The holographic description of Pomeron exchange in a strongly-coupled gauge theory with an AdS dual is extended to the case of two to three scattering. We study the production event of a central particle via hadron-hadron scattering in the double Regge kinematic regime of large center-of-momentum energy and fixed momentum transfer. The computation reduces to the overlap of a holographic wave function for the central particle with a source function for the Pomerons. The formalism is applied to scalar glueball production and the resulting amplitude is studied in various kinematic limits.
The holographic approach to double diffractive Higgs production is presented for the AdS graviton/Pomeron. The goal is to provide a predictive phenomenology for the strong coupling expansion of QCD. This is the first step to set up the framework for the double diffractive Higgs production in anticipation of experimental observations at the LHC. Comparisons are made with the weak coupling approach based on the BFKL Pomeron models and soft Regge parameterizations.
We further analyze the holographic dipole-dipole scattering amplitude developed in arXiv:1202.0831, 1205.3223. Gribov diffusion at strong coupling yields the scattering amplitude in a confining background. We compare the holographic result for the differential cross section to proton-proton and deeply virtual Compton scattering data.
We present a holographic analysis of diffractive photoproducton of charmonium $J/ψ$ and upsilonium $Υ$ on a proton, considered as a bulk Dirac fermion, for all ranges of $\sqrt{s}$, i.e., from near threshold to very high energy. Using the bulk wave functions of the proton and vector mesons, within holographic QCD, and employing Witten diagrams in the bulk, we compute the diffractive photoproduction amplitude of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$. The holographic amplitude shows elements of the strictures of vector meson dominance (VMD). It is dominated by the exchange of a massive graviton or $2^{++}$ glueball res…
Diffractive dissociation processes are analysed in the framework of covariant reggeization. We have considered the general form of hadronic tensor and its asymptotic behaviour for $t\rightarrow 0$ in the case of conserved tensor currents before reggeization. Resulting expressions for differential cross-section of single dissociation (SD) process ($pp \rightarrow p M$), double dissociation (DD) ($pp\rightarrow M_1 M_2$) and for the proton-Pomeron cross-section are given in detail, and corresponding problems of the approach are discussed.
We model the soft pomeron in QCD using a scalar Polyakov string with extrinsic curvature in the bottom-up approach of holographic QCD. The overall dipole-dipole scattering amplitude in the soft pomeron kinematics is shown to be sensitive to the extrinsic curvature of the string for finite momentum transfer. The characteristics of the diffractive peak in the differential elastic $pp$ scattering are affected by a small extrinsic curvature of the string.
In this paper, we analyze the holographic covariant entanglement entropy in the double Wick rotated version of a rotating BTZ black hole (3 dimensional Kerr-AdS solution), where the periodicity of Euclidean time and spatial direction are changed. The dual field theory has negative energy in the Lorentzian signature. The holographic entanglement entropy agrees with its CFT counterpart, which is obtained by a conformal transformation of the correlation functions of twisted operators.
