We consider the Skorokhod problem in a time-varying interval. We prove existence and uniqueness for the solution. We also express the solution in terms of an explicit formula. Moving boundaries may generate singularities when they touch. We establish two sets of sufficient conditions on the moving boundaries that guarantee that the variation of the local time of the associated reflected Brownian motion is, respectively, finite and infinite. We also apply these results to study the semimartingale property of a class of two-dimensional reflected Brownian motions.
Motivated by problems in behavioural finance, we provide two explicit constructions of a randomized stopping time which embeds a given centered distribution $μ$ on integers into a simple symmetric random walk in a uniformly integrable manner. Our first construction has a simple Markovian structure: at each step, we stop if an independent coin with a state-dependent bias returns tails. Our second construction is a discrete analogue of the celebrated Azéma-Yor solution and requires independent coin tosses only when excursions away from maximum breach predefined levels. Further, this construction…
We prove a robust super-hedging duality result for path-dependent options on assets with jumps, in a continuous time setting. It requires that the collection of martingale measures is rich enough and that the payoff function satisfies some continuity property. It is a by-product of a quasi-sure version of the optional decomposition theorem, which can also be viewed as a functional version of It{ô}'s Lemma, that applies to non-smooth functionals (of c{à}dl{à}g processes) which are only concave in space and non-increasing in time, in the sense of Dupire.
We construct Skorokhod decompositions for diffusions with singular drift and reflecting boundary behavior on open subsets of $\mathbb R^d$ with $C^2$-smooth boundary except for a sufficiently small set. This decomposition holds almost surely under the path measures of the process for every starting point from an explicitly known set. This set is characterized by the boundary smoothness and the singularities of the drift term. We apply modern methods of Dirichlet form theory and $\mathcal L^p$-strong Feller processes. These tools have been approved as useful for the pointwise analysis of stocha…
Reflected Brownian motion (RBM) in a wedge is a 2-dimensional stochastic process Z whose state space in R^2 is given in polar coordinates by S={(r,theta): r >= 0, 0 <= theta <= xi} for some 0 < xi < 2 pi. Let alpha= (theta_1+theta_2)/xi, where -pi/2 < theta_1,theta_2 < pi/2 are the directions of reflection of Z off each of the two edges of the wedge as measured from the corresponding inward facing normal. We prove that in the case of 1 < alpha < 2, RBM in a wedge is a Dirichlet process. Specifically, its unique Doob-Meyer type decomposition is given by Z=X+Y, where X is a two-dimensional Brown…
For moving average processes with random coefficients and heavy-tailed innovations that are weakly dependent in the sense of strong mixing and local dependence condition $D'$ we study joint functional convergence of partial sums and maxima. Under the assumption that all partial sums of the series of coefficients are a.s. bounded between zero and the sum of the series we derive a functional limit theorem in the space of $\mathbb{R}^{2}$-valued càdlàg functions on $[0, 1]$ with the Skorokhod weak $M_{2}$ topology.
This work investigates the almost sure stabilization of a class of regime-switching systems based on discrete-time observations of both continuous and discrete components. It develops Shao's work [SIAM J. Control Optim., 55(2017), pp. 724--740] in two aspects: first, to provide sufficient conditions for almost sure stability in lieu of moment stability; second, to investigate a class of state-dependent regime-switching processes instead of state-independent ones. To realize these developments, we establish an estimation of the exponential functional of Markov chains based on the spectral theor…

We characterise the value function of the optimal dividend problem with a finite time horizon as the unique classical solution of a suitable Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. The optimal dividend strategy is realised by a Skorokhod reflection of the fund's value at a time-dependent optimal boundary. Our results are obtained by establishing for the first time a new connection between singular control problems with an absorbing boundary and optimal stopping problems on a diffusion reflected at $0$ and created at a rate proportional to its local time.
In this paper we propose and analyze a class of $N$-player stochastic games that include finite fuel stochastic games as a special case. We first derive sufficient conditions for the Nash equilibrium (NE) in the form of a verification theorem. The associated Quasi-Variational-Inequalities include an essential game component regarding the interactions among players, which may be interpreted as the analytical representation of the conditional optimality for NEs. The derivation of NEs involves solving first a multi-dimensional free boundary problem and then a Skorokhod problem. We call it a "movi…
基于随机过程$\{X_t: t \in E\}$的$n$独立拷贝,建立了经验分位数过程CLT,其中$I$是$(0,1)$的闭子区间,在$t \in E$和分位数水平$α\in I$上是一致的.通常为$E=[0,T]$,或此类区间的有限积。还包括基于$\{I_{X_t \le y} - \rm {Pr}(X_t \le y): t \in E, y \in R \}$的经验过程的CLT,其在$t \in E, y \in R$中是统一的。过程$\{X_t: t \in E\}$可以从高斯过程、复合泊松过程、平稳独立增量稳定过程和鞅的广泛集合中选择。
In population genetics, diffusions on the unit interval are often used to model the frequency path of an allele. In this setting we derive approximations for fixation probabilities, expected hitting times and the expected site-frequency-spectrum under small frequency-dependent selection. Specifically, we rederive and extend the one-third rule of evolutionary game theory (Nowak et al., 2004) and effects of stochastic slowdown (Altrock and Traulsen, 2009). Since similar effects are of interest in other application areas, we formulate our results for general one-dimensional diffusions.
