If neutral Higgs bosons will be discovered at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) then an important subsequent issue will be the investigation of their CP nature. Higgs boson decays into tau lepton pairs are particularly suited in this respect. Analyzing the three charged pion decay modes of the tau leptons and taking expected measurement uncertainties at the LHC into account, we show that the CP properties of a Higgs boson can be pinned down with appropriately chosen observables, provided that sufficiently large event numbers will eventually be available.
We summarized our report on leptonic flavor violating Higgs decay into mu + tau under the scheme of a generic supersymmetric standard model without R parity. With known experimental constraints imposed, important combinations of R-parity violating parameters which can give notable branching ratios are listed.
We analyze the CP violation in the semileptonic | ΔS|=1 tau-decays in supersymmetric extensions of the standard model (SM) with R parity violating term. We show that the CP asymmetry of tau-decay is enhanced significantly and the current experimental limits obtained by CLEO collaborations can be easily accommodated. We argue that observing CP violation in semi leptonic tau-decay would be a clear evidence for R-parity violating SUSY extension of the SM.
Lepton flavor violation in tau and mu processes is studied in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity. We consider various asymmetries defined in polarized tau and mu decays. Correlations among branching ratios and asymmetries are shown in the following lepton flavor violation processes: mu+ --> e+ gamma, mu+ --> e+ e+ e-, mu- A --> e- A (A = Al, Ti, Au and Pb), tau+ --> mu+ gamma, tau+ --> mu+ mu+ mu-, tau+ --> mu+ e+ e-, tau+ --> mu+ P (P = pi0, eta and eta'), tau+ --> mu+ V (V = rho0, omega and phi), tau+ --> e+ gamma, tau+ --> e+ e+ e-, tau+ --> e+ mu+ mu-, tau+ --> e+ P, tau+ --> e+ V, tau…
In this letter, we report on lepton flavor violating Higgs decay into mu+tau in the framework of the generic supersymmetric standard model without R parity and list interesting combinations of R-parity violating parameters. We impose other known experimental constraints on the parameters of the model and show our results from the R-parity violating parameters. In our analysis, the branching ratio of Higgs to mu+tau can exceed 10^{-5} within admissible parameter space.
We demonstrate that a measurement of the impact parameter in one-prong tau decay can be useful for the determination of the Higgs boson parity in the H/A --> tau tau; tau --> rho nu decay chain. We have estimated that for a detection set-up such as TESLA, use of the information from the tau impact parameter can improve the significance of the measurement of the parity of the Standard Model 120 GeV Higgs boson to 4.5 sigma, and in general by factor of about 1.5 with respect to the method where this information is not used. We also show that the variation in the assumption on the precision of th…
In the most general R-parity violating model, including both bilinear and trilinear terms, the sneutrino receives a vacuum expectation value. We investigate the constraints on this vev following a basis independent approach, highlighting the relations between the three most popular basis. We study the prediction for the tau neutrino mass which follows from the minimization of the scalar potential in a SUGRA model with universality of the soft parameters at the GUT scale. Finally we show that the tau neutrino mass controls the R-parity violating effects both in the fermionic and scalar sectors.
We put constraints on several products of R-parity violating lambda lambda' and lambda' lambda' type couplings from leptonic and semileptonic tau, B_d and B_s decays. Most of them are one to two orders of magnitude better than the existing bounds, and almost free from theoretical uncertainties. A significant improvement of these bounds can be made in high luminosity tau-charm or B factories.
The theoretically clean channel B+ -> tau+ nu shows a close to 3sigma discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and the data. This in turn puts a strong constraint on the parameter space of a two-Higgs doublet model, including R-parity conserving supersymmetry. The constraint is so strong that it almost smells of fine-tuning. We show how the parameter space opens up with the introduction of suitable R-parity violating interactions, and release the tension between data and theory.
