We examine the $(n+1)$-dimensional $(n\geq3)$ action in which gravity is coupled to the Born-Infeld nonlinear electrodynamic and a dilaton field. We construct a new $(n+1)$-dimensional analytic solution of this theory in the presence of Liouville-type dilaton potentials. These solutions which describe charged topological dilaton black holes with nonlinear electrodynamics, have unusual asymptotics. They are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. The event horizons of these black holes can be an $(n-1)$-dimensional positive, zero or negative constant curvature hypersurface. We also analyze thermodynamics and stability of these solutions and disclose the effect of the dilaton and Born-Infeld fields on the thermal stability in the canonical ensemble.
We propose the supersymmetric extension of the modified Born-Infeld-axion-dilaton non-linear electrodynamics that has confined static abelian solutions used for describing the electromagnetic confinement in the presence of axion and dilaton fields, and charged matter. The supersymmetric extension also has the non-trivial scalar potential that implies the upper bounds on the matter fields.
In the context of dilaton coupled Einstein gravity with a negative cosmological constant and a Born-Infeld field, we study heat engines where charged black hole is the working substance. Using the existence of a notion of thermodynamic mass and volume (which depend on the dilaton coupling), the mechanical work takes place via the pdV terms present in the first law of extended gravitational thermodynamics. Efficiency is analyzed as a function of dilaton and Born-Infeld couplings, and results are compared with analogous computations in the related conformal solutions in the Brans-Dicke Born-Infe…
We construct a new analytic solution of Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton theory in the presence of Liouville-type potentials for the dilaton field. These solutions describe dilaton black holes with nontrivial topology and nonlinear electrodynamics. Black hole horizons and cosmological horizons in these spacetimes, can be a two-dimensional positive, zero or negative constant curvature surface. The asymptotic behavior of these solutions are neither flat nor (A)dS. We calculate the conserved and thermodynamic quantities of these solutions and verify that these quantities satisfy the first law of blac…
A generalization of Born-Infeld non-linear vacuum electrodynamics involving axion and dilaton fields is constructed with couplings dictated by electromagnetic duality and SL(2,R) symmetries in the weak field limit. Besides the Newtonian gravitational constant the model contains a single fundamental coupling parameter b0. In the absence of axion and dilaton interactions it reduces, in the limit as b0 tends to infinity, to Maxwell's linear vacuum theory while for finite b0 it reduces to the original Born-Infeld model. The spherically symmetric static sector of the theory is explored in a backgro…
We construct a deformed adS-Einstein-Born-Infeld black hole from noncommutative gauge theory of gravity and determine the metric coefficients up to second order on the noncommutative parameter. We analyse the modifications on the thermodynamical properties of the black hole due to the noncommutative contributions, and we show that noncommutativity has as a direct consequence, the removal of critical points.
We have analyzed in detail the propagation of a minimally coupled massless scalar field in the gravitational background of a four-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld dilaton charged black hole. We have obtained analytical expressions for the absorption cross section as well as for the decay rate for the scalar field in the aforementioned spacetime, and we have shown graphically its behavior for different values of the free parameters of the theory.
