It is pointed out that assigning D_{s0}^+(2317) to an iso-triplet tetra-quark meson is favored by experiments. It also is discussed why its neutral and doubly charged partners have never been observed in inclusive e^+e^- annihilation. To search for them, hadronic weak decays of B mesons would be better, and their production rates, Br(B_u^+ -> D^-D_{s0}^{++}(2317)) and Br(B_d^0 ->antiD^0D_{s0}^{0}(2317)), would be around 10^{-3}.
By an unquenched quark model, we predict a charmed-strange baryon state, namely, the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$. Its mass is predicted to be 2945 MeV, which is below the $Ξ_c\bar{K}$ threshold due to the nontrivial coupled-channel effect. So the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$ state could be regraded as the analog of the charmed-strange meson $D_{s0}^*(2317)$. It is a good opportunity for the running Belle II experiment to search for this state in the $Ω_c^{(*)}γ$ mass spectrum experiment in the future.
A narrow resonance in D*- p and D*+ pbar invariant mass combinations is observed in inelastic electron-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 300 GeV and 320 GeV at HERA. The resonance has a mass of 3099 \pm 3 (stat.) \pm 5 (syst.) MeV and a measured Gaussian width of 12 \pm 3 (stat.) MeV, compatible with the experimental resolution. The resonance is interpreted as an anti-charmed baryon with a minimal constituent quark composition of uuddcbar, together with the charge conjugate.
It is discussed that a newly observed broad bump around 2.3 GeV in the Dπmass distribution can include two scalar resonances, and is predicted that a broad scalar resonance can be observed around 2.45 GeV in the DK channels.
Charmed scalar mesons are studied. By assigning the newly observed charmed strange meson with a narrow width to one of the iso-triplet four-quark mesons, decays of the multiplet members are investigated and, as the consequence, existence of additional narrow scalar mesons is predicted. Decays of the ordinary charmed scalar mesons are also studied. In addition, it is demonstrated that four-quark mesons can play an important role in hadronic weak decays of charm mesons.
The lightest charmed scalar meson is known as the $D_0^*(2300)$, which is one of the earliest new hadron resonances observed at modern $B$ factories. We show here that the parameters assigned to the lightest scalar $D$-meson are in conflict with the precise LHCb data of the decay $B^-\to D^+ π^- π^-$. On the contrary, these data can be well described by an unitarized chiral amplitude containing a much lighter charmed scalar meson, the $D_0^*(2100)$. We also extract the low-energy $S$-wave $Dπ$ phase of the decay $B^-\to D^+ π^- π^-$ from the data in a model-independent way, and show that its d…
We use QCD sum rules to estimate the universal form factors describing the semileptonic B decays into excited charmed resonances, such as the $1^-$ and $2^-$ states $D_1^{*}$ and $D_2^{*}$ belonging to the $s_\ell^P={3/2}^-$ heavy quark doublet, and the $2^-$ and $3^-$ states $D_2^{*\prime}$ and $D_3$ belonging to the $s_\ell^P={5\2}^-$ doublet.
We calculate the mass spectrum of the $S$-wave fully-charmed tetraquark resonant states $cc\bar c\bar c $ in the nonrelativistic quark model, which successfully describes the charmonium spectrum. The four-body system is solved with the Gaussian expansion method. The complex scaling technique is used to identify the genuine resonances. With the nonrelativistic quark model, our results show the existence of two $cc\bar c\bar c$ resonances in each of the $J^{PC}=$ $0^{++}$, $1^{+-}$ and $2^{++}$ sectors, respectively. In the $S$-wave sector, no resonance is found at the energy region of the $X(62…
The isospin breaking effect plays an essential role in generating hadronic molecular states with a very tiny binding energy. Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration observed a very narrow doubly charmed tetraquark $T_{cc}^+$ in the $D^0D^0π$ mass spectrum, which lies just below the $D^0D^{*+}$ threshold around 273 keV. In this work, we study the $D^0D^{*+}/D^+D^{*0}$ interactions with the one-boson-exchange effective potentials and consider the isospin breaking effect carefully. We not only reproduce the mass of the newly observed $T_{cc}^+$ very well in the doubly charmed molecular tetraquark s…
We study charmed baryon resonances that are generated dynamically from a coupled-channel unitary approach that implements heavy-quark symmetry. Some states can already be identified with experimental observations, such as $Λ_c(2595)$, $Λ_c(2660)$, $Σ_c(2902)$ or $Λ_c(2941)$, while others need a compilation of more experimental data as well as an extension of the model to include higher order contributions. We also compare our model to previous SU(4) schemes.
