We performed a comparative analysis of the arguments of Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen -- EPR, 1935 (against the completeness of QM) and the theoretical formalism of QM (due to von Neumann, 1932). We found that the EPR considerations do not match at all with the von Neumann's theory. Thus EPR did not criticize the real theoretical model of QM. The root of EPR's paradoxical conclusion on incompleteness of QM is the misuse of von Neumann's projection postulate. EPR applied this postulate to observables with degenerate spectra (which is totally forbidden by the axiomatics of QM).
Continuous-wave light beams with broadband Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlation (Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen beams) are created with two independent squeezed vacua generated by two periodically-poled lithium niobate waveguides and a half beam splitter.

We demonstrate that the Wigner function of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state, though positive definite, provides a direct evidence of the nonlocal character of this state. An entanglement criterion is derived which serves to certify the underlying entanglement only from the observed spatial correlations. By designing a proper unitary operator U, we synthesize NMR analogues of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen states (pseudo-EPR states) using generalized Grover's algorithm on a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) quantum computer. Experiments also demonstrate generalized Grover's algorithm for the case in which there are multiple marked states.
By use of Reid's criterion and entropic criterion, we investigate the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering for some entangled continuous variable wavefunctions. We find that not all of the entangled states violate Reid's EPR inequality and the entropic inequality, this in turn suggests that both criteria are not necessary and sufficient conditions to detect the EPR steering.
We propose an experiment which can demonstrate quantum correlations in a physical scenario as discussed in the seminal work of Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen. Momentum-entangled massive particles are produced via the four-wave mixing process of two colliding Bose-Einstein condensates. The particles' quantum correlations can be shown in a double double-slit experiment or via ghost interference.
We investigate the dynamics of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in a soliplasmonic system where the asymmetrical coupling between linear solitons and nonlinear plasmons is controlled by the weak soliton amplitude. We show that two evanescently coupled $χ^{(2)}$ parametric downconverters inside a Fabry-Perot cavity provide a tunable source of quadrature squeezed light, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations and quantum entanglement. Analysing the operation in the below threshold regime, we show how these properties can be controlled by adjusting the coupling strengths and the cavity detunings. As this can be implemented with integrated optics, it provides a possible route to rugged and stable EPR sources.
We develop the concept of genuine N-partite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering. This nonlocality is the natural multipartite extension of the original EPR paradox. Useful properties emerge that are not guaranteed for genuine multipartite entangled states. In particular, there is a close link with the task of one-sided device-independent quantum secret sharing. We derive inequalities to demonstrate multipartite EPR steering for Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and Gaussian continuous variable (CV) states in loophole-free scenarios.
In comparison with entanglement and Bell nonlocality, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering is a newly emerged research topic and in its incipient stage. We study a possible realization of the position- and momentum-correlated atomic pairs that are confined to adjacent sites of two mutually shifted optical lattices and are entangled via laser-induced dipole-dipole interactions. The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) ``paradox'' [Phys. Rev. 47, 777 (1935)] with translational variables is then modified by lattice-diffraction effects. This ``paradox'' can be verified to a high degree of accuracy in this scheme.
We uncover an apparent instance of classical information transfer via only the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen channel in a quantum optical protocol between Alice and Bob, involving two-photon maximal path entanglement and based on a recent Innsbruck experiment. The signal is traced to the appearance of coherent reduction due to the onset of spatial degeneracy in the eigenvalue spectrum for Alice's measurement. We present our result primarily as an issue for experimental testing rather than as a definitive prediction at this stage.
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering is a form of quantum nonlocality exhibiting an inherent asymmetry between the observers, Alice and Bob. We present a simple class of entangled two-qubit states which are one-way steerable, considering arbitrary projective measurements. That is, Alice can steer the state of Bob, but it is impossible for Bob to steer Alice's state. This shows that the nonlocal properties of entangled states can be fundamentally asymmetrical.
For the Abner Shimony (AS) inequalities, the simplest unified forms of directions attaining the maximum quantum violation are investigated. Based on these directions, a family of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering inequalities is derived from the AS inequalities in a systematic manner. For these inequalities, the local hidden state (LHS) bounds are strictly less than the local hidden variable (LHV) bounds. This means that the EPR steering is a form of quantum nonlocality strictly weaker than Bell-nonlocality.
The nonrelativistic singlet state average $\langle ψ|{\vec a}\cdot\vec σ\otimes {\vec b}\cdot\vec σ|ψ\rangle =-\vec a\cdot\vec b $ can be relativistically generalized if one defines spin {\it via\/} the relativistic center-of-mass operator. The relativistic correction is quadratic in $v/c$ and can be measured in Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm-type experiments with massive spin-1/2 particles. A deviation from the nonrelativistic formula would indicate that for relativistic nonzero-spin particles centers of mass and charge do not coincide.
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering is a form of quantum nonlocality which is weaker than Bell nonlocality, but stronger than entanglement. Here we present a method to check Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in the scenario where the steering party performs two black-box measurements and the trusted party performs projective qubit measurements corresponding to two arbitrary mutually unbiased bases. We calculate the joint probabilities and the correlation function in Einstein--Podolsky--Rosen type experiments with a massive vector boson in the framework of quantum field theory. We report on the strange behavior of the correlation function (and the probabilities) -- the correlation function, which in the relativistic case still depends on the particle momenta, for some fixed configurations has local extrema. It is suggested that a measurement of the products of photoemission by alkali atoms excited after extraction from a trap, might, using the EPR strategy, show a significant violation of the momentum-position uncertainty relation. If this failed, as is quite likely, possible causes, such as retroactive propagation of influences and retrodiction failure, could be tested on the proposed apparatus.
We calculate and investigate the relativistic correlation function for bipartite systems of spin-1/2 in vector and spin-1 particles in tensor states. We show that the relativistic correlation function, which depends on particles momenta, may have local extrema. What is more, the momentum dependance of the correlation functions for two choices of relativistic spin operator may be significantly different.
A local realistic theory is presented for Mermin's special case of the EPRB experiment. The theory, which is readily extended to the general EPRB experiment, reproduces all the predictions of quantum theory. It also reveals that Bell, and also Hess and Philipp, had made an error in the mathematical formulation of Einstein's locality or no action at a distance principle.
We report on a momentum-position realization of the EPR paradox using direct detection in the near and far fields of the photons emitted by collinear type-II phase-matched parametric downconversion. Using this approach we achieved a measured two-photon momentum-position variance product of $0.01\hbar^2$, which dramatically violates the bounds for the EPR and separability criteria.

