We present a measurement of the fraction of inclusive $W$+jets events produced with net charm quantum number $\pm1$, denoted $W$+$c$-jet, in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV using approximately 1~fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We identify the $W$+jets events via the leptonic $W$ boson decays. Candidate $W$+$c$-jet events are selected by requiring a jet containing a muon in association with a reconstructed $W$ boson and exploiting the charge correlation between this muon and $W$ boson decay lepton to perform a nearly model-independent background subtraction. We measure the fraction of $W$+$c$-jet events in the inclusive $W$+jets sample for jet $p_{T}>20$ GeV and pseudorapidity $|η|<2.5$ to be 0.074$\pm0.019$(stat.)$\pm^{0.012}_{0.014}$(syst.), in agreement with theoretical predictions. The probability that background fluctuations could produce the observed fraction of $W$+$c$-jet events is estimated to be $2.5\times 10^{-4}$, which corresponds to a 3.5 $σ$ statistical significance.
A brief survey is given of recent HERA results in jet production and prompt photon production, together with the evaluation of the QCD coupling constant alpha_s.
Some highlights of the session on jets and hadron production are summarised. Results between different experiments and measurements are compared and, in particular, how LEP and HERA complement each other discussed. Improvements in both theory and experiment for jet and hadron production and how the measurements can be used to extract fundamental parameters are addressed.
We present a measurement of the shapes of b-jets using 300 pb-1 of data obtained with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II) in p pbar collisions at center of mass energy sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. This measurement covers a wide transverse momentum range, from 52 to 300 GeV/c. Samples of heavy-flavor enhanced jets together with inclusive jets are used to extract the average shapes of b-jets. The b-jets are expected to be broader than inclusive jets. Moreover, b-jets containing a single b-quark are expected to be narrower than those containing a b bbar pair from gluon splitting. The measure…
Results are presented for the inclusive jet cross section versus jet transverse energy in proton-antiproton collisions at center of mass energy 1.8 TeV as measured by the CDF and D0 detectors at Fermilab's Tevatron collider. The data are compared to next-to-leading order QCD predictions using different input parton distribution functions. The ratio of inclusive jet cross sections at center of mass energy 0.63 TeV and center of mass energy 1.8 TeV, versus jet x_T, is also presented and compared to QCD predictions.
This Letter describes measurements of inclusive W (--> e nu) + n jet cross sections (n = 1-4), presented as total inclusive cross sections and differentially in the nth jet transverse momentum. The measurements are made using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb-1 collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, and achieve considerably smaller uncertainties on W +jets production cross sections than previous measurements. The measurements are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations in the n =1-3 jet multiplicity bins and to lead…
The inclusive and dijet production cross-sections have been measured for jets containing b-hadrons (b-jets) in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurements use data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb^-1. The b-jets are identified using either a lifetime-based method, where secondary decay vertices of b-hadrons in jets are reconstructed using information from the tracking detectors, or a muon-based method where the presence of a muon is used to identify semileptonic decays of b-hadrons inside jets. …
The inclusive $t\bar{t}$ production cross-section is measured in the lepton+jets channel using 20.2 fb$^{-1}$ of proton--proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Major systematic uncertainties due to the modelling of the jet energy scale and $b$-tagging efficiency are constrained by separating selected events into three disjoint regions. In order to reduce systematic uncertainties in the most important background, the W+jets process is modelled using Z+jets events in a data-based approach. The inclusive $t\bar{t}$ cross-section is m…
The inclusive production cross sections for forward jets, as well for jets in dijet events with at least one jet emitted at central and the other at forward pseudorapidities, are measured in the range of transverse momenta pt = 35-150 GeV/c in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. Forward jets are measured within pseudorapidities 3.2<|eta|<4.7, and central jets within the |eta|<2.8 range. The double differential cross sections with respect to pt and eta are compared to predictions from three approaches in perturbative quantum chromodynamics: (i) next-to-…
We measure the ratio of cross sections, $σ(p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z+2~b~\text{jets})$/$σ(p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z+\text{2 jets})$, for associated production of a $Z$ boson with at least two jets with transverse momentum $p_T^{\rm jet} > 20$ GeV and pseudorapidity $|η^{\rm jet}| < 2.5$. This measurement uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the \DO experiment in Run II of Fermilab's Tevatron \ppbar Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The measured integrated ratio of $0.0236\pm0.0032\left(\mbox{stat}\right)\pm0.0035\left(\mbox{syst}\right)$ is i…
