Simbol-X capability of detecting the non-thermal emission of stellar flares

We investigate the capability of detecting, with Simbol-X, non-thermal emission during stellar flares, and distinguishing it from hot thermal emission. We find that flare non-thermal emission is detectable when at least ~20 cts are detected with the CZT detector in the 20-80 keV band. Therefore Simbol-X will detect the non-thermal emission from some of the X-ray brightest nearby stars, whether the thermal vs. non-thermal relation, derived for solar flares, holds.

On the Simbol-X capability of detecting red/blue-shifted emission and absorption Fe K lines

The detection of red/blue-shifted iron lines in the spectra of astronomical X-ray sources is of great importance, as it allows to trace the environment around compact objects, like black holes in AGNs. Constraining global parameters of accreting black holes by modeling magnetic flares

We present modeling results for the reprocessed radiation expected from magnetic flares above AGN accretion disks. Relativistic corrections for the orbital motion of the flare and for the curved space-time in the vicinity of the black hole are taken into account. We investigate the local emission spectra, as seen in a frame co-orbiting with the disk, and the observed spectra at infinity. The EGRET instrument onboard of CGRO detected a number of gamma-ray flares from blazars, and it is expected that GLAST, to be launched in 2006, should detect many more such flares. Detecting Solar Neutrino Flare in Megaton and km^3 detectors

To foresee a solar flare neutrino signal we infer its upper and lower bound. The upper bound was derived since a few years by general energy equipartition arguments on observed solar particle flare. Detecting Solar Neutrino Flares and Flavors

Intense solar flares originated in sun spots produce high energy particles (protons, $α$) well observable by satellites and ground-based detectors. The flare onset produces signals in different energy bands (radio, X, gamma and neutrons). A giant flare on a t tauri star observed at millimeter wavelengths

We have conducted multi-epoch synthesis imaging of 2 and 3 millimeter (mm) continuum emission and near infrared K band 2.2 um imaging of a flare event in January 2003 that occurred on the young stellar object GMR-A which is suggested to be a weak-line T Tauri star in the Orion cluster. Our mm data showed that the flare activity lasted at least over 13 days, whereas the K-band magnitude did not change during this event.
