We evaluate the complex frequencies of the normal modes for the massive charged scalar field perturbations around a Reissner-Nördstrom black hole surrounded by a static and spherically symmetric quintessence using third order WKB approximation approach. Due to the presence of quintessence, quasinormal frequencies damp more slowly. We studied the variation of quasinormal frequencies with charge of the black bole, mass and charge of perturbating scalar field and the quintessential state parameter.
We analyze in detail the highly damped quasinormal modes of $D$-dimensional extremal Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{\rm{o}}$m and Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{\rm{o}}$m-de Sitter black holes. We only consider the extremal case where the event horizon and the Cauchy inner horizon coincide. We show that, even though the topology of the Stokes/anti-Stokes lines in the extremal case is different than the non-extremal case, the highly damped quasinormal mode frequencies of extremal black holes match exactly with the extremal limit of the non-extremal black hole quasinormal mode frequencies.
The dirac quasinormal modes of the Reissner-Nordström black hole surrounded by quintessence are investigated using the third WKB approximation. We find that the magnitude of the imaginary part of the quasinormal mode frequencies increases firstly and then decreases as the charge $Q$ increases, but it decreases as the absolute value of $w_{q}$ increases. The magnitude of the imaginary part of quasinormal complex frequencies is smaller than those with no quintessence. That is to say, the dirac field damps more slowly due to the presence of quintessence.
We evaluate the quasinormal modes of massless scalar field around Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{\text{o}}$m black hole surrounded by a static and spherically symmetric quintessence by using the continued fraction method. The appropriate Frobenius series for three special cases of the quintessence parameter $ ε= -1/3, -2/3$ and $-1$ are derived successfully. We show that the variation of quasinormal frequencies with charge of the black hole and the quintessential parameters. The numerical results show that quintessence field decreases oscillation frequencies of all angular momentum $l$ modes and incre…
In this paper, we investigate the photon sphere, shadow radius and quasinormal modes of a charged black hole in presence of quintessence. The result shows that the shadow radius decreases with the increase of the electric charge. The quasinormal modes are derived by the sixth WKB approximation method and shadow radius, respectively. For the fixed electric charge and multipole number, the values of the real and imaginary parts of the quasinormal modes decrease with the increase of the quintessence charge. When the value of the multipole number is large, the quasinormal modes derived by the two …
We present the quasinormal frequencies of the massive scalar field in the background of a Schwarzchild black hole surrounded by quintessence with the third-order WKB method. The mass of the scalar field $u$ plays an important role in studying the quasinormal frequencies, the real part of the frequencies increases linearly as mass $u$ increases, while the imaginary part in absolute value decreases linearly which leads to damping more slowly and the frequencies having a limited value. Moreover, owing to the presence of the quintessence, the massive scalar field damps more slowly.
Using the third-order WKB approximation, we evaluate the quasinormal frequencies of massless scalar field perturbation around the black hole which is surrounded by the static and spherically symmetric quintessence. Our result shows that due to the presence of quintessence, the scalar field damps more rapidly. Moreover, we also note that the quintessential state parameter $ε$ (the ratio of pressure $p_q$ to the energy density $ρ_q$) play an important role for the quasinormal frequencies. As the state parameter $ε$ increases the real part increases and the absolute value of the imaginary part de…
In this paper, we investigate the photon sphere, shadow radius and quasinormal modes of a $4$-dimensional black hole with a deficit solid angle and quintessence-like matter. We find that the radii of the photon sphere and shadow decrease with the decreases of the deficit solid angle and density of quintessence-like matter. The quasinormal modes are gotten by the sixth order WKB approximation method and shadow radius, respectively. The values of the real part and imaginary parts of the quasinormal modes increase with the decrease of the values of the deficit solid angle and density of quintesse…
In the previous paper (Li, X. Z., Xi, P., Zhai, X. H.: Phys. Lett. B{\bf666}, 125-130 (2008)), we show the solutions of Einstein equations with static spherically-symmetric quintessence-like matter surrounding a global monopole. Furthermore, this monopole become a black hole with quintessence-like matter and a deficit solid angle when it is swallowed by an ordinary black hole. We study its quasinormal modes by WKB method in this paper. The numerical results show that both the real part of the quasinormal frequencies and the imaginary part decrease as the state parameter $w$, for scalar and gra…
We compute characteristic (quasinormal) frequencies corresponding to decay of a massive charged scalar field in a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole background. It proves that, contrary to the behavior at very late times, at the stage of quasinormal ringing the neutral perturbations will damp slower than the charged ones. In the limit of the extremal black hole the damping rate of charged and neutral perturbations coincides. Possible connection of this with the critical collapse in a massive scalar electrodynamics is discussed.
