We investigate the determination of the pole associated to $σ$ from $ππ$ scattering data below the $K\bar{K}$ threshold, including the new precise data from $K_{e4}$ decay reported recently by the NA48/2 Collaboration. Using a large class of analytic parametrizations based on expansions in powers of conformal variables, we obtain for the mass and width of $σ$ values which are consistent with those calculated recently using ChPT and Roy equations, but have larger theoretical uncertainties.
Determination of hadronic partial widths for scalar-isoscalar resonances f0(980), f0(1300), f0(1500), f_0(1750) and the broad state f0(1530^{+90}_{-250})
在V. V. Anisovich等人的文章中,Yad.菲兹63,1489(2000)中,在450 - 1900 MeV质量区得到了波IJ^{PC}=00^{++}的K矩阵解,其中四个共振态f0(980),f0(1300),f0(1500),f0(1750)和宽态f0(1530^{+90}-250})。基于这些解,我们确定了衰变到通道pi-pi,K-anti K,eta-eta,eta-eta ',pi-pi-pi-pi中的标量-等密度态的部分宽度以及相应的衰变耦合。
Determination of the strangeness contents of light-flavour isoscalars from its production rates in hadronic Z decays measured at LEP
A new phenomenological approach is suggested to determine the strangeness contents of light-flavour isoscalars. This approach is based on phenomenological laws of hadron production related to the spin, isospin, strangeness content and mass of the particles. The ``effective'' numbers of s and \bar{s} quarks in the isoscalar partners i_1 and i_2 are given by the nonstrange-strange mixing angle ϕ: k(i_1)=2 \sin^2 ϕand k(i_2)=2 \cos^2 ϕ. From the total production rates per hadronic Z decay of all light-flavour hadrons measured so far at LEP the values for k are found to be: k(η) \equiv 2-k(η^{ \pr…
This study revisits the issue of the extraction of estimates for the masses and for the partial decay widths to two pions of the scalar-isoscalar $I^G\,(J^{PC}) = 0^+\,(0^{++})$ and vector-isovector $I^G\,(J^{PC}) = 1^+\,(1^{--})$ mesons below $2$ GeV, from the data contained in the recent compilation by the Particle Data Group.
Determination of the quarkonium--gluonium content of the isoscalar tensor resonances $f_2(1920)$, $f_2(2020)$, $f_2(2240)$, $f_2(2300)$ and of the broad state $f_2(2000)$ based on decay couplings to $π^0π^0,ηη,ηη'$
It has been argued that the leading scalar-isoscalar WIMP-nucleus interactions receive parametrically enhanced contributions in the context of nuclear effective field theories. These contributions arise from meson-exchange currents (MECs) and potentially modify the impulse approximation estimates of these interactions by 10--60%. We point out that these MECs also contribute to the quark mass dependence of nuclear binding energies, that is, nuclear σ-terms. In this work, we use recent lattice QCD calculations of the binding energies of the deuteron, He-3 and He-4 at pion masses near 500 MeV and…
We present for the first time a determination of the energy dependence of the isoscalar $ππ$ elastic scattering phase-shift within a first-principles numerical lattice approach to QCD. Hadronic correlation functions are computed including all required quark propagation diagrams, and from these the discrete spectrum of states in the finite volume defined by the lattice boundary is extracted. From the volume dependence of the spectrum we obtain the $S$-wave phase-shift up to the $K\overline{K}$ threshold. Calculations are performed at two values of the $u,d$ quark mass corresponding to $m_π= 236…

Roy's equations and the pion-pion experimental data
In this work, we determine up/down-quark mass $m_{q=u/d}$ in the isoscalar scalar channel from both the Shifman-Vainshtein-Zakharov (SVZ) and the Monte-Carlo-based QCD sum rules. The relevant spectral function, including the contributions from the $f_0(500)$, $f_0(980)$ and $f_0(1370)$ resonances, is determined from a sophisticated $U(3)$ chiral study. Via the traditional SVZ QCD sum rules, we give the prediction to the average light-quark mass $m_q(2 \, \text{GeV})=\frac{1}{2}(m_u(2 \, \text{GeV}) + m_d(2 \, \text{GeV}))=(3.46^{+0.16}_{-0.22} \pm 0.33) \, \text{MeV}$. Meanwhile, by considerin…
We study the imaginary parts of the isoscalar electromagnetic and isovector axial form factors of the nucleon close to the $3π$-threshold in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory. At the two-loop level, the contributions arising from leading and next-to-leading order chiral $πN$-vertices, as well as pion-induced excitations of virtual $Δ(1232)$-isobars, are calculated. It is found that the heavy baryon treatment overestimates substantially these $3π$-continua. From a phenomenological analysis, that includes the narrow $ω(783)$-resonance or the broad $a_1$-resonance, one can recognize sma…
We re-evaluate our model predictions in Phys. Rev. D 79, 013002 (2009) for different observables in neutrino induced coherent pion production. This comes as a result of the new improved fit to old bubble chamber data of the dominant axial C_5^A nucleon-to-Delta form factor. We find an increase of 20%-30% in the values for the total cross sections. Uncertainties induced by the errors in the determination of C_5^A are computed. Our new results turn out to be compatible within about $1σ$ with the former ones. We also stress the existing tension between the recent experimental determination of the…
A detailed investigation of the reaction np -> ppπ^{-} has been carried out using the data obtained with the continuous neutron beam produced by charge exchange scattering of protons off a deuterium target. A partial wave event-by-event based maximum likelihood analysis was applied to determine contributions of different partial waves to the pion production process. The combined analysis of the np -> ppπ^{-} and pp -> ppπ^{0} data measured in the same energy region allows us to determine the contribution of isoscalar partial waves (I=0) in the momentum range from 1.1 up to 1.8 GeV/c. The decay…