Differential inclusive-jet cross sections have been measured in photoproduction for boson virtualities Q^2 < 1 GeV^2 with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 300 pb^-1. Jets were identified in the laboratory frame using the k_T, anti-k_T or SIScone jet algorithms. Cross sections are presented as functions of the jet pseudorapidity, eta(jet), and the jet transverse energy, E_T(jet). Next-to-leading-order QCD calculations give a good description of the measurements, except for jets with low E_T(jet) and high eta(jet). The cross sections have the potential to improve the d…
Inclusive jet cross sections in Z/gamma^* events, with Z/gamma^* decaying into an electron-positron pair, are measured as a function of jet transverse momentum and jet multiplicity in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II, based on an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb^-1. The measurements cover the rapidity region | yjet | < 2.1 and the transverse momentum range ptjet > 30 GeV/c. Next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are in good agreement with the measured cross sections.
Inclusive jet cross sections in Z/γ^* events, with Z/γ^* decaying into an electron-positron pair, are measured as a function of jet transverse momentum and jet multiplicity in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II, based on an integrated luminosity of 2.5 fb-1. The measurements cover the rapidity region |yjet | < 2.1 and the transverse momentum range ptjet > 30 GeV/c. Next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are in good agreement with the measured cross sections.
Recent studies have highlighted the potential of jet substructure techniques to identify the hadronic decays of boosted heavy particles. These studies all rely upon the assumption that the internal substructure of jets generated by QCD radiation is well understood. In this article, this assumption is tested on an inclusive sample of jets recorded with the ATLAS detector in 2010, which corresponds to 35 pb^-1 of pp collisions delivered by the LHC at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. In a subsample of events with single pp collisions, measurementes corrected for detector efficiency and resolution are presented w…
Measurements are presented of the cross section for the production of at least four jets, of which at least two originate from b quarks, in proton-proton collisions. Data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 inverse picobarns. The cross section is measured as a function of the jet transverse momentum for pt > 20 GeV, and of the jet pseudorapidity for abs(eta) < 2.4 (b jets), 4.7 (untagged jets). The correlations in azimuthal angle and pt between the jets are also studied. The inclusive cross sect…
The inclusive cross-section for jet production in association with a Z boson decaying into an electron-positron pair is measured as a function of the transverse momentum and the absolute rapidity of jets using 19.9 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt s = 8$ TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measured Z + jets cross-section is unfolded to the particle level. The cross-section is compared with state-of-the-art Standard Model calculations, including the next-to-leading-order and next-to-next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations, correcte…
Jet vetoes are essential in many Higgs and new-physics analyses at the LHC and Tevatron. The signals are typically characterized by a specific number of hard jets, leptons, or photons, while the backgrounds often have additional jets. In such cases vetoing undesired additional jets is an effective way to discriminate signals and background. Given an inclusive event sample with N or more jets, the veto to have only N energetic jets defines an "exclusive" N-jet cross section. This strongly restricts the phase space of the underlying inclusive N-jet cross section and causes large double logarithm…
The cross sections for the production of tt-bar bb-bar and tt-bar jj events and their ratio sigma[tt-bar bb-bar]/sigma[tt-bar jj] are measured using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 inverse femtobarns collected in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Events with two leptons (e or mu) and at least four reconstructed jets, including at least two identified as b quark jets, in the final state are selected. In the full phase space, the measured ratio is 0.022 +/- 0.003 (stat) +/- 0.006 (syst), the cross section sigma[tt-bar bb-bar] is 4.0 +/- 0.6…
A selection of recent jet measurements are presented from the ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, focusing on substructure results for inclusive and charmed jets. The groomed jet momentum fractions ($z_g$) of inclusive full jets are shown for various jet resolution parameters, and $z_g$, the groomed splitting radius ($θ_g$) as well as the number of soft drops ($n_{\rm SD}$) of inclusive and charmed charged-particle jets are compared. The first direct measurement of the dead cone in heavy-flavor jets is also presented. Furthermore, the parallel mom…
We present an update to the analysis of fully reconstructed jets in heavy ion collisions by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC. We analyse the response of the anti-$k_{T}$ algorithm in the presence of background, and present a new observable for the measurement of inclusive jet production that is expected to be more robust against background model assumptions than previous jet analyses at RHIC and LHC.
