments on optimally doped La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 also clarified the…
In this paper we analyze the structure, phase transitions and some transport properties of the vortex system when the external magnetic field lies parallel to the planes in layered superconductors. We show that experimental results for resistivity are qualitatively consistent with numerical simulations that describe the melting of a commensurate rotated lattice. However for some magnetic fields, the structure factor indicates the occurrence of smectic peaks at an intermediate temperature regime.
We establish a new interstitial-vacancy unbinding transition of the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless type, transforming the three dimensional pancake vortex lattice of a decoupled layered superconductor into a defected solid. This transition is the natural finite-field extension of the vortex-anti-vortex unbinding transition establishing the zero-field superfluid stiffness. At finite Josephson coupling, the defect unbinding transition turns into a topological decoupling transition.
In order to study the possible superconductivity at the polar surfaces of 1111-type iron-based superconductors, which is doped with a large amount of holes in spite of the electron doping in bulk materials, we have performed angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) studies on superconducting PrFeAsO$_{1-y}$~crystals. We have indeed observed the opening of a superconducting gap on surface-derived hole pockets as well as on a bulk-derived hole pocket. The superconducting gap is found to open on the surface-derived hole pockets below the bulk $T_c$, which suggests that the surface superc…
A general phenomenological theory describing dynamics of Josephson vortices coupled to wide class of linear waves in layered high-T$_c$ superconductors is developed. The theory is based on hydrodynamic long wave approximation and describes interaction of vortices with electromagnetic, electronic and phonon degrees of freedom on an equal footing. In the limiting cases the proposed theory degenerates to simple models considered earlier. In the framework of the suggested model we undertook the numerical simulation of resistive state in layered superconductors placed in external magnetic field and…
Layered superconductors have provided some interesting fields in condensed matter physics owing to the low dimensionality of their electronic states. For example, the high-Tc (high transition temperature) cuprates and the Fe-based superconductors possess a layered crystal structure composed of a stacking of spacer (blocking) layers and conduction (superconducting) layers, CuO2 planes or Fe-Anion layers. The spacer layers provide carriers to the conduction layers and induce exotic superconductivity. Recently, we have reported superconductivity in the novel BiS2-based layered compound Bi4O4S3. I…
Based on the London equation, we use a rotor-free vector potential ${\bf A}$, and current measurements by a SQUID, to determine the superconducting Pearl length $Λ$, and coherence length $ξ$, of ultra-thin, ring shaped, MoSi films, as a function of thickness $d$ and temperature $T$. We find that $ξ$ is a function of $d$ with a jump at $ξ\sim d \sim 5$nm. At base temperature the superconducting stiffness, defined by $1/λ^2=1/(Λd)$, is an increasing function of $T_c$. Similar behavior, known as the Uemura plot, exist in bulk layered superconductors, but with doping as an implicit parameter. We a…
We performed high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on Nd1.87Ce0.13CuO4, which is located at the boundary of the antiferromagnetic (AF) and the superconducting phase. We observed that the quasiparticle (QP) effective mass around (pi, 0) is strongly enhanced due to the opening of the AF gap. The QP mass and the AF gap are found to be anisotropic, with the largest value near the intersecting point of the Fermi surface and the AF zone boundary. In addition, we observed that the QP peak disappears around the Neel temperature (TN) while the AF pseudogap is gradually filled up at …
We consider the ground state configurations of the Josephson vortex lattice in layered superconductors. Due to commensurability effects with the layered structure, the lattice has multiple configurations, both aligned with layers and rotated at finite angle. At low fields the lattice switches between these configurations via first-order phase transitions. These transitions become more frequent at smaller fields. With increasing magnetic field a dilute lattice transforms first into a sheared dense lattice. With further increase of field, the shear deformation smoothly vanishes at a second-order…
We use microprobe Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy to study the Fermi surface and band dispersion of the CuO2 planes in the high temperature superconductor, YBa2Cu4O8. We find a strong in-plane asymmetry of the electronic structure between directions along a and b axes. The saddle point of the antibonding band lies at a significantly higher energy in the a direction (pi,0) than the b direction (0,pi), whereas the bonding band displays the opposite behavior. We demonstrate that the abnormal band shape is due to a strong asymmetry of the bilayer band splitting, likely caused by a non-tr…
We have performed x-ray photoemission spectroscopy on the system of noncentrosymmetric superconductor, Li$_2$(Pd$_x$Pt$_{1-x}$3)B. For Li$_2$Pt$_3$B, we found 2 major peaks with 2 other weak components, and the band calculations were in agreement with the observation. The assignment of valence band features using the calculated partial density of states determined that Pt 5d and B 2p contribute to the density of states at the Fermi level. The effect of antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling on the band structure might have been probed, and the analysis on the effect of Pt incorporation into the sys…
