A reanalysis of the radiative pion decay together with the calculation of the radiative corrections within chiral perturbation theory (CHPT) is performed. The amplitude of this decay contains an inner Bremsstrahlung contribution and a structure-dependent part that are both accessible in experiments. In order to obtain a reliable estimate of the hadronic contributions we combine the CHPT result with a large-N_C expansion and experimental data on other decays, which makes it possible to determine the occurring coupling constants.
The radiative transitions from the neutral exotic $Z_c(4020)^0$ resonance to $X(3872)$ with emission of a photon and the pionic transitions from the charged $Z_c(4020)^\pm$ to $X(3872)$ and a charged pion $π^\pm$ are considered for both charmoniumlike states being charmed meson-antimeson molecules. The underlying processes for these transitions are the decays of the charmed vector meson to pseudoscalar plus a photon or a pion. It is found that the discussed transition rates typically amount to a branching fraction of several permil with a peak at the vector meson pair threshold.
We calculate the one-photon loop radiative corrections to the charged pion-pair production process $π^-γ\toπ^+π^-π^-$. In the low-energy region this reaction is governed by the chiral pion-pion interaction. The pertinent set of 42 irreducible photon-loop diagrams is calculated by using the package FeynCalc. Electromagnetic counterterms with two independent low-energy constants $\widehat k_1$ and $\widehat k_2$ are included in order to remove the ultraviolet divergences generated by the photon-loops. Infrared finiteness of the virtual radiative corrections is achieved by including soft photon r…
We calculate the one-photon loop radiative corrections to the neutral pion-pair photoproduction process $π^-γ\to π^-π^0π^0$. At leading order this reaction is governed by the chiral pion-pion interaction. Since the chiral $π^+π^-\toπ^0π^0$ contact-vertex depends only on the final-state invariant-mass it factors out of all photon-loop diagrams. We give analytical expressions for the multiplicative correction factor $R\sim α/2π$ arising from eight classes of contributing one-photon loop diagrams. An electromagnetic counterterm has to be included in order to cancel the ultraviolet divergences gen…
We study the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we analyze the momentum dependence of the vector form factor F_V(q^2), and the slope of the axial-vector form factor F_A(q^2) at threshold. Our results are compared with available experimental information and with the predictions given by the NJL model. In addition we calculate the low energy constants l_5 and l_6, comparing our results with the values obtained in chiral perturbation theory.
In framework of the chiral perturbation theory we obtain the phenomenological relations between decay branches of rare radiative kaon to pion and leptons $K^+ \to π^+ l^+ l^-$ and $K^0_S \to π^0 l^+ l^-$ and meson form factors. The comparison of these results with the present day experimental data shows us that the ChPT relations for a charge kaon can determine meson form factors from already measured decay rates at high precision level. However, in the case of the neutral kaon decays $K^0 \to π^0 e^+ e^- (μ^+ μ^-)$ the formfactor data are known to a high precision than data on the differentia…

We analyze the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we calculate the vector and axial-vector form factors FV and FA at q^2=0 --where q^2 is the (e+ ν_e) squared invariant mass-- and the slope a of FV(q^2) at q^2 -> 0. The calculations are carried out considering different nonlocal form factors, in particular those taken from lattice QCD evaluations, showing a reasonable agreement with the corresponding experimental data. The comparison of our results with those obtained in the (local) NJL mod…
In this article we rederive the Boost operators in Coulomb-Gauge Yang-Mills theory employing the path-integral formalism and write down the complete operators for QCD. We immediately apply them to note that what are usually called the pion square, quartic... charge radii, defined from derivatives of the pion form factor at zero squared momentum transfer, are completely blurred out by relativistic and interaction corrections, so that it is not clear at all how to interpret these quantities in terms of the pion charge distribution. The form factor therefore measures matrix elements of powers of …
In this letter, we address the question of whether the almost four standard deviations difference between theory and experiment for the muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ$ can be explained as a higher-order Standard Model perturbation effect in the pion form factor measurements. This question has, until now, remained open, obscuring the source of discrepancies between the measurements. We calculate the last radiative corrections for the extraction of the pion form factor, which were believed to be potentially substantial enough to explain the data within the Standard Model. We find that the c…