We review the status of recently observed positive parity charmed resonances, both in the non-strange and in the strange sector. We describe the experimental findings, the main theoretical analyses and the open problems deserving further investigations.
We discuss the behavior of dynamically-generated charmed baryonic resonances in matter within a unitarized coupled-channel model consistent with heavy-quark spin symmetry. We analyze the implications for the formation of $D$-meson bound states in nuclei and the propagation of $D$ mesons in heavy-ion collisions from RHIC to FAIR energies.
We apply HQET to semi-leptonic $B$ meson decays into a variety of excited charm states. Using three realistic meson models with fermionic light degrees of freedom, we examine the extent that the sum of exclusive single charmed states account for the inclusive semi-leptonic $B$ decay rate. The consistency of form factors with the Bjorken and Voloshin sum rules is also investigated.
Charmed meson resonances with quantum numbers J^P=0^+ and J^P=1^+ are generated in terms of chiral coupled-channel dynamics. At leading order in the chiral expansion a parameter-free prediction is obtained for the scattering of Goldstone bosons off charmed pseudo-scalar and vector mesons. The recently announced narrow open charm states observed by the BABAR and CLEO collaborations are reproduced. We suggest the existence of states that form an anti-triplet and a sextet representation of the SU(3) group. In particular, so far unobserved narrow isospin-singlet states with negative strangeness ar…
In this article, we construct the axialvector-diquark-axialvector-antidiquark type currents to interpolate the scalar, axialvector, vector, tensor doubly charmed tetraquark states, and study them with QCD sum rules systematically by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 10 in a consistent way, the predicted masses can be confronted to the experimental data in the future. We can search for those doubly charmed tetraquark states in the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka super-allowed strong decays to the charmed meson pairs.
In this article, we study the scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark type hexaquark state with the QCD sum rules by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 16. We obtain the lowest hexaquark mass $6.60^{+0.12}_{-0.09}\,\rm{GeV}$, which can be confronted to the experimental data in the future.
We propose that there coexist two scalar mesons of different structures (a conventional meson and a four-quark meson) in the recently observed broad bumps just below the large peak of the tensor meson in the D-pi mass distribution. We base this proposal on the interpretation of the charm-strange scalar meson of mass 2317 MeV as a four-quark meson. The strange counterparts of these scalar mesons are also studied.
Charmed dibaryon states with the spin-parity $J^π=0^+$, $1^+$, and $2^+$are predicted for the two-body $Y_cN$ ($=Λ_c$, $Σ_c$, or $Σ^*_c$) systems. We employ the complex scaling method for the coupled channel Hamiltonian with the $Y_cN$-CTNN potentials, which were proposed in our previous study. We find four sharp resonance states near the $Σ_c N$ and $Σ^*_c N$ thresholds. From the analysis of the binding energies of partial channel systems, we conclude that these resonance states are Feshbach resonances. We compare the results with the $Y_c N$ resonance states in the heavy quark limit, where t…
The very recently observed D^*_{sJ}(2317)^+ meson is described as a quasi-bound scalar c\bar{s} state in a unitarized meson model, owing its existence to the strong ^3P_0 OZI-allowed coupling to the nearby S-wave DK threshold. By the same mechanism, a scalar D_0(2100-2300) resonance is predicted slightly above the Dπthreshold. These scalars are the charmed cousins of the light scalar nonet f_0(600), f_0(980), K^*_0(800), and a_0(980), reproduced by the same model. The standard c\bar{n} and c\bar{s} charmed scalars D_{0} and D_{s0}, cousins of the scalar nonet f_0(1370), f_0(1500), K_0^*(1430),…
