We search for the production of a heavy W-prime gauge boson that decays to third generation quarks in 0.9 fb-1 of ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV, collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We find no significant excess in the final-state invariant mass distribution and set upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction. For a left-handed W-prime boson with SM couplings, we set a lower mass limit of 731 GeV. For right-handed W-prime bosons, we set lower mass limits of 739 GeV if the W-prime boson decays to both leptons and quarks and 768 GeV if the W-prime boson decays only to quarks. We also set limits on the coupling of the W-prime boson to fermions as a function of its mass.
A search is performed for W' bosons decaying to a top and a bottom quark in the all-hadronic final state, in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. This paper presents a study of the production of $WW$ or $WZ$ boson pairs, with one $W$ boson decaying to $eν$ or $μν$ and one $W$ or $Z$ boson decaying hadronically. The analysis uses 20.2 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV $pp$ collision data, collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Cross-sections for $WW/WZ$ production are measured in high-$p_{T}$ fiducial regions defined close to the experimental event selection. We propose a novel possibility to detect a very distinctive signal with more than four muons originating from pair-produced vector-like leptons decaying to a muon-philic $Z^\prime$ boson. These new particles are good candidates to explain the anomalies in the muon anomalous magnetic moment and the $b\to s\ell\ell$ processes. The doublet (singlet) vector-like leptons lighter than 1.3 (1.0) TeV are excluded by the latest data at the LHC if $\mathrm{BR}(E\to Z^\prime μ) = 1$. We also show that the excess in the signal region with more than five leptons can be explained by this scenario if the vec…