The Newman-Penrose formalism is used to deal with the quasinormal modes(QNM's) of Rarita-Schwinger perturbations outside a Reissner-Nordström black hole. We obtain four kinds of possible expressions of effective potentials, which are proved to be of the same spectra of quasinormal mode frequencies. The quasinormal mode frequencies evaluated by the WKB potential approximation show that, similar to those for Dirac perturbations, the real parts of the frequencies increase with the charge $Q$ and decrease with the mode number $n$, while the dampings almost keep unchanged as the charge increases.
In this paper, we evaluated the quasinormal modes of electromagnetic perturbation in a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by the static spherically symmetric quintessence by using the third-order WKB approximation when the quintessential state parameter $ w_{q}$ in the range of $-1/3<w_{q}<0$. Due to the presence of quintessence, Maxwell field damps more slowly. And when at $-1<w_{q}<-1/3$, it is similar to the black hole solution in the ds/Ads spacetime. The appropriate boundary conditions need to be modified.
We evaluate the quasinormal modes of massless Dirac perturbation in a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by the free static spherically symmetric quintessence by using the third-order WKB approximation. The result shows that due to the presence of quintessence, the massless field damps more slowly. The real part of the quasinormal modes increases and the the absolute value of the imaginary part increases when the state parameter $w_q$ increases. In other words, the massless Dirac field decays more rapidly for the larger $w_q$. And the peak value of potential barrier gets higher as $|k|$ incre…
We present detailed calculations of the quasinormal modes of Reissner-Nordstrom black holes. While the first few, slowly damped, modes depend on the charge of the black hole in a relatively simple way, we find that the rapidly damped modes show several peculiar features. The higher modes generally spiral into the value for the extreme black hole as the charge increases. We also discuss the possible existence of a purely imaginary mode for the Schwarzschild black hole: Our data suggest that there is a quasinormal mode that limits to $ωM = -2i$ as $Q\to 0$.
Black hole thermodynamic stability can be determined by studying the nature of heat capacity of the system. For Schwarzschild black hole the heat capacity is negative, but in the quintessence field this system shows a second order phase transition, implying the existence of a stable phase. We further discuss the equation of state of the present system. While analyzing the quasinormal modes, we find that the massive scalar quasinormal mode frequencies in the complex $ω$ plane shows a dramatic change when we plot it as a progressive function of quintessence state parameter. We also find the Hawk…
We calculate the quasinormal modes of static spherically symmetric dilatonic Reissner-Nordström black holes for general values of the electric charge and of the dilaton coupling constant. The spectrum of quasinormal modes is composed of five families of modes: polar and axial gravitational-led modes, polar and axial electromagnetic-led modes, and polar scalar-led modes. We make a quantitative analysis of the spectrum, revealing its dependence on the electric charge and on the dilaton coupling constant. For large electric charge and large dilaton coupling, strong deviations from the Reissner-No…
The quasinormal spectrum of a charged scalar field around a non-extremal Reissner-Nordström black hole, specially in the limit of large electromagnetic interaction, has been comprehensively studied only very recently. In this work, we extend the analysis to Dirac fields using the continued fraction method and compare the results with the scalar case. In particular, we study the behaviour of the fundamental quasinormal mode as a function of the black hole's charge and of the electromagnetic interaction parameter. We derive an analytical formula for the quasinormal frequencies in the limit of la…
We analyze in detail the highly damped quasinormal modes of $d$-dimensional Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{\rm{o}}$m black holes with small charge, paying particular attention to the large but finite damping limit in which the Schwarzschild results should be valid. In the infinite damping limit, we confirm using different methods the results obtained previously in the literature for higher dimensional Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{\rm{o}}$m black holes. Using a combination of analytic and numerical techniques we also calculate the transition of the real part of the quasinormal mode frequency from the Reissne…
In this paper, the quasinormal modes of gravitational perturbation around a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence were evaluated by using the third-order WKB approximation. Due to the presence of quintessence, the gravitational wave damps more slowly.
