We define a CP-asymmetric observable that is sensitive to CP-violating interactions in the gauge-boson sector. We illustrate the utility of this observable by studying how well the LHC can measure the coefficient of a particular dimension-six WWZ operator. We find that sensitivity at the 10^{-3} level is possible at the LHC with 100 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity, which would greatly exceed the sensitivity achieved at LEP, and would rival or may even better the indirect sensitivities inferred from related operators constrained by electric dipole moment experiments.
This review covers results of searches for new elementary particles that decay into boson pairs (dibosons), performed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at 7-, 8-, and 13-TeV center-of-mass energy until the year 2017. The available experimental results of the analysis of final states including most of the possible two-object combinations of W and Z bosons, photons, Higgs bosons, and gluons place stringent constraints on a variety of theoretical ideas that extend the standard model, pushing into the multi-TeV region the s…
LEP precision on electroweak measurements was sufficient not to hamper the extraction of Higgs couplings at the LHC. But the foreseen permille-level Higgs measurements at future lepton colliders might suffer from parametric electroweak uncertainties in the absence of a dedicated electroweak program. We perform a joint, complete and consistent effective-field-theory analysis of Higgs and electroweak processes. The full electroweak-sector dependence of the $e^+e^- \to WW$ production process is notably accounted for, using statistically optimal observables. Up-to-date HL-LHC projections are combi…
We discuss the measurements of the anomalous triple gauge couplings at Large Hadron Collider focusing on the contribution of the ${\cal O}_{3W}$ and ${\cal O}_{3\tilde W}$ operators. These deviations were known to be particularly hard to measure due to their suppressed interference with the SM amplitudes in the inclusive processes, leading to approximate flat directions in the space of these Wilson coefficients. We present the prospects for the measurements of these interactions at HL-LHC and HE-LHC using exclusive variables sensitive to the interference terms and taking carefully into account…
We show that only 10 (17) CP-odd operators of the SMEFT give the leading, i.e. least suppressed by the new physics scale, CP-violating contributions once we assume that all fermions are massless but the top (and bottom) quark(s). We start with a short review of previous analyses focusing on operators of our reduced basis and list different observables probing their CP violating effects by direct measurements at colliders and by indirect measurements in low-energy observables. Since CP-odd operators typically lead to phase space suppressed interferences, we quantify the efficiency to revive the…
We study the collider implication of a neutral resonance which decays to several diboson final states such as $W^+W^-$, $ZZ$, and $Zγ$ via a minimal set of effective operators. We consider both CP-even and CP-odd bosonic states with spin 0, 1, or 2. The production cross sections for the bosonic resonance states are obtained with the effective operators involving gluons (and quarks), and the branching fractions are obtained with the operators responsible for the interactions with electroweak gauge bosons. We demonstrate that each scenario allows for a broad parameter space which could accommoda…
Diphoton resonance was a crucial discovery mode for the 125 GeV SM Higgs boson at the LHC. This mode or the more general diboson modes may also play an important role in probing for new physics beyond the SM. In this paper, we consider the possibility that a diphoton resonance is due to a composite (pseudo)scalar boson, whose constituents are either new hyperquarks Q or scalar hyperquarks tilde{Q} confined by a new hypercolor force at a confinement scale Lambda_h. Assuming the mass m_Q (or m_{tilde Q}) >> Lambda_h, a diphoton resonance could be interpreted as either a Q bar{Q} state eta_Q with…
The ATLAS Collaboration has reported excesses in the search for resonant diboson production with decay modes to hadronic final states at a diboson invariant mass around 2 TeV in boosted jets from $WZ$, $W^+W^-$, and $ZZ$ channels. Given potential contamination, we investigate the anomalies in leptophobic $U(1)_{\rm LP}$ models. We show that leptophobic models can be constructed in flipped $SU(5)\times U(1)_X$ models from free fermionic string constructions and Pati-Salam models from D-brane constructions. Additionally, we perform a collider phenomenological analysis to study production cross s…
The study of electroweak boson pair production provides a powerful test of the spontaneously broken gauge symmetry of the Standard Model (SM) and can be used to search for new phenomena beyond the SM. Extra neutral vector bosons $Z'$ decaying to charged gauge vector boson pairs $W^+W^-$ are predicted in many scenarios of new physics, including models with an extended gauge sector. The diboson production allows to place stringent constraints on the $Z$-$Z'$ mixing factor $ξ$ and $Z'$ mass, $M_{Z'}$. We present the $Z'$ exclusion region in the $ξ-M_{Z'}$ plane for the first time by using data co…
Motivated by ATLAS diboson excess around 2 TeV, we investigate a phenomenology of spin-1 resonances in a model where electroweak sector in the SM is weakly coupled to strong dynamics. The spin-1 resonances, W' and Z', are introduced as effective degrees of freedom of the dynamical sector. We explore several theoretical constraints by investigating the scalar potential of the model as well as the current bounds from the LHC and precision measurements. It is found that the main decay modes are V' -> VV and V' -> Vh, and the V' width is narrow enough so that the ATLAS diboson excess can be explai…