In the framework of Quark--Gluon--String Model developed recently in ITEP we calculate spectra of charmed particles $D$, $D_s$, $Λ_c$, $Ξ_c$, $Ω_c$ in hadron--hadron collisions taking into account the decays of $S$--wave resonances like $D^*$, $D^*_s$, $Σ_c$, $Σ^*_c$, $Ξ^*_c$, $Ξ'_c$, and $Ω^*_c$. We describe the bulk of the existing data on $D$, $D^*$, and $Λ_c$ production in $πp$ and $pp$ collisions and predict the yield of charmed particles in $Σ^-p$ and $Ξ^-p$ reactions at hyperon beam energies of $340\;GeV/c$ and $600\;GeV/c$. Because of significant production of baryon resonances our pre…
Charmed baryon resonances that are generated dynamically are studied within a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channel model, which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. The extension of the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking is used. The model produces resonances with negative parity from s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. Some of our dynamically generated states can be readily assigned to resonances found experimentally, while others do not have a straightforward identific…
We present an evaluation of the strong couplings JD^(*)D^(*) and JD^(*)D^(*)pi by an effective field theory of quarks and mesons. These couplings are necessary to calculate pi+J/psi --> D^(*)+barD^(*) cross sections, an important background to the J/psi suppression signal in the quark-gluon plasma. We write down the general effective lagrangian and compute the relevant couplings in the soft pion limit and beyond.
We study the invisible scalar of $S$ in charmed meson and baryon decays with flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) based on the model-independent effective Lagrangian between the quarks and invisible scalar. From the bounds of the coupling constants extracted from the recent BES III experiment on the decay of $D^{0}\toπ^{0}\barνν$, we predict that the decay branching ratios of $D^{+}\toπ^{+}S$, $D_s^+\to K^+S$, $Λ_c\to pS$, $Ξ_c^{0(+)}\to Σ^{0(+)}S$, and $Ξ_c^0\toΛS$ can be as large as $10.6,~2.53,~2.39,~0.963,~5.77$, and $2.92\times10^{-4}$ with $m_{_S}\approx 1.1~{\rm GeV}$, respectively.…
The LHCb Collaboration has recently reported the observation for the first time of a spin-$3$ resonance in the heavy quark sector. They have shown that the $\bar{D}^{0}K^{-}$ structure seen in the $B_{s}^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}K^{-}π^{+}$ reaction and with invariant mass $2.86\,{\rm GeV}$ is an admixture of a spin-$1$ and a spin-$3$ resonances. Motivated by the good agreement between our theoretical predictions some time ago and the properties extracted from the experiment of the $D_{s1}^{\ast}(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860)$ states, we perform an extension of the study of the strong decay propert…
We study the vacuum properties of the pseudoscalar glueball and charmed mesons by using the so-called extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM). This model includes scalar and pseudoscalar mesons, as well as vector and axial-vector mesons. We calculate the mesonic and baryonic decays of the pseudoscalar glueball, where we fixed its mass to $2.6$ GeV, as predicted by lattice-QCD simulations, and take a closer look at the scalar-isoscalar decay channel. As a second step, we enlarge the so-called extended linear Sigma model (eLSM) by including the charm quark to a global $U(4)_r\times U(4)_l$ chiral sym…
In this article, we construct the scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark-antiquark type current to study the ground state triply charmed pentaquark states with the QCD sum rules. We separate the contributions of the negative-parity and positive parity triply charmed pentaquark states explicitly, and take the energy scale formula $μ=\sqrt{M^2_{P}-(3{\mathbb{M}}_c)^2}$ to determine the optimal energy scales of the QCD spectral densities. The predicted pentaquark masses can be confronted to the experimental data in the future.