In this talk, we investigate Lepton Flavor Violating (LFV) tau decay by R-Parity Violating (RPV) operators controlled by a non-Abelian discrete $Q_6$ family symmetry. We assume that only a family symmetry determines the whole flavor structure of a model, and the model indicates specific predictions of LFV tau decay processes by RPV operators. We predict $BR(τ\to 3e)/BR(τ\to 3 μ) \sim 4 m_μ^2/m_τ^2$ in a $Q_6$ family symmetric model.
We present a very promising method for a measurement of the Higgs boson parity using the H/A -> tau^+ tau^- --> rho^+ nu rho^- nu --> pi^+ pi^0 nu pi^- pi^0 nu decay chain. The method is both model independent and independent of the Higgs production mechanism. Angular distributions of the tau decay products which are sensitive to the Higgs boson parity are defined and are found to be measurable using typical properties of a future detector for an e^+ e^- linear collider. The prospects for the measurement of the parity of a Higgs boson with a mass of 120 GeV are quantified for the case of e^+ e…
We consider the sneutrino resonance reaction l^+ l^- -> sneutrino -> tau^+ tau^- in the MSSM without R-parity. We introduce new CP-violating and CP-conserving tau-spin asymmetries which are generated already at the tree-level if there is sneutrino - sneutrino-bar mixing and that are forbidden in the SM. It is remarkable that these spin asymmetries can reach ~75% around resonance for a sneutrino mass splitting of Δm ~ Γand ~10% for a splitting as low as Δm ~ 0.1Γ, where Γis the sneutrino width. We show that they are easily detectable already at LEP2 so long as the beam energy is within ~10 GeV …
Minimal R-parity violating supergravity predicts a value for $alpha_s(M_Z)$ smaller than in the case with conserved R-parity, and therefore closer to the experimental world average. We show that the R-parity violating effect on the $alpha_s$ prediction comes from the larger two-loop b-quark Yukawa contribution to the renormalization group evolution of the gauge couplings which characterizes R-parity violating supergravity. The effect is correlated to the tau neutrino mass and is sensitive to the initial conditions on the soft supersymmetry breaking parameters at the unification scale. We show …
In this paper we examine thoroughly the Higgs boson to mu tau decay via processes involving R parity violating couplings. By means of full one-loop diagrammatic calculations, we found that even if known experimental constraints, particularly including the stringent sub-eV neutrino mass bounds, give strong restrictions on some of the R parity violating parameters, the branching ratio could still achieve notable value in the admissible parameter space. Hence, the flavor violating leptonic decay is of interest to future experiments. We present here key results of our analysis. Based on the analys…
We first study the hadronic lepton flavor violating tau decays within the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (including one or two pseudoscalars, or a vector resonance). We consider the case where only T-odd particles and partner fermions contribute, and also its extension including Majorana neutrinos coming from an inverse seesaw. In both cases our mean values lie only one order of magnitude below current upper limits, strengthening the case of searching for these decays in the quest for new physics.
We investigate the implications of R-parity violating operators in a model with family symmetry. The family symmetry can determine the form of R-parity violating operators as well as the Yukawa matrices responsible for fermion masses and mixings. In this paper we consider a concrete model with non-abelian discrete symmetry Q_6 which contains only three R-parity violating operators. We find that ratios of decay rates of the lepton flavor violating processes are fixed thanks to the family symmetry, predicting BR(tau to 3e)/BR(tau to 3mu) ~ 4 m_{mu}^2/m_{tau}^2.
We constrain, from rare tau decays, several combinations of $λ$ and $λ'$ type couplings coming from Supersymmetry without R-parity. The processes that we consider are tau --> l M, tau --> l_i l_j l_k, and tau --> l gamma, where l stands for either e or mu, and M is the generic symbol for a meson. We update several existing bounds, and provide a few new ones too.
In this work radiative corrections in the total hadronic decay rate of the tau-lepton and some moments of its differential distributions are studied employing perturbative QCD and the operator product expansion. We calculate quadratic quark mass corrections in the strange mass to the decay rate ratio R_tau to the order O(α_s^3 m^2) and find that they contribute appreciably to the Cabibbo suppressed decay modes of the tau-lepton. Using the results of a recent experimental analysis, we obtain m_s(1 GeV) = 200 \pm 40_exp \pm 30_th MeV.