In this paper we consider holographic model of exciton condensation in double monolayer Dirac semimetal. Excitons is a bound states of an electron and a hole. Being Bose particles, excitons can form a Bose-Einstein condensate. We study formation of two types of condensates. In first case both the electron and the hole forming the exciton are in the same layer (intralayer condensate), in the second case the electron and the hole are in different layers (interlayer condensate). We study how the condensates depend on the distance between layers and the mass of the quasiparticles in presence of a …
We explore the properties of holographic entanglement of purification (EoP) for two disjoint strips in the Schwarzschild-AdS black brane and the Vaidya-AdS black brane spacetimes. For two given strips on the same boundary of Schwarzschild-AdS spacetime, there is an upper bound of the separation beyond which the holographic EoP will always vanish no matter how wide the strips are. In the case that two strips are in the two boundaries of the spacetime respectively, we find that the holographic EoP exists only when the strips are wide enough. If the width is finite, the EoP can be nonzero in a fi…
We use mutual information as a measure of the entanglement between 'physical' and thermo-field double degrees of freedom in field theories at finite temperature. We compute this "thermo-mutual information" in simple toy models: a quantum mechanics two-site spin chain, a two dimensional massless fermion, and a two dimensional holographic system. In holographic systems, the thermo-mutual information is related to minimal surfaces connecting the two disconnected boundaries of an eternal black hole. We derive a number of salient features of this thermo-mutual information, including that it is UV f…
A minimal single-brane holographic model can be used as a dual to 2d conformal interfaces (ICFTs) to calculate the transmission coefficient $\mathcal{T}$ of energy transported across the defect as well as boundary entropy $\log g$, the additional entanglement entropy for some sub-region that encloses the defect. Both $\mathcal{T}$ and $\log g$ are uniquely determined by the tension characterizing the brane. In contrast, in field theory defects typically the transmission coefficient can be dialed from 0 to 1 independently for each allowed value of $\log g$. To address this discrepancy, we look …
We study a holographic D3/probe-D5-brane model of a double monolayer Dirac semimetal in a magnetic field and in the presence of a nonzero temperature. Intra- and inter-layer exciton condensates can form by varying the balanced charge density on the layers, the spatial separation and the temperature. Constant temperature phase diagrams for a wide range of layer separations and charge densities are found. The presence of a finite temperature makes the phase diagrams extremely rich and in particular leads to the appearance of a symmetric phase which was missing at zero temperature.
We study a class of decoherence process which admits a 3 dimensional holographic bulk. Starting from a thermo-field double dual to a wormhole, we prepare another thermo-field double which plays the role of environment. By allowing the energy flow between the original and environment thermo-field double, the entanglement of the original thermo-field double eventually decoheres. We model this decoherence by four-boundary wormhole geometries, and study the time-evolution of the moduli parameters to see the change of the entanglement pattern among subsystems. A notable feature of this holographic …
The formation of intra-layer and inter-layer exciton condensates in a model of a double monolayer Weyl semi-metal is studied in the strong coupling limit using AdS/CFT duality. We find a rich phase diagram which includes phase transitions between inter-layer and intra-layer condensates as the charge densities and the separation of the layers are varied. The tendency to inter-layer condensation is strongest when the charge densities are balanced so that the weak coupling electron and hole Fermi surfaces would be nested. For systems with multiple species of massless Fermions, we find a novel pha…
We build a holographic model for the pairing fluctuation pseudogap phase in fermionic high temperature superconductivity/superfluidity based on the BCS-BEC crossover scenario. The pseudogap originates from incoherent Cooper pairing and has been observed in recent cold atom experiments. The strength of Cooper pairing and hence the BCS-BEC crossover is controlled by an effective 4-Fermi interaction and we argue that the double-trace deformation for charged scalar operator is a close analog in large N field theories. We employ the double-trace deformed Abelian Higgs model of holographic supercond…
We compute the time-dependent complexity of the thermofield double states by four different proposals: two holographic proposals based on the "complexity-action" (CA) conjecture and "complexity-volume" (CV) conjecture, and two quantum field theoretic proposals based on the Fubini-Study metric (FS) and Finsler geometry (FG). We find that four different proposals yield both similarities and differences, which will be useful to deepen our understanding on the complexity and sharpen its definition. In particular, at early time the complexity linearly increase in the CV and FG proposals, linearly d…
The possibility of inter-layer exciton condensation in a holographic D3-probe-D5 brane model of a strongly coupled double monolayer Dirac semi-metal in a magnetic field is studied in detail. It is found that, when the charge densities on the layers are exactly balanced so that, at weak coupling, the Fermi surfaces of electrons in one monolayer and holes in the other monolayer would be perfectly nested, inter-layer condensates can form for any separation of the layers. The case where both monolayers are charge neutral is special. There, the inter-layer condensate occurs only for small separatio…
We abstract the essential features of holographic dimer models, and develop several new applications of these models. First, semi-holographically coupling free band fermions to holographic dimers, we uncover novel phase transitions between conventional Fermi liquids and non-Fermi liquids, accompanied by a change in the structure of the Fermi surface. Second, we make dimer vibrations propagate through the whole crystal by way of double trace deformations, obtaining nontrivial band structure. In a simple toy model, the topology of the band structure experiences an interesting reorganization as w…