The inclusive and fiducial $t\bar{t}$ production cross-sections are measured in the lepton+jets channel using 20.2 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Major systematic uncertainties due to the modelling of the jet energy scale and $b$-tagging efficiency are constrained by separating selected events into three disjoint regions. In order to reduce systematic uncertainties in the most important background, the W+jets process is modelled using Z+jets events in a data-driven approach. The inclusive $t\bar{t}$ cro…
A measurement of inclusive four-jet production in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is presented. The transverse momenta of jets within $\lvertη\rvert$ $\lt$ 4.7 reach down to 35, 30, 25, and 20 GeV for the first-, second-, third-, and fourth-leading jet, respectively. Differential cross sections are measured as functions of the jet transverse momentum, jet pseudorapidity, and several other observables that describe the angular correlations between the jets. The measured distributions show sensitivity to different aspects of the underlying event, parton shower, and …
A sample of 2.2 million hadronic Z decays, selected from the data recorded by the Delphi detector at LEP during 1994-1995 was used for an improved measurement of inclusive distributions of pi+, K+ and p and their antiparticles in gluon and quark jets. The production spectra of the individual identified particles were found to be softer in gluon jets compared to quark jets, with a higher multiplicity in gluon jets as observed for inclusive charged particles. A significant proton enhancement in gluon jets is observed indicating that baryon production proceeds directly from colour objects. The ma…
Recent jet results in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV from the CDF experiment at the Tevatron are presented. The jet inclusive cross section is compared to next-to-leading order QCD prediction in different rapidity regions. The $b$-jet inclusive cross section is measured exploiting the long lifetime and large mass of $B$-hadrons. Jet shapes, W+jets and W/Z+photon cross sections are also measured and compared to expectations from QCD production.
Photon plus jet production has been studied by the D0 experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a centre of mass energy of sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. Measurements of the inclusive photon, inclusive photon plus jet, photon plus heavy flavour jet cross sections and double parton interactions in photon plus three jet events are presented. They are based on integrated luminosities between 0.4 fb$^-1 and 1.0 fb^-1. The results are compared to perturbative QCD calculations in various approximations.
In this paper, selected CMS measurements sensitive to low-x QCD are presented: inclusive cross-sections for forward-central jets production at \sqrt{s}=7 TeV, inclusive cross-sections for forward jets production at 7 TeV and 8 TeV, inclusive to exclusive dijets production cross-sections ratios and correlations of Mueller-Navelet dijets at 7 TeV. Results for data are compared to predictions of theoretical models.
Natural SUSY suggests the existence of light stop quarks, accessible at the LHC, which are the focus of a dedicated CMS search program. I present two inclusive CMS searches that look for TeV scale colored sparticles in final states with jets, b-tagged jets and missing transverse energy performed using up to 19.4fb-1 of 8TeV LHC proton-proton data. No deviation from the Standard Model was observed in these searches, and the implications for this was shown for several simplified model scenarios and phenomenological MSSM.
This Thesis presents the measurement of the inclusive jet cross section using the full 2010 data set, corresponding to 37 pb^{-1} collected by ATLAS. Jets with p_{T} > 20 GeV and |y| < 4.4 are considered in this analysis. The measurement of the jet shapes using the first 3 pb^{-1} is also presented, for jets with p_{T} > 30 GeV and |y| < 2.8. Both measurements are unfolded back to the particle level. Results are compared to theoretical predictions, showing the potential of the measurements to test QCD, and its importance in the search for new physics.