We construct a new class of $(n+1)$-dimensional $(n\geq3)$ black hole solutions in Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity with Liouville-type potential for the dilaton field and investigate their properties. These solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. We find that these solutions can represent black holes, with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black hole or a naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. We compute the thermodynamic quantities of the black hole solutions and find that these quantities satisfy the first law of …
We explore the critical behavior of (n+1)-dimensional topological Born-Infeld-dilaton black holes in an extended phase space. We treat the cosmological constant and the Born-Infeld (BI) parameter as the thermodynamic pressure and BI vacuum polarization which can vary. We obtain thermodynamic quantities of the system such as pressure, temperature, Gibbs free energy, and investigate the behaviour of these quantities. We also study the analogy of the van der Waals liquid-gas system with the Born-Infeld-dilaton black holes in canonical ensemble in which we can treat the black hole charge as a fixe…
We construct some classes of electrically charged, static and spherically symmetric black hole solutions of the four-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity in the absence and presence of Liouville-type potential for the dilaton field and investigate their properties. These solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. We show that in the presence of the Liouville-type potential, there exist two classes of solutions. We also compute temperature, entropy, charge and mass of the black hole solutions, and find that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamic…
We investigate unattractor behavior in non-extremal black holes in Einstein-Born-Infeld-Dilaton theory of gravity in four-dimensional asymptotically flat spacetime. We obtain solutions which are non-singular near the horizon and dependent on the value of the dilaton field at the infinity, using perturbation method. It is shown that the value of the scalar field at the horizon is determined by its asymptotic value and the charges carried by the black hole. And we also find it is not true in general that the dilaton value at the horizon is a monotonically increasing function of the first coeffic…
We study quasi-normal modes for a higher dimensional black hole with Lifshitz scaling, as these quasi-normal modes can be used to test Lifshitz models with large extra dimensions. Furthermore, as the effective Planck scale is brought down in many models with large extra dimensions, we study these quasi-normal modes for a UV completion action. Thus, we analyze quasi-normal modes for higher dimensional dilaton-Lifshitz black hole solutions coupled to a non-linear Born-Infeld action. We will analyze the charged perturbations for such a black hole solution. We will first analyze the general condit…
In this paper, we construct a new class of charged, rotating solutions of $% (n+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity with Liouville-type potentials and investigate their properties. These solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. We find that these solutions can represent black brane, with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black brane or a naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. We also compute temperature, entropy, charge, electric potential, mass and angular momentum of the black brane solutions, and show …
We derive exact magnetically charged, static and spherically symmetric black hole solutions of the four-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity. These solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. The properties of the solutions are discussed. It is shown that the black holes are stable against linear radial perturbations.
In this paper, we first study the Lifshitz-dilaton holographic superconductors with nonlinear Born-Infeld (BI) gauge field and obtain the critical temperature of the system for different values of Lifshitz dynamical exponent, $z$, and nonlinear parameter $b$. We find that for fixed value of $b$, the critical temperature decreases with increasing $z$. This indicates that the increase of anisotropy between space and time prevents the phase transition. Also, for fixed value of $z$, the critical temperature decrease with increasing $b$. Then, we investigate the optical properties of ($2+1$) and ($…
We study the dynamics of domain walls in Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton theory. Dilaton is non-trivially coupled with the Born-Infeld electromagnetic field. We find three different types of solutions consistent with the dynamic domain walls. For every case, the solutions have singularity. Further more, in these backgrounds, we study the dynamics of domain walls. We qualitatively plot various form of the bulk metrics and the potential encountered by the domain walls. In many cases, depending upon the value of the parameters, the domain walls show bouncing universe and also undergo inflationary ph…
A class of spinning magnetic string in 4-dimensional Einstein-dilaton gravity with Liouville type potential which produces a longitudinal nonlinear electromagnetic field is presented. These solutions have no curvature singularity and no horizon, but have a conic geometry. In these spacetimes, when the rotation parameter does not vanish, there exists an electric field, and therefore the spinning string has a net electric charge which is proportional to the rotation parameter. Although the asymptotic behavior of these solutions are neither flat nor (A)dS, we calculate the conserved quantities of…
We study the stability under scalar perturbations, and we compute the quasinormal modes of the Einstein-Born-Infeld dilaton spacetime in 1+3 dimensions. Solving the full radial equation in terms of hypergeometric functions, we provide an exact analytical expression for the spectrum. We find that the frequencies are purely imaginary, and we confirm our results by computing them numerically. Although the scalar field that perturbs the black hole is electrically neutral, an instability similar to that seen in charged scalar perturbations of the Reissner-Nordström black hole is observed.
We reformulate the Born-Infeld action, coupled to an axion and a dilaton in a duality manifest way. This action is the generalization of the Schwarz-Sen action for non-linear electrodynamics. We show that this action may be obtained by dimensional reduction on a torus of a self-dual theory in 6 dimensions. The dilaton-axion being identified with the complex structure of the torus. Applications to M-theory and the self-dual IIB three brane are investigated.
We extend the analysis, initiated in arXiv:1901.01269, of the thermodynamic stability of four-dimensional asymptotically flat hairy black holes by considering a general class of exact solutions in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with a non-trivial dilaton potential. We find that, regardless of the values of the parameters of the theory, there always exists a sub-class of hairy black holes that are thermodynamically stable and have the extremal limit well defined. This generic feature that makes the equilibrium configurations locally stable should be related to the properties of the dilaton pot…
We numerically construct static and spherically symmetric electrically charged black hole solutions in Einstein-Born-Infeld gravity with massive dilaton. The numerical solutions show that the dilaton potential allows many more black hole causal structures than the massless dilaton. We find that depending on the black hole mass and charge and the dilaton mass the black holes can have either one, two, or three horizons. The extremal solutions are also found out. As an interesting peculiarity we note that there are extremal black holes with an inner horizon and with triply degenerated horizon.