We study charmed baryon resonances which are generated dynamically within a unitary meson-baryon coupled channel model that treats the heavy pseudoscalar and vector mesons on equal footing as required by heavy-quark symmetry. It is an extension of recent SU(4) models with t-channel vector meson exchanges to a SU(8) spin-flavor scheme, but differs considerably from the SU(4) approach in how the strong breaking of the flavor symmetry is implemented. Some of our dynamically generated states can be readily assigned to recently observed baryon resonances, while others do not have a straightforward …
Nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons into two pseudoscalar mesons or one pseudoscalar meson and one vector meson are studied on the basis of a generalized factorization method considering the resonance effects in the pole model for the annihilation contributions. Large strong phases between different topological diagrams are considered in this work, simply taking the phase in the coefficients $a_i$. We find that the annihilation-type contributions calculated in the pole model are large in both of the $PP$ and $PV$ modes, which make our numerical results agree with the experimental data better …
We suggest a new point of view according to which baryon resonances can be understood as collective excitations about intrinsic one-quark excitations in a mean field of definite symmetry. This approach is justified in the limit of large number of colours Nc, and is similar to the physics of large-A nuclei, hence "quark nuclear physics". Although in the real world Nc is only three, we obtain a good agreement with the observed resonance spectrum of light baryons up to 2 GeV, and of lowest charmed baryon multiplets. A by-product of the scheme is the prediction of new exotic charmed (and bottom) b…
We study charmed and strange baryon resonances that are generated dynamically by a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channel model which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. This is accomplished by extending the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking. The model produces resonances with negative parity from s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. Resonances in all the isospin, spin, and strange sectors with one, two, and three charm units are studied. Our results are compared with exp…

The $X(6900)$ resonance, very recently discovered in the double-$J/ψ$ channel at LHCb experiment, has spurred intensive interest in unravelling the nature of the fully charmed tetraquark state. The aim of this paper is to present a model-independent theoretical framework to study the inclusive production of this novel species of exotic hadrons, the resonances composed of four heavy quark (commonly referred to as $T_{4c}$), at large $p_T$ in hadron collision experiments. Appealing to asymptotic freedom and the fact $m_c\gg Λ_{\rm QCD}$, we propose that the nonpertubative yet universal gluon-to-…
Newly observed two charmed-strange resonances, $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, are investigated by calculating their Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decays, which shows that they are suitable candidates for the $1^3D_1$ and $1^3D_3$ states in the charmed-strange meson family. Our study also predicts other main decay modes of $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, which can be accessible at the future experiment. In addition, the decay behaviors of the spin partners of $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, i.e., $1D(2^-)$ and $1D^\prime(2^-)$, are predicted in this work, which are sti…
Within the framework of covariant confined quark model, we compute the transition form factors of $D$ and $D_s$ mesons decaying to light scalar mesons $f_0(980)$ and $a_0(980)$. The transition form factors are then utilized to compute the semileptonic branching fractions. We study the channels namely, $D_{(s)}^+ \to f_0(980) \ell^+ ν_\ell$ and $D \to a_0(980) \ell^+ ν_\ell$ for $\ell = e$ and $μ$. For computation of semileptonic branching fractions, we consider the $a_0(980)$ meson to be the conventional quark-antiquark structure and the $f_0(980)$ meson as the admixture of $s\bar{s}$ and ligh…
The chiral symmetry of QCD requires energy-dependent pionic strong interactions at low energies. This constraint, however, is not fulfilled by the usual Breit--Wigner parameterization of pionic resonances, leading to masses larger than the real ones. We derive relations between nonleptonic three-body decays of the $B$-meson into a $D$-meson and a pair of light pseudoscalar mesons based on SU(3) chiral symmetry. Employing effective field theory methods, we demonstrate that taking into account the final-state interactions, the experimental data of the decays $B^-\to D^+π^-π^-$, $B_s^0\to \bar{D}…
We suggest that the recently observed charmed scalar mesons $D_0^{0}(2308)$ (BELLE) and $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$ (FOCUS) are considered as different resonances. Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of these mesons and also of the very narrow $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BABAR. We use diquak-antidiquark currents and work to the order of $m_s$ in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_c$ expansion. Our results indicate that a four-quark structure is acceptable for the resonances observed by BELLE and BABAR: $D_0^{0}(2308)$ and $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$ respect…