The magnitude of four independent amplitudes are determined in charged kaon photoproduction in the energy range of 1500 to 2300MeV incident photon. Differential cross section and three polarization parameters are required for such amplitudes reconstruction at different kaon scattering angles. This analysis has indicated that the magnitudes of spin-flip amplitudes of the target nucleon dominate over the non-flip ones in all energies and scattering angles. The results have been compared with the solution of phase shift analysis sp98 at all energies. This analysis indicates that here is a good ag…
The transverse momentum distributions measured in $p-p$ collisions at the LHC determine the kinetic freeze-out stage of the collision. The parameters deduced from these distributions differ from those determined at chemical freeze-out. The present investigation focuses on the chemical potentials at kinetic freeze-out, these are not necessarily zero as they are at chemical freeze-out, the only constraint is that they should be equal for particles and antiparticles at LHC energies. The thermodynamic variables are determined in the framework of the Tsallis distribution. The chemical potentials in…
We use our latest dispersive analysis of pion-pion scattering data and the very recent Kl4 experimental results to obtain the mass, width and couplings of the two lightest scalar-isoscalar resonances. These parameters are defined from their associated poles in the complex plane. The analytic continuation to the complex plane is made in a model independent way by means of once and twice subtracted dispersion relations for the partial waves, without any other theoretical assumption. We find the f0(600) pole at (457^{+14}_{-13})-i(279^{+11}_{-7}) MeV and that of the f0(980) at (996\pm7)-i(25^{+10…
Process pi p -> pi pi N at high energies and moderate momenta transferred to the nucleon and the determination of parameters of the f_0(980) and f_0(1300)
We discuss the determination of the $f_0(500)$ (or $σ$) resonance by analytic continuation through Padé approximants of the $ππ$-scattering amplitude from the physical region to the pole in the complex energy plane. The aim is to analyze the uncertainties of the method, having in view the fact that analytic continuation is an ill-posed problem in the sense of Hadamard. Using as input a class of admissible parameterizations of the scalar-isoscalar $ππ$ partial wave, which satisfy with great accuracy the same set of dispersive constraints, we find that the Roy-type integral representations lead …
We discuss the determination of the strong coupling $α_\mathrm{\overline{MS}}^{}(m_\mathrm{Z})$ or equivalently the QCD $Λ$-parameter. Its determination requires the use of perturbation theory in $α_s(μ)$ in some scheme, $s$, and at some energy scale $μ$. The higher the scale $μ$ the more accurate perturbation theory becomes, owing to asymptotic freedom. As one step in our computation of the $Λ$-parameter in three-flavor QCD, we perform lattice computations in a scheme which allows us to non-perturbatively reach very high energies, corresponding to $α_s = 0.1$ and below. We find that (continuu…
A detailed analysis is presented of the precise values of the Tsallis parameters obtained in $p-p$ collisions for identified particles, pions, kaons and protons at the LHC at three beam energies $\sqrt{s} = 0.9, 2.76$ and $7$ TeV. Interpolated data at $\sqrt{s} = $ 5.02 TeV have also been included. It is shown that the Tsallis formula provides reasonably good fits to the $p_T$ distributions in $p-p$ collisions at the LHC using three parameters $dN/dy$, $T$ and $q$. However, the parameters $T$ and $q$ depend on the particle species and are different for pions, kaons and protons. As a consequenc…
In the past the analyses of inelastic p+p collision for example in terms of the hadron gas model have assumed that always both protons participate in the interaction. In this article we show that (at sqrt(s) = 17.3 GeV ) on average only 1,89 protons are interacting. Measurements of the mean multiplicities of protons, neutrons, charged pions, charged kaons and Λ hyperons allow to compute the number of initial state nucleons using conservation of baryon number, strangeness, and isospin. We further argue that once the number of initial state nucleons is given and the mean multiplicities of proton…
The lowest-lying resonance in the QCD spectrum is the $0^{++}$ isoscalar $σ$ meson, also known as the $f_0(500)$. We augment SU(2) chiral perturbation theory ($χ$PT) by including the $σ$ meson as an additional explicit degree of freedom, as proposed by Soto, Talavera, and Tarrús and others. In this effective field theory, denoted $χ$PT$_S$, the $σ$ meson's well-established mass and decay width are not sufficient to properly renormalize its self energy. At $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ another low-energy constant appears in the dressed $σ$-meson propagator; we adjust it so that the isoscalar pion-pion sca…
New ZEUS data are added into the NLO QCD analysis of the ZEUS-JETS PDF fit. The addition of high-$Q^2$ NC and CC $e^-p$ inclusive cross-section data improves the determination of the $u$-valence quark at high $x$. The addition of high-$Q^2$ CC $e^+p$ inclusive cross-section data improves the determination of the $d$-valence quark at high $x$. The addition of lower-$Q^2$ NC $e^+p$ inclusive cross-section data, run at three different proton beam energies, improves the determination of the sea and gluon PDFs at small $x$. The new PDF fit is called the ZEUS09 PDF fit.
The entanglement entropy of two-body elastic scattering at high energies is studied by using the model-independent Lévy imaging method for investigating the hadron structure. It is considered the finite entropy in the momentum Hilbert space properly regularized and results are compared to recent evaluation using the diffraction peak approximation. We present the entropy for RHIC, Tevatron and LHC energies pointing out the underlying uncertainties.