We explore a novel reentrant phase transition of four-dimensional Born-Infeld-dilaton black hole in which the first order phase transition modify into a zeroth order phase transition below the critical point. Working in the extended phase space with regarding the cosmological constant as a pressure, we study the reentrant behavior of phase transition in the canonical ensemble. We show that these black holes enjoy a zeroth order intermediate-small black hole phase transition as well as a first order phase transition between small and large black holes for a narrow range of temperatures and pres…
Static spherically symmetric asymptotically flat solutions to the U(1) Born-Infeld theory coupled to gravity and to a dilaton are investigated. The dilaton enters in such a way that the theory is $SL(2,R)$- symmetric for a unit value of the dilaton coupling constant. We find globally regular solutions for any value of the effective coupling which is the ratio of the gravitational and dilaton couplings; they form a continuous sequence labeled by the sole free parameter of the local solution near the origin. The allowed values of this parameter are bounded from below, and, as the limiting value …
We discuss the horizon structure for Born-Infeld black holes, in the context of Einstein-Born-Infeld gravity. We show that the entropy function formalism agrees with a direct calculation of the entropy. With the entropy function formalism we also obtain the entropy when an axion-dilaton system as well as gravitational derivative corrections are included.
The non-abelian Einstein-Born-Infeld-Dilaton theory, which rules the dynamics of tensor-scalar gravitation coupled to a $su(2)$-valued gauge field ruled by Born-Infeld lagrangian, is studied in a cosmological framework. The microscopic energy exchange between the gauge field and the dilaton which results from a non-universality of the coupling to gravity modifies the usual behaviour of tensor-scalar theories coupled to matter fluids. General cosmological evolutions are derived for different couplings to gravitation and a comparison to universal coupling is highlighted. Evidences of cosmic acce…
Relations between photon orbits and thermodynamical phase transitions are explored in Born-Infeld-dilaton-AdS black hole. The coupling between the electromagnetic field and the dialton field is chosen such that the full phase diagram contains zeroth-order and first-order phase transitions as well as RPT. We find that there exist non-monotonic beahviors of the photon orbit radius $r_{ps}$ and the minimum impact parameter $u_{ps}$ which signal the existence of the various phase transitions. In particular, the marginal value of pressure under which RPT occur can be read off from these behaviors. …
We construct static and spherically symmetric particle-like and black hole solutions with magnetic or electric charge in the Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton system, which is a generalization of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) system and of the Einstein-Born-Infeld (EBI) system. They have remarkable properties which are not seen for the corresponding solutions in the EBI and the EMD system.
We analyze noncommutative deformations of a higher dimensional anti-de Sitter-Einstein-Born-Infeld black hole. Two models based on noncommutative inspired distributions of mass and charge are discussed and their thermodynamical properties are calculated. In the (3+1)-dimensional case, the equation of state and the Gibbs energy function of each model are found.
We investigate the properties of non-linear electromagnetism based on the Born-Infeld Lagrangian in multi-dimensional theories of Kaluza-Klein type. We consider flat space-time solutions only, which means that the space-time metric is constant, and the only supplementary variable is the dilaton field, a scalar. We show that in the case of Kaluza-Klein theory, the Born-Infeld Lagrangian describes an interesting interaction between the electromagnetic and scalar fields, whose propagation properties are modified in a non-trivial manner.
We study the thermodynamical and geometrical behaviour of the black holes that arise as solutions of the heterotic string action. We discuss the near-horizon scaling behaviour of the solutions that are described by two-dimensional Anti-de Sitter Space AdS(2). We find that finite-energy excitations of AdS(2) are suppressed only for scaling limits characterised by a dilaton which is constant near the horizon, whereas this suppression does not occur when the dilaton is non constant.