The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau approach is used to calculate the complex fluctuation conductivity in layered type-II superconductor under magnetic field. Layered structure of the superconductor is accounted for by means of the Lawrence-Doniach model, while the nonlinear interaction term in dynamics is treated within self-consistent Gaussian approximation. In high-$T_{c}$ materials, large portion of the $H-T$ diagram belongs to vortex liquid phase. The expressions summing contributions of all the Landau levels are presented in explicit form which are applicable essentially to the whole phas…
In BiS$_2$-based layered superconductors, the existence of gap nodes on Fermi-surface curves has been suggested from angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements, whereas the conventional $s$-wave gap has been proposed from measurements of superfluid density and thermal conductivity. To reconcile these two distinct experimental results of the gap node, we investigate nonmagnetic impurity effects in the superconductor with a disconnected pocketlike Fermi-surface structure. Then, we claim that the seemingly contradictory situation concerning the gap node is resolved by a concept of dirt…
The angle-resolved photoemission spectra of the superconductor (Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$)Fe$_2$As$_2$ have been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Our results explain the previously obscured origins of all salient features of the ARPES response of this paradigm pnictide compound and reveal the origin of the Lifshitz transition. Comparison of calculated ARPES spectra with the underlying DMFT band structure shows an important impact of final state effects, which results for three-dimensional states in a deviation of the ARPES spectra from the true spectral function. In particular, the ap…
We show that a layered superconductor, described by a two-component order parameter, has a gapped state above the ground state, topologically protected from decay, containing flow and counter flow in the absence of an applied magnetic field. This state is made of skyrmions, breaks time reversal symmetry and produces a weak local magnetic field below the present threshold of detection by $μ$SR and NMR/NQR. We estimate the density of carriers that condense into the pseudogap.
The paraconductivity, originating from critical superconducting order-parameter fluctuations in the vicinity of the critical temperature in a layered superconductor is calculated in the frame of the self-consistent Hartree approximation, for an arbitrarily strong electric field and zero magnetic field. The paraconductivity diverges less steep towards the critical temperature in the Hartree approximation than in the Gaussian one and it shows a distinctly enhanced variation with the electric field. Our results indicate that high electric fields can be effectively used to suppress order-parameter…
We have proposed to employ the microwave S parameters method to measure phase oscillation modes (POMs) in Josephson coupled-layered superconductors. For the first time, in SmBa2Cu3O7 (SmBCO) and YBa2Cu3O7-b (YBCO) at 77 K we have directly observed some POMs far below the Josephson plasma frequency. A series of discrete modes have been observed and discussed qualitatively in the POMs. The method may be a powerful and flexible tool in this field.
The behavior of clean layered superconductors in the presence of a finite electric current and in zero-magnetic field behavior is addressed. The structure of the current temperature phase diagram and the properties of each of the four regions will be explained. We will discuss the expected current voltage and resistance characteristics of each region as well as the effects of finite size and weak disorder on the phase diagram. In addition, the reason for which a weakly non-ohmic region exists above the transition temperature will be explained.
The theoretical statements about a restoration of a superconductivity at magnetic fields higher than the quasiclassical upper critical field and a reentrance of superconductivity at temperatures $T_c(H)\approx T_c(0)$ in the superconductors with open Fermi surfaces are reinvestigated taking into account a scattering of quasiparticles on the impurities. The system of integral equations for determination of the upper critical field parallel to the conducting planes in a layered conventional and unconventional superconductors with impurities are derived. The $H_{c2}(T)$ values for the "clean" cas…
We report impact of hydrostatic pressure on the newly discovered BiS2 based superconductors. In last couple of years the new BiS2 based superconductor attracted great attention of the condensed matter physics community. These new layered BiS2-based compounds are very sensitive to the concentration of carriers doping and pressure that cause profound changes in their physical properties with appearance of superconductivity in the vicinity of their insulating/semiconducting state. The BiS2-based new compounds are expected to provide us with the next stage of exploring new superconductors and to d…
The influence of the antiferromagnetic order on the superconductor in the mixed state results in creation of spin-flop domains along the cores of the vortex lines. It is shown that this phenomenon makes possible crossover from quantum creep regime to thermal one, and vice versa, at constant temperature. To do this one needs to simply change the intensity or the direction of applied magnetic field in the basal ${\bf ab}$ plane of layered structure.
Using a conventional BCS -- Fermi liquid model we calculate the c-axis optical reflectivity of the layered high temperature cuprate superconductors by obtaining the finite temperature dynamical dielectric function in a microscopic self-consistent gauge invariant formalism. We get good semi-quantitative agreement with all the existing experimental data by using the measured normal state $dc$ resistivities as the input parameters in obtaining the c-axis hopping amplitude and the normal state level broadening in our microscopic calculation.
