Possible exotic stringy signatures at the LHC

In this paper I discuss some string inspired exotic colored matter particles that could be produced at the LHC, as well as the experimental signature for the observation of such states. Their most easily identifiable signature of this scenario is that many of these exotic particles would decay into standard model particles only via higher dimension operators in the effective field theory at a TeV scale. Some of these particles would only have three body decays into standard model particles.

Limits on Stringy Signals at the LHC

We explain what features of string theory can be tested at the LHC. We review the present bounds on the string mass and on extra gauge bosons as well as the prospects for the upcoming experiments.

Stringy origin of diboson and dijet excesses at the LHC

Very recently, the ATLAS and CMS collaborations reported diboson and dijet excesses above standard model expectations in the invariant mass region of 1.8 -2.0 TeV. Interpreting the diboson excess of events in a model independent fashion suggests that the vector boson pair production searches are best described by WZ or ZZ topologies, because states decaying into W^+W^- pairs are strongly constrained by semileptonic searches. Under the assumption of a low string scale, we show that both the diboson and dijet excesses can be steered by an anomalous U(1) field with very small coupling to leptons.…

Production of light stringy states

We discuss the direct production of light stringy states. Those states correspond to the lightest stringy excitations localized at the intersection of two D-brane stacks and their mass can be parametrically smaller than the string scale. Thus in a low string scale scenario one may observe stringy signatures at LHC even in the absence of the usual string resonances. We compute the tree level string scattering amplitude involving two gauge bosons and two such light stringy states. The Ultra-High Jet Multiplicity Signal of Stringy No-Scale F-SU(5) at the \sqrt{s} = 7 TeV LHC

We present the distinctive collider signatures of No-Scale F-SU(5), a highly efficient and phenomenologically favored model built on the tripodal foundations of the F-lipped SU(5) X U(1)_X Grand Unified Theory, extra F-theory derived TeV scale vector-like particle multiplets, and the dynamic high scale boundary conditions of No-Scale Supergravity. A tetraquark or not a tetraquark: A holography inspired stringy hadron (HISH) perspective

We suggest to use the state $Y(4630)$, which decays predominantly to $Λ_c\barΛ_c$, as a window to the landscape of tetraquarks. We propose a simple criterion to decide whether a state is a genuine stringy exotic hadron - a tetraquark - or a "molecule". If it is the former it should be on a (modified) Regge trajectory. We present the predictions of the mass and width of the higher excited states on the $Y(4630)$ trajectory. We argue that there should exist an analogous "$Y_b$" state that decays to $Λ_b\barΛ_b$ and describe its trajectory. We conjecture also a similar trajectory for tetraquarks …

Revisiting light stringy states in view of the 750 GeV diphoton excess

We investigate light massive string states that appear at brane intersections. They replicate the massless spectrum in a richer fashion and may be parametrically lighter than standard Regge excitations. We identify the first few physical states and determine their BRST invariant vertex operators. In the supersymmetric case we reconstruct the super-multiplet structure. We then compute some simple interactions, such as the decay rate of a massive scalar or vector into two massless fermions. A Shift Symmetry in the Higgs Sector: Experimental Hints and Stringy Realizations

We interpret reported hints of a Standard Model Higgs boson at ~ 125 GeV in terms of high-scale supersymmetry breaking with a shift symmetry in the Higgs sector. More specifically, the Higgs mass range suggested by recent LHC data extrapolates, within the (non-supersymmetric) Standard Model, to a vanishing quartic Higgs coupling at a UV scale between 10^6 and 10^18 GeV. Stringy instanton corrections to N=2 gauge couplings

We discuss a string model where a conformal four-dimensional N=2 gauge theory receives corrections to its gauge kinetic functions from "stringy" instantons. These contributions are explicitly evaluated by exploiting the localization properties of the integral over the stringy instanton moduli space. The model we consider corresponds to a setup with D7/D3-branes in type I' theory compactified on T4/Z2 x T2, and possesses a perturbatively computable heterotic dual. The Footprint of F-theory at the LHC

Recent work has shown that compactifications of F-theory provide a potentially attractive phenomenological scenario. The low energy characteristics of F-theory GUTs consist of a deformation away from a minimal gauge mediation scenario with a high messenger scale. The soft scalar masses of the theory are all shifted by a stringy effect which survives to low energies. This effect can range from 0 GeV up to ~ 500 GeV. Ultra High Jet Signals from Stringy No-Scale Supergravity

We present distinctive signatures of flipped F-Theory models with TeV-scale vector-like particles, a \sqrt{s} = 7 TeV 1 fb^{-1} test at LHC of a class of models well-motivated from string theory. The characteristic feature is a light stop and gluino, both sparticles lighter than all other squarks. This unique aspect of the supersymmetry spectrum generates an ultra-high multiplicity of hadronic jets. We find the optimal signal to background ratio is realized for 9 or more jets. String Consistency, Heavy Exotics, and the $750$ GeV Diphoton Excess at the LHC

String consistency conditions are stronger than anomaly cancellation and can require the addition of exotics in the visible sector. We study such exotics and demonstrate that they may account for the modest excess at $750$ GeV in recent diphoton resonance searches performed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. In a previous analysis of type II MSSM D-brane quivers we systematically added up to five exotics for the sake of satisfying string consistency conditions. The decay width of stringy hadrons

In this paper we further develop a string model of hadrons by computing their strong decay widths and comparing them to experiment. The main decay mechanism is that of a string splitting into two strings. The corresponding total decay width behaves as $Γ=\frac\pi2 ATL$ where $T$ and $L$ are the tension and length of the string and $A$ is a dimensionless universal constant. We show that this result holds for a bosonic string not only in the critical dimension. Non-minimal CW inflation, electroweak symmetry breaking and the 750 GeV anomaly

We study whether the hinted 750 GeV resonance at the LHC can be a Coleman-Weinberg inflaton which is non-minimally coupled to gravity. Since the inflaton must couple to new charged and coloured states to reproduce the LHC diphoton signature, the same interaction can generate its effective potential and trigger the electroweak symmetry breaking via the portal coupling to the Higgs boson. This inflationary scenario predicts a lower bound on the tensor-to-scalar ratio of $r\gtrsim 0.006$, where the minimal value corresponds to the measured spectral index $n_s\simeq0.97$.