We present a detailed analysis of the thermodynamics of exact asymptotically flat hairy black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We compute the regularized action, quasilocal stress tensor, and conserved charges by using a `counterterm method' similar to the one extensively used in the AdS-CFT duality. In the presence of a non-trivial dilaton potential that vanishes at the boundary we prove that, for some range of parameters, there exist thermodynamically stable black holes in the grand canonical and canonical ensembles. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a therm…
In this paper, we first obtain the ($n+1$)-dimensional dilaton-Lifshitz black hole (BH) solutions in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics. We find that there are two different solutions for $z=n+1$ and $z\neq n+1$ cases ($z$ is dynamical critical exponent). We show that the thermodynamics first law is satisfied for both cases. Then, we turn to study different phase transitions (PTs) for our BHs. We start with study of Hawking-Page PT for both linearly and BI charged BHs. After that, we discuss the PTs inside the BHs. We present the improved Davies quantities and prove that the PT p…
We investigate the attractor mechanism for spherically symmetric extremal black holes in Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton theory of gravity in four-dimensions, in the presence of a cosmological constant. We look for solutions analytic near the horizon by using perturbation method. It is shown that the values of the scalar fields at the horizon are only dependent on the charges carried by the black hole and are irrelevant in their asymptotic values. This analysis supports the validity of non-supersymmetric attractors in the presence of higher derivative interactions in the gauge fields part and in …
We investigate the spacetime properties of BTZ black holes in the presence of the Maxwell field and Born-Infeld field and find rich properties in the spacetime structures when the model parameters are varied. Employing the Landau-Lifshitz theory, we examine the thermodynamical phase transition in the charged BTZ black holes. We further study the dynamical perturbation in the background of the charged BTZ black holes and find different properties in the dynamics when the thermodynamical phase transition occurs.
Using the geometrical thermodynamic approach, we study phase transition of Brans--Dicke Born--Infeld black holes. We apply introduced methods and describe their shortcomings. We also use the recently proposed new method and compare its results with those of canonical ensemble. By considering the new method, we find that its Ricci scalar diverges in the places of phase transition and bound points. We also show that the bound point can be distinguished from the phase transition points through the sign of thermodynamical Ricci scalar around its divergencies.
By explicit evaluation of certain disk S-matrix elements in the presence of background B-flux, we find coupling of two open string tachyons to gauge field, graviton, dilaton or Kalb-Ramond antisymmetric tensor on the world-volume of a single non-BPS D$p$-brane. We then propose an extension of the abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld action which naturally reproduces these couplings in field theory. This action includes non-linearly the dynamics of the tachyon field much like the other bosonic modes of the non-BPS D$p$-brane. On the general grounds of gauge and T-duality transformations and the symmetrize…
We consider Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with the non-minimal exponential coupling between the dilaton and the Maxwell field emerging from low energy heterotic string theory. The dilaton is endowed with a potential that originates from an electromagnetic Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) term in $\mathcal{N}=2$ extended supergravity in four spacetime dimensions. For the case we are interested in, this potential introduces a single parameter $α$. When $α\rightarrow 0$, the static black holes (BHs) of the model are the Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger (GMGHS) solutions. When $α\rightarrow \in…
In this paper, we study massive gravity in the presence of Born-Infeld nonlinear electrodynamics. First, we obtain metric function related to this gravity and investigate the geometry of the solutions and find that there is an essential singularity at the origin ($r=0$). It will be shown that due to contribution of the massive part, the number, types and places of horizons may be changed. Next, we calculate the conserved and thermodynamic quantities and check the validation of the first law of thermodynamics. We also investigate thermal stability of these black holes in context of canonical en…
We study static (electrically)-charged solutions of Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) theory of gravity in general $D$-dimensional spacetime. We consider both linear (Maxwell) as well as nonlinear electrodynamics for the matter fields. In this particular work, the nonlinear theory we specifically consider is the Born-Infeld electrodynamics. The solutions describe higher-dimensional black holes in EiBI gravity. For the linear Maxwell field, we show that the electric field is still singular for $D>4$. This singularity is cured when EiBI is coupled to the BI electrodynamics. We obtain EiBI-BI…
We discuss the low-energy effective string theory when moduli of the compactified manifold are present. Assuming a nontrivial coupling of the moduli to the Maxwell tensor, we find a class of regular black hole solutions. Both the thermodynamical and the geometrical structure of these solutions are discussed
We construct static and spherically symmetric particle-like and black hole solutions with magnetic and/or electric charge in the Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton-axion system, which is a generalization of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion (EMDA) system and of the Einstein-Born-Infeld (EBI) system. They have remarkable properties which are not seen for the corresponding solutions in the EMDA and the EBI system.
