We explore the classical version of the mapping, due to Abanov and Wiegmann, of Calogero-Sutherland hydrodynamics onto the Benjamin-Ono equation ``on the double.'' We illustrate the mapping by constructing the soliton solutions to the hydrodynamic equations, and show how certain subtleties arise from the need to include corrections to the naive replacement of singular sums by principal-part integrals.
The thermodynamic limit of the dynamical density and spin-density two-point correlation functions for the spin Calogero-Sutherland model are derived from Uglov's finite-size results. The resultant formula for the density two-point correlation function is consistent with the previous conjecture on the basis of the minimal number of elementary excitations.
We construct generalizations of the Calogero-Sutherland-Moser system by appropriately reducing a model involving many unitary matrices. The resulting systems consist of particles on the circle with internal degrees of freedom, coupled through modifications of the inverse-square potential. The coupling involves SU(M) non-invariant (anti)ferromagnetic interactions of the internal degrees of freedom. The systems are shown to be integrable and the spectrum and wavefunctions of the quantum version are derived.
Quantum hydrodynamics of interacting electrons with a parabolic single particle spectrum is studied using the Calogero-Sutherland model. The effective action and modulation equations, describing evolution of periodic excitations in the fluid, are derived. Applications to the problem of a single electron tunneling into the FQHE edge state are discussed.
We develop a hydrodynamic description of the classical Calogero-Sutherland liquid: a Calogero-Sutherland model with an infinite number of particles and a non-vanishing density of particles. The hydrodynamic equations, being written for the density and velocity fields of the liquid, are shown to be a bidirectional analogue of Benjamin-Ono equation. The latter is known to describe internal waves of deep stratified fluids. We show that the bidirectional Benjamin-Ono equation appears as a real reduction of the modified KP hierarchy. We derive the Chiral Non-linear Equation which appears as a chira…
We study the hole propagator of the Calogero-Sutherland model with SU(2) internal symmetry. We obtain the exact expression for arbitrary non-negative integer coupling parameter $β$ and prove the conjecture proposed by one of the authors. Our method is based on the theory of the Jack polynomials with a prescribed symmetry.
The present work is much motivated by finding an explicit way in the construction of the Jack symmetric function, which is the spectrum generating function for the Calogero-Sutherland(CS) model. To accomplish this work, the hidden Virasoro structure in the CS model is much explored. In particular, we found that the Virasoro singular vectors form a skew hierarchy in the CS model. Literally, skew is analogous to coset, but here specifically refer to the operation on the Young tableaux. In fact, based on the construction of the Virasoro singular vectors, this hierarchical structure can be used to…
Employing Forrester-Ha method of Jack polynomials, we derive an integral identity connecting certain N-fold coordinate average of the Calogero-Sutherland model with the n-fold replica integral. Subsequent analytical continuation to non-integer n leads to asymptotic expressions for the (static and dynamic) density-density correlation function of the model as well as the Green's function for an arbitrary coupling constant $λ$.
We evaluate the dynamic structure factor $S(q,ω)$ of a one-dimensional quantum Hamiltonian with the inverse-square interaction (Calogero-Sutherland model). For a fixed small $q$, the structure factor differs from zero in a finite interval of frequencies of the width $δω\propto q^2/m$. At the borders of this interval $S(q,ω)$ exhibits power-law singularities with exponents depending only on the interaction strength. The singularities are similar in origin to the well-known Fermi-edge singularity in the X-ray absorption spectra of metals.
We consider the gl(N)-invariant Calogero-Sutherland Models with N=1,2,3,... in a unified framework, which is the framework of Symmetric Polynomials. By the framework we mean an isomorphism between the space of states of the gl(N)-invariant Calogero-Sutherland Model and the space of Symmetric Laurent Polynomials. In this framework it becomes apparent that all gl(N)-invariant Calogero-Sutherland Models are manifestations of the same entity, which is the commuting family of Macdonald Operators. Macdonald Operators depend on two parameters $q$ and $t$. The Hamiltonian of gl(N)-invariant Calogero-S…
Explicit-exact expressions for the particle propagator of the spin 1/2 Calogero-Sutherland model are derived for the system of a finite number of particles and for that in the thermodynamic limit. Derivation of the expression in the thermodynamic limit is also presented in detail. Combining this result with the hole propagator obtained in earlier studies, we calculate the spectral function of the single particle Green's function in the full range of the energy and momentum space. The resultant spectral function exhibits power-law singularity characteristic to correlated particle systems in one…
We investigate the entanglement entropy between two subsets of particles in the ground state of the Calogero-Sutherland model. By using the duality relations of the Jack symmetric polynomials, we obtain exact expressions for both the reduced density matrix and the entanglement entropy in the limit of an infinite number of particles traced out. From these results, we obtain an upper bound value of the entanglement entropy. This upper bound has a clear interpretation in terms of fractional exclusion statistics.
By utilizing the symmetric property known as the Ward-Takahashi identity in disordered systems, we explore the novel symmetry relations which hold in one-dimensional systems with inverse square interaction (the Calogero-Sutherland model). The identities emerge totally from the algebraic structure of the model. They show that the dynamical correlators are connected with one another, involving the higher-order integrals of motion. We obtain the result for the coupling strengths $λ=1/2, 1, and 2$, and conjecture that a similar relation may hold for arbitrary rational $λ$.
We consider the physical properties of elementary excitations of the Calogero-Sutherland (CS) model with SU(K) internal symmetry. From the results on the thermodynamics of this model, we obtain the charge, spin, and statistics of elementary excitations. Combining this knowledge and the known results on the dynamics in the spinless CS model, we propose the expression for the dynamical correlation functions of the SU(K) CS model. In the asymptotic region, we confirm the consistency of our results with predictions from conformal field theory.
Hole propagator of spin 1/2 Calogero-Sutherland model is derived using Uglov's method, which maps the exact eigenfunctions of the model, called Yangian Gelfand-Zetlin basis, to a limit of Macdonald polynomials (gl_2-Jack polynomials). To apply this mapping method to the calculation of 1-particle Green's function, we confirm that the sum of the field annihilation operator on Yangian Gelfand-Zetlin basis is transformed to the field annihilation operator on gl_2-Jack polynomials by the mapping. The resultant expression for hole propagator for finite-size system is written in terms of renormalized…
The BC-type Calogero-Sutherland model (CSM) is an integrable extension of the ordinary A-type CSM that possesses a reflection symmetry point. The BC-CSM is related to the chiral classes of random matrix ensembles (RMEs) in exactly the same way as the A-CSM is related to the Dyson classes. We first develop the fermionic replica sigma-model formalism suitable to treat all chiral RMEs. By exploiting ''generalized color-flavor transformation'' we then extend the method to find the exact asymptotics of the BC-CSM density profile. Consistency of our result with the c=1 Gaussian conformal field theor…
For a one-dimensional model in which the two-body interactions are long-range and strong, the system almost crystallizes. The harmonic modes of such a lattice can be used to compute the ground state wave function and the dynamical density-density correlations. We use this method to calculate the density corrrelations in the Calogero-Sutherland model. We show numerically that the correlations obtained are quite accurate even if the coupling is not very large. Our method is considerably simpler than the ones used to derive the exact results, and yields expressions for the correlations which are …
