Nodal intersections for random waves on the 3-dimensional torus

We investigate the number of nodal intersections of random Gaussian Laplace eigenfunctions on the standard three-dimensional flat torus with a fixed smooth reference curve, which has nowhere vanishing curvature. The expected intersection number is universally proportional to the length of the reference curve, times the wavenumber, independent of the geometry. Our main result gives a bound for the variance, if either the torsion of the curve is nowhere zero or if the curve is planar.

Zeroes of Gaussian analytic functions

Geometrically, zeroes of a Gaussian analytic function are intersection points of an analytic curve in a Hilbert space with a randomly chosen hyperplane. Mathematical physics provides another interpretation as a gas of interacting particles. In the last decade, these interpretations influenced progress in understanding statistical patterns in the zeroes of Gaussian analytic functions, and led to the discovery of canonical models with invariant zero distribution. We shall discuss some of recent results in this area and mention several open questions.

Intersections of SLE Paths: the double and cut point dimension of SLE

We compute the almost-sure Hausdorff dimension of the double points of chordal SLE_kappa for kappa > 4, confirming a prediction of Duplantier-Saleur (1989) for the contours of the FK model. We also compute the dimension of the cut points of chordal SLE_kappa for kappa > 4 as well as analogous dimensions for the radial and whole-plane SLE_kappa(rho) processes for kappa > 0. Computing topological invariants with one and two-matrix models

A generalization of the Kontsevich Airy-model allows one to compute the intersection numbers of the moduli space of p-spin curves. These models are deduced from averages of characteristic polynomials over Gaussian ensembles of random matrices in an external matrix source. After use of a duality, and of an appropriate tuning of the source, we obtain in a double scaling limit these intersection numbers as polynomials in p. Let ρ the density matrix of a mixed Gaussian state.