Standard methods of nonlinear dynamics are used to investigate the stability of particles, branes and D-branes of abelian Born-Infeld theory. In particular the equation of small fluctuations about the D-brane is derived and converted into a modified Mathieu equation and - complementing earlier low-energy investigations in the case of the dilaton-axion system - studied in the high-energy domain. Explicit expressions are derived for the S-matrix and absorption and reflection amplitudes of the scalar fluctuation in the presence of the D-brane. The results confirm physical expectations and numeric…
We study some exact solutions in a $D(\ge4)$-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld theory with a cosmological constant. These solutions are asymptotically de Sitter or anti-de Sitter, depending on the sign of the cosmological constant. Black hole horizon and cosmological horizon in these spacetimes can be a positive, zero or negative constant curvature hypersurface. We discuss the thermodynamics associated with black hole horizon and cosmological horizon. In particular we find that for the Born-Infeld black holes with Ricci flat or hyperbolic horizon in AdS space, they are always thermodynamically …
We investigate two-dimensional dilaton gravity models with a power-law dilaton potential, whose black hole solutions contain, among others, the dimensional reduction of the Schwarzschild black hole, the Anti-de Sitter black hole and Rindler spacetime. We show that the ground state of these models satisfies simple transformation laws under the SL(2,R) conformal group. We use these transformation laws to explain the scaling behavior of the thermodynamical parameters of the black hole and the nonextensivity of the thermodynamical system. The black hole thermodynamical behavior, in particular its …
In this paper, we consider a linearly charged dilatonic black holes and study their thermodynamical behavior in the context of phase transition and thermodynamic geometry. We show that, depending on the values of the parameters, these type of black holes may enjoy two types of phase transition. We also find that there are three critical behaviors near the critical points for these black holes; nonphysical unstable to physical stable, large to small, and small to large black holes phase transition. Next, we employ a thermodynamical metric for studying thermodynamical geometry of these black hol…
We consider two-dimensional dilaton-gravity theories with a generic exponential potential for the dilaton, and obtain the most general black hole solutions in the Schwarzshild form. We discuss their geometrical and thermodynamical properties. We also study these models from the point of view of gauge theories of the extended Poincaré group and show that they can be considered as gauge theories with broken symmetry. Finally, we examine the theory in a hamiltonian formalism and discuss its quantization and its symmetries.
Taking advantage of the representation of dilatonic gravity with the $R^2$-term under the form of low-derivative dilatonic gravity coupled to an additional scalar, we construct a general renormalizable model motivated by this theory. Exact black hole solutions are found for some special versions of the model, and their thermodynamical properties are described in detail. In particular, their horizons and temperatures are calculated. Finally, the corresponding one-loop effective action is obtained in the conformal gauge, and a number of its properties -including the construction of one-loop fini…
We study the thermodynamics and the small fluctuations of a linear dilaton black hole, in an S-dual version of the near-horizon limit of type IIB NS5 branes. The thermodynamical analysis shows that the black hole is in a Hagedorn phase, with marginal stability. The dynamical analysis confirms that the speed of sound of the dual theory vanishes and that there are no evident instabilities at the level of supergravity. We clarify the physical meaning of some singularities of the retarded correlator that were thought to lead to instabilities.
