We explore the noncommutative effect on single field inflation and compare with WMAP five-year data. First, we calculate the noncommutative effect from the potential and dynamical terms, and construct the general form of modified power spectrum. Second, we consider the leading order modification of slow-roll, DBI and K-inflation and unite the modification, which means the modification is nearly model independent at this level. Finally, comparing with the WMAP5 data, we find that the modified can be well realized as the origin of the relative large spectral index and the quite small running.
The motivation for studying the rolling tachyon and non-commutative inflation comes from string theory. In the tachyon inflation scenario, metric perturbations are created by tachyon field fluctuations during inflation. We drive the exact mode equation for scalar perturbation of the metric and investigate the cosmological perturbations in the commutative and non-commutative inflationary spacetime driven by the tachyon field which have a Born-Infeld Lagrangian.
We study the cosmological implications of the space-space noncommutative inflation and present formulae for the spectral index and its running. Our results show that deviations from the spectral index and its running depend on the space-space noncommutativity length scale. We conclude that in the slow-roll regime of a typical inflationary scenario, space-space noncommutativity has negligible effects on both the spectral index and its running. Two classes of examples have been studied and comparisons made with the standard slow-roll formulae. The results show that the correction terms to the co…
A model independent analysis shows that the running of the spectral index of the three year WMAP results can be nicely realized in noncommutative inflation. We also re-examine some concrete noncommutative inflation models. We find that a large tensor-scalar ratio is required, corresponding to a low number of e-folds before the end of inflation in some simple models.
We study how the noncommutative spacetime affects on inflation. First we obtain the noncommutative power spectrum of the curvature perturbations produced during inflation in the slow-roll approximation. This is the explicit $k$-dependent power spectrum up to first order in slow-roll parameters $ε_1 δ_1$ including the noncommutative parameter $μ$. In order to test the role of $μ$ further, we calculate the noncommutative power spectrum using the slow-roll expansion. We find corrections which arise from the change of pivot scale and a noncommutative parameter with $μ\not=$ constant. It turns out …
We investigate how the uncertainty of noncommutative spacetime could explain the WMAP data. For this purpose, the spectrum is divided into the IR and UV region. We introduce a noncommutative parameter of $γ_0$ in the IR region and a noncommutative parameter of $μ_0$ in the UV region. We calculate cosmological parameters using the slow-roll expansion in the UV region and a perturbation method in the IR region. The power-law inflation is chosen to obtain explicit forms for the power spectrum, spectral index, and running spectral index. Further, these are used to fit the data.
The quantum behavior of noncommutative eternal inflation is quite different from the usual knowledge. Unlike the usual eternal inflation, the quantum fluctuation of noncommutative eternal inflation is suppressed by the Hubble parameter. Due to this, we need to reconsider many conceptions of eternal inflation. In this paper we study the Hawking-Moss tunneling in noncommutative eternal inflation using the stochastic approach. We obtain a brand-new form of the tunneling probability for this process and find that the Hawking-Moss tunneling is more unlikely to take place in the noncommutative case …
We investigate the condition for eternal inflation to take place in the noncommutative spacetime. We find that the possibility for eternal inflation's happening is greatly suppressed in this case. If eternal inflation cannot happen in the low energy region where the noncommutativity is very weak (the UV region), it will never happen during the whole inflationary history. Based on these conclusions, we argue that an initial condition for eternal inflation is available from the property of spacetime noncommutativity.
We investigate how the uncertainty of noncommutative spacetime affects on inflation. For this purpose, the noncommutative parameter $μ_0$ is taken to be a zeroth order slow-roll parameter. We calculate the noncommutative power spectrum up to second order using the slow-roll expansion. We find corrections arisen from a change of the pivot scale and the presence of a variable noncommutative parameter, when comparing with the commutative power spectrum. The power-law inflation is chosen to obtain explicit forms for the power spectrum, spectral index, and running spectral index. In cases of the po…
The first year results of WMAP tentatively indicate running of the spectral index as well as a deficit of power in the low multipoles in the CMB spectrum. The former can be rather easily understood in the noncommutative inflation model, and the latter, as we shall show in this paper, still appears to be an anomaly, even though the noncommutative inflation model already suppresses the low multipoles to a certain degree. By fitting the power spectrum, we determine the string scale to be $l_s\sim 4\times 10^{-29}$cm.