In this work, we perform a detailed study of the $τ^-\toπ^-π^0γν$ decay process within the resonance chiral theory. We pay special attention to the triple-product asymmetry in the $τ^-\toπ^-π^0γν$ process. The minimal resonance chiral Lagrangian and the odd-intrinsic parity resonance operators are simultaneously included to calculate the decay amplitudes. Various invariant-mass distributions in the $π^-π^0$, $π^-γ$ and $π^0γ$ systems are studied and they reveal different resonance dynamics. We further predict the intriguing nonzero triple-product asymmetry distributions, which may provide usef…
In this work, we investigate the decay widths and the line shapes of the open-charm radiative and pionic decays of Y(4274) with the $D_s\bar{D}_{s0}(2317)$ molecular charmonium assignment. Our calculation indicates that the decay widths of $Y(4274)\to D^{+}_{s}D^{*-}_{s}γ$ and $Y(4274)\to D^+_{s}D^-_{s}π^0$ can reach up to 0.05 keV and 0.75 keV, respectively. In addition, the result of the line shape of the photon spectrum of $Y(4274)\to D_s^+ {D}_s^{*-} γ$ shows that there exists a very sharp peak near the large end point of photon energy. The line shape of the pion spectrum of $Y(4274)\to D_…
The final state interaction of pions in the decay $K^\pm\to π^+π^-e^\pmν$ allows to obtain the value of the isospin and angular momentum zero pion-pion scattering length $a_0^0$. To extract this quantity from experimental data the radiative corrections (RC) have to be taken into account. Basing on the lowest order results and the factorization hypothesis, we get the expressions for RC in the leading and next-to leading logarithmical approximation. It is shown that the decay width dependence on the lepton mass $m_e$ through the parameter $σ=\fracα{2π}\br{\ln\frac{M^2}{m_e^2}-1}$ has a standard …
We suggest that the decay modes of kaons with a pion and a pionium ($π^+π^-$ atom) in the final state can constitute a not yet considered background to the very rare decay $K\toπν\barν$. In fact, a part of pioniums may escape the decay region before decaying into two $π^0$s (or to $π^0π^0γ$ in the case of excited pionium). To illustrate the importance of this background, we show that it may even explain, under some assumptions, the unexpected $K_L$ decay events that appeared in the KOTO experiment.
We present a calculation of radiative pion photoproduction in the framework of covariant chiral perturbation theory with explicit $Δ(1232)$ degrees of freedom. The analysis is performed employing the small scale expansion scheme adjusted for the $Δ$ region. Depending on the channel, we include contributions up to next-to-next-to-leading order. We fit the available experimental data for the reaction $ γp\toγpπ^0 $ and extract the value of the $Δ^+$ magnetic moment. Errors from the truncation of the small scale expansion are estimated using the Bayesian approach. We compare our results both with…
Ultraviolet completions for axion-like particles (ALPs) lighter than the neutral pion generically induce ALP-neutral pion mixing, and are therefore sensitive to direct constraints on the mixing angle. For ALPs below the pion mass, we demonstrate that strong and novel bounds on the ALP-pion mixing angle can be extracted from existing rare pion decay data, measured by the PIENU and PIBETA experiments.
Gauge invariance and finite width effects in radiative two-pion tau lepton decay
We compute the decay rate of dimuonium into a neutral pion and a photon. We find that approximately one in 10^5 ortho-dimuonia decays into this channel. We also determine the contribution of the virtual photon-pion loop to the hyperfine splitting in dimuonium and reproduce its leading effect in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.
We re-investigate the impact of isospin violation for extracting the s-wave pion pion scattering phase shift difference delta_0(M_K) - delta_2(M_K) from K -> pi pi decays. Compared to our previous analysis in 2003, more precise experimental data and improved knowledge of low-energy constants are used. In addition, we employ a more robust data-driven method to obtain the phase shift difference delta_0(M_K) - delta_2(M_K) = (52.5 \pm 0.8_{exp} \pm 2.8_{theor}) degrees.
The pion decay constant f_pi plays a crucial role in many areas of low energy particle physics. Its value may e.g. be deduced from experimental data on leptonic pion decays. Here, we provide comments on several aspects of this evaluation. In particular, we point out that at the present level of experimental accuracy, the value of f_pi is sensitive to the value of the pion mass chosen in its chiral expansion.
We find that, in the local V-A theory, the radiative corrections to pion beta-decay involving the weak vector current, when evaluated in the current algebra (CA) formulation in which quarks are the fundamental underlying fields, show a small difference with the more elementary calculations based directly on the pion fields. We show that this difference arises from a specific short-distance effect that depends on the algebra satisfied by the weak and electromagnetic currents. On the other hand, we present a simple theoretical argument that concludes that this difference does not occur when the …