The measurement of the trilinear couplings A in the part of the Lagrangian which breaks supersymmetry softly will be a difficult experimental task. In this report the heavy Higgs decays H,A -> stau_1 stau_2 to stau pairs are investigated for measuring the stau trilinear coupling A_tau. Based on detailed simulations of signal and backgrounds for a specific reference point in future high luminosity e+e- linear collider experiments, it is concluded that the parameter $_tau can be determined with a precision at the 10% level in the region of moderate to large tan(beta).
We show how the transverse tau tau spin correlations can be used to measure the parity of the Higgs boson and hence to distinguish a CP-even H boson from CP-odd A in the future high energy accelerator experiments. We investigate the subsequent decays of the tau into pi nu and rho nu. The prospects for the measurement of the Higgs boson parity with a mass of 120 GeV are quantified for the case of e+ e- collisions of 500 GeV center of mass energy. The Standard Model Higgsstrahlung production process is used as an example.
The detectability at LEP 200 of explicit $R$-parity breaking by tau-number $(L_τ)$ violating operators is considered. The assumption of $L_τ$-violation is motivated by the relative lack of constraints on such couplings but similar considerations apply to explicit $L_e$- or $L_μ$-violation. The $LSP$, now unstable, and not necessarily neutral, decays via $L_τ$-violating modes. Only signals from the production and decays of $LSP$ pairs are considered, thereby avoiding any dependence on the sparticle mass spectrum. Rather spectacular signals are predicted: spherical events with $m$ leptons (usual…
In this talk, we investigate the implications of R-parity violating (RPV) operators in a model with family symmetry. Family symmetry can determine the form of RPV operators as well as the Yukawa matrices. We consider a concrete model with non-abelian discrete symmetry Q_6, which has only three RPV trilinear operators with no baryon number violating terms. We find that ratios of decay rates of the lepton flavor violating processes are fixed thanks to the family symmetry, predicting BR(tau to 3e)/BR(tau to 3mu) ~ 4 m_{mu}^2/m_{tau}^2.
Gluons inside an unpolarized proton are in general linearly polarized. This polarization can, in principle, be used to determine the spin and parity of the newly found Higgs-like boson at the LHC. We focus here on the calculation of the degree of polarization.
The hadronic tau decay $τ^- \to ν_τηπ^- π^0$ occurs through V-A weak current. In this decay mode, the vector current contribution is intrinsic parity violating and the axial current contribution is G parity violating. The latter contribution is suppressed due to tiny isospin breaking. We have computed both vector and axial vector form factors using a chiral Lagrangian with vector mesons including the effect of isospin breaking and intrinsic parity violation. A numerical result of the invariant mass distribution is shown and the structure of $ρ$ resonance can be seen in the distribution with re…
By using a constituent quark model we compute the form factors relevant to semileptonic transitions of B mesons into low-lying p-wave charmed mesons. We evaluate the q^2 dependence of these form factors and compare them with other model calculations. The Isgur-Wise functions tau(1/2) and tau(3/2) are also obtained in the heavy quark limit of our results.
We present a comprehensive update of the bounds on R-Parity violating supersymmetric couplings from lepton-flavour- and lepton-number-violating decay processes. We consider tau and mu decays as well as leptonic and semi-leptonic decays of mesons. We present several new bounds resulting from tau, eta and Kaon decays and correct some results in the literature concerning B-meson decays.
In this paper we investigate the one-loop radiative corrections to the neutrino indices of refraction from supersymmetric models. We consider the Next-to Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (NMSSM) which happens to be a better supersymmetric candidate than the MSSM for both theoretical and experimental reasons. We scan the relevant SUSY parameters and identify regions in the parameter space which yield interesting values for V_{mu tau}. If R-parity is broken there are significant differences between MSSM and NMSSM contributions contrary to the R-parity conserved case. Finall…
We investigate a method for determining the CP nature of a neutral Higgs boson or spin-zero resonance at a future linear e+e- collider (ILC) in its tau decay channel. Our procedure is applicable if the production vertex of the Higgs boson can be measured. This will be the case, for example, for the Higgs-strahlung process. We show that the method is feasible for both the leptonic and the hadronic 1-prong tau decay modes.