In this paper, we apply the new Gedanken experiment to investigate the weak cosmic censorship conjecture for Reissner-Nordström AdS black holes surrounded by quintessence. Since the perturbation of matter fields doesn't affect the spacetime geometry, we propose the stability condition and assume the process of matter fields falling into the black hole satisfies the null energy condition. Based on Iyer-Wald formalism we can derive the first order and second-order variational identities. From the two identities and the above two conditions lead to the first-order and second-order perturbation in…
The neutrino quasinormal modes of the Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole are investigated using continued fraction approach. We find, for large angular quantum number, that the quasinormal frequencies become evenly spaced and the spacing of the real part depends on the charge of the black hole and that of the imaginary part is zero. We then find that the quasinormal frequencies in the complex $ω$ plane move counterclockwise as the charge increases. They get a spiral-like shape, moving out of their Schwarzschild value and ``looping in" towards some limiting frequency as the charge tends to the …
What should be the quasinormal modes associated with a spacetime that contains a naked singularity instead of a black hole? In the present work we address this problem by studying the scattering of scalar fields on a curved background described by a Reissner-Nordström spacetime with $|q| > m$. We show that there is a qualitative difference between cases with $1 < q^2/m^2 \lesssim 9/8$ and cases with $q^2/m^2 \gtrsim 9/8$. We discuss the necessary conditions for the well-posedness of the problem, and present results for the low damped modes in the low $l$ and large $l$ limit. We also consider t…
Here we show that the phenomenon of arbitrarily long-lived quasinormal modes (called quasiresonances) of a massive scalar field in the vicinity of a black hole is not an artifact of the test field approximation, but takes place also when the (derivative) coupling of a scalar field with the Einstein tensor is taken into consideration. We observe that at large coupling and high multipole numbers, the growing modes appear in the spectrum, which are responsible for the eikonal instability of the field. For small coupling, when the configuration is stable, there appear the purely imaginary quasinor…
We investigate the numerical stability of accelerated AdS black holes against linear scalar perturbations. In particular, we study the evolution of a probe non-minimally coupled scalar field on Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström AdS black holes with small accelerations by computing the quasinormal modes of the perturbation spectrum. We decompose the scalar field Klein-Gordon equation and study the eigenvalue problem for its angular and radial-temporal parts using different numerical methods. The angular part is written in terms of the Heun solution and expanded through the Frobenius method w…
We investigate quasinormal modes (QNMs) and Hawking radiation of a Reissner-Nordström black hole sur-rounded by quintessence. The Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) method is used to evaluate the QNMs and the rate of radiation. The results show that due to the interaction of the quintessence with the background metric, the QNMs of the black hole damp more slowly when increasing the density of quintessence and the black hole radiates at slower rate.
In this paper, we investigate analytically the level space of the imaginary part of quasinormal frequencies for a black hole with a deficit solid angle and quintessence-like matter by the Padmanabhan's method \cite{Padmanabhan}. Padmanabhan presented a method to study analytically the imaginary part of quasinormal frequencies for a class of spherically symmetric spacetimes including Schwarzschild-de Sitter black holes which has an evenly spaced structure. The results show that the level space of scalar and gravitational quasinormal frequencies for this kind of black holes only depend on the su…
It is shown that the scalar wave equation in the near-horizon limit respects a hidden SL(2,R) invariance in the Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black hole spacetimes. We use the SL(2,R) symmetry to determine algebraically the purely imaginary quasinormal frequencies of the RN black hole. We confirm that these are exactly quasinormal modes of scalar perturbation around the near-extremal black hole.
The anomalous decay rate of the quasinormal modes occurs when the longest-lived modes are the ones with higher angular number. Such behaviour has been recently studied in different static spacetimes, for uncharged scalar and fermionic perturbations, being observed in both cases. In this work we consider the propagation of charged massive scalar fields in the background of Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter black holes and we mainly study the effect of the scalar field charge in the spectrum of quasinormal frequencies, as well as, its effect on the anomalous decay rate. Mainly, we show that the anoma…
We investigate thermodynamics and Phase transition of the Reissner-Nordström black hole surrounded by quintessence. Using thermodynamical laws of black holes, we derive the expressions of some thermodynamics quantities for the Reissner-Nordström black hole surrounded by quintessence. The variations of the temperature and heat capacity with the entropy were plotted for different values of the state parameter related to the quintessence, $ω_{q}$, and the normalization constant related to the density of quintessence $c$. We show that when varying the entropy of the black hole a phase transition i…
To find what influence the charge of the black hole $Q$ will bring to the evolution of the quasinormal modes, we calculate the quasinormal frequencies of the neutrino field (charge $e=0$) perturbations and those of the massless Dirac field ($e\neq 0$) perturbations in the RN metric. The influences of $Q$, $e$, the momentum quantum number $l$, and the mode number $n$ are discussed. Among the conclusions, the most important one is that, at the stage of quasinormal ringing, the larger when the black hole and the field have the same kind of charge ($eQ>0$), the quasinormal modes of the massless ch…
We study the Quasinormal Modes (QNMs) of the Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a quintessence field after implementing the quantum corrections to its solution as required by the Generalised Uncertainty Principle (GUP). We analyse the dependence of the QNMs on the deformation parameters of GUP as well as on the quintessence parameter. In most cases the QNMs show the appreciable dependency on these parameters. For a better idea of the accuracy of calculations of QNMs, we compare the results of the QNMs obtained via Mashhoon method with the 6th order WKB method. A good agreement between thes…
We study the quasi-normal modes for scalar, electromagnetic, and gravitational axial perturbations in the Hayward regular black hole surrounded by quintessence (HBH-$ω_q$). Using the third--order WKB approximation we can determine the dependence of the quasi--normal modes on the parameters of the regular black hole and the parameters on the test fields. We also determine the greybody factor, giving transmission and reflection coefficients of the scattered wave through the effective potentials in the WKB approximation using numerical analysis.