We propose novel collider searches which can significantly improve the LHC reach to new gauge bosons $Z'$ with mixed anomalies with the electroweak (EW) gauge group. Such a $Z'$ necessarily acquires a Chern-Simons coupling to the EW gauge bosons and these couplings can drive both exotic $Z$ decays into $Z'γ$ if the new gauge boson is sufficiently light, as well as $Z'$ decays into EW gauge bosons. While the exotic decay rate of the heavy $Z$ into $Z'γ$ is too small to be observed at the LHC, for a light $Z'$, we show the potential of a lepton jet search in association with a photon to probe the…
Precise measurements of weak vector bosons self couplings give a hint on the electroweak symmetry breaking sector. We first stress that present data from LEP and TEVATRON clearly indicate that weak bosons are self interacting. We then review the limits on the trilinear and quadrilinear couplings expected at LEP2, $e^+e^-$ linear colliders and LHC.
In this paper we investigate the projected sensitivity to effective dark matter (DM) - diboson interaction during the high luminosity $Z$-pole and 240 GeV runs at the proposed Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). The proposed runs at the 91.2 GeV $e^+e^-$ center of mass energy offers an interesting opportunity to probe effective dark matter couplings to the $Z$ boson, which can be less stringently tested in non-collider searches. We investigate the prospective sensitivity for dimension 6 and dimension 7 effective diboson operators to scalar and fermion dark matter. These diboson operato…
We illustrate the potential of a very high energy lepton collider (from 10 to 30 TeV center of mass energy) to explore new physics indirectly in the vector boson fusion double Higgs production process and in direct diboson production at high energy. Double Higgs production is found to be sensitive to the anomalous Higgs trilinear coupling at the percent level, and to the Higgs compositeness $ξ$ parameter at the per mille or sub-per mille level thanks to the measurement of the cross-section in the di-Higgs high invariant mass tail. High energy diboson (and tri-boson) production is sensitive to …
We study $W^+W^-$ and $Zh$ final states at future linear $e^+e^-$ colliders; designing analyses specific to the various final state polarizations allows us to target specific beyond the Standard Model (BSM) effects, parametrized in the form of dimension-6 operators. We find that CLIC can access effects roughly an order of magnitude smaller than HL-LHC or ILC, and two orders of magnitude smaller than LEP. These results are interpreted in the context of well-motivated BSM scenarios---at weak and strong coupling---where we expect correlated effects in Drell-Yann processes. The latter turn out to …
Searches for new leptophobic resonances at high energy colliders usually target their decay modes into pairs of light quarks, top quarks, or standard model bosons. Additional decay modes may also be present, producing signatures to which current searches are not sensitive. We investigate the performance of generic searches that look for resonances decaying into two large-radius jets. As benchmark for our analysis we use a supersymmetric $\text{U}(1)'$ extension of the Standard Model, the so-called U$μν$SSM, where all the SM decay modes of the $Z'$ boson take place, plus additional (cascade) de…
We propose the boost asymmetry of the diboson productions in pp collisions as a new experimental observable, which can provide unique information on the proton structure. The boost asymmetry rises as the difference in the kinematics of the two bosons, that are coupled to the two different quark and antiquark initial states, respectively, and thus reflects different features of the quark and antiquark parton densities. By comparing the kinematics of the two bosons, such as the boson energy or rapidity, the diboson events with antiquark having higher energy than quark can be distinguished from t…
CP violation from physics beyond the Standard Model may reside in triple boson vertices of the electroweak theory. We review the effective theory description and discuss how CP violating contributions to these vertices might be discerned by electric dipole moments (EDM) or diboson production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Despite triple boson CP violating interactions entering EDMs only at the two-loop level, we find that EDM experiments are generally more powerful than the diboson processes. To give example to these general considerations we perform the comparison between EDMs and collid…
The Higgs Triplet Model (HTM) is one of important examples for extended Higgs sectors, because tiny neutrino masses can be simply explained. Unlike the canonical type-I seesaw model, a scale of new particles can be taken as $\mathcal{O}(100)$ GeV keeping an enough amount of production cross section for direct searches at collider experiments. In the HTM, there appear doubly-charged Higgs bosons $H^{\pm\pm}$, and detection of them is a key to probe the model. The decay property of $H^{\pm\pm}$ depends on the magnitude of the vacuum expectation value of the triplet field $v_Δ$. When $v_Δ$ is sma…
Doubly charged Higgs bosons are predicted in many new physics models with an extended Higgs sector that contains a Higgs triplet field. Current experimental searches have been focusing mainly on the scenario in which the same-sign dilepton decay modes are the dominant ones. We study the scenario where the vacuum expectation value of the triplet field is sufficiently large so that the associated charged Higgs bosons decay dominantly to a pair of weak gauge bosons instead. A detailed simulation of the signal and the backgrounds is performed for the CERN Large Hadron Collider at the collision ene…
We describe different possibilities to probe the BFKL dynamics at hadronic colliders, namely Mueller-Navelet jet, and jet gap jet events. We also discuss briefly the jet veto measurement as performed by the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC.