R parity violation can induce mixing of the supersymmetric Higgs bosons with the sneutrinos at the tree level. We study the effect of this mixing on the decays of Higgs scalars as well as sneutrinos in an effective model where the violation of R parity is included in the minimal supersymmetric model through bilinear lepton number violating superpotential terms. We show that a small violation of R parity can lead to a sizeable branching ratio for the supersymmetric Higgs boson decay mode $H \to χ\ell$ (where $χ$ denotes an electroweak gaugino and $\ell$ is either a tau neutrino or a tau lepton)…
We review some properties of Bilinear R-Parity Violating models: simple extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model motivated by spontaneous breaking of R-Parity. We concentrate on the relaxation of the bounds on the charged Higgs mass imposed by the measurement of B(b -> s gamma), the effect on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson, the radiative breaking of the electroweak symmetry, the unification of bottom and tau Yukawa couplings, and the relation of these phenomena to the radiatively generated tau-neutrino mass.
We discuss the phenomenology of the lightest stops in models where R-parity is broken by bilinear terms. In this class of models we consider scenarios where the R-parity breaking two-body decay stop_1 -> tau + b competes with the leading three-body decays stop_1 -> W^+ + b + neutralino_1, H^+ + b + neutralino_1, b slepton^+_i neutrino_l, b sneutrino_l l^+ (l=e, mu, tau). We demonstrate that the R-parity violating decay can be the dominant one. In particular we focus on the implications for a future electron posistion Linear Collider.
We consider the case where supersymmetry with broken R-parity is embedded in the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA). This alters the standard mSUGRA spectrum and opens a wide range in parameter space, where the scalar tau is the lightest supersymmetric particle, instead of the lightest neutralino. We study the resulting LHC phenomenology. Promising signatures would be detached vertices from long-lived staus, multi lepton final states and multi-tau final states. We investigate in detail the corresponding cross sections and decay rates in characteristic benchmark scenarios.
Lepton-flavor-violating decays of the type L->l gamma gamma (mu->e gamma gamma, tau->e gamma gamma, and tau->mu gamma gamma) are proposed as new probes of R-parity-violating supersymmetry. Non-penguin diagrams with a sneutrino that decays into two photons via a triangle graph might trigger such decays even in the absence of the corresponding radiative decays into one photon only, e.g. mu->e gamma. Thus, processes of the type L->l gamma gamma may provide an independent probe of new flavor physics.
In supersymmetric models neutrino data can be explained by R-parity violating operators which violate lepton number by one unit. The so called bilinear model can account for the observed neutrino data and predicts at the same time several decay properties of the lightest supersymmetric particle. In this paper we discuss the expected precision to determine these parameters by combining neutrino and LHC data and discuss the most important observables. We show that one can expect a rather accurate determination of the underlying R-parity parameters assuming mSUGRA relations between the R-parity c…
We study whether the individual violation of the lepton numbers L_{e,mu,tau} in the charged sector can lead to measurable rates for BR(mu->e gamma) and BR(tau->mu gamma). We consider three different scenarios, the fist one corresponds to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with non-universal soft terms. In the other two cases the violation of flavor in the leptonic charged sector is associated to the neutrino problem in models with a see-saw mechanism and with R-parity violation respectively.
