Dyon loops give a contribution to the matrix element for light-by-light scattering that violates parity and time-reversal symmetry. This effect induces an electric dipole moment for the electron, of order $M^{-2}$, where $M$ is the dyon mass. The current limit on the electric dipole moment of the electron yields the lower mass bound $M>{\cal O}(1)~\mbox{TeV}$.
In the present paper we investigate the phase transition "Coulomb--confinement" in the Higgs model of abelian scalar dyons -- particles having both, electric $e$ and magnetic $g$, charges. It is shown that by dual symmetry this theory is equivalent to scalar fields with the effective squared electric charge e^{*2}=e^2+g^2. But the Dirac relation distinguishes the electric and magnetic charges of dyons. The following phase transition couplings are obtained in the one--loop approximation: α_{crit}=e^2_{crit}/4π\approx 0.19, \tildeα_{crit}=g^2_{crit}/4π\approx 1.29 and α^*_{crit}\approx 1.48.
Fermions with magnetic charges can contribute to anomalies. We derive the axial anomaly and gauge anomalies for monopoles and dyons, and find eight new gauge anomaly cancelation conditions in a general theory with both electric and magnetic charges. As a byproduct we also extend the Zwanziger two-potential formalism to include the theta parameter, and elaborate on the condition for CP invariance in theories with fermionic dyons.

Correlations of the topological charge Q, the electric current J^e and the magnetic current J^m in SU(2) lattice gauge theory in the Maximal Abelian projection are investigated. It occurs that the correlator <<QJ^e J^m>> is nonzero for a wide range of values of the bare charge. It is shown that: (i) the abelian monopoles in the Maximal Abelian projection are dyons which carry fluctuating electric charge; (ii) the sign of the electric charge e(x) coincides with that of the product of the monopole charge m(x) and the topological charge density Q(x).
We discuss the phases of four dimensional gauge theories and demonstrate them in solvable examples. Some of our simple examples exhibit confinement and oblique confinement. The theory has dual magnetic and dual dyonic descriptions in which these phenomena happen at weak coupling. Combined with the underlying electric theory, which gives a weak coupling description of the Higgs phase, we have electric-magnetic-dyonic triality. In an appendix we clarify some points regarding the use of 1PI superpotentials in these theories.
The effective Lagrangian of QED coupled to dyons is calculated. The resulting generalization of the Euler-Heisenberg Lagrangian contains non-linear P and T noninvariant terms corresponding to the virtual pair creation of dyons. We perform a numerical study of the excess of non-abelian gauge invariant gluonic action around thermal abelian monopoles which populate the deconfined phase of Yang-Mills theories. Our results show that the excess of magnetic action is close to that of the electric one, so that thermal abelian monopoles may be associated with physical objects carrying both electric and magnetic charge, i.e. dyons. It was exposed during Run-2 of the LHC program to 6.46 fb^-1 of 13 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHCb interaction point.