We write the recently conjectured action for transformation of the ordinary Born-Infeld action under the Seiberg-Witten map with one open Wilson contour in a manifestly non-commutative gauge invariant form. This action contains the non-constant closed string fields, higher order derivatives of the non-commutative gauge fields through the $*_N$-product, and a Wilson operator. We extend this non-commutative $D_9$-brane action to the action for $D_p$-brane by transforming it under T-duality. Using this non-commutative $D_p$-brane action we then evaluate the linear couplings of the graviton and di…
The cosmological constant is treated as a thermodynamical parameter in the framework of two-dimensional dilaton gravity. We find that the cosmological constant behaves as a U(1) charge with a confining potential, and that such potentials require a novel Born-Infeld boundary term in the action. The free energy and other thermodynamical quantities of interest are derived, from first principles, in a way that is essentially model-independent. We discover that there is always a Schottky anomaly in the specific heat and explain its physical origin. Finally, we apply these results to specific exampl…
In the Einestein-dilaton theory with a Liouville potential parameterized by $η$, we find a Schwarzschild-type black hole solution. This black hole solution, whose asymptotic geometry is described by the warped metric, is thermodynamically stable only for $0 \le η< 2$. Applying the gauge/gravity duality, we find that the dual gauge theory represents a non-conformal thermal system with the equation of state depending on $η$. After turning on the bulk vector fluctuations with and without a dilaton coupling, we calculate the charge diffusion constant, which indicates that the life time of the quas…
We investigate the critical behavior of an $(n+1)$-dimensional topological dilaton black holes, in an extended phase space in both canonical and grand-canonical ensembles, when the gauge field is in the form of power-Maxwell field. In order to do this we introduce for the first time the counterterms that remove the divergences of the action in dilaton gravity for the solutions with curved boundary. Using the counterterm method, we calculate the conserved quantities and the action and therefore Gibbs free energy in both the canonical and grand-canonical ensembles. We treat the cosmological cons…
We formulate a supersymmetric theory in which both a dilaton and a second-rank tensor play roles of compensators. The basic off-shell multiplets are a linear multiplet (B_{μν}, χ, ϕ) and a vector multiplet (A_μ, ł; C_{μνρ}), where ϕand B_{\m\n} are respectively a dilaton and a second-rank tensor. The third-rank tensor C_{μνρ} in the vector multiplet is 'dual' to the conventional D-field with 0 on-shell or 1 off-shell degree of freedom. The dilaton ϕis absorbed into one longitudinal component of A_μ, making it massive. Initially, B_{μν} has 1 on-shell or 3 off-shell degrees of freedom, but it i…
The theory of nonlinear electrodynamics has got a lot of attentions in recent years. It was shown that Born-Infeld nonlinear electrodynamics is not the only modification of the linear Maxwell's field which keeps the electric field of a charged point particle finite at the origin, and other type of nonlinear Lagrangian such as exponential and logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics can play the same role. In this paper, we generalize the study on the exponential nonlinear electrodynamics by adding a scalar dilaton field to the action. By suitably choosing the coupling of the matter field to the d…
We studied in detail the propagation of a massive tachyonic scalar field in the background of a five-dimensional ($5D$) Einstein--Yang--Mills--Born--Infeld--dilaton black string: the massive Klein--Gordon equation was solved, exactly. Next we obtained complete analytical expressions for the greybody factor, absorption cross-section, and decay-rate for the tachyonic scalar field in the geometry under consideration. The behaviors of the obtained results are graphically represented for different values of the theory's free parameters. We also discuss why tachyons should be used instead of ordinar…
Following earlier study regarding Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-massive black holes in the presence of Born-Infeld nonlinear electromagnetic field [S. H. Hendi, B. Eslam Panah and S. Panahiyan, arXiv:1510.00108], we study thermodynamical structure and critical behavior of these black holes through various methods in this paper. Geometrical thermodynamics is employed to give a picture regarding phase transition of these black holes. Next, a new method is used to derive critical pressure and horizon radius of these black holes. In addition, Maxwell equal area law is employed to study the Van der Waals l…
The most general Lagrangian for non-linear electrodynamics coupled to an axion $a$ and a dilaton $ϕ$ with $SL(2,\mbox{\elevenmsb R})$ invariant equations of motion is $$ -\half\left(\nablaϕ\right)^2 - \half e^{2ϕ}\left(\nabla a\right)^2 + \fraction{1}{4}aF_{μν}\star F^{μν} + L_{\rm inv}(g_{μν},e^{-\frac{1}{2}ϕ}F_{ρσ}) $$ where $L_{\rm inv}(g_{μν},F_{ρσ})$ is a Lagrangian whose equations of motion are invariant under electric-magnetic duality rotations. In particular there is a unique generalization of Born-Infeld theory admitting $SL(2,\mbox{\elevenmsb R})$ invariant equations of motion.
We construct analytical Lifshitz massive black brane solutions in massive Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity theory. We also study the thermodynamics of these black brane solutions and obtain the thermodynamical stability conditions. On the dual nonrelativistic boundary field theory with Lifshitz symmetry, we analytically compute the DC transport coefficients, including the electric conductivity, thermoelectric conductivity, and thermal conductivity. The novel property of our model is that the massive term supports the Lifshitz black brane solutions with $z\neq 1$ in such a way that the DC trans…