We report the measurement of charged $D^*$ mesons in inclusive jets produced in proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV with the STAR experiment at RHIC. For $D^{*}$ mesons with fractional momenta $0.2 < z < 0.5$ in inclusive jets with 11.5 GeV mean transverse energy, the production rate is found to be $N(D^{*+}+D^{*-})/N(\mathrm{jet}) = 0.015 \pm 0.008 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.007 (\mathrm{sys})$. This rate is consistent with perturbative QCD evaluation of gluon splitting into a pair of charm quarks and subsequent hadronization.
The double-differential inclusive di-jet cross section in photoproduction processes is measured with the H1 detector at HERA. The cross section is determined as a function of the average transverse jet energy E_T^jets for ranges of the fractional energy x_gamma^jets of the parton from the photon side. An effective leading order parton distribution in the photon is determined at large parton fractional energies for scales between 80<p_T^2<1250 GeV^2. The measurement is compatible with the logarithmic scale dependence that is predicted by perturbative QCD.
Following on our earlier work on leading-logarithmic (LLR) resummations for the properties of jets with a small radius, R, we here examine the phenomenological considerations for the inclusive jet spectrum. We discuss how to match the NLO predictions with small-R resummation. As part of the study we propose a new, physically-inspired prescription for fixed-order predictions and their uncertainties. We investigate the R-dependent part of the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections, which is found to be substantial, and comment on the implications for scale choices in inclusive jet calc…
We report on a measurement of the inclusive jet production cross section in pp-bar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using data collected with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II (CDF II) corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 385 pb^-1. Jets are reconstructed using the kt algorithm. The measurement is carried out for jets with rapidity 0.1 < | yjet | < 0.7 and transverse momentum in the range 54 < ptjet < 700 GeV/c. The measured cross section is in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions after the necessary non-perturbative parton-to-hadron…

Also studies of integrated jet shape and jet radius dependencies in DIS performed by the ZEUS Collaborations are discussed. All the measurements are found to be well described by calculations at the next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. A combined determination of the value of the strong coupling constant alpha_s(M_Z) from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations using inclusive-jet cross-section measurement…
We report a study of final states containing a W boson and hadronic jets, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN LHC and comprise the full 2010 data sample of 36 pb^-1. Cross sections are determined using both the electron and muon decay modes of the W boson and are presented as a function of inclusive jet multiplicity, N_jet, for up to five jets. At each multiplicity, cross sections are presented as a function of jet transverse momentum, the scalar sum of the transverse momenta of the charged lepton…
This paper presents a measurement of the inclusive 3-jet production differential cross section at a proton-proton centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 inverse femtobarns collected with the CMS detector. The analysis is based on the three jets with the highest transverse momenta. The cross section is measured as a function of the invariant mass of the three jets in a range of 445-3270 GeV and in two bins of the maximum rapidity of the jets up to a value of 2. A comparison between the measurement and the prediction from perturbative QCD at next…

A comparison between $π^{0}$-triggered recoil jets in p+p collisions and PYTHIA is discussed. A comparison is also presented between the suppression of $γ_{dir}$- and $π^{0}$-triggered recoil jets in central Au+Au collisions with …
The inclusive photoproduction of D\ast mesons and of D\ast-tagged dijets is investigated with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q2 < 2 GeV2 and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies of 100 < Wgp < 285 GeV. Inclusive D\ast meson differential cross sections are measured for central rapidities |eta(D\ast)| < 1.5 and transverse momenta pT (D\ast) > 1.8 GeV. The heavy quark production process is further investigated in events with at least two jets with transverse momentum pT (jet) > 3.5 GeV each, one containing the D\ast meson. Different…