We calculate the relativistic correlation function for a hybrid system of a photon and a Dirac-particle. Such a system can be produced in decay of another spin-1/2 fermion. We show, that the relativistic correlation function, which depends on particle momenta, may have local extrema for fermion velocity of order 0.5 c. This influences the degree of violation of CHSH inequality.
We investigate the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering and its criticality in quantum phase transition. It is found that the EPR steerability function of the ground state of XY spin chain exhibits nonanalytic feature in the vicinity of a quantum phase transition by showing that its derivative with respect to anisotropy parameter diverges at the critical point. We then verify the universality of the critical phenomena of the EPR steerability function in the system. We also use two-qubit EPR-steering inequality to explore the relation between EPR steering and quantum phase transition.
Relativistic bipartite entangled quantum states is studied to show that Nature doesn't favor nonlocality for massive particles in the ultra-relativistic limit. We found that to an observer (Bob) in a moving frame S', the entangled Bell state shared by Alice and Bob appears as the superposition of the Bell bases in the frame S' due to the requirement of the special relativity. It is shown that the entangled pair satisfies the Bell's inequality when the boost speed approaches the speed of light, thus providing a counter example for nonlocality of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen(EPR) paradox.
Quantum cryptography with the predetermined key was experimentally realized using Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen(EPR) correlations of continuously bright optical beams. Only one of two EPR correlated beams is transmitted with the signals modulated on quadrature phases and amplitudes, and the other one is retained by the authorized receiver. We discuss violation of Bell inequalities by the regularized Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) state, which can be produced in a quantum optical parametric down-conversion process. We propose an experimental photodetection scheme to probe nonlocal quantum correlations exhibited by this state. Furthermore, we show that the correlation functions measured in two versions of the experiment are given directly by the Wigner function and the Q function of the EPR state. Thus, the measurement of these two quasidistribution functions yields a novel scheme for testing quantum nonlocality.
We identify the families of states that maximise some recently proposed quantifiers of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering and the volume of the Quantum Steering Ellipsoid (QSE). The optimal measurements which maximise genuine EPR steering measures are discussed and we develop a novel way to find them using the QSE. We thus explore the links between genuine EPR steering and the QSE and introduce states that can be the most useful for one-sided device-independent quantum cryptography for a given amount of noise.
We demonstrate a complete, probabilistic quantum dynamical simulation of the standard nonlinear Hamiltonian of optomechanics, including decoherence at finite temperatures. Robust entanglement of an optical pulse with the oscillator is predicted, as well as strong quantum steering between the optical and mechanical systems. Importantly, our probabilistic quantum simulation method uses the positive-P technique, which is scalable to large Hilbert spaces.
In this paper we calculate with full details Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen spin correlations in the framework of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. Data sets produced by three different Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPRB) experiments are tested against the hypothesis that the statistics of this data is described by quantum theory. Although these experiments generate data that violate Bell inequalities for suitable choices of the time-coincidence window, the analysis shows that it is highly unlikely that these data sets are compatible with the quantum theoretical description of the EPRB experiment, suggesting that the popular statements that EPRB experiments agree with quantum theory lack a solid scientific basis and that more precise expe…
Within the framework of relativistic quantum theory, we consider the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) gedanken-experiment in which measurements of the spin are performed by moving observers. We find that the perfect anti-correlation in the same direction between the EPR pair no longer holds in the observers' frame. This does not imply a breakdown of the non-local correlation. We explicitly show that the observers must measure the spin in appropriately chosen different directions in order to observe the perfect anti-correlation. We experimentally demonstrate creation and characterization of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) correlation between optical beams in the time domain. The correlated beams are created with two independent continuous-wave optical parametric oscillators and a half beam splitter. We define temporal modes using a square temporal filter with duration $T$ and make time-resolved measurement on the generated state. Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering is known to be a key resource for one-sided device-independent quantum information protocols. Here we demonstrate steering using hybrid entanglement between continuous- and discrete-variable optical qubits. To this end, we report on suitable steering inequalities and detail the implementation and requirements for this demonstration. The spin-$j$ Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen experiment is studied with a view to understanding how classical behaviour emerges as $j \to \infty$. It is proposed that it is necessary to include detector error, which if it is be to viewed as an essential aspect of the emergence of classicality, should be both minimal, i.e., no more than necessary to wash out quantum mechanical behaviour, and agnostic, by which is meant that one should be able to ascribe it to error in the preparation of the state just as well as to the detector.Errors in the state preparation are discussed via the spin Wigner function.…

Data produced by laboratory Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPRB) experiments is tested against the hypothesis that the statistics of this data is given by quantum theory of this thought experiment. Statistical evidence is presented that the experimental data, while violating Bell inequalities, does not support this hypothesis.