This document is prepared for the LCWS2016 conference proceedings. It reviews the current results on the Higgs CP property measurements from both ATLAS and CMS experiments in the Higgs to diboson decays, and in the Vector Boson Fusion production of Higgs via the ditau decay channel. The projected sensitivity of the ditau signal in HL-LHC is briefly discussed. Finally, it gives the prospects for the CP measurement in the Higgs to ditau decay with the tau substructure developments at both collaborations.
A promising avenue to perform precision tests of the SM at the LHC is to measure differential cross-sections at high invariant mass, exploiting in this way the growth with the energy of the corrections induced by heavy new physics. We classify the leading growing-with-energy effects in longitudinal diboson and in associated Higgs production processes, showing that they can be encapsulated in four real "high-energy primary" parameters. We assess the reach on these parameters at the LHC and at future hadronic colliders, focusing in particular on the fully leptonic $WZ$ channel that appears parti…
Potential of the LHeC for probing small x(g) region via c\bar{c} and b\bar{b} production have been investigated. Obtained results clearly show the advantage of gamma-p collider option. Measurement of x(g) down to 3\times10^{-6} seems to be reachable which is two order smaller than HERA coverage.
A feasibility study of a 500-GeV linear collider is presented for mSUGRA models in co-annihilation region. We find an active mask is critical to suppress $e^+ e^- \to e^+ e^- τ^+ τ^-$ events to probe the models.
We propose a novel idea for probing the Higgs boson couplings through the measurement of hadronic event shape distributions in the decay of the Higgs boson at lepton colliders. The method provides a unique test of the Higgs boson couplings and of QCD effects in the decay of the Higgs boson. It can be used to probe the Yukawa couplings of the light quarks and to further test the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. From a case study for the proposed Circular Electron-Positron Collider, assuming a hypothesis of SM-like theory, light-quark couplings with a strength greater than 9% of the b…
We present a parton-level study of electro-weak production of vector-boson pairs at the Large Hadron Collider, establishing the sensitivity to a set of dimension-six operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Different final states are statistically combined, and we discuss how the orthogonality and interdependence of different analyses must be considered to obtain the most stringent constraints. The main novelties of our study are the inclusion of SMEFT effects in non-resonant diagrams and in irreducible QCD backgrounds, and an exhaustive template analysis of optimal obse…
Several new physics scenarios, motivated e.g. by dark matter, feature new electroweakly charged states where the lightest particle in the multiplet is stable and neutral. In such cases direct searches at LHC are notoriously difficult, while electroweak precision tests both at hadron and lepton colliders offer the possibility to indirectly probe those states. In this work, we assess the sensitivity of the high-luminosity phase of the LHC on new electroweak multiplets via the modification of neutral and charged Drell-Yan processes, and compare the reach of future hadron and lepton colliders pres…
New light scalar particles in the mass range of hundreds of GeV, decaying into a pair of $W/Z$ bosons can appear in several extensions of the SM. The focus of collider studies for such a scalar is often on its direct production, where the scalar is typically only mildly boosted. The observed $W/Z$ are therefore well-separated, allowing analyses for the scalar resonance in a standard fashion as a low-mass diboson resonance. In this work we instead focus on the scenario where the direct production of the scalar is suppressed, and it is rather produced via the decay of a significantly heavier (a …
We explore the ability of current and future dark matter and collider experiments in probing anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We find that the latest PandaX-II/LUX-2016 data gives a strong constraint on parameter space that accommodates the $(g-2)_μ$ within $2σ$ range, which will be further excluded by the upcoming XENON-1T (2017) experiment. We also find that a 100 TeV $pp$ collider can cover most of our surviving samples that satisfy DM relic density within $3σ$ range through $Z$ or $h$ resonant effect by searching for…
We study the process $pp \to Z(\ell^+ \ell^-)h(b\bar b)$ in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) at high energies using subjet techniques to reconstruct the Higgs boson. We show that at high energies this process probes four directions in the dimension 6 EFT space, namely the operators that contribute to the four contact interactions, $hZ_μ\bar{f}γ^μf$, where $f=u_L, u_R,d_L$ and $d_R$. These four directions are, however, already constrained by the $Z$-pole and diboson measurements at LEP. We show that by utilising the energy growth of this process in the SMEFT and the accuracy th…