Future Circular Collider is one of the next generation energy-frontier proton-proton colliders with 100 TeV center of mass energy and promising very high luminosity. FCC will be an extraordinary machine for searching Beyond the Standard Model physics because of its very high center of mass energy and luminosity. Searching supersymmetric particles via R-parity violated interactions could be listed in promising BSM physics at the FCC. Scalar tau neutrino is one of the most interesting predictions. A search for $\widetildeν_τ$ neutrino decaying into $eμ$ final state via R-parity violated interact…
We consider the signals of pair-produced charginos in an $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider, in a scenario where R-parity is spontaneously broken. The possibility of lepton-chargino mixing, together with the presence of a Majoron, opens up the two-body decay channel of a chargino into a tau and a Majoron. We have studied the regions where this is the dominant decay of a chargino, and have shown that over a large region of the parameter space the ensuing signals, namely tau-pairs with missing-$p_T$, may rise well above standard model backgrounds at LEP-II. Such signals can also enable one to distinguish bet…
We propose a method for determining the CP nature of a neutral Higgs boson or spin-zero resonance $ϕ$ at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in its $ϕ\toτ^{-}τ^{+}$ decay channel. The method can be applied to any 1-prong $τ$-decay mode, which comprise the majority of the $τ$-lepton decays. The proposed observables allow to discriminate between pure scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs-boson states and/or between a CP-conserving and CP-violating Higgs sector. We show for the decays $τ\toπν_τ$ that the method maintains its discriminating power when measurement uncertainties are taken into account. The…
We recalculate the leading one-loop contributions to mu > e gamma and mu -> eee in the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity, recovering previous results for the former. When all the Goldstone interactions are taken into account, the latter is also ultraviolet finite. The present experimental limits on these processes require a somewhat heavy effective scale ~2.5 TeV, or the flavour alignment of the Yukawa couplings of light and heavy leptons at the ~10% level, or the splitting of heavy lepton masses to a similar precision. Present limits on tau decays set no bounds on the corresponding parameter…
An intrinsic parity violating hadronic tau lepton decay is investigated. $τ\to ππην$ is the process in which the dominant contribution to the amplitude is due to the intrinsic parity violation. To predict the hadronic invariant mass spectra and to compare them with experimental data, we extend the chiral Lagrangian with vector mesons so that it incorporates the intrinsic parity violating terms and $ϕ$ and $η^\prime$ mesons. The coefficients of the intrinsic parity violating terms will be determined by fitting the branching fractions for $V^I \rightarrow P γ$, $V^I \rightarrow 3 P$ and $P \to V…
The consecutive steps of cascade decay initiated by H to tau tau can be useful for the measurement of Higgs couplings and in particular of the Higgs boson parity. In the previous papers we have found, that multi-dimensional signatures of the tau^pm to pi^pm pi^0 nu and tau^pm to 3pi^pm nu decays can be used to distinguish between scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs state. The Machine Learning techniques (ML) of binary classification, offered break-through opportunities to manage such complex multidimensional signatures. The classification between two possible CP states: scalar and pseudoscalar, is n…
The simplest unified extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with bi-linear R-parity violation naturally predicts a hierarchical neutrino mass spectrum, suitable to explain atmospheric and solar neutrino fluxes. We study whether the individual violation of the lepton numbers L_{e,mu,tau} in the charged sector can lead to measurable rates for BR(mu->e gamma)and $BR(tau-> mu gamma). We find that some of the R-parity violating terms that are compatible with the observed atmospheric neutrino oscillations could lead to rates for mu->e gamma measurable in projected experiments. Howeve…
Supersymmetry (SUSY) with a long-lived stau is an attractive scenario in the LHC experiments because one can directly observe stau tracks in each SUSY event, and thus precise measurements of SUSY particle masses are possible. In this scenario, we discuss the possibility to observe/measure parity violation in interactions among SUSY particles. Such a measurement will be important in determining spins and chiralities of SUSY particles. We use the last step of the cascade-decay chain: $χ^0\to\tildeττ\to\tildeτ(lν\barν)$, where the polarization of the tau lepton can be determined statistically by …
We present a new class of constraints to the lepton-family number and R-parity violating couplings from muonium conversion, $μ^{-} + {_{22}^{48}} Ti \to e^{-} + {_{22}^{48}} Ti$, a class of tau decays, $τ\to l +$ (light meson) with $l= μor e$, and $J/ψ$ and $π^0$ decays into a lepton pair. We find that $μ^{-} + {_{22}^{48}} Ti \to e^- + {_{22}^{48}} Ti$ provides one of the strongest constraints along with $Δm_{K}, Δm_{B}$, $μ\to e γ$ and the neutrinoless double $β$ decay. Search for these lepton-family number violating (LFNV) decays forbidden in the standard model is clearly warranted in vario…
In supersymmetric theories with R-parity breaking, trilinear couplings of two leptons to scalar sleptons are possible. In electron-positron collisions such interactions would manifest themselves through contact terms in Bhabha scattering and in annihilation to mu or tau pair Interpreting the high x, high Q2 DIS HERA events as charm squark production with squark masses of order 200 GeV, the formation of tau sneutrinos with a mass in the range close to the LEP2 energy or even in reach, is an exciting speculation which can be investigated in the coming LEP2 runs with energies close to 200 GeV.
