We study the effect of gluon number fluctuations (Pomeron loops) on deep inelastic scattering (DIS) in the fixed coupling case. We find that the description of the DIS data is improved once gluon number fluctuations are included. Also the values of the parameters, like the saturation exponent and the diffussion coefficient, turn out reasonable and agree with values obtained from numerical simulations of toy models which take into account fluctuations. This outcome seems to indicate the evidence of geometric scaling violations, and a possible implication of gluon number fluctuations, in the DIS data. However, we cannot exclude the possibility that the scaling violations may also come from the diffusion part of the solution to the BK-equation, instead of gluon number fluctuations.
We suggest a modified form of a unitarized BFKL equation imposing the so-called kinematic constraint on the gluon evolution in multi-Regge kinematics. The underlying nonlinear effects on the gluon evolution are investigated by solving the unitarized BFKL equation analytically. We obtain an equation of the critical boundary between dilute and dense partonic system, following a new differential geometric approach and sketch a phenomenological insight on geometrical scaling. Later we illustrate the phenomenological implication of our solution for unintegrated gluon distribution $f(x,k_T^2)$ towar…
The cross section for deep inelastic lepton-proton scattering (DIS) $\ell p \to \ell' X$ includes a diffractive deep inelastic (DDIS) contribution $\ell p \to \ell' p' X$, in which the proton remains intact with a large longitudinal momentum fraction $x_F$ greater than 0.9 and small transverse momentum. The DDIS events, which can be identified with Pomeron exchange in the $t$-channel, account for approximately $10\%$ of all of the DIS events. Thus, when one measures DIS, one automatically includes the leading-twist Bjorken-scaling DDIS events as a contribution to the DIS cross section, whether…
Gauge theory correlators are potentially more singular in the infrared than those in non-gauge theories. We determine the implications that these singularities have on the spectrum of the theory, proving that the appearance of generalised poles implies the existence of on-shell states with fixed mass, but zero norm. For quantum chromodynamics these poles have direct relevance for the confinement of coloured states. Using lattice data for the Landau gauge gluon propagator we subsequently test for the presence of these poles, establishing that the data is indeed consistent with such a component.

The proton-proton elastic differential cross section ${\rm d}σ/{\rm d}t$ has been measured by the TOTEM experiment at $\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV energy with $β^{*}=11$ m beam optics. The Roman Pots were inserted to 13 times the transverse beam size from the beam, which allowed to measure the differential cross-section of elastic scattering in a range of the squared four-momentum transfer ($|t|$) from $0.36$ GeV$^{2}$ to $0.74$ GeV$^{2}$. The differential cross-section can be described with an exponential in the $|t|$-range between $0.36$ GeV$^{2}$ and $0.54$ GeV$^{2}$, followed by a diffractive minim…