The fundamental quasinormal resonances of charged Reissner-Nordström black holes due to charged scalar perturbations are derived {\it analytically}. In the WKB regime, $qQ\gg\hbar$, we obtain a simple expression for the fundamental quasinormal resonances: $ω=qQ/r_+-i2πT_{\text{BH}}(n+{1 \over 2})$, where $T_{\text{BH}}$ and $Q$ are the temperature and electric charge of the black hole and $q$ is the electric charge of the field. Remarkably, our results show that the relaxation dynamics of a perturbed Reissner-Nordström black hole may saturate the recently proposed universal relaxation bound.
Gravitational lensing in the weak field limit, quasinormal spectra, and gray-body factors are investigated in the Reissner-Nordström spacetime corrected by bounce parameters. Using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we analyze the effects of bounce corrections to the weak gravitational deflection angle and find that the divergence of the deflection angle can be suppressed by a bounce correction in the Reissner-Nordström spacetime. We also notice that the bounce correction plays the same role as the Morse potential in the deflection angle. Moreover, we derive the perturbation equations with the spin-dep…
The quasinormal modes of the Reissner-Nordström de Sitter black hole for the massless Dirac fields are studied using the Pöshl-Teller potential approximation. We find that the magnitude of the imaginary part of the quasinormal frequencies decreases as the cosmological constant or the orbital angular momentum increases, but it increases as the charge or the overtone number increases. An interesting feature is that the imaginary part is almost linearly related to the real part as the cosmological constant changes for fixed charge, and the linearity becomes better as the orbital angular momentum …
We study two fermionic systems that have an underlying supersymmetric structure, namely a color superconductor and Dirac fermion in a Reissner-Nordström-anti-de Sitter gravitational background. In the chiral limit of the color superconductor, the localized fermionic zero modes around the vortex form an N=2 with zero central charge $d=1$ quantum algebra, with all the operators being Fredholm. We compute the Witten index of this algebra and we find an unbroken supersymmetry. The fermionic gravitational system in the chiral limit too, has two underlying unbroken N=2, $d=1$ supersymmetric algebras…
The energy content of the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole surrounded by quintessence is investigated using approximate Lie symmetry methods. It is mainly done by assuming mass and charge of the black hole as small quantities ($ε$), and by retaining its second power in the perturbed geodesic equations for such black hole while neglecting its higher powers. Due to the presence of trivial second-order approximate Lie symmetries of these perturbed geodesic equations, a rescaling of the geodetic parameter gives a rescaling of the energy in this black hole. Interestingly we obtain an explicit relation…
The relation between the quasinormal modes (QNMs) and the second order thermodynamic phase transition (SOTPT) for the Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole is studied. It is shown that the quasinormal frequencies of the RN black hole start to get a spiral-like shape in the complex $ω$ plane and both the real and imaginary parts become the oscillatory functions of the charge if the real part of the quasinormal frequencies arrives at its maximum at the second order phase transition point of Davies for given overtone number and angular quantum number. That is to say, we can find out the SOTPT point …
We extend recent work of Hatsuda on the computation of quasinormal mode frequencies via analytic continuation of bound state energies and Borel-Pade resummation of the Bender-Wu perturbation series to the case of charged fields in the background of Reissner-Nordstrom black holes. We compare the quasinormal mode frequencies obtained in this manner to calculations using Leaver's method of continued fractions, and find good agreement for damped modes (DMs) with imaginary part remaining finite in the extremal limit. We also present numerical evidence that the frequencies of certain zero-damped mod…
We study scalar perturbations and quasinormal modes of a nonlinear magnetic charged black hole surrounded by quintessence. Time evolution of scalar perturbations is studied for different parameters associated with the black hole solution. We also study the reflection and transmission coefficients along with absorption cross-section for the considered black hole spacetime. It was shown that the real part of quasinormal frequency increases with increase in nonlinear magnetic charge while the module of the imaginary part of the frequency decreases. The analysis of the perturbations with changing …
The anomalous decay rate of the quasinormal modes occurs when the longest-lived modes are the ones with higher angular number. Such behaviour has been recently studied in different static spacetimes, for scalar and fermionic perturbations, being observed in both cases. In this work, we extend the existent studies to the charged spacetimes, namely, the Reissner-Nordström, the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter and the Reissner-Nordström-Anti-de Sitter black holes. We show that the anomalous decay rate behaviour of the scalar field perturbations is present for every charged geometry in the photon sphe…