In models where the breaking of lepton number is spontaneous a massless Goldstone boson, the Majoron ($J$), appears. We calculate the theoretically allowed range for the branching ratios of Majoron emitting charged lepton decays, such as Br($μ\to e J$) and Br($μ\to e J γ$), in a supersymmetric model with spontaneous breaking of R-parity. Br($μ\to eJ$) is maximal in the same region of parameter space for which the lightest neutralino decays mainly invisibly. A measurement of Br($μ\to eJ$) thus potentially provides information on R-parity violation complementary to accelerator searches. We also …
We present an assessment of the standard model expectations for the branching ratio of the isotopic spin and G-parity violating decay tau --> eta' pi nu_tau. The estimate is based on a vector and scalar meson dominance parametrization of the relevant form factors, that explicitly accounts for pi^0-eta-eta' mixing. The numerical results obtained in this framework indicate a branching ratio one order of magnitude (or more) below the current experimental limit, and suggest the possibility of evidencing some novel interaction in high statistics studies of this decay.
We show how the sum of the two average tau polarisations in the decay chain chi20 -> stau1 tau -> tau tau chi10 in minimal supersymmetry with conserved R-parity can be measured at the LHC. This is accomplished by exploiting the polarisation dependence of the visible di-tau mass spectrum. Such a measurement provides information on the couplings of the involved SUSY particles and allows a more precise determination of the di-tau mass endpoint. If different tau decay modes can be distinguished, the polarisation and endpoint measurement can be improved even further.
Spin observables in the photoproduction of the $Θ^+$ are explored for the purpose of determining the parity of the $Θ^+$. Based on reflection symmetry in the scattering plane, we show that certain spin observables in the photoproduction of the $Θ^+$ can be related directly to its parity. We also show that measurements of both the target nucleon asymmetry and the $% Θ^+$ polarization may be useful in determining the parity of $Θ^+$ in a model-independent way. Furthermore, we show that no combination of spin observables involving only the polarization of the photon and/or nucleon in the initial …
We discuss some key issues associated with duality-violating and non-perturbative OPE contributions to the theoretical representations of light quark current-current two-point functions and relevant to precision determinations of alpha_s from hadronic tau decay and electroproduction cross-section data. We demonstrate that analyses with an explicit representation of duality-violating effects are required to bring theoretical errors in such extractions under control, motivating the accompanying paper in these proceedings, which presents the results of such an analysis.
We calculate the rates for the charged lepton flavour violating decays l_i -> l_j gamma, tau -> l pi, tau -> l eta, tau -> l eta', mu^- -> e^- e^+ e^-, the six three body leptonic decays tau^- -> l_i^- l_j^+ l_k^- and the rate for mu-e conversion in nuclei in the Littlest Higgs model with T-Parity (LHT). We also calculate the rates for K_{L,S} -> mu e, K_{L,S} -> pi^0 mu e and B_{d,s} -> l_i l_j. We find that the relative effects of mirror leptons in these transitions are by many orders of magnitude larger than analogous mirror quark effects in rare K and B decays analyzed recently. In particu…
Supersymmetry with bilinear R-parity violation provides a predictive framework for neutrino masses and mixings in agreement with current neutrino oscillation data. The model leads to striking signals at future colliders through the R-parity violating decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle. Here we study charged scalar lepton decays and demonstrate that if the scalar tau is the LSP (i) it will decay within the detector, despite the smallness of the neutrino masses, (ii) the relative ratio of branching ratios Br({tilde tau}_1 --> e sum nu_i)/ Br({tilde tau}_1 --> mu sum nu_i) is predicte…
We study unconventional decays of the top-quark in the framework of SUSY models with spontaneously broken R-parity. In particular we discuss an effective theory which consists of the MSSM plus bilinearly broken R-parity. We demonstrate that the decay modes t -> stau + b and t -> tau + sbottom can have large branching ratios even in scenarios where the tau-neutrino mass is very small. We show that existing Tevatron data already probe the theoretical parameters, with promising prospects for further improvement at the Run 2 of the Tevatron.