I study the charmed $uudd\bar c$ resonance D*p (3100) very recently discovered by the H1 collaboration at Hera. An anticharmed resonance was already predicted, in a recent publication mostly dedicated to the S=1 resonance Theta+(1540). To confirm these recent predictions, I apply the same standard quark model with a quark-antiquark annihilation constrained by chiral symmetry. I find that repulsion excludes the D*p (3100) as a $uudd\bar c$ s-wave pentaquark. I explore the D*p (3100) as a heptaquark, equivalent to a N-pi-D* linear molecule, with positive parity and total isospin I=0. I find that…
The recently discovered fully charmed tetraquark candidate $X(6900)$ is analyzed within the frameworks of effective-range expansion, compositeness relation and width saturation, and a coupled multichannel dynamical study. By taking into account constraints from heavy-quark spin symmetry, the coupled-channel amplitude including the $J/ψJ/ψ,~ χ_{c0}χ_{c0}$ and $χ_{c1}χ_{c1}$ is constructed to fit the experimental di-$J/ψ$ event distributions around the energy region near $6.9$ GeV. Another dynamical two-coupled-channel amplitude with the $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $ψ(3770) J/ψ$ is also considered to describe …
We re-examine the hadronic loop effects to the masses of $D^*_0$ and $D^*_{s0}$ calculated in quark models in the framework of heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMCHPT). The inaccuracy in the choice of the argument of the chiral loop functions in previous works is corrected. Our calculations consider the full one-loop corrections that appear at leading order in the chiral expansion of the effective Lagrangian. Unlike previous approaches, ours leads to satisfactory results in explaining the low mass of the observed scalar charm states reported by the Particle Data Group (PDG). It is found…
The interaction of the low lying pseudo-scalar mesons with the ground state baryons in the charm sector is studied within a coupled channel approach using a t-channel vector-exchange driving force. The amplitudes describing the scattering of the pseudo-scalar mesons off the ground-state baryons are obtained by solving the Lippmann--Schwinger equation. We analyze in detail the effects of going beyond the $t=0$ approximation. Our model predicts the dynamical generation of several open charmed baryon resonances in different isospin and strangeness channels, some of which can be clearly identified…
The strong decays of the pseudoscalar and scalar double-charmed tetraquarks $ T_{cc;\overline{u}\overline{d}}^{+}$ and $\widetilde{T}_{cc;\overline{u} \overline{d}}^{+}$ are investigated in the framework of the QCD sum rule method. The mass and coupling of these exotic four-quark mesons are calculated in the framework of the QCD two-point sum rule approach by taking into account vacuum condensates of the quark, gluon, and mixed local operators up to dimension 10. Our results for masses $m_{T}=(4130~\pm 170)~ \mathrm{MeV} $ and $m_{\widetilde{T}}=(3845~\pm 175)~\mathrm{MeV}$ demonstrate that th…
The Lambda_c(2286)-N system is studied in a chiral constituent quark model and the resulting s-wave interaction is used in separable form within three-body models of the pi-Lambda_c-N system with quantum numbers (C,I,JP)=(+1,3/2,2+). Separable interactions are also used for the dominant p-wave pion-baryon channels dominated by the Delta(1232) and Sigma_c(2520) resonances. Faddeev equations with relativistic kinematics are solved on the real axis to search for bound states and in the complex plane to search for three-body resonances. Some of the models considered generate a very narrow bound st…
The masses of the heavy tetraquarks with open charm and bottom are calculated within the diquark-antidiquark picture in the framework of the relativistic quark model. The dynamics of the light quarks and diquarks is treated completely relativistically. The diquark structure is taken into account by calculating the diquark-gluon form factor. New experimental data on charmed and charmed-strange mesons are discussed. Our results indicate that the anomalous scalar D_{s0}^*(2317) and axial vector D_{s1}(2460) mesons could not be considered as diquark-antidiquark bound states. On the other hand, D_s…
The study on the charmed scalar meson spectroscopy has become a hot topic both experimentally and theoretically. The $B_{(s)}$ decays provide an ideal place to study their property. We employ the $B$-meson light-cone sum rules to compute the $\bar B_s^0\to D_s^{*+}(2317)$ and $B^-\to D_0^{*0}(2400)$ transition form factors at large recoil, assuming $D_s^{*+}(2317)$ and $D_0^{*0}(2400)$ being scalar quark-anti-quark states. The results are extrapolated to the whole momentum region with the help of HQET. Considering large uncertainties, our results can be consistent with the previous studies, wh…
We study the properties of charmed hadrons in dense matter within a coupled-channel approach which accounts for Pauli blocking effects and meson self-energies in a self-consistent manner. We analyze the behaviour in this dense environment of dynamically-generated baryonic resonances as well as the open-charm meson spectral functions. We discuss the implications of the in-medium properties of open-charm mesons on the $D_{s0}(2317)$ and the predicted X(3700) scalar resonances.