Noncommutative inflation is based upon the consideration of some effects of the space-time uncertainty principle motivated by ideas from string/M theory. The CMB anisotropies may carry a signature of this very early Universe correction from the space-time uncertainty principle and can be used to place constraints on the parameters of the noncommutative inflation model. In this paper we analyze the noncommutative chaotic inflation model by means of the WMAP three year results. We show that the noncommutative chaotic inflation model can produce a large negative running of spectral index within a…
The generation of large-scale magnetic fields is studied in dilaton electromagnetism in noncommutative inflationary cosmology taking into account the effects of the spacetime uncertainty principle motivated by string theory. We show that it is possible to generate large-scale magnetic fields with sufficient strength to account for the observed fields in galaxies and clusters of galaxies through only adiabatic compression without dynamo amplification mechanism in models of power-law inflation based on spacetime noncommutativity without introducing a huge hierarchy between the dilaton's potentia…
String/M theory inspires an uncertainty relation between space and time which deviates from general relativity. It is possible to explore this deviation from cosmological observations, in particular from the CMB fluctuation spectrum. This paper extends some previous observations to more general inflation schemes, we find that the noncommutative spacetime effects always suppress the power spectrum, of both the scalar and tensor perturbations, and may provide a large enough running of the spectral index to fit the WMAP data in the inflation model.
We briefly discuss some possible cosmological implications of noncommutative geometry. While the noncommutativity we consider does not affect gravity, it can play an important role in the dynamics of other fields that are present in the early universe. We point out the possibility that noncommutativity may cause inflation induced fluctuations to become non-gaussian and anisotropic, and may modify the short distance dispersion relations.

In this paper, we investigate the noncommutative KKLMMT D3/anti-D3 brane inflation scenario in detail. Incorporation of the brane inflation scenario and the noncommutative inflation scenario can nicely explain the large negative running of the spectral index as indicated by WMAP three-year data and can significantly release the fine-tuning for the parameter $β$. Using the WMAP three year results (blue-tilted spectral index with large negative running), we explore the parameter space and give the constraints and predictions for the inflationary parameters and cosmological observables in this sc…
Very recent CMB data of WMAP offers an opportunity to test inflation models, in particular, the running of spectral index is quite new and can be used to rule out some models. We show that an noncommutative spacetime inflation model gives a good explanation of these new results. In fitting the data, we also obtain a relationship between the noncommutative parameter (string scale) and the ending time of inflation.
We investigate early time inflationary scenarios in an Universe filled with a dilute noncommutative bosonic gas at high temperature. A noncommutative bosonic gas is a gas composed of bosonic scalar field with noncommutative field space on a commutative spacetime. Such noncommutative field theories was recently introduced as a generalization of quantum mechanics on a noncommutative spacetime. As key features of these theories are Lorentz invariance violation and CPT violation. In the present study we use a noncommutative bosonic field theory that besides the noncommutative parameter $θ$ shows u…
Three-year data of WMAP implies not only a negative running of the spectral index with large absolute value, but also a large positive running of running of the spectral index with order of the magnitude $10^{-2}$. We calculate the running of running in usual inflation model and noncommutative inflation model. A large tensor-scalar ratio $r\geq 1.23$ is needed in order to fit the WMAP data in the noncommutative inflation model, which roughly saturates the observational upper bound on it.
An elegant approach, which incorporates the effect of the stringy spacetime uncertainty relation, to calculate power spectra of fluctuations during inflation has been suggested by Brandenberger and Ho. In this approach, one of important features is the appearance of an upper bound on the comoving momentum $k$, at which the stringy spacetime uncertainty relation is saturated. As a result, the time-dependent upper bound leads us to choose naturally a set of initial vacua for each mode, in which the stringy uncertainty relation is saturated. In this note, with that set of vacua we calculate power…
We study constraints on a number of patch inflationary models in noncommutative spacetime using a compilation of recent high-precision observational data. In particular, the four-dimensional General Relativistic (GR) case, the Randall-Sundrum (RS) and Gauss-Bonnet (GB) braneworld scenarios are investigated by extending previous commutative analyses to the infrared limit of a maximally symmetric realization of the stringy uncertainty principle. The effect of spacetime noncommutativity modifies the standard consistency relation between the tensor spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio. We…
In this work we develop the patch formalism, an approach providing a very simple and compact description of braneworld-motivated cosmologies with nonstandard effective Friedmann equations. In particular, the Hubble parameter is assumed to depend on some power of the brane energy density, H^2 \propto ρ^q. The high-energy limit of Randall-Sundrum (q=2) and Gauss-Bonnet (q=2/3) braneworlds are considered, during an accelerating era triggered by a single ordinary or tachyonic scalar field. The inflationary dynamics, solutions, and spectra are provided. Using the latest results from WMAP and other …
We study implications of the curvaton, a late-decaying light scalar field, on inflationary cosmology, paying particular attentions to modifications of observable quantities such as the scalar spectral index of the primordial power spectrum and the tensor-to-scalar ratio. We consider this issue from a general viewpoint and discuss how the observable quantities are affected by the existence of the curvaton. It is shown that the modification owing to the curvaton depends on class of inflation models. We also study the effects of the curvaton on inflation models generated by the inflationary flow …
We investigate the possible effects on the evolution of perturbations in the inflationary epoch due to short distance physics. We introduce a suitable non local action for the inflaton field, suggested by Noncommutative Geometry, and obtained by adopting a generalized star product on a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background. In particular, we study how the presence of a length scale where spacetime becomes noncommutative affects the gaussianity and isotropy properties of fluctuations, and the corresponding effects on the Cosmic Microwave Background spectrum.