We investigate bounds from tree-level and one-loop processes in generic supersymmetric models with spontaneous R-parity breaking in the superpotential. We analyse the bounds from a general point of view. The bounds are applicable both for all models with spontaneous R-parity violation and for explicit bilinear R-parity violation based on general lepton-chargino and neutrino-neutralino mixings. We find constraints from semileptonic B, D and K decays, leptonic decays of the mu and tau, electric dipole moments, as well as bounds for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.
We calculated the differential cross sections of the processes in which one of the pair created tau particles at an e^+ e^- collider decays into lepton flavor violating final states e.g. tau -> mu gamma, tau -> 3 mu, tau -> mu ee. Using the correlations between angular distributions of both sides of tau decays, we can obtain information on parity and CP violations of lepton flavor non-conserving interactions. The formulae derived here are useful in distinguishing different models, since each model of physics beyond the standard model predicts different angular correlations. We also calculate a…
We investigate in detail the low-energy spectrum of the R-parity violating mSUGRA model using the computer program \texttt{SOFTSUSY}. We impose the experimental constraints from the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, the decay $b\ra sγ$ as well as the mass bounds from direct searches at colliders, in particular on the Higgs boson and the lightest chargino. We also include a new calculation for the R parity violating contribution to $\Br(B_s\ra μ^+μ^-)$. We then focus on cases where the lightest neutralino is {\em not} the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP)…
We calculate the diphoton distribution in the decay of arbitrary spin-0 and spin-2 bosons produced from gluon fusion, taking into account the fact that gluons inside an unpolarized proton are generally linearly polarized. The gluon polarization brings about a difference in the transverse momentum distribution of positive and negative parity states. At the same time, it causes the azimuthal distribution of the photon pair to be non-isotropic for several spin-2 coupling hypotheses, allowing one to distinguish these from the isotropic scalar and pseudoscalar distributions.
We update the single-coupling bounds on R-parity violating supersymmetry using the most up to date data as of October 2009. In addition to the data listed in the 2009 Review of Particle Properties, we utilize a new determination of the weak charge of cesium-133, and preliminary tau-decay branching fractions from Babar. Analysis of semileptonic D-decay is improved by the inclusion of experimentally measured form-factors into the calculation of the Standard Model predictions.
We investigate the parity-violating analyzing power in neutron capture on the proton at thermal energies in the framework of chiral effective field theory. By combining this analysis with a previous analysis of parity violation in proton-proton scattering, we are able to extract the size of the weak pion-nucleon coupling constant. The uncertainty is significant and dominated by the experimental error which is expected to be reduced soon.
We study gauge and Yukawa coupling unification in the simplest extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) which incorporates R-Parity violation through a bilinear superpotential term. Contrary to what happens in the MSSM, we show that bottom-tau unification at the scale M_GUT where the gauge couplings unify can be achieved for any value of tan(beta) by choosing appropriately the sneutrino vacuum expectation value. In addition, we show that bottom-tau-top unification occurs in a slightly wider tan(beta) range than in the MSSM.
Strong upper bounds are derived on certain product combinations of lepton nonconserving couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with explicit $R$-parity violation. The input is information from rare leptonic decays of the long-lived neutral kaon, the muon and the tau as well as from the mixings of neutral $K$- and $B$-mesons. One of these bounds is comparable and another superior to corresponding ones obtained recently from neutrinoless double beta decay.