We report on a new measurement of the rapidity dependence of the inclusive jet production cross section in pbar p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV using 92 pb^-1 of data collected by the DZero detector at the Tevatron collider. The differential cross sections, d^2sigma/(dEt deta), are presented as a function of jet transverse energy (Et) in five pseudorapidity (eta) intervals, up to |eta|=3, significantly extending previous CDF and DZero measurements beyond |eta|=0.7. The extended range of the measurement should provide greater discrimination among different parton distribution functions. We also…
New results on inclusive production of Sigma^- and Lambda(1520) and on proton production in quark and gluon jets are presented. These results are based on 2 million hadronic Z decays collected with the DELPHI detector at LEP. They are compared with the results of other LEP experiments and with models. It has been shown that the total production rates of all light-flavour hadrons measured so far at LEP 1 follow phenomenological laws related to the spin, isospin, strangeness and mass of the particles. A significant proton enhancement in gluon jets is observed, indicating that baryon production p…
Charged-particle fragmentation functions for jets azimuthally balanced by a high-transverse-momentum, prompt, isolated photon are measured in $25$ pb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ and $0.49$ nb$^{-1}$ of Pb+Pb collision data at $5.02$ TeV per nucleon pair recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are compared to predictions of Monte Carlo generators and to measurements of inclusively selected jets. In $pp$ collisions, a different jet fragmentation function in photon-tagged events from that in inclusive jet events arises from the difference in fragmentation between light …
The measurement of jets recoiling from a trigger hadron in heavy-ion collisions can be used to understand the properties of the Quark Gluon Plasma. Jet-medium interactions cause jets to lose energy in the medium and may modify the jet structure. Jet deflection towards large angles due to scattering off of quasi-particles in the Quark-Gluon Plasma may also occur, which can be studied through a measurement of the hadron-jet acoplanarity. These phenomena can be studied through the semi-inclusive distribution of track-based jets recoiling from a trigger hadron. This contribution presents the lates…
Measurement of the inclusive $t\bar{t}$ production cross section in the lepton+jets channel in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector using support vector machines
The internal structure of jets produced in pp collisions at the LHC is measured using the ATLAS detector in an inclusive jet sample corresponding to 35pb-1 of pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. Classical jet shape and energy flow measurements are complemented with measurements of new substructure observables with comparisons made to several leading order parton shower Monte Carlo programs. The jet invariant mass and \kt splitting scale are measured for anti-kt jets with a distance parameter of R=1.0 and Cambridge-Aachen jets with R=1.2. Furthermore, a splitting and filtering procedure is applie…
Inclusive and differential cross section measurements of $\text{t}\bar{\text{t}}\text{b}\bar{\text{b}}$ production in the lepton+jets channel at $\sqrt{s} = 13\text{ TeV}$

Measurements are carried out on jets with rapidity $0.1 < |Y^{\rm jet}| < 0.7$ and transverse momentum 37 GeV/c $< P_T^{\rm jet} < 380$ GeV/c. The jets have been corrected to the hadron level. The measured jet shapes are compared to leading-order QCD parton-shower Monte Carlo predictions as implemented in the PYTHIA and HERWIG programs. PYTHIA, tuned to …
This paper reports inclusive and differential measurements of the $t\bar{t}$ charge asymmetry $A_{\textrm{C}}$ in 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV $pp$ collisions recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Three differential measurements are performed as a function of the invariant mass, transverse momentum and longitudinal boost of the $t\bar{t}$ system. The $t\bar{t}$ pairs are selected in the single-lepton channels ($e$ or $μ$) with at least four jets, and a likelihood fit is used to reconstruct the $t\bar{t}$ event kinematics. A Bayesian unfolding procedure …

The data were taken using the ZEUS detector at HERA and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 38.6 pb-1. Jets were identified in the Breit frame using the longitudinally invariant K_T cluster algorithm. Measurements of differential inclusive jet cross sections are presented as functions of jet transverse energy (E_T,jet), jet pseudorapidity and Q**2, for jets with E_T,jet>8 GeV. Next-to-leading-order QCD calculations agree well with the measu…
This review discusses the measurements of the inclusive jet and dijet cross section performed by the experimental collaborations at the LHC during what is now being called LHC Run 1 (2009 - 2013). It summarises some of the experimental challenges and the techniques used in the measurements of jets cross sections during the LHC Run 1.