A resently developed generalization of the Quark--Gluon String Model to the case of bosonic resonances production in hadron--hadron collisions is used for the calculation of inclusive production of charmed mesons $D$, $D^*(2010)$ and $D^{*}_{2}(2460)$. A simple relation which determines the dependence of the charmed meson production cross sections on their spin J is obtained. It is shown that the theoretical predictions for the inclusive spectra and production cross sections of these charmed mesons are confirmed experimentally with a reasonable accuracy.
The strong coupling constants, $g_{D_{s}DK_0^*}$, $g_{B_{s}BK_0^*}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K}$, $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K_1}$ and $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK_1}$, where $K_0^*$, $K$ and $K_1$ are scalar, pseudoscalar and axial vector kaon mesons, respectively are calculated in the framework of three-point QCD sum rules. In particular, the correlation functions of the considered vertices when both $B(D)$ and $K_0^*(K)(K_1)$ mesons are off-shell are evaluated. In the case of $K_1$, which is either $K_1(1270)$ or $K_1(1400)$, the mixing between these two states are also taken into account. A c…
The significantly screened heavy-quark potential in hot medium provides the possibility to study exotic quantum states of three-heavy-quark systems. By solving the Schrödinger equation for a three-charm-quark system at finite temperature, we found that, there exist Borromean states which might be realized in high energy nuclear collisions, and the binding energies of the system satisfy precisely the scaling law for Efimov states in the resonance limit.
We study two- and three-baryon systems with two units of charm looking for possible bound states or resonances. All two-baryon interactions are consistently derived from a constituent quark model tuned in the light-flavor hadron phenomenology: spectra and interactions. The presence of the heavy quarks makes the two-body interactions simpler than in the light-flavor sector. Our results show a narrow two-body resonance with quantum numbers $(I,J^P)=(0,0^+)$. It is located 6.2 MeV below the $Σ_cΣ_c$ threshold and has a width of 4.7 MeV. The foregoing two-body state contributes to generate a $N Σ_…
We obtain the properties of charmed mesons in dense matter using a coupled-channel approach which accounts for Pauli blocking effects and meson self-energies in a self-consistent manner. We study the behaviour of dynamically-generated baryonic resonances together with the open-charm meson spectral functions in this dense nuclear environment. We discuss the implications of the in-medium properties of open-charm mesons on the $D_{s0}(2317)$ and the predicted X(3700) scalar resonances, and on the formation of $D$-mesic nuclei.
The non-leptonic two body decays of D mesons are studied in the framework of an improved factorization approximation. The final state interaction effects are taken into account assuming them dominated by nearby resonances. The agreement with experimental data is quite good. CP-violating asymmetries are predicted.
Using a constituent quark model we study the mass and decay channels of meson meson and meson baryon structures in the charm sector. We show that the $X(3872)$ and $X(3940)$ resonances can be described as mixed charmonium-molecular states with $J^{PC}=1^{++}$, whereas the $X(3915)$ and the $Y(3940)$ can be assigned to similar mixed states with $J^{PC}=0^{++}$. In the baryon spectrum we identify the $Λ^+_c(2940)$ as a $D^*N$ molecule with $(I)J^P=(0)3/2^-$ and the recently reported $X_c(3250)$ as a $D^*Δ$ resonance with $(I)J^P=(1)5/2^-$ or $(I)J^P=(2)3/2^-$.
If the number of colors Nc is taken large, baryons and their excitations can be considered in a mean-field approach. We argue that the mean field in baryons breaks spontaneously the spherical and SU(3) flavor symmetries, but retains the SU(2) symmetry of simultaneous rotations in space and isospace. The one-quark and quark-hole excitations in the mean field, together with the SU(3) rotational bands about them determine the spectrum of baryon resonances, which turns out to be in satisfactory accordance with reality when one puts Nc=3. A by-product of this scheme is a confirmation of the light p…