We propose a method to probe the coupling of the Higgs to strange quarks by tagging strange jets at future lepton colliders. For this purpose we describe a jet-flavor observable, $J_F$, that is correlated with the flavor of the quark associated with the hard part of the jet. Using this variable, we set up a strangeness tagger aimed at studying the decay $h\to s\bar{s}$. We determine the sensitivity of our method to the strange Yukawa coupling, and find it to be of the order of the standard-model expectation.
The description of the QCD dynamics in the kinematical range which will be probed in the future electron - hadron colliders is still an open question. Although phenomenological studies indicate that the gluon number fluctuations, which are related to discreteness in the QCD evolution, are negligible at HERA, the magnitude of these effects for the next generation of colliders still should be estimated. In this paper we investigate inclusive and diffractive $ep$ observables considering a model for the physical scattering amplitude which describes the HERA data. Moreover, we estimate, for the fir…

Possible anomalous top-quark couplings induced by SU(2) x U(1) gauge-invariant dimension-6 effective operators were studied in the process of t t-bar productions and decays at polarized gamma gamma colliders. Two CP-violating asymmetries, a linear-polarization asymmetry and a circular-polarization asymmetry, were computed including both non-standard [t t-bar gamma] and [gamma gamma H] couplings. An optimal-observable analysis for the process gamma gamma --> t t-bar --> l^{+-} ... was performed in order to estimate the precision for determination of all relevant non-standard couplings, includin…
Two-particle azimuthal angle correlations have been proposed to be one of the most direct and sensitive probes to access the underlying gluon dynamics involved in hard scatterings. In anticipation of an Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), detailed studies of dihadron correlation measurements in electron-proton and electron-ion collisions at an EIC have been performed. The impact of such measurements on the understanding of the different gluon distribution functions, as a clean signature for gluon saturation and to constrain saturation models further, has been explored. It is shown that dihadron corre…
We assess the sensitivity of the LHC, its high energy upgrade, and a prospective 100 TeV hadronic collider to the Dirac Yukawa coupling of the heavy neutrinos in left-right symmetric models (LRSMs). We focus specifically on the trilepton final state in regions of parameter space yielding prompt decays of the right-handed gauge bosons ($W_R$) and neutrinos ($N_R$). In the minimal LRSM, the Dirac Yukawa couplings are completely fixed in terms of the mass matrices for the heavy and light neutrinos. In this case, the trilepton signal provides a direct probe of the Dirac mass term for a fixed $W_R$…
We propose to utilize the polarization information of the $Z$ bosons in $ZZ$ production, via the gluon-gluon fusion process $gg\to ZZ$, to probe the $Zt\bar{t}$ gauge coupling. The contribution of longitudinally polarized $Z$ bosons is sensitive to the axial-vector component ($a_t$) of the $Zt\bar{t}$ coupling. We demonstrate that the angular distribution of the charged lepton from $Z$ boson decays serves well for measuring the polarization of $Z$ bosons and the determination of $a_t$. We show that $ZZ$ production via the $gg\to ZZ$ process complement to $Zt\bar{t}$ and $tZj$ productions in me…
We analyse the signal sensitivity of multi-lepton final states at collider that can arise from doubly and singly charged Higgs decay in a type-II seesaw framework. We assume triplet vev to be very small and degenerate masses for both the charged Higgs states. The leptonic branching ratio of doubly and singly charged Higgs states have a large dependency on the neutrino oscillation parameters, lightest neutrino mass scale, as well as neutrino mass hierarchy. We explore this as well as the relation between the leptonic branching ratios of the singly and doubly charged Higgs states in detail. We e…
The inclusion of heavy neutral leptons (right-handed neutrinos) to the Standard Model (SM) particle content is one of the best motivated ways to account for the observed neutrino masses and flavor mixing. The modification of the charged and neutral currents from active-sterile mixing of the neutral leptons can provide novel signatures which can be tested at the future collider experiments. In this article, we explore the discovery prospect of a very heavy right handed neutrino to probe such extensions at the future collider experiments like Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and liner colli…