A review of ATLAS and CMS measurements of the inclusive $t\bar{t}$ production cross-section in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$7-13 TeV is presented, focusing on the most precise results in the dilepton and lepton+jets final states. The measurements are in good agreement with state-of-the-art QCD predictions, and have been used to determine the top quark pole mass and provide constraints on proton parton distribution functions.
We present preliminary measurements of $Z/γ^*$+jets, $W+c$ and $Z+b+X$ at the Tevatron, and review recent measurements of vector boson plus inclusive and heavy-flavor jets production. All measurements are in agreement with next-to-leading-order QCD calculations within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties. We also point to comparisons of the production rate and kinematics of the data with several Monte Carlo simulation programs of vector boson + jets processes.
Jets, clusters of collimated particles produced in high energy proton-proton ($pp$) collisions, are an excellent tool to study the internal structure of the proton. According to perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations, for center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = $ 200 and 510 GeV at RHIC, jet production in the mid pseudorapidity, $|η| <$ 1, is dominated by quark-gluon and gluon-gluon scattering processes. These jets are sensitive to gluons in the proton with momentum fraction 0.01 $<x<$ 0.5. The STAR experiment has measured a series of jet double-spin asymmetries within the pseudorapidity region o…
Latest results on inclusive top-quark pair production cross-sections are presented using collision data collected by ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC. Inclusive and differential measurements of top-quark pair production cross-sections from ATLAS and CMS are presented in the resolved and boosted kinematic regions. The cross-sections are measured as a function of various kinematic observables of the top quarks, the jets and leptons of the event final state.
A study of dijet production in proton-proton collisions was performed at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV for jets with pt > 35 GeV and abs(y) < 4.7 using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2010. Events with at least one pair of jets are denoted as "inclusive". Events with exactly one pair of jets are called "exclusive". The ratio of the cross section of all pairwise combinations of jets to the exclusive dijet cross section as a function of the rapidity difference between jets abs(Delta(y)) is measured for the first time up to abs(Delta(y)) = 9.2. The ratio of the cross section for the pair con…
A comprehensive overview of the latest aspects of jet physics in proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV is presented. In particular, measurements of the inclusive jet production, dijet and multi-jet production, and jet substructure studies are discussed.
We present next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative-QCD calculations of the cross sections for $\ell N\to h X$ and $\ell N\to \mathrm{jet}\, X$. The main feature of these processes is that the scattered lepton is not observed, so that the hard scale that makes them perturbative is set by the transverse momentum of the hadron or jet. Kinematically, the two processes thus become direct analogs of single-inclusive production in hadronic collisions which, as has been pointed out in the literature, makes them promising tools for exploring transverse spin phenomena in QCD when the incident nucleon i…
Measurement of the inclusive $\mathrm{t\bar{t}}$ cross section in final states with at least one lepton and additional jets with 302 pb$^{-1}$ of pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 5.02 TeV
We present a preliminary measurement of the inclusive jet cross-sections based on an integrated luminosity of 378 pb^{-1} acquired with the D0 detector between 2002 and 2004 at a center of mass energy of \sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV and a measurement of azimuthal dijet decorrelations based on an integrated luminosity of 150 pb^{-1}. The cross section measurements are based on an iterative cone algorithm with a cone size of R=0.7. They are performed in two rapidity bins between 0.0 and 0.8. The measurements are in good agreement with next to leading order calculations. The azimuthal angle between the two …
We present a new preliminary measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in pp-bar collisions based on a integrated luminosity of about 0.8 fb-1. The data were acquired using the D0 detector between 2002 and 2005. Jets are reconstructed using an iterative cone algorithm with radius R_cone = 0.7. The inclusive jet cross section is presented as a function of transverse jet momentum and rapidity. Predictions from perturbative QCD in next-to-leading order, plus threshold corrections in 2-loop accuracy describe the shape in the transverse jet momentum.