Supergravity corrections due to the energy density of a right-handed sneutrino can generate a negative mass squared for the inflaton, flattening the inflaton potential and reducing the spectral index and inflaton energy density. For the case of D-term hybrid inflation, we show that the spectral index can be lowered from the conventional value n = 0.98 to a value within the range allowed by the latest WMAP analysis, n = 0.951^{+0.015}_{-0.019}. The modified energy density is consistent with non-observation of cosmic strings in the CMB if n < 0.946. The WMAP lower bound on the spectral index imp…
We investigate the noncommutative effect on the non-Gaussianities of primordial cosmological perturbation. In the lowest order of string length and slow-roll parameter, we find that in the models with small speed of sound the noncommutative modifications could be observable if assuming a relatively low string scale. In particular, the dominant modification of non-Gaussianity estimator f_{NL} could reach O(1) in DBI inflation and K-inflation. The corrections are sensitive to the speed of sound and the choice of string length scale. Moreover the shapes of the corrected non-Gaussianities are dist…
We derive a general expression for the power spectra of scalar and tensor fluctuations generated during inflation given an arbitrary choice of boundary condition for the mode function at a short distance. We assume that the boundary condition is specified at a short-distance cutoff at a scale $M$ which is independent of time. Using a particular prescription for the boundary condition at momentum $p = M$, we find that the modulation to the power spectra of density and gravitational wave fluctuations is of order $(H/M)$, where $H$ is the Hubble parameter during inflation, and we argue that this …
Recent large scale structure observations, including COBE, have prompted many authors to discuss modifications of the standard Cold Dark Matter model. Two of these, a tilted spectrum and a gravitational wave contribution to COBE, are at some level demanded by theory under the usual assumption that inflation generates the primeval perturbations. The third, whose motivation comes by contrast from observation, is the introduction of a component of hot dark matter to give the Mixed Dark Matter model. We discuss the implication of taking these modifications together. Should Mixed Dark Matter prove …
In this work we investigate characteristic modifications of the spectrum of cosmological perturbations and the spectral index due to chain inflation. We find two types of effects. First, modifications of the spectral index depending on interactions between radiation and the vacuum, and on features of the effective vacuum potential of the underlying fundamental theory. Second, a modulation of the spectrum signalling new physics due to bubble nucleation. This effect is similar to those of transplanckian physics. Measurements of such signatures could provide a wealth of information on the fundame…
We show that in the framework of noncommutative classical electrodynamics Cherenkov radiation is permitted in vacuum and we explicitly compute its spectrum at first order in the noncommutative parameter. We discuss the phenomenological impact of the merge of this new analysis with the old results of the substantial modification to the spectrum of the synchrotron radiation obtained in P.Castorina, A.Iorio and D.Zappala, Phys. Rev. D 69 (2004)065008. We propose to consider the pulsars' radiation spectrum - due to its very strong magnetic field - to investigate these Lorentz violating effects in …
We calculate the spectrum of density fluctuations in models of inflation based on a weakly self-coupled scalar matter field minimally coupled to gravity, and specifically investigate the dependence of the predictions on modifications of the physics on length scales smaller than the Planck length. These modifications are encoded in terms of modified dispersion relations. Whereas for some classes of dispersion relations the predictions are unchanged compared to the usual ones which are based on a linear dispersion relation, for other classes important differences are obtained, involving tilted s…