We present a study to examine the sensitivity of a future $e^{-} e^{+}$ collider to the anomalous top flavour-changing neutral current (FCNC) to the gluon. To separate signal from background a multivariate analysis is performed on top-quark pair and background events, where one top quark is considered to follow the dominant Standard Model (SM) decay, $t \rightarrow Wb$, and the other top decays through FCNC, $t\rightarrow qg$, where $q$ is a $u-$ or a $c-$quark. The analysis of fully-hadronic FCNC decay of the $t \bar{t}$ pair is also presented. The $95\%$ confidence level limits on the top-qu…
We study angular observables in the $e^+e^-\to Z H\to \ell^+ \ell^-\,b\bar{b}$ channel at future circular $e^+ e^-$ colliders such as CEPC and FCC-ee. Taking into account the impact of realistic cut acceptance and detector effects, we forecast the precision of six angular asymmetries at CEPC (FCC-ee) with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} =$ 240 GeV and 5 (30) ${\rm ab}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We then determine the projected sensitivity to a range of operators relevant for the Higgs-strahlung process in the dimension-6 Higgs EFT. Our results show that angular observables provide complementa…
Triple gauge boson production at the LHC can be used to test the robustness of the Standard Model and provide useful information for VBF di-boson scattering measurement. Especially, any derivations from SM prediction will indicate possible new physics. In this paper we present a detailed Monte Carlo study on measuring WWW production in pure leptonic and semileptonic decays, and probing anomalous quartic gauge WWWW couplings at the CERN LHC and future hadron collider, with parton shower and detector simulation effects taken into account. Apart from cut-based method, multivariate boosted decisio…
We briefly review the studies on the top quark FCNC processes at a next-generation linear collider. Such processes, including various FCNC top quark rare decays and top-charm associated productions, are extremely suppressed in the standard model (SM) but could be significantly enhanced in some extensions. We compared the predictions from different typical new physics models: the SM, the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM), the general two-higgs-doublet model (2HDM) and the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model. Our conclusion is: (1) While all the new physics models can enhance the rates b…

We show that the longitudinal beam polarization option at a future electron-positron collider provides an unambiguous distinction between low-scale seesaw models of neutrino mass. This is possible due to the fact that the pair production cross section of the heavy neutrinos in seesaw models is sensitive to the polarization of the initial lepton beams, and for a suitable choice of the polarization, shows a clear enhancement over the unpolarized cross section. More interestingly, the choice of the beam polarization for which the enhancement is maximum is governed by the size of the light-heavy n…
In these proceedings I explore one aspect of gauge-boson physics at the LHC - Triple Gauge-boson Couplings (TGCs) in $WZ$ and Wgamma production. Methods for extracting confidence limits on anomalous TGCs are assessed, while accounting for the effects of higher order QCD corrections and contributions from other theoretical and detector related systematics. Detector response has been parametrised according to the ATLAS detector's specifications. A strategy for reporting the anomalous coupling limits is introduced which removes the ambiguities of form factors by reporting the limits as a function…
The LHCb measurements of the $μ/ e$ ratio in $B \to K \ell \ell$ decays $(R_{K^{}})$ indicate a deficit with respect to the Standard Model prediction, supporting earlier hints of lepton universality violation observed in the $R_{K^{(*)}}$ ratio. Possible explanations of these $B$-physics anomalies include heavy $Z'$ bosons or scalar and vector leptoquarks mediating $b \to s μ^+ μ^- $. We note that a muon collider can directly measure this process via $μ^+ μ^- \to b \bar s$ and can shed light on the lepton non-universality scenario. Investigating currently discussed center-of-mass energies $\sq…
We study single top production in association with a charged Higgs in the type II two Higgs doublet model at the Large Hadron Collider. The polarization of the top, reflected in the angular distributions of its decay products, can be a sensitive probe of new physics in its production. We present theoretically expected polarizations of the top for top charged-Higgs production, which is significantly different from that in the closely related process of t-W production in the Standard Model. We then show that an azimuthal symmetry, constructed from the decay lepton angular distribution in the lab…
